Rio: You forgot one other baseball fan on this here blog — here in Chevy Chase. While I sympathize with your slump concerns, talk about a slump –the Washington Nationals have gone from World Series champions in 2019 to the worst team in baseball in 2022, with almost all of our stars playing for other teams now. That is definitely a slump to be concerned about. As for the Cardinals, I think they are resourceful enough to come back, including Pujols getting to 700 home runs (and who knows how far above 61 Aaron Judge of the Yankees will be by the end of the year). This is shaping up to be a really remarkable and memorable baseball year, with more to come. Most importantly, remember the sage advice of Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own: “there is no crying in baseball”.

    Greetings!

RIO! I have experienced baseball stomach ache many times when it comes to the Yankees…Heh! Even though the Yankees have clinched a playoff spot, they have been known to choke during playoff time, and that really makes my stomach hurt. As WTAFP said, it really will be wonderful for baseball (and Yankees fans) when Aaron Judge hits that 61st, and then 62nd home run!

    Good Friday to all!

Ooops. Got the wrong blog day while catching up.

Today is the Fall Equinox, the first day of autumn, although here you would never know it. We’re heading into another hot spell in the mid 80s. What we need is a National Weather Control Day. Oh, wait. That’s today too.

I went water walking at the gym pool today although the refreshment has already worn off.

I need to do laundry but I am procrastinating, having done several loads at my parent’s house and ironed around 300 yards of fabric in preparation for making my Mom jumpsuits and sun dresses for every day of the week. Plus a few for me.

Chet would be interested to know it is also National Snack Sticks Day. That sounds like Slim Jims to me.

Lastly, it is National Dogs in Politics day. I know that book (Paw and Order) has already sailed, but I say there is nothing like a dog to raise the level of politics. At least they don’t fight like humans. What bothers me about the little write up on National Today is that it is only about the First Dogs in the White House. We have many dogs that have be elected to office and fulfilled their duties admirably. Mostly they have served as mayors in small towns across the United States. Apparently this is a redundant thing in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. Mayor Bosco of East Bay, CA ran against two human candidates and won. He kept his position for 13 years until his death in 1995. Just goes to show, in the dog eat dog world of politics, sometimes the best one for the job *is* a dog.

There were also two canines that served the U.S. Postal Service. Owney was a mascot but there was also Dorsey who was an official mail carrier for the U.S. Postal service in Calico, California.
