Mrs. P (more)

Okeydoke. I can see that yesterday’s post about my next book, Mrs. Plansky’s Revenge (already pre-orderable, by the way), intended to clear up confusion may have caused more. The human condition. I’ll just say now it’s not a Chet and Bernie novel, and I was about to say there isn’t even a dog in it, but then I decided to run a search, and lo and behold, there’s one. Here’s the passage, so today’s post ends with a ridiculously early sneak peek into the book:

The road began to climb in broad sweeping curves into what were probably the foothills of snow-capped mountains in the distance. Every so often a village went by, none looking prosperous, the houses and shops lining the road with very few buildings farther back, and always a church in the Orthodox style, the domes unpainted except for a single gold dome in one village. Mrs. Plansky drove carefully around a dog sleeping in the road and began to sing I’m in the Mood for Love, one of her favorites. There were many versions but in a dopey kind of way the one she preferred wasn’t Nat King Cole’s or Jo Stafford’s or even Billie Eilish’s, but the doo-wop version by the Chimes, which she’d tried and utterly failed to teach Norm. Now she sang and sang, unaware at first that she’d driven up into fog, or that it had drifted down to her. She slowed way down. The fog grew thicker, and to her surprise she realized she was on a dirt road, quite narrow. That had to be wrong. Up ahead she could just make out what seemed to be a lookout off the side of the road. She pulled in and stopped the car.

    Good day all!
Dog, dirt road, distant snow capped mountains, fog and run down towns. So much description. It really goes well beyond the cover.

I am thinking of adopting my 3rd “foster fail.” Three cats in the house? I know Mr. Big is voting no but he sleeps most of the time. Roscoe and Gem hang out together and play together. They are evenly matched.

Today was a rare sunny day and the temperature reached 60 degrees. A heat wave. Tomorrow and for the foreseeable future it is overcast, rainy and cold. Winter is coming. I am getting out my bird feeders to hang up.

    Got my flu shot today…

Big Tiny votes yes to the third kitty in the Hobbit House. And he really likes the names of all 3 of your kitties.
