“Drowning?”

“Nope.”

“What what was wrong with you? Feverish?”

“Katherine Hall Page was on the panel. She’s heard them all before.”

“And that was enough to stop you?”

“She’s too nice to inflict all that on.”

Spence refills their glasses. “Guess what. They’re starting to talk about first-person narration down below.”

“Uh-oh.”
