Paris Hilton?

December 11th, 2009 Posted 8:54 am

“Looks like there’s a chihuahua problem in California,” Bernie says.

Chihuahua problem? I know a chihuahua name of Binky and I’ve never had the slightest problem with her. I actually kind of like Binky. Once I was resting on this picnic table – what a cookout that was! – and she kept trying and trying to jump up there with me. That was fun to watch.

“Actually,” Bernie says, “it’s probably a people problem. Chihuahuas got real popular because of Paris Hilton’s Tinkerbell and chihuahua roles in movies, and then the breeders got going and now they’re flooding into shelters.”

Paris Hilton. The name is vaguely familiar. A perp, most probably, but I don’t ever remember grabbing her by the pantleg.

Question from Admin: Does anyone out there have any connections at the Westminster Dog Show? Spence would like to go there, maybe sign a book or two.

Careful, Chiquilla (and thanks, Ellen P.)

“Here’s something a little unusual,” Bernie says. It’s Sunday. How do I know? Elvis gospel! Bernie’s reading the paper. I’m watching a spider climbing the wall. “Huntington Beach – a woman put Chiquilla, her chihuahua, up in a treehouse with another dog while company came over. They were both on leashes. Somehow Chiquilla fell and accidentally hung herself. One of the guests, Krisna Torres, saved Chiquilla by doing a mouth-to-mouth rescue.” Bernie frowns. “‘The dog’s mouth was just horrible,’ she said.”

Huh? What was horrible about it? I lick my lips. My mouth feels just fine.

Tomorrow – back to whatever was promised before.
