Book #5: A Fistful Of Collars

And here’s a short excerpt:

“He’s not here yet,” Luxton said. “But this is where he’s staying during the shoot, a little fact we’ll keep under our hats.”

I was on board for that, although Bernie and Luxton weren’t wearing hats, and I never did. All I wear is my collar, the brown one for everyday and the black one for dress-up. Everyday means on the job, so brown’s what I wear when we’re collaring perps – and then they end up sporting orange! Not collars actually, but jumpsuits, even though they’re collared: kind of confusing. Let’s drop it.

Welcome Sasha and Smokey in Fla and Bud and Pokey.

Special traveling day. But for now, a blog exclusive – the very beginning of book 5 in the Chet and Bernie series:

“Heard you drove another one off a cliff,” said Nixon Panero. He spat a thin brown stream of chewing tobacco into an empty paint can, or maybe not that empty. Yellow paint, the yellow of egg yolks, now with a brown swirl in the middle: there’re all kinds of beauty in life.

“You heard wrong,” said Bernie.

Shuteye: From The Dog Who Knew Too Much

Admin: Spence finished the revisions on book #5 yesterday. He’s pretty sleepy today. Here’s a bit of sleep from The Dog Who Knew Too Much:

For a while I just lay on the ground – mossy ground, very comfortable – and enjoyed the feeling of being the only one awake in the night, one of my favorite feelings. Then a delicious kind of fuzziness came rolling into my mind. I never fight that.

Some humans – Charlie’s amazing at this! – are totally zonked out when they’re asleep, almost impossible to wake. That’s not the way it works in the nation within the nation. I get plenty of rest, no complaints, but I’m never totally zonked out, which was why sometime later I was suddenly wide awake.

Welcome Roll-O – hope up you get all set up real soon.

Happy birthday Seth (a very special one!)

“Then can we get the Christmas tree?” says Admin.

“Why don’t you go and get it yourself?” says Spence. “They’ll help you strap it on the roof. Take the bungee cords.”

Admin produces the chain saw. “This year,” he says, “I was kind of thinking we’d mosey down under the power lines and grab us a wild one.”

Uh-oh.

Welcome CuChulainn and Lily.
