Trash!

It’s Friday. How I know is because Friday is trash day. Love trash day! I can hear that truck a mile away, whatever that is – but far, right? – and smell it, too. You would not believe the smells the trash truck brings. It’s like a feast. I can still smell the trash truck the next day and the day after that.

Mig’s the driver. Bernie puts out a case of beer every Christmas, hoping that Mig will remember to pick up all our  trash and not zip away so fast that trash comes flying out. A helper who hangs on at the back does the work of picking up the barrels and dumping them out. The helpers are always changing – they keep geting sent back to Mexico, Bernie says.

Here they come now! The helper’s dumping out our barrels. He jumps back on. Mig toots the horn. That’s him saying hi – he likes us on account of the beer. And he zips off, and yes! Trash flies out the back, including what looks like what humans call leftovers. Leftovers are an interest of mine. See you later.

Tomorrow – back to our story. I won’t forget.
