Westminster Dog Show’s coming up soon. How soon? Don’t know. But every time Bernie turns on the TV I start getting excited and then it’s not there. Bernie says there’s going to be a new competitor this year – “the Dogue de Bordeaux, Chet.” Hey! I remember him from Turner and Hooch, one of our favorites, although I think I like Hotel For Dogs better. That Dogue is a big friendly type with lots of drool. Not a drooler myself, but it doesn’t bother me, not one bit. In fact, it’s kind of cool. Some humans see a drooler and go, “Ew.” But guess what – if you’ve ever had the chance to check out humans just before they wake up in the morning, chances are you’ve seen drool, and plenty of it. We’re all in this together, as Bernie said one time when we were in a crowded elevator. No one laughed.

Stroke of Luck

Charlie came over last night. Have I mentioned Charlie? He’s great! Likes to ride around on my back. Do we have fun or what? Charlie’s Bernie’s kid, lives mostly with Leda since the divorce. But the point is, after dinner Charlie wanted to watch Marley and Me, and that made me remember what I was supposed to be doing, namely posting my review. Couldn’t remember much about the movie – no idea why, since I remember Hotel For Dogs real well, especially how Friday, the star of the picture, snapped up all that bacon – so it’s a good thing I saw it again. Now it’s fresh in my  mind and I’ll post about it any time now, maybe after my nap.

Movie Review

We saw Hotel For Dogs last night. Not in an actual movie theater on account of me and my kind not being welcome in movie theaters. But Bernie has this pal in L.A. who sends us DVD’s, not sure of the details, so we watched at home, which is on Mesquite Road in the Valley, if I haven’t mentioned that already. Bernie had a glass of bourbon and I had a rawhide chew strip from Rover and Co. They’re the best! Once I even got to tour the place, maybe a story for another time. But getting back to Hotel For Dogs. Great! All this stuff happened, going by so fast. The best part was when this huge pack of my guys was running wild through the streets. Even better was when Friday – he’s the star of the picture – snuck behind this mean woman and gobbled up a whole plate of bacon sitting on the counter. I could smell that bacon! Except I couldn’t, which is a big problem in movies. No smell. Doesn’t bother Bernie, of course, his sense of smell being pretty much nonexistent. But he likes bacon, too, although when I glanced over at him during that scene he was asleep. Tonight: Marley and Me.
