Good day to all. It is a fabulous day here. Mom wants to walk/ride/bike, but there she sits in her office, on her butt. Grrr

Good morning, everyone! MMmm? A piece of work? Like “What a piece of work is man”? Sorry if the quilt was crowded last night, but we both crawled in too. Strictly to keep mom warm, you know? Since she isn’t tip top quite yet we will stay close to her. She told us this her MO since the people v e t sent her spleen to Italy. She should be tip top in a couple of days (or a couple of couple).
Hope that the Royal Mum finds lots of good green chili, friends and pretty pretty stones.

    Greetings!

Have I said that I really love the cover of “Santa 365”? I smile every time I see it.

Beau: I may be small and meek, but my mother didn’t raise any dummies. I do not cannonball into any vats o’ beer where pants haven’t been worn, and noxious gas fumes are emitted. No I do not!

Hoping that all those under the quilt are feeling tip-top soon!

Happy to wake up to another W by the Mets! (Even though I wish it were the Yankees playing). :^)

Rose, BOO! HISS! That is all I have to say on that matter. Cubbie fans are already talking about next year.

Can’t wait to meet Bernie’s mom.

Hope everyone is feeling better today.

Book Bub has Murder at the Iditarod for 1.99 right now. I remember people talking about it. Is it worth ordering?

When I was but a young girl of 2, I was saved from a move to the hot hot hot state of South Carolina by my mom and pop. They adopted me from that old family who were moving and knew I could not live in that climate.
Now I am hearing rumblings that I may be moving to S.C. at my ripe old age! What gives?

BML, Momma is wondering why you said that Ethel is mean. My momma met her and said she is the best of the best. Ethel was gracious as the day is long. She went out of her way, also, to find Momma and congratulate her with a hug and kiss for an award that my momma won.
At the risk of opening a can of worms, I would like to also say that I understand Ethel’s husband to be a great one. The rest of that family, maybe not. But Momma is not willing to accept any disparagement of her revered idol.

Well, maybe everything one reads is not true. I read that Ethel was a very distant mother to her 11 children and a hot mess of a homemaker (dog doo under dining tables when she had guests). Also read that she didn’t keep up with bill payments to many people and didn’t much care. Her children got in lots of trouble, some drug related. Also read that she was verbally and physically abusive to some of her kids. Maybe it is true, and maybe it isn’t. I, too, was always a big fan of Robert Kennedy.

I’m looking forward to understanding why Bernie’s mom is described as a “piece of work.”

B,M,&L: I always give credit where credit is due. The Cubs have an excellent team roster, and Joe Maddon has done a great job as their manager. The Blue Jays and Kansas City are both excellent teams as well. If the Mets do win, the Blue Jays or Kansas City will be a formidable opponent.

  13. BooBear
    3:25 pm on October 21st, 2015

Not to disparage anyone’s idol, but isn’t there a sex tape of John, Robert and Marilyn in a threesome and isn’t it assumed that Robert had something to do with Marilyn’s death/suicide?

Mom knows it was a different time and that the wealthy lived by their own “standards” but…..(and this is no commentary on their politics. Mom admits she doesn’t know about all that.)
Granted just because it’s on the internet doesn’t make it true.
Teddy continued to be a hero to many even after leaving a girlfriend to drown or already dead in the water. Camelot is wasn’t. ALTHOUGH, Lancelot betrayed his king and best friend so maybe Camelot is an apt description.

Mom is not mad at your mom. She tries to steer clear of anything remotely political on this blog, but won’t let statements about rumors go unanswered. Sorry.

As you know, I just returned from North Carolina. I am trying to talk Josh and Jess into moving there. If they went, I would be right behind them. Beautiful country down there. I like the southeast better than Florida or the southwest. Josh could bike ride and I could garden 9 months of the year.

A piece of work. Isn’t that one of those expressions, that if you don’t know what it connotes, would mean the opposite? For example: That beautiful quilt is a real piece of work. It took hours for me to complete.

Mama Meash: As winter approaches, South Carolina sounds just fine to moi.

Bit of sad news: One of the stalwart mares at my favorite horse refuge passed over the rainbow bridge this morning. No doubt the bridge quaked and rattled as Miss Lanna trod over it. She was a big beauty and loved her hugs. She was the best pal of my girl, Liz-Beth.

  22. BARB, MAGGIE AND LUCY

So sorry to hear about Miss Lanna. I hope her passing was peaceful.

Now heading home for a not-so-quiet evening. Josh and Jess have a wake to attend, so they are dropping off Jack, Lyla, and Lucas, their NEW PUPPY for an hour. I will need a strengthening cocktail afterwards! BTW, where is Diane C?

Greetings all. Having such a wonderful time. Eating mass quantities of green chili. Woe betide the person in the next airplane seat….

Meash – South Carolina is lovely. Their politics can be a little bizarre, but the people tend to be friendly and open. We had planned to move there when suddenly life happened. But someday

And Macy’s Mom – just so you know, I am currently sitting alone in a restaurant. Just me, my phone and a bowl of green. It’s kind of nice. Meanwhile, back at home, the Storyteller has put away the air conditioner, vacuumed and done the laundry, between trips up and down the stairs with Tupper.

Do I feel guilty. Nope. Pass the hot sauce.

Just briefly checking in to let everyone know I will be off the blog for the time being and not to worry. Magoo continues to improve and Mr. Big and Sadie are both trying to convince me that they need to gain weight for the coming winter weather. I am concentrating on real life and travels for the foreseeable future. As a wise Plunderer once said…the blog is a river with ebbs and flows and new currents.

Everyone take care and take care of each other!!

BML, Josh could bike 12 months (or at least 10) of the year. We are told that winter in SC lasts only 2 months: Jan and Feb. and we doubt that even those months are anything like we get.
SC is like 99.9% as of now.

Howlers, Are you ready to list your farm?

If we moved it would more likely be N.C.. Winter might be more like Jan, Feb and March there. I probably shouldn’t go unless my kiddos do. But as you said, winter would be nothing like here.

Hobbit, we will miss you but have fun.

Macy – our Hobbit is merely emulating her namesake, Bilbo Baggins. He went on an unexpected journey, and just look at all the magical things that happened.
    It will be OK.

There have been comings and goings as long as there has been a blog. Each voice that has been here has changed us in some way or another. We hope that new voices will join us, and expand our quilt to new, beautiful patterns. And it doesnt mean we will forget Kirby, or Jasper, or Lexi or Siber or the Newf Pack or any of the others whose voices helped build the blog.

Admin – recently you posted a plug for the Blog on your FB page. Maybe another one with some inviting info? Maybe some lurkers will join in.

We do have a nice little village here. Hopefully new neighbors will move in and feel welcomed.

About Sue Henry, she wrote another series of books about a woman who took out on her own in a motorhome with her dog, Stretch. Her name is Maxie hense the Maxie & Stretch series. You can find out more on Sue Henry’s website. Long as we are at it, has anyone read the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny? I may have asked this before. Truly a well written, thought provoking and beautiful series. I can not stress enough to start at the beginning. I believe it is my very favorite series that just gets better and better.
