Friend of the Month Reminder
Last day of the month already! Why does time keep doing this? (Shakespeare suggests love is the only recourse: “Love’s not time’s fool.”) But we’re way off topic. Last day of the month makes it the last day of eligibility for anyone who wants to be Chet’s April Friend of the Month to post a pic to the FB page. Winner gets to be the profile pic and the winner’s human companion usually gets a signed copy of the latest Chet and Bernie mystery – in this case Bark To The Future. But, today I just happen to have an ARC (advance reader copy) of Mrs. Plansky’s Revenge (coming July 25, pre-orderable). So let’s make a signed ARC of Mrs. P the special prize. Not a Chet and Bernie but I’m guessing you may like it anyway. So just send in a pic. The random number generator does the rest! Do you know anyone who has a good candidate hanging out at home? Perhaps share this post with them.

Rio (from last night) –Franklin first entered our lives in late May 2021, after being born on March 30, 2021, which was about 6 months after our precious Teddy crossed the rainbow bridge.

WTAFP! That was a lot of puppies. I have a niece and nephew (each with their respective spouses) who have Great Danes. They love the breed. I personally love big dogs but don’t have a dog any more. My breed of choice when I had a dog was a basset hound. My last was a senior I adopted from a basset rescue group.
Now I stick to cats!! Hobbit! Loved the pics of your feline group. I guess they approve of the new furniture!
Happy Friday, all!

WTAFP: I hope Franklin got a special meal and treat after his workout. I once had a dog that would race up a trail, come back and check in with me and then race off again. Over and over. It was amazing.
I miss having a dog but if Sadie was my last dog, she was indeed special.
Good day all.

I certainly get Franklin covering twice or three times the ground. When Ramses was in his prime, he used to do the same thing. He would also walk off leash around my parent’s neighborhood with Candy. Same path every night so they knew it. But Ramses had to go up and back every driveway, then ahead and back to me, so he covered 2 to 4 times the distance I did. Candy not so much because she was a bit Rubenesque and didn’t over exert herself so much.
When I take the Wonder Puppies you’d think three dogs would be difficult but they are actually easier than two. Diana pawPrints on the left, Dolly on the right and Freyja Grey in the middle. The two outer dogs pretty much control Freyja so it is actually easier to keep them all on the path and moving forward. One dog can try to move off but the other two keep them in check. Even 92 lb Diana is held by 68 lb Dolly and 48 lb Freyja. The biggest problem now is that Freyja and Dolly are so bonded they will both start working together against Diana and me. But so far, so good.
Our San Diego Humane Walk for the Animals is coming up in May. We won’t be going to Liberty Station this year but again be walking independently around our own neighborhood. That means you can join our team from wherever you are and “walk” with us virtually any day or time close to that week. I’ll post some details later. Then maybe we can share pics of our walks together. You also need not be a canine so anything that walks or can be taken for a walk can join our teach. We are an equal opportunity creature team.
Here is one of the teams training sessions:
