Wedding?

“What’s this about a wedding?” Admin says.

“Not sure,” says Spence. “It’s hard to keep up with all these people. Is Princess Anne still around? Princess Margaret? If you run into them  do you say, Yo, Princess?”

“Not sure. Hard to put yourself in the heads of heriditary rulers who don’t rule. I’m guessing they’d be a bit touchy.”

“But meanwhile,” Spence says, “back in the land of the free, a big thanks to Melanie – with input from BearSpiritDog – for figuring out the Iditarod patch thing. If she doesn’t mind, I’ll have a little discussion with David B. and then email her next week.”

Bear? Did someone say bear? For a long time I’d only seen bears on Animal Planet. Then came … maybe a story for another time. But isn’t it in The Dog Who Knew Too Much?

Welcome Sophia, two adventurers, Prisca, Peaches, Sneakers.

Where Is Harry?

“Here’s a case from Australia,” Bernie says. “Happened at the Royal Adelaide Dog Show – starting to remind you of anything, Chet?”

You bet. We know a waitress named Adelaide, a great waitress who works at Max’s Memphis Ribs. I stand up, ready to go.

“Kylie Sunman was there with her prize-winning entrant, Harry, a chihuahua.” Chihuahua? Oh, brother. “She was ten meters away from him toileting other dogs – that’s the expression she uses – and when she looked up Harry was gone. It was a snatch, Chet. Just like Princess.”

So we’re going to Max’s Memphis Ribs or not?

“Kylie Sunman is offering five grand for Harry’s safe return.”

I don’t know what five grand is, exactly, just that it’s a lot. I do know about Australia from Animal Planet – kangaroos! – but how far is it? Can we drive? I watch Bernie. He turns the page of the newspaper, sips his coffee. Are we going to Australia? Max’s Memphis Ribs? Anywhere?

Nice Going, Sadie The Scottie

Sadie wins Westminster! Way to go, and congratulations to all the competitors, of whom I missed some, maybe a lot, on account of falling asleep. We’ve been pretty busy lately, me and Bernie. But he says that Sadie and her handler Gabriel Rangel like to watch Animal Planet together, and so do we! Although all that watching didn’t prepare me for some of the things that happened in book 3.

Some question came up down in the bottom part about Leda and the Little Detective Agency? Here’s a bit from the beginning of Dog On It:

The door opened and in, with a little stumble, came Bernie Little, founder and part owner (his ex-wife, Leda, walked off with the rest) of the Little Detective Agency. I’d seen him look worse, but not often.

Palindrome

“Today,” says Bernie, “is a palindrome.” I know palindrome – some kind of camel. Never actually seen a camel myself, except on Animal Planet. The smell could be interesting.

“You know,” he says, “like Madam I’m Adam, or a man, a plan, a canal – Panama!”

“Bernie?” says Suzie, “can you pass the sugar?”

We’re still having fun in St. Lucia.

Note from Admin to RR – will look into doohickey when doohickey support guy is available.
