Chetspeak on Sunday

We’ve been doing beginnings. Here’s THE SOUND AND THE FURRY:

“One thing’s for sure,” the lawyer said, handing Bernie our check, “you earned every cent.”

Bernie tucked the check in – oh, no – the chest pocket of his Hawaiian shirt, just about his nicest Hawaiian shirt, with the hula dancers and the trombones, but that wasn’t the point. The point was we’d had chest pocket problems in the past, more than once. And possibly more than twice, but I wouldn’t know, since I don’t count past two. What I do know is that checks have a way of falling out of chest pockets.

“What’s he barking about?” the lawyer said.

Bernie glanced at me. “Just wants to get rolling,” he said. That wasn’t it at all: what I wanted was for Bernie to put that check in his front pants pocket where it would be safe. But then I realized that I did kind of want to get rolling. Wow! That was Bernie, knowing my own mind better than I did. And I knew his exactly the same way! Which is just one of the reasons why the Little Detective Agency is so successful, especially if you forget about the finances part. We’re partners. He’s Bernie Little. I’m Chet, pure and simple.

Keep barking Chet! (I don’t remember if Bernie lost that check.)

Happy Birthday (yesterday) to Wookie and Teddy’s Paw.

Very foggy here with a predicted high of 65…in November!

    Good morning all.

Bear, we had seen that but were hoping it was an error.

I don’t remember either, if that check actually got used for food or bills.

    BearSpiritDog: Lol!

I shoveled the new deck for the second time ever this morning and now it is snowing some big flakes so if anyone wants “winter”, come on up! (SiberH always wanted to take me up on this!) I shoveled a path to the garage, shed, and greenhouse but, if it is a heavy snow year, that won’t continue or maybe just to the garage.

Dawson: You have a greenhouse? Wow! What is in it?

Bear: Sorry about that. It’s raining here.

Today here is comfy but Monday and Tuesday looking thunderstorms then a serious temperature drop for the next week. Sheesh, mom needs to read the almanac!

The snow started after I went to bed at midnight and is still going. Tiny little flakes that still pack a wallop. I will be shoveling today.
I can’t remember the outcome of the check either. It seems like Bernie would have learned after one, two, or more lost checks. I do like Chet’s attitude that their agency and partnership is so very successful “if you forget about the finance part.” Ha!

A gray day with drizzle in this neck of the woods.

C.Hobbitz and RIO! I agree with your comments on yesterday’s blog about “civilized society.”

Just back from our usual Sunday Starbucks run and Scrabble game. Grizz beat me again.

Wose: Starbucks and Scrabble…sounds like a lovely Sunday Tradition.

CHobbitz: Thankfully no need to Shovel Snow here (yet)…but that could change in the foreseeable future.

The snow was extremely wet and heavy. It wouldn’t even slide off the shovel. Ugh. I hope this is not the “new normal” for us. Give me the light, fluffy snow that I can sweep away.
Rose I am going to send you some photos soon.

As for the pictures…If youse can get them to me by November 15th, I will try and put the calendar together ASAP.

BStover and BearSpiritDog: The “greenhouse” door can be opened by pushing the frame of the “greenhouse” back 4 or 5 inches to allow it to clear the grass. The floor is dirt and I’m slightly surprised that the whole structure did not collapse this year.

Dawson, that really beats not having any special place for plants.
