Deadline coming up!
Do you have a canine friend who was born to be a star? Of course you do—anyone can see there’s natural talent in that wagging tail! We’re holding open auditions for our world premiere of the “Song For Chet” music video, where we’ll be sharing an original country song written exclusively for HEART OF BARKNESS, by Spencer Quinn, in partnership with our publisher Tor/Forge and our good friends over at Muttville who rescue and shelter senior dogs.
For the chance to have footage of your pup included, simply record a short video of them doing their usual amazing, wonderful or loving things, with you or solo, or maybe with their canine pals, and email it over to us at SongForChet@gmail.com along with the following information: your name, your pup’s name, the city and state where you live. Your submission must be an original video that you’ve personally created and which you fully own (no repurposed internet clips!) and to qualify, you should avoid any logos or trademarked images in the background. If you use your cell phone camera, it’s recommended that you hold it horizontally, but if you already have some wonderful footage of you and your 4-legged pal, send it to us no matter what the shape!
Winning clips will be edited for inclusion in our “Song For Chet” music video, which will premiere during the last week of June– so get cracking! The deadline for all submissions is Friday, June 7th at 5pm EST. And here’s a link to the disclaimer:

… on the Song For Chet video. (See yesterday’s post.)

People who comes to this page know about Chet’s Friend of the Month. This is like that but on steroids. Heart of Barkness is about a country music singer named Lotty Pilgrim who has dark secrets – not even understood by her – in her past. During the course of the story, she makes up and sings a Song For Chet. It has become a real song and – with the help of you and your member or members of the nation within – we’re going to make a video to go with the song. A video that celebrates our best friends and the two-way emotional connection we have with them. All we need is you to help! (The song lyrics are by Peter Abrahams, music by Mitchell Watkins, producer Robert Edwards.)
