“I hear last night at the Scholastic party in Pasadena was all about indie book stores,” Admin says.
“That’s right,” says Spence.
“Did you speak?”
“Briefly.”
“Anyone throw anything?”
“Not that I saw.”
“Nice people, the indies.”
“What does that mean?”

“You’ll be in Denver on Thursday for The Sound and the Furry?” Admin says.
“Tattered Cover,” says Spence. “The Highland Ranch location. I’m really looking forward to it. The Tattered Cover is one of the best-known and most important indie bookstores in the country.”
“I understand there’ll be a pop quiz at every stop, with Chet and Bernie stress balls for prizes?”
“Especially if you can get me that list of questions.”
“Don’t rush me,” says Admin. “How about this one: What was the only case Chet and Bernie failed to solve?
