Shakespeare and Weather (More)

October 2nd, 2014 Posted 8:47 am

“Blow, blow, thou winter wind,
Thou art not so unkind
As man’s ingratitude.”

“Could he have written that if he’d been from Yuma, Arizona?” Admin says.

“Oh, no – not Yuma again?” says Spence. There’s wind in Yuma, by the way. And ingratitude, too, most likely.”

“Very different kind of wind. And Yuma winter is not what Shakespeare would have called winter.”

“Your point?”

“Simply that there may be even at this very moment a thwarted Yuma Shakespeare.”

Note: Still working on a fix for the Friends gallery. No uploading possible at this time.

Here’s a reader who braved the deluge to come to Spence’s signing at the Tattered Cover in Highands Ranch. Excellent pop quiz performance by last night’s audience!

Cold Weather Advice

January 25th, 2013 Posted 8:06 am

“On the other hand,” Admin says, “Audrey slept on the porch glider as usual, showing no desire to come inside. Actually refusing, to put it more accurately.”

“That coat of hers!” says Spence.

Welcome Sophie. Haley – please retry (again!).

… But No One Does Anything About It

November 9th, 2012 Posted 8:29 am

“Athena and Brutus, huh?” Spence says. “Now they’re giving names to winter storms.”

“That’s the way the country’s going,” says Admin. “Ten years from now they’ll be naming every damn zephyr.”

Welcome 2 team players, Scout the sugar plum.
