Winner!
Here’s Buddy-Boy, June’s Friend of the Month at chetthedog.com! Selected by a random number generator, don’t forget. Random number generator turns out to be a real person! She arrives in a white panel truck and lugs a big tool kit. Anyway, congratulations, Buddy-Boy! Whoever sent in Buddy-Boy’s photo, please email Spence a mailing address so he can get you your prize – a signed copy of To Fetch A Thief (spence.quinn@gmail.com). Also, Buddy-Boy’s picture will be on display in the special Friend of the Month spot (replacing good ol’ Ian) for the month of June.
Spence says not to forget that there are two ways to win because there’s also a Friend of the Month over at my FB page. This month’s FB winner will be announced today. Spence also says that if you’ve already sent in a photo at either place you’re automatically eligible for future months. If you’re not here or on the FB page already, just send in a picture, as BuddyRoe, Tilly, and Lacey did today (welcome!).

Congrats, Buddy Boy! Ian is almost gone, Thank Dog.
Hope everyone is safe today. Cold an windy here, good day to stay in and read. Wookie’s mom and dad and Barb are both reading the same book, Laura Levine’s Killer Blonde. Small world. Now we have to order Until Tuesday, and The Search.
9:11 am on June 2nd, 2011
Welcome Buddy-Boy.
Good morning all.
9:27 am on June 2nd, 2011
There was no sailboat race last night. Too much wind. There were gusts up to 42mph. Mom said she and the rest of the race committee sat on the dock and ate the food they would have eaten later. The wind blew the lake water down to our end of the lake so the committee boat was so high above the dock that it was hard to get into. just one guy went in. He had to get the beer!
9:36 am on June 2nd, 2011
Buddy-Boy looks like a laid back dude! Hope he comes by and says hello.
MollyPop: Once in VA, we decided to go sailing in our bonito sailboat. That’s not ours below, (this was over 30 years ago) but see how the back is open?
Well, our family was having a huge get together and we were determined to sail even the wind was unbelievable! We had ten people on a 14 foot sailboat. It was submerged, that’s where the open back comes in, and was going at quite a clip. People would fall off and we swing around and get them. It wasn’t dangerous. The river there was only 3 1/2 feet high!
We bent the mast!
Good morning everyone!
9:37 am on June 2nd, 2011
Good for you Buddy Boy. You look like a good sized, good natured dog.
More scary storms last night. Stay safe you Plunderers. I’m up North where the sun is shining brightly and the hockey team is on their way to winning the Stanley Cup. Whooo Hoooo. Lots of cars honking horns last night after winning the first game. Tight game. 1 – 0.
I will get “Until Tuesday”. It sounds like a great book. Our service dogs protect our loved ones in war zones and also at home with PTSD and other disabilities.

Hmmmphf!….snort!
9:38 am on June 2nd, 2011
Oh yeah,

9:39 am on June 2nd, 2011
What are hmmmphfing about Riö?
9:39 am on June 2nd, 2011
Congratulations Buddy-boy. I’m sorry to say goodbye to Ian, he’s so handsome with his teddy bear!
9:46 am on June 2nd, 2011
Melanie, I think I know what the hmmpht is about, and I agree! Get thee gone, Ian, and your teddy bear (cute or not).
9:56 am on June 2nd, 2011
Mollypop: A very necessary reason for getting in the boat no matter how difficult!
Hey B&M!
We had a record low last night: 40. Lovely walking weather now–sunny and 60.
10:00 am on June 2nd, 2011
Rio is hummmphfing because he didn’t win.
10:03 am on June 2nd, 2011
Ohhhh, I was going to put in the Kentucky Pole Beans today. But they are calling for very cold temps tonight, so that’s not happening!
10:08 am on June 2nd, 2011
Hmmmphf!…. I’m huffling for two reasons…snort!.. ONE – who the hell wrote Chet’s post today? It wasn’t Chet, and it sure wasn’t Admin and Spence….grunt!….TWO – Now we have to stare at Buddy Boy all damn month long … grump!
10:15 am on June 2nd, 2011
Rio: What makes you think Chet didn’t write today’s post?
10:17 am on June 2nd, 2011
One of the kids whose school Spence visited yesterday wrote on Chet’s Facebook page.
10:23 am on June 2nd, 2011
Style!…Its not his style…grump!
10:26 am on June 2nd, 2011
Chet!…I come here to read what Chet or those other two knuckleheads have to say…grump!…Not some YeeHaw-Ad from a Marketing Bozo…snort!
10:29 am on June 2nd, 2011
Someone sent me an email with photoshopped English hats.
I’m putting up a few over the day. Just to have fun!
10:36 am on June 2nd, 2011
Today’s post contains instructions and they are similar to the instructions posted for the same reason last month.
Hats. Let’s see….What rhymes with “hat.”
10:47 am on June 2nd, 2011
Bozo!…The same Bozo wrote that post last month…snort!…Probably the “brain” who came up with the Friend of the Month idea in the first place…grump!
Hat!…That hat is disturbing….grunt!… Everything is disturbing me this morning…sniff!…I need to go outside and chase some squirrels or Blue Jays…growl!…Those Blue Jays are mean nasty birds and they have got to go!!!!!!!!!!!!
10:50 am on June 2nd, 2011
Melanie, That is the famous Beatrice hat. It sold for $130,00 at auction, right? And that was without the little hitchhiker.
10:57 am on June 2nd, 2011
Just wait . . . Here’s another!
11:10 am on June 2nd, 2011
Rio, as bad as things look, there is always a bright side. In this case, it’s Ubaldo — 9 innings of shutout ball, NO WALKS, 7 strikeouts, and a 3-0 win over the Dodgers. June is looking up based on that alone. Wookie the baseball optimist
11:15 am on June 2nd, 2011
That looks like Braveheart, portrayed by a guy who we now refuse to watch. For so many reasons!
Got your recipe, Melanie. Have 1 leek growing in the garden. Now I know what I will do with it.
Those bastards have now eaten our only remaining zuchinni plant and have started on the cherished tomoatoes. We are tying orange plastic tape to everyting!
11:26 am on June 2nd, 2011
Barb, if you don’t have enough orange tape I find that plastic grocery bags tied to the tomato cage make a satisfying snap and crackle when there is any wind at all. Very effective.
11:27 am on June 2nd, 2011
PS, Our basil made it overnight without being eaten. I better go check it again. BBL
11:35 am on June 2nd, 2011
Even though we have a new Friend of the Month (sort of) Ian still appears! (Is it just me, or is there a sadness to his expression this morning?)
Melanie: That boat looks very small to us to hold all those people. You were all very brave in 3 1/2 ft of water. tee,hee
(p.s. Did u get yesterday’s email with the attachment?)
Barb&Maggie: Oh, no! Not the prized tomatoes! Hopefully, the orange tape will solve the problem. Seems you got through Unbroken rather quickly. About half way through here. As we mentioned before, we feel like we’re right there, but it is a place we would rather not be.
Good Morning to All!
12:26 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Wookie!….Finally some good news!!…snort!….I feel better already. We had to go to bed before the game was over last night and I have been grumping around all morning trying to stay out of her mother’s way…sniff!….She says because of me wanting in and out all day long, the house is full of millers…grunt!…I can’t help it if millers want to come in the house …grumble!
12:30 pm on June 2nd, 2011
BSD, no I didn’t receive one. But then the internet went whonky during the storm. Still don’t have it though.
Riö: Millers? What does your friend’s mom have against people who make flour?
12:31 pm on June 2nd, 2011
I can just hear them saying this. . .
12:33 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Bear, I am afraid to admit that there is a reason we got through Unbroken so quickly, and it isn’t speed reading. We simply skipped the whole section where he was in the prison camp, and subject to all the mental and physical abuse. Sorry, just couldn’t read it. I know that was bad, but it is the truth.
Staff, we have a huge roll of orange tape, so will never run out, but we had also put up some plastic bags in the bean section. The combo seems to be working so far. Once the plants get a little growth, they seem to leave them alone. The have not eaten any of the 2-week old green beans. BTW, the Kentucky Wonders are doing very well.
12:51 pm on June 2nd, 2011
One more and my personal favorite!
12:57 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Moths!….Miller Moths!…snort!…Not flour makers…heh! heh!…All night long they sit in the bathroom around the little light having a party…..wheeze!….Then every morning her mother kills them all and blames me for the bloodshed…grunt!
1:01 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Congratulations Buddy-Boy!
Yesterday we couldn’t see the mountains or the sun because of smoke from forest fires in NM and AZ. Today is a repeat of yesterday.
Wookie made it to the end of the Rockies game last night!
We got up extra early to go the dog park and then I went to the vet. I had to have a wart removed. It was no big deal. The vet wanted me to be sure to go to the dog park before I went to the clinic. I have no idea why.
Dawson, I am cheering for Canada’s hockey team. It must be the North in my soul.
1:13 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Melanie, you are improving those stupid, stupid, stupid, hats.
Rio, those moths are pretty tasty. The moths haven’t appeared here yet…maybe because of the drought.
1:21 pm on June 2nd, 2011
I’m not doing those Siber-H. They were sent to me.
I seem to be having an off day. Just lounging around, doing some reading, checking in, minding The Pack and waiting for D & Z to come back home. Every time I try to do something that consists of brain work, my brain goes zzzzzztttttttsssss.
Must be left over electrons from the storm.
1:21 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Melanie: Will try sending again…
1:32 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Got it BSD!! Looks delish!!
1:51 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Dan’s back. He has a Sebaceous Cyst, and if you want to get grossed out you can look it up.
The doc cleaned it out and hit it with liquid nitrogen and it should be fine.
Dan will go back in about 3 weeks and see if everything is cleared up.
Slightly grossed out here!
2:23 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Well, I’m glad the doctor could do something about Dan’s cyst.
I’ve put two things on dishlichers: The entire Astrid Case from the blog. I put it in its own file. (Rio cut and pasted it together and it goes from the beginning of the case until December 14, 2010, when Spence stopped posting it. It’s 22 pages long.) I also posted the explanation of the name “Plunderers” from the blog post of January 20, 2011. I put that in the Save file.
2:24 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Dishlickers!…. Melanie, my friend has some photos but she still doesn’t have an recipes to go with them…. huffle!
3:05 pm on June 2nd, 2011
I’ve been wondering about McKey’s My Ribs. I’m tempted just to put in how he created it and then a link to the video.
Rather tired here!
3:29 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Photos!… My friend Is going to pick me up tonight and we are going over to my house to water the grass and the flowers…sniff!…After we get back from that she said she will finish her one recipe for Cabbage Rolls and attach the photo to the email….grunt! …Is Melanie pulling out the photo’s from the Dishlickers email account or are you guys sending the photos directly to her? ….snort!
3:34 pm on June 2nd, 2011
I have a bunch of recipes, but I think only 1 photo.
3:35 pm on June 2nd, 2011
B: Thanks for that!
Hey! What happened to my last post? We were saying congratulations to Buddy for his big win on Facebook. So here it is again:
CONGRATS TO BUDDY, A FELLOW PLUNDERER, FOR BEING FACEBOOK’S FRIEND OF THE MONTH FOR JUNE!!! (We have 2 Buddies this month. heh, heh)
3:38 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Rio: I send my last photo directly to Melanie because it had not been enclosed with the recipe on dish.
3:47 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Rio: You should send the photos directly to Melanie. Barb will get the recipe from dishlickers.
3:49 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Cool! Howlers’ Buddy is FB Friend of the Month. Beautiful cat!
4:47 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Oh man, My fellow Siberians are never going to hear the end of this, but congratulations, Buddy!
5:02 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Buddy’s!….grump!….Now I know this contest is rigged….snort!
5:12 pm on June 2nd, 2011
OHowlers: Is Buddy giving you a bad time? Seems to me there was a prediction yesterday on his part…
5:16 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Riö, oh Riö, your turn will come!
(Congrats Buddy!!!)
5:24 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Barb: I just read that goat milk/cheese is becoming very popular here in the US, as it has been for a long time in Europe. Farmers are choosing to raise goats instead of cows as it is more cost effective; they then sell the goat milk to local cheese-makers.
I agree with you about Unbroken. It’s a bit tough to get through some parts of it. Unbelievable, though, what those POW’s went through during the war.
6:06 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Bear, I think Barb is going to try to make some, once the babies don’t need all of Sandy’s milk. We have found goat cheese here, but not at our little local store. It sells for about 5.00 for a little roll, and looks sort of like feta. I think feta is made from all or part sheep’s milk. One recipe we found was very simple, just heat it to 185 degrees, cool, add some lemon juice, drain and roll in cheese cloth. Cool and it is ready to eat.
I know I should have read that part of the book, but what can I say, it was painful so I chickened out.
6:59 pm on June 2nd, 2011
I think we’ve passed the deadline for sending recipes to dishlickers – B, aren’t you editing now?
7:03 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Hmmm Liz, We might have to set back the date a bit . . . I’m still needing photos. I’ll be able to get to them this weekend. (now that YSAS is back in NYC)
7:20 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Liz: No it isn’t too late. We’re giving it another week.
7:22 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Arrrgggh!!! Tech-Support says, “Connect the modem to the wan port and the router to the lan port on the cell tower, and while you’re at it reboot the router and discount power on the cell tower and then reset it also. We’ll call you back in an hour. Ha,Ha, Don’t call us, we’ll call you!
7:22 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Thank Dogness!
I think we’re having the weather you had B.Stover and someone else (?). It was hot, the storms came through and now it hasn’t reached 60 today. Shiver.
Not sure how long I’ll be on tonight. My hands are in bad shape. Weather related.
7:36 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Melanie: We, for one, have had cooler weather. 60’s today, but with a promise of warmer temps tomorrow and 70 on Saturday. Enough chilliness already – we are ready for some summer sun!
7:38 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Hey Plunderers! Whats new? 🙂
7:40 pm on June 2nd, 2011
For the love of Dog, Chet….why would you call Buddy a Plunderer and name him your FB Friend of the Month? Now he is really believing he is one of us. It was bad enough when he would drink from our water bowls, eat from our food bowls, hog our doggie beds. But now, the outside world is calling him a for-real Plunderer! Jeez.
7:43 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Bernie says this is what the random # generator lady did, and that’s that.
7:48 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Don’t you worry, Chet. I’m not one of those prissy-type cats. I’m a real he-man and fearless. You and I can be great friends. Thank you to the R#G Lady, and to you, who I greatly admire. My Mom read all your books to me. In fact, it was me who had to keep her calm thru all the scary parts.
The Howlers like to talk tough, but believe me, they love me too. They keep wanting to take me hunting with them, but Mom never lets me go outside, for some reason.
7:50 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Heh, heh Masquers here. A Big congrats to Buddy! Hurray for our side!
7:53 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Good Grief, Masquers! Get your own avatar. No Kat Komments here please!
7:54 pm on June 2nd, 2011
OleyHowlers: Kats are furry four footers too!
Just finished watching the episode on “The Closer” when Fritz brings home the kitten. Very cute kat!
I have had great Kats. In fact I have had Kats almost all my life, but it would be a bit much to bring in a kitten with this bunch!
7:56 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Bee, Do you want me to sort what I have so far and mail to you on Monday, or do you want me to wait 1 more week?
8:00 pm on June 2nd, 2011
We finished reading Down the Rabbit Hole. Thats a great book! Just downloaded Behind the Curtain to the Kindle. So, maybe we can make it thru til September after all!
Unbroken was tough to read. We kept reading it though. Wishing and hoping for the end….and every time we thought it couldn’t get worse, it did.
8:01 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Melanie, Is the Closer somewhere on tv or do you have it saved? Her new season (and last) is starting in July, I think. Love that show.
Does anyone watch Men of a Certain Age on TNT? New season started last night, and we really like it.
8:09 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Alright Oley and Bear, we get the wuss award for failure to read the entire Unbroken.
8:15 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Buddy – congrats, fellow feline 🙂
and congrats to Buddy-Boy from the nation.
Random that you both are blonde…
8:16 pm on June 2nd, 2011
We’re watching with Netflix DVDs. We have to wait until June 21st for the next season to come on DVD’s. That isn’t too bad of a wait. We have 2 episodes left of this one.
I did down load Nora Roberts (I think it was called) “The Search”. I think Barb mentioned it, MagPie. Don’t usually read NR, we read JD . . .
Which is sort of funny. But we couldn’t resist the Search and Rescue tie in.
A long time ago, I started and got Zoë interested in Virginia Lanier’ books. Search and Rescue Bloodhounds. Takes place in the South.
Her main character could really rile up those good ol’ boys. (Not you, of course, Mr. Redbone Hound)
Well, I’m off to rest my hands. You guys have a great night!
Oh, Bella. About Patches on sleds, how big are they usually?
Thanks.
8:18 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Barb: Let’s wait one more week.
8:19 pm on June 2nd, 2011
I lied, I’m back again. Just had to put up a colored pencil sketch of a KAT that OTAS’s F is working on.
In praise of all the KATS on the Blog! (don’t chase this one Chet)

8:29 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Yippee there Buddy Boy! Whoo Hooo and Congratulations from the nation without the nation! The feline nation that is!
If it couldn’t be me I am glad it is a Kat. I am glad it didn’t take too long to integrate this old dog network.
Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh
Now for some important question. Blueberries were 2 for 1 at the store today and now we have 2-1/2 pints. So does anyone have some good recipes? Pies, crumbles, muffins, whatever! Staff is interested if you do.
8:31 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Angela is soo-ooo talented. I can’t believe that is done with pencil Her eyes are spectacular. Totally amazing.
8:54 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Buddy: Way to go you lucky cat.
Melanie: That cat has wonderful coloring. I hope your hands feel better soon.
Staff: I love blurberry cobbler. Didn’t T&G have that at their dessert party?
I’m off to a reception and no host bar. Don’t think I’ll stay long.
8:57 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Kats!….Too many Kats on this here blog for me…grunt!…Now they are winning prizes they don’t deserve and gloating like they’ve been here forever…sniff!…Plus, I am hot as hell and NO ONE will turn on the air-conditioning for me…wheeze!…This is all too much for me to handle….grumble!
9:03 pm on June 2nd, 2011
That is a beautiful sketch Melanie.
Staff: For blueberry pie or crumble I use a bit of cinnamon instead of lemon.
9:08 pm on June 2nd, 2011
There is T & G’s Blurberry Cobbler that she served at the party. It calls for blueberry pie filling. We made it with fresh blueberries, and added a little more sugar. Plus we didn’t have self-rising flour, so added 1 1/2 tsp baking powder. It was very good and easy.
9:17 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Melanie, that sketch is beautiful!
B&M: Now we are kicking ourselves that we didn’t tivo Men of a Certain Age. We meant to because we read that it was going to be good. We’ll add it for next time.
Rio: We have been hoping to talk to you to say: na-na-na-na-na
9:19 pm on June 2nd, 2011
And thanks to all of the Plunderers for congratulating Buddy for winning FB Friend. And Congrats to Buddy-Boy from the Nation for his win here on the blog. We hope he comes and posts something so we have another Buddy on here.
9:21 pm on June 2nd, 2011
All we can say is, “Yum”!!!
9:42 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Hi from Moi!
9:44 pm on June 2nd, 2011
We love Angela’s sketch, it is so detailed it looks like a photograph. Lovely.
Our library has The Search but it was out. We are on the waiting list for when it comes back in. We also ordered Until Tuesday, through library loan. Finishing up Killer Blonde, which is fast reading.
9:48 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Er, Buddy: How did u upload you avatar. Did u use the same email address?
9:50 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Masquers! you sure look alot like Bear! 🙂
We use a different email address than the Howlers do. You have to register your avatar by email address.
9:58 pm on June 2nd, 2011

10:26 pm on June 2nd, 2011
We are exhausted here!!! What with all the tech stuff Nana is unfamiliar with, new avatars and all. The Good News is Success in all Ventures! Now we are signed off for the day. See you at Dawn’s Early Light! <3 Bear & Masquers
10:26 pm on June 2nd, 2011
It’s been a good, bad and an ugly kind of week. The good is AJ and celebrated our anniversary yesterday, the bad is AJ is away for several days.
Rio: I have nothing against Kats, but I can certainly bring dog power if you’re feeling out numbered. Btw: Annabelle sends her best.
10:31 pm on June 2nd, 2011
We are calling it a day as well. Good night all.
10:38 pm on June 2nd, 2011
SiberH!….Heh!…Did you hear that?….snort! …Annabelle sends her BEST to me!me!me!…woooo! ….Hi Annabelle. It’s me here, Rio saying Hi right back atcha! And all my best stuff too!….sniff! sniff!
10:38 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Good avatar, Masquers!
Rio and Siber, see what we Sibes must put up with here? This is T.C. drinking from Sasha’s water bowl.

10:39 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Rebecca, Please give Dima’s best to Twig.
Good nite to all.
10:49 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Good evening y’all. My heartfelt congratulations to Buddy-Boy and Buddy Kat. I am a particularly easy going type of hound dog -don’t mind Kats at all. Long as they don’t have masks over their eyes and black rings round their tails – can’t stand them critters.
And since y’all have been wantin me to get one of them there avatars, I decided to just post a home movie of some of the family. That way you can see that I am a true Southern Gentleman.

I am feeling very confused. Buddy Boy looks like a dogger, not a Kat. Have I lost my mind?
Help me out, somebody!
10:58 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Ooops, never mind. I see the Kat now. I was looking at the photo of the very handsome dog at the top of the page. It has been a long day…..
11:01 pm on June 2nd, 2011
GOOD GRIEF.
There are two Buddies who won. That is way too confusing! I think I finally got it figured out. I think that there should be a rule that the two winners have different names.
Geez!!!!
11:04 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Hello Wolfie!
11:06 pm on June 2nd, 2011
Rio, I sincerely wish you and Annabelle the very best. You are my pal and pals don’t let women come between them.

Rio, Nattie & Siber-H – See you all tomorrow!
11:21 pm on June 2nd, 2011
