Nice to see Chet and Bernie included in this post at the very entertaining Jungle Red Writers site.

Appearances (That Will Not Be Happening)
March 13th, 2020 Posted 7:58 am
Due to coronavirus precautions, next Wednesday’s Southington Reads appearance has been canceled, with the possibility of moving it to a later date. Same with Book Mania in Florida, March 27-28. Maybe when things are back to normal we’ll find there’s been an uptick in book reading during this time.

Coronavirus and the Nation Within
February 28th, 2020 Posted 8:06 am
Way too early to know the implications – if any – of this story, but something to keep an eye on. As for the total picture – something we’re totally unqualified to comment on – we are keeping calm. Partly because not keeping calm usually has a bad outcome, but mostly because we suspect the mortality rate is low. To calculate it they divide the number of deaths (probably a fairly accurate stat) by the number of cases – and that number has to be much larger than the number they’re using, for several reasons: some people are infected but asymptomatic and therefore unreported; some have mild cases and think it’s flu or a cold; some are afraid to identify themselves; some are known but unreported due to government incompetence or conniving. But the point: the bigger the divisor, the lower the mortality rate. Just the thoughts of a know-little – feel free to ignore.
