Beautifully said Spence. Thank you.
Good morning all.
8:48 am on December 28th, 2012
Mom wasn’t able to post last night because she could not stop crying. Her heart breaks for Maury and Debbie.
8:51 am on December 28th, 2012
Rebecca? Is your back okay?
8:53 am on December 28th, 2012
Rio: Thank you. I’ll check out “Building the Cathedrals” on NOVA. The flying buttresses (isn’t that a fun term; the school where I taught had a College of Architecture so I know all about them) on Notre Dame in Paris–south side–are wonderful.
Actually I know what TMI means but thank you Staff.
9:22 am on December 28th, 2012
Good morning all, and thank you for the tribute to Wookie. Barb tears up every time she thinks about him. He was an important part of the blog and represented everything that is good about a dog.
9:25 am on December 28th, 2012
Is it safe to come out yet? We are all under the quilt with Mom. She asked us to see if she should venture out. We just read all the posts from after we hid her under. We are now going to read Bella’s positives to her. That should help. She can’t stop crying, and she is also so very sick with a cold or sinus infection or whatever. This is really messing up our vacation. But Nurse Meash has been on the job, along with Dr. Bud and Dr. T.C.. And those 2 candystripers Kat and Dima.
Lovely post from Admin. We just have to say one more time how much we all love Wookie. We are so very glad we got to go with him in the Wookiemobile to search for Wolfie. All of youse guys have become like part of our family. Sorry we slipped away so early last night. We just couldn’t take any more sadness.
9:41 am on December 28th, 2012
Here’s a nice winter picture:
9:45 am on December 28th, 2012
Spence & Admin: Thank you.
That box of tissue will be kept nearby for some time.
Wookie, We miss you something fierce!
Bella: Going now to read your list of positives.
Hope your back is okay.

A beautiful photo, B. Where was it taken?
9:48 am on December 28th, 2012
Love the picture Bee. Where was that taken? It looks a lot like Starved Rock in Illinois.
10:12 am on December 28th, 2012
Thank you Admin and Spence for that lovely tribute to Wookie. I will miss him terribly.
B, that is quite a beautiful photo.
Masquers, Les Miserables was fantastic!
Rebecca, please check your SDD when you can. You are free to make the announcement.
10:24 am on December 28th, 2012
Sorry guys. I thought the caption would come through on the picture. It is of Ice Caves in Eben, Michigan (Rock River Township) in the UP.
10:26 am on December 28th, 2012
Bee – that is indeed a lovely picture, and is exactly how we like to see winter: in a picture and NOT out our window. Unfortunately…..
So, today we are doing Christmas with the family. You know – the ones in Mama’s thanksgiving story. Oh joy. We can’t reach the counters so we can’t help with cooking, but we are helping with the cleaning and organizing.
Funny thing is that Mama’s horoscope today is basically that she is going to have a meltdown tonight. Dad’s horoscope is that his partner is going to have a meltdown tonight. And Gramp’s horoscope is that someone important to him is going to have a meltdown tonight, but he will know the background reason for it.
Really and truly – that is what they say. Mama thinks she should just go buy a bus ticket right now.
10:28 am on December 28th, 2012
Forgot: Stormy Kromer had the picture on Facebook. SK is in Ironwood, Michigan…also in the UP.
10:30 am on December 28th, 2012
T&G: Tell your mom that, “This too will pass.”
10:33 am on December 28th, 2012
We also love the picture, Bee. Brrrr.
T&G, why is your mama hosting those ingrates once again?
Rose, is this what we think it is? If so SDD us first, Bella.
10:34 am on December 28th, 2012
Oh My Dog. Tupper and Gilly I think you had better herd your Mama under the quilt and keep her there. Also do not let any of those dysfunctional relatives into the house…Please.
We will be waiting to hear if the Wonder Bread came to the party again.
10:35 am on December 28th, 2012
We are having snow tomorrow! This time it will be all snow, no ice, sleet, freezing rain mess. Yippee! Last snow, Kat hurt her paw. We hope this time, she gets to enjoy the snow with no i jury.
10:36 am on December 28th, 2012
Injury that is.
10:51 am on December 28th, 2012
Staff, here is an interesting article about the evolution of the lactose-tolerant gene.
http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2012/12/27/168144785/an-evolutionary-whodunit-how-did-humans-develop-lactose-tolerance
Our rents only drink raw milk, fresh from the cow, and organic to boot. Articles on raw milk indicate that most people with lactose intolerance are able to drink raw milk with no problems.
10:52 am on December 28th, 2012
Rose: Yes, Les Miz was fantastic!!! WooooHooo we saw it too!
Announcement?
Mom is going to get wonderfluffed.
Will be back in a while.
11:05 am on December 28th, 2012
Something hopeful to look at. (We need it)
And just a reminder. Now that the expensive holidays are (mostly) over we are restarting the Shake your Booty program.
11:10 am on December 28th, 2012
Oley’s,
You will find this hard to believe but raw milk is AGAINST THE LAW in Minnesota…
Well, its sale is “restricted” to be precise.
From the MN Dept of Agriculture…
WHAT IS MINNESOTA’S LAW REGARDING RAW MILK?
Due to the potential risks associated with consuming unpasteurized milk, Minnesota law restricts the sale of this type of milk for human consumption. The law does provide an alternative for people who want to consume unpasteurized milk. On an occasional basis, consumers may go directly to farms to secure the unpasteurized milk directly from the farmer.”
There have been instances of farmers being charged with selling their milk. Evidently if they give it away it is OK, but not if they sell it. Or something like that.

Rio if you click on AJ’s picture above to enlarge it you will notice the glowing eyes of the dogs…heh heh heh
11:15 am on December 28th, 2012
And also – on the teams feet you can see all the lovely BOOTIES that we are working hard to buy for the team for the 2013 Iditarod.
Step right up.
Your chance to save a paw.
Right here, right now.
One and all have equal opportunity at this once in a lifetime event.
Heh heh heh

Admin, Thank you for the lovely tribute to Wookie, Maury, and Debbie.
My favorite kind of photos on the blog today….winter and sled dogs.
Bootie fund raising has restared!! Let’s keep the Snowhook Dogs’ feet warm and protected!
11:38 am on December 28th, 2012
Ingrates!…heh!snort!….What I would give to be at Golinka’s house today…chorkel!…To see it all unfold…wheeze!….I have a feeling we will get some good stories out of this one.
Alice!…Please tell us all how much has been raised so far for the 2000 booties The Giant will need…snort!…Then tell us how much we still need to come up with – somehow…grunt!
12:07 pm on December 28th, 2012
Alice Magnolia Johnson, so nice to hear from you. Did you know that Barb’s grands, Baye, Lily and Ben are all Johnsons?
We also would LOVE to be able to go to Amalia’s for a dinner. Also a chance to attend a Debbie L.M. dinner would be devine.
Oley, I wouldn’t worry about getting sick from raw milk. Barb raised her two daughters on it. At the time she lived near a dairy farm and she used to drive over and get unpasturized milk twich a week. It was wonderfully rich. If the facility is clean you are fine.
12:29 pm on December 28th, 2012
Barb, we never worry about getting sick from our raw milk. The farm is all organic which, at least in Pennsylvania, means very strict compliance in all matters including cleanliness. But what a shame that selling raw milk is illegal in Minnesota. A lot of states are going that way, and we don’t believe they are making those laws for the good of the consumer, but rather for the good of the large factory farm/processing plants. Here in PA, they have some restrictions on selling raw milk, but are still able to do it. But if the farmer does not want to bother with all of the bueracracy, they can give it away and accept a “donation”. That is how we handle it with our neighbor and good friend who operates adairy farm. They sell most of it to an organic milk outfit.,
12:30 pm on December 28th, 2012
Can you spot the spelling error? 🙂
12:36 pm on December 28th, 2012
bueracracy?
12:38 pm on December 28th, 2012
heh heh
12:40 pm on December 28th, 2012
Whooo Hooo
A bootie donation has come in and now the Bootie fund is up to 730.00. Since our goal is 2000 booties at 1 dollar each we are over 1/3 of the way there. Certainly AJ has enough booty money to cover the Knik race that is coming up soon.
12:43 pm on December 28th, 2012
I am not sure that is a dog but there is snow for Mr.Husky…heh
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1YXcD0njts
you have to skip the damn ad
12:44 pm on December 28th, 2012
I mean the booty fund is up to 739. Oops. I pawed the wrong key. I can’t blame the Ipaw. snort.
12:50 pm on December 28th, 2012
I think it is a real dog and it is too adorable for words.
Barb is having a mobile groomer called Aussie Pet Mobile come visit us next week. She is having me wonderfluffed and they said it will take about 2 hours. No nails though. That is being done on Monday by the v e t. She says I have to take a happy pill first.
1:10 pm on December 28th, 2012
Ahem…(tap, tap, tap)…Is this thing on? Can everybody hear me? Good. Ahem. I have a very important announcement to make. Nikolai has been designated as a memorial checkpoint to honor our dear Wookie. AJ chose the Nikolai for this very important checkpoint because he said it is such a friendly and warm checkpoint—that sounds a lot like Wookie. Thanks to Wose who made the initial donation to Wookie’s memorial checkpoint.
Shageluk has been designated as the Smoochers’ checkpoint. Why Shageluk? I explained to AJ the purpose of the Smoochers and we decided Shageluk would be fitting for the Smoochers. It is the first checkpoint after Iditarod, and it is a long run of hill after hill. The Smoochers can tend to tired muscles while AJ feeds the dogs.
1:18 pm on December 28th, 2012
Fellow Sibers? What is this about Mike Ellis and his Sibers doing a race this weekend? Is there a website? I read your post yesterday morning then fell apart after I read about Wookie, and I forgot about your post until today.
I can’t wait to hear about the Royal Mum’s day. My mom would be having a meltdown for sure.
1:20 pm on December 28th, 2012
The house is ready, the presents are wrapped. Although to be honest, at least 3 of the presents were just purchased yesterday at a REALLY big sale.
Why do we do this, you ask. Because the Florida relatives insist on getting together for Christmas, and if we don’t do it here, they make us go to their (cramped, overheated, cluttered, dark, uncomfortable) house and eat (lousy, unseasoned, overcooked, sparse) leftovers from their big Christmas Eve buffet dinner with their children, grandchildren and assorted others.
Plus, they live an hour away ( thank dog) and they always want us to come at 5. But our critters eat THEIR dinner at 5. So rather than inconvenience our four footed family, we have people here.
And the only thing we asked anyone to bring was a small bag of ice, and whatever beverages they personally want to drink, since we always get complaints about not having icky, sugary sodas
We are taking bets about who gets the worst present from Ichabod and the Queen of Imaginary Illness. Since we have gotten a $5 turtleneck from Wally’s (always wrong size and color) for the past 3 years, we think we have a good shot again this year. Last year, by accident she gave the Storyteller a shirt she had gotten for her husband. When she realized the error, she asked for the shirt back.
Yup. We got us some classy relatives

Siber, Mike Ellis and Team Tsuga Sibes are running the “Top of the World 350” right now. It looks like almost all have reached the first checkpoint, with Ellis in 17th position (although for some reason his bib # is now listed as 6 inatead of 5).
Here is a url for watching as they update the checkpoint standings.

Rebecca, A checkpoint in memory of Wookie is a wonderful idea.
Both the checkpints you mentioned are in need of donations, correct?
I’ll wait till Dawson gets home and settled in and can keep track, and then I can hit mom up for some more donation money.
1:27 pm on December 28th, 2012
Thank you, Fellow Sibers, and we hope your mom gets to feeling better soon.
1:33 pm on December 28th, 2012
Good Morning. It is still morning here. I would like to thank all you Plunderers and Lurkers for your thoughts of our family with the loss of our Mom. She went quickly and peacefully with the love of her family surrounding her.
Catching up on the blog, I see that Wookie has also went to a more peaceful place. He will forever live on in our hearts and minds as a multi talented friend with a gentle spirit. I am grateful for the time we had with him and that we can truly call him “friend”. Rest in Peace, dear Wookie. Condolences to your family.
Checkpoint Action: I have not yet unpacked the Checkpoint Data but the above announcement is duly noted and will be recorded soon.
Right now I have a car that seems to be frozen solid and a very messy house to keep me occupied.
Wolfie: I will be in on the Memorial on Dec. 30th.
2:01 pm on December 28th, 2012
SiberH: You are correct, both checkpoints are still taking donations.
Dawson: I’m so glad you made it home safe and sound and too a messy house to keep you occupied.
2:25 pm on December 28th, 2012
Siber-H: That is a good idea to wait until Dawson is settled in from her long trip.
We know the Wookie Memorial Checkpoint at Nikolai will be fully funded before we know it. On second thought…better SDD Dawson NOW.
Wose: What a lovely thing for you to do.
Oh, Hi, Dawson: Home to a mess…O’boy…what a “neat” way to keep occupied.
2:28 pm on December 28th, 2012
Good idea, Bear, I will SDD Dawson also and then break the news to mom that this will be sooner rather than later.
Wose, Thank you for thinking of this.
2:39 pm on December 28th, 2012
*****RED ALERT*****
Look over to the right. The facebookie post tells us the name of Chet and Bernie number Six!!!
I love it.
2:41 pm on December 28th, 2012
Did youse notice the Facebookie announcement to the right? The title ofthe next book is not any of the ones the Plunderers submitted. Sob.
2:42 pm on December 28th, 2012
Double-Sob. A cat beat us to the post. 🙁
2:42 pm on December 28th, 2012
Thanks Staff! We love it too!
2:43 pm on December 28th, 2012
Heh heh heh. The Cat’s Meow is faster than the Dog in the manger.
3:00 pm on December 28th, 2012
Now can we all share our title ideas sent in that didn’t win? Can we ? Can we ?
3:10 pm on December 28th, 2012
Howlers: You should know by now…Kats rule!
3:22 pm on December 28th, 2012
So will it be anything like Faulkner’s novel? (Not the easiest of novels to read but I love it.)
3:30 pm on December 28th, 2012
Awwwww. We liked our title better. “Dog on a Hot Tin Woof”.
We talked to Melanie. Zoe is doing substantially better, is clear headed and out of the druggy fog the hospital had kept her in. She stood up straight today. Not walking quite yet, but they are starting to talk about what rehab center she will be going to very soon.
Three Cheers for Zoe!!!
3:32 pm on December 28th, 2012
HIP HIP HOORAY!
3:35 pm on December 28th, 2012
To Zoe!!!
3:46 pm on December 28th, 2012
Very good news about Zoe!!
3:54 pm on December 28th, 2012
Good on you, Zoe!!!
3:59 pm on December 28th, 2012
Tupper&Gilly: We must say…your title was a Winner…in our book.
Looks like y’all are in for an interesting day (evening). It’s your job to help your mama keep her cool.
O.Howlers: To hear all the (rejected-sob) titles…sounds like fun.
4:07 pm on December 28th, 2012
Hooray for Zoe!
I see several checkpoint donations have come into the email. I have located my checkpoint data so rest assured that I will get everything up to date by tomorrow at the latest.
Car is started so I’m going for a drive.
4:07 pm on December 28th, 2012
T&G, thank Dog for some good news, finally. Hooray for our girl Zoe!
We are looking forward to hearing about your mama’s fun tonight. heh heh
“Cage ‘n Adventures”
4:08 pm on December 28th, 2012
Thanks for letting us know about Zoe T&G.
My title was, “The Dog Who Came in from the Cold.”
4:09 pm on December 28th, 2012
Howlers’ title fits right in to the location. I like it.
4:15 pm on December 28th, 2012
B: Not bad, not bad…but it appears they were looking for a more “Southern” sounding title. If only the locale had been “over the pond”…..
4:16 pm on December 28th, 2012
Thanks, Bee. We just got back from a nice pre-snow walk. We had the two old ladies with us, so it was a very short walk. But we had fun and almost got us a fuzzbut. Kat is so funny when they walk her on a leash. She keeps stopping to turn around and give a very dirty look to whomever is holding her back with a leash.
4:20 pm on December 28th, 2012
My Two-legged is moving like her old, stray Howard used to move. Slow and stiff. I jumped up on her today so she wouldn’t have to bend over to give me attention. Everyone politely followed my example when she was cleaning the kennel this morning. They all jumped up for a love, just like we’ve been taught so she didn’t have to bend down. Leonard, the dog not the Storyteller, over did it a bit and almost pushed her over. My Two-legged says he is a love and a young guy who is still learning to be gentle. I think I will become his mentor.
4:24 pm on December 28th, 2012
Winner!…I love!love!love! Dog On A Hot Tin Woof…snort!snort!…Wait, that’s not the one they chose?…burp!…I’m not too sure about that other one, unless it makes sense to the story line…grump!
4:25 pm on December 28th, 2012
Gripe!…It still ticks me off that all the big announcements are made on that facebookie thing…grunt!…He couldn’t wait one more day and post it on this here blog first?…wheeze!
4:29 pm on December 28th, 2012
Back!…Rebecca someone here cannot bend over either…sniff!…She shoveled snow the other day and twisted wrong. It’s like two old people live here now….grunt!
4:32 pm on December 28th, 2012
O.Howlers: Very clever…Cage N Adventure! (sorry…a bit slow today on the pickup)
SnowBella: With all that Love you will feel tip top in no time!
4:36 pm on December 28th, 2012
What was everybody else’s title?
4:37 pm on December 28th, 2012
Rio: You make sure to stay on your friend’s lap so she stays still and her back can rest.
4:57 pm on December 28th, 2012
I am frigging cold! Finally home. Exhausted. My title didn’t win.
AND I just heard from Zoe. She is being moved to REHAB TOMORROW!!!!
I will catch up on this at some point. Like next summer?
4:59 pm on December 28th, 2012
Yip yip Yipee!
Another donation to the Shake your Booty fund!!! Whoo Hooo we are now at 764.00 and someone better donate 1 or 6 or 11 dollars so I don’t have to do actual MATH dammit.
In honor of the holidays…

5:01 pm on December 28th, 2012
Hot Dog (of course)
And Dog Gone Easy
5:08 pm on December 28th, 2012
Our Zoe is SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
5:10 pm on December 28th, 2012
We like all of the Plunderers titles so far, but Dog Gone Easy is our very favorite.
Here is how it will be, according to Mom who knows everything: Spence always has separate winners on Fb and this here blog. So he will almost certainly pick the best Plunderer title and have our very own version of the new book printed, to be made available only to us Plunderers.
Don’t anybody pinch us…we are enjoying this dream.
5:12 pm on December 28th, 2012
I vote…Let us all take it easy for the rest of the week.
We can catch up later…time for a kat nap.
5:14 pm on December 28th, 2012
O.Howlers: We share your Dream of Plunderer Glory!
5:16 pm on December 28th, 2012
Zoe, you go girl! WhoooooooHooooooo!!!
5:19 pm on December 28th, 2012
Whispering: I think that’s a terrible title…especially “furry.”
5:22 pm on December 28th, 2012
Howlers: Yeah, right….
5:27 pm on December 28th, 2012
The title TSATF is not bad, but our fav is Cat ON a Hot Tin Woof. That took place in the south. Dog Gone Easy is great too, because New Orleans is called the Big Easy. Maybe it was too close to Dog On It, but we still love it.
Barb didn’t submit any, because she is a dud in the creativity department.
We got a card today from Wookie. It was delayed because it got sent to our old address and was then forwarded. Barb cried all over again when she opened it.
5:34 pm on December 28th, 2012
Bella and Golinka, please check SDD. Going to take a nap.
5:36 pm on December 28th, 2012
Title!…One of mine was “Dog Gone With the Wind”…grunt!…I knew it wouldn’t be chosen…heh!
5:38 pm on December 28th, 2012
Title2!…I was fond of “Shake Rattle and Creole”…sniff!
5:40 pm on December 28th, 2012
Rio, we like Shake, Rattle, and Creole!
5:45 pm on December 28th, 2012
I like “Cage n’ Adventure.”
5:45 pm on December 28th, 2012
Oops, we meant Dog On a Hot Tin Woof, not cat!
Rio, We like yours too!
OK, Here are a couple of shots of the Johnson litter, taken over the holidays.

5:47 pm on December 28th, 2012
And this one includes the star attraction, Gus Gus.
5:48 pm on December 28th, 2012
Stover!…I don’t like it very much either. I was really expecting something amazing I guess…sniff!…Furry! Phooey!
5:49 pm on December 28th, 2012
Barb!…Are those your grandkids or are they models?…snort!
5:49 pm on December 28th, 2012
Great looking litter! Maggie, ask Barb to check her SDD.
5:52 pm on December 28th, 2012
Masquers, I am so glad you loved Les Miserables. Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway were just fabulous, weren’t they?
5:53 pm on December 28th, 2012
What you say we list all the Plunderer titles in a special post here on the blog?
Heh! Great photo of the Johnson kiddos.
5:56 pm on December 28th, 2012
Barb, the Johnson kids are just gorgeous!
6:00 pm on December 28th, 2012
I know, Rio. They sort of look like they should be in a GAP ad.
I will tell Barb to check her SDD.
6:04 pm on December 28th, 2012
The rents are going out for dinner and believe it or not, they are letting us spend the time outside under the Full Moon! AWOOOO!
6:05 pm on December 28th, 2012
Wose: As Masquers is taking the aforementioned cat-nap, I will answer for him: “the cast was suburb…the music wonderful…surprising performances by all”. In essence…Wow!!!
Next on the list: Cirque du Soleil
6:06 pm on December 28th, 2012
Yes! The Full (Siber Wolf) Moon.
6:07 pm on December 28th, 2012
They are beautiful Barb.
6:17 pm on December 28th, 2012
Dawson: Please check your SDD!
B&M: I was thinking your litter looks like a Gap ad, too. What a good looking bunch.
6:19 pm on December 28th, 2012
Faulkner took his title from Macbeth…one of my favorite soliloquies. I hope Spence isn’t serious.
6:21 pm on December 28th, 2012
Ahem…I have another important announcement to make. I am pleased to tell you that Wookie’s memorial checkpoint has been fully funded. (pause for applause)
6:24 pm on December 28th, 2012
Serious!…Stover, I do believe it’s serious because of the photograph of the guy with a mock-up of the new cover art…Probably a gift to the guy for coming up with such a “clever” (cough) title…grunt!
6:26 pm on December 28th, 2012
App-paws!….Wooooo!…that was the quickest ever fully funded checkpoint!…Wow!Wow!…sob!sob!sob!..Wookie, i miss you…sniffle!
6:31 pm on December 28th, 2012
Bear, the Prof and I hope that Les Miserables wins best picture at the Academy Awards. It was the best picture we saw this year.
6:34 pm on December 28th, 2012
Fitting for such a honorable gentleman!
6:34 pm on December 28th, 2012
App-paws! I am so happy that Wookie’s checkpoint was funded this quickly. sob. Thank you all who contributed. sob.
Love you, Wookie
6:35 pm on December 28th, 2012
I guess I won’t be reading the next Chet and Bernie novel.
6:35 pm on December 28th, 2012
My suggestion for the new book was “Bone on the Bayou.”
6:40 pm on December 28th, 2012
Rose!….Bone On The Bayou!!…snort!snort!…I love it!…heh!…Now I have two favorites!
6:44 pm on December 28th, 2012
Bee, please reconsider. You MUST read the next C & B! Just scratch thru the title if you don’t like it.
6:45 pm on December 28th, 2012
There were a lot of really terrific title options. Wow!
So much talent on this here blog.

I believe I was on the I-can’t-come-up-with-a-title bench next to Barb. I am enjoying hearing all the ideas and have no complaints with the title. I have learned there are two things you shouldn’t judge by the title: books and evil pugs.
6:50 pm on December 28th, 2012
Stover!… I love your title too..snort!…”The Dog Who Came in from the Cold.”…sniff!…My only thought is they probably didn’t want another title starting with “The Dog Who” so soon after the other one…grunt!…But it is a great title. I wonder if they will use some of the great titles that were submitted later on…hmmmm!

Laissez Dog Bone Roullet (Donna)
The Dog Easy (Me)

French!…It would have been fitting to have a little French flair in the title for sure!…heh!heh!
Rebecca!…How is your back this afternoon?…sniff!…I say you should stay off the deck for the whole winter…grunt!

Wookie’s dad here.
I don’t even know where to begin. Thank you so much to SQ/PA for such a lovely memorial tribute to our golden boy, Wookie. Our relationship with Wookie was very much a two-way street, and for all the love we gave him, he reciprocated in full with love and joy of overwhelming abundance.
And a heartfelt thank you to all of the Plunderers for all your comforting words. If someone had the foresight to invest in tissue futures (eh, Bernie), they would have made a killing based on Chevy Chase alone. While we are still reeling from the loss, the love, caring and support in all that you have said has helped so very much in our dealing with this. Earlier this year Debbie had said that she just hoped that Wookie could make it to Christmas, and his final gift to us was just that.
One last thing, especially for B. Stover. Having secured and read the first chapter of the sixth Chet and Bernie adventure, Wookie made it very clear that this was going to be the best one yet, and I know how very disappointed he would be if it went unread by anyone on the blog.
Thank you all again so very much for everything.

Gasp!…For a second there I thought Wookie had come back …snuffle!…Just his ole Paw and Maw…(((sigh)))
7:25 pm on December 28th, 2012
Thank you Wookie’s dad. I’ll read it for Wookie’s sake even though that title ridicules Faulkner’s novel.
7:26 pm on December 28th, 2012
Paw!…It is good to hear from you guys, and I do hope you and grandpa are holding up okay…snort!…Did you hear about Wookie’s second checkpoint getting funded in record time?…heh!sniffle~…Take care youse guys!
7:30 pm on December 28th, 2012
Paw and Debbie LM…I did not purposely leave her out of my last post…snort!…I was distracted…grunt!

Wookie’s dad & mom: Thank you for stopping by today. There are no words we can say to make the pain any less. Sending love and hugs instead.
7:36 pm on December 28th, 2012
“Life’s but…a tale/Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,/Signifying nothing” (Macbeth 5, 5, 16). (The first section of Faulkner’s novel is told by the idiot Benjy. The same story is told in other sections by Quenton, Jason, two other brothers, and Dilsey, the maid.)

Thank you Wookie’s mom and dad for checking in with us. Between Maggie and Wookie, the tears here just keep flowing.
7:44 pm on December 28th, 2012
🙂 Checkpoint Alert 😉
Wookie’s checkpoint and the Smoochers checkpoints are both fully OVER-funded! I will have to divert funds to new checkpoints or return funds!
7:54 pm on December 28th, 2012
🙂 Shiek and Leo & Friends Checkpoint is fully funded! 🙂
Oh…I see I am a little late on the checkpoint updates (blush) and my admin had to come in and announce Wookie’s checkpoint being totally funded…who knew the donations would flow like a waterfall? I’m back now, Admin, and will try to focus. We will just say that Wookie’s checkpoint is from all the Plunderers.
7:55 pm on December 28th, 2012
“Bone on the Bayou”…I love that one!
8:01 pm on December 28th, 2012
Thank you for stopping by Maury and Debbie, and don’t leave us.
I am overjoyed that Wookie’s checkpoint and the Smoochers has been fully funded.
Just a suggestion, Dawson, but it would be too much work to return bits and pieces of donations to the nice people who donated to those two checkpoints. You could use the extra toward other checkpoints or donate it to the Bootie Fund.
8:07 pm on December 28th, 2012
Ah More good news. The horses now have a fully funded checkpoint.
All of this must be unique in the history of fundraising for an Iditarod team and musher. How cool is that!

Hi Wöökie’s Dad and Mom, I’m right there with you.

Midnight in the Garden of Dogs & Cats, Bone on the Bayou. There are so many good ones (that didn’t win) we have lost count.
When you can’t keep your cawfee hot or your champagne cold it is time to call it a day.
So I say – Goodnight to all – Bear
8:52 pm on December 28th, 2012
Rio: I am glad your friend stayed fairly still today. I had to go into town so I am taking this time to use my gift card with just enough on it for a movie ticket to see Les Miserables. I am waiting for the previews to start. Yeep!
9:04 pm on December 28th, 2012
Movie!…Yeep!…Someone here is thinking about doing that this weekend since there are so many good ones to choose from…snort!…It is a good way to “get out of the house”…heh!heh!
9:08 pm on December 28th, 2012
Bone on the Bayou! That is a fantastic title.
Rents are home and stuffed to the gill with their favorite French food, including a superbly decadent holiday dessert called Buche de Noel. Ooh la la!
And us? We were hunting under the Full Cold Moon! AWOOO! Now we are all hunkered down (ale in paw) awaiting the morning snow.
9:12 pm on December 28th, 2012
Ale!…In Paw!…snort!…I love it!…heh!heh!….Can I come live with you Howlers for a few days, just till the Ale is all gone or it is New Years day – whichever comes first?…snorkel!
9:20 pm on December 28th, 2012
heh heh heh! New Years would definitely come first!

Mom has a George Washington Porter (his own recipe) in a pewter mug. And Paw has a Celebration Ale in…get this: a Stormy Kromer koozie!

Back!…Well, my friend is turning into Melanie…sniff!…Not a bad thing, but I’ve never seen the heating pad being used so much…grunt!…Good thing she stayed home today, even though her back is not getting any better…wuffle!
10:04 pm on December 28th, 2012
Rio, Tell your friend to take a warm bath and make an appointment for a massage, or a chiropractor, or both.
10:10 pm on December 28th, 2012
Howlers!…I can never tell my friend to do anything…sniff!…I yeep!yeep!yeep! at her a lot, but mostly she does not understand me..grunt!…When I put actions with Yeeping, then sometimes she gets it…wheeze!…Like when I really need to go Out!Out!Out!…gruffle!…She gets that.
10:12 pm on December 28th, 2012
We agree that our 2-leggeds can frustrate the crap out of us. Try walking on her back. It might feel so good that she decides to get professional help. Or….it could hurt her so much that she will decide to get professional help.
10:23 pm on December 28th, 2012
Line!…I know! There is a fine line between Yeeping for help or Yeeping for joy…heh!…Sometimes Beau jumps into someones lap and she Yeep!Yeeps! because of his pointy little paws grinding into her thighs or stomach…grunt!..He has no real lap technique yet….gruffle!
10:24 pm on December 28th, 2012
We are signing off…nighty pasta to all!
10:56 pm on December 28th, 2012
Oh my dog – they finally left.
There is too much to tell tonight, but lets just say that Icabod who obsesses about his diabetes ate almost a whole box of petit fours and chocolates by himself, and line dancing aunt insisted on showing us her routine for “Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeney Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”.
The Story teller snorted soda out his nose, and my nephew may need therapy.
Ya can’t make this stuff up.
G’night all. Taking a sleeping pill and hoping this has all been just a dream…..
11:05 pm on December 28th, 2012
HA!…I never ever laugh, but I think I just did…chorkel!…HA!
11:13 pm on December 28th, 2012
Oh the poor storyteller. It hurts when you snort soda out your nose. We look forward to further stories once you have rested up.
We are going to bed also. No sleeping pill though. Nighty noodle all you plunderers. Both up and Down Under…
11:33 pm on December 28th, 2012
