Auction (More)(Revised)

July 3rd, 2011 Posted 8:52 am

“Wow,” says Spence, “I think we have to say how impressed we are.”

“Absolutely,” says Admin. “If the Plunderers were running the country … “

“That could only happen in right-side-up world.”

“I’m ready! Plunderers rule!”

And here’s the link to the auction site. Still open for bidding!

“Hey,” says Spence, “you got enough sleep, huh?”

Auction Action!

July 2nd, 2011 Posted 8:25 am

“Today’s the big day,” says Admin.

“I’m excited,” says Spence.

“But first you have to explain the what and how, as clearly as possible,” says Admin. “I’ll just go out on the porch and finish the coffee.”

“But – ” Spence rubs his forehead, that way he has when he’s hoping to get something started. “Hmmm. OK. Today the online auction begins. Is that clear enough, Chet?”

Not really, but I like watching that forehead thing.

“All proceeds benefit the Snowhook Kennel up in Alaska, to help them – meaning Rebecca and AJ – run their wonderful team, led by the doughty Whitey-Lance, in Iditarod 2012. They’re a wonderfully humane, dog-loving couple. All kinds of great items are up for bid. Bidding begins at 12 noon, EST. Good luck, everyone!”

“Tell them about the link, for God’s sake!” Admin yells from the porch.

“I was getting to that,” Spence yells back. “All you have to do is go to this link:”

Auction (More)

“Maybe you should sum up the auction in some sort of concise way while I go out for breakfast,” says Admin.

“But – ” says Spence. The door bangs shut. The car zooms off in that noisy way that means Admin is at the wheel. “All right,” Spence says. “Here goes. From July 2 to July 10 we’re having an auction to raise money for Snowhook Kennel, our favorite Iditarod racing team. All items will be donated by the Plunderers and the kennel. Anyone – and let’s spread the word to people outside the blog – can bid on artwork and crafts specially made for the auction, quilted projects, dogsledding items, and more, including a signed advance reader copy of The Dog Who Knew Too Much, Chet and Bernie’s next adventure. Photos of all items will soon be displayed, I think.”

“Wonder if he’ll bring me back a muffin. Or even just a small coffee would be OK.”

June 14th, 2011 Posted 8:47 am

“Do think we can ask one of the Plunderers to post a short description of the auction today – when, where, how, why, that kind of thing?” says Spence.

“So we can plagiarize from it?” says Admin.

“If you want to put it that way. I would have said to help us spread the word – on Facebook, all that.”

“There’s the difference between you and me.”

Spence sighs. Admin pours the last of the coffee for himself. He looks cheerful. I’m not sure why.
