Good morning all! Although it is a horrible morning here and was a horrible night too. Thunder storms and heavy rain, on top of all of those lovely leaves. yuck.
Sage and Brandy up top!

What a wonderful combination: Wine, cheese and Spence! Have a great reading.
Good morning all.
9:24 am on October 19th, 2012
Sam is making me laugh. My brother sent an email message to me with a picture/cartoon: A man dressed in a full-length tiger outfit is holding a large broom and sweeping up plastic glass tops and straws that say “Yankees.” (That’s the cartoon part.) The logo “Made in Detroit” is in the background. (Sorry Sam and Rose.) I wonder if this win means that I have to watch some of the World Series…pondering….
9:50 am on October 19th, 2012
Stover!…You must, you should, please do watch the World Series with all us grunts who only wished with all our hearts that our team could be where
yourthe Tigers are…wuffle!10:03 am on October 19th, 2012
Good morning all. Spence, have fun tonight.
Cold icky day here. Next week we are supposed to see the 70s briefly.
10:38 am on October 19th, 2012
Warmer than the average bear this morning, am I. But 70’s? Haven’t seen those temps in a while.
Yes, B, You must watch the World Series. The Plunderers insist.
10:38 am on October 19th, 2012
Whew!
Got up and read the thermometer, -31.1!! Turns out it is really only -1 and that’s centigrade so it’s about 31 degrees fahrenheit.
B.Stover: Of course you should watch the World Series.
10:39 am on October 19th, 2012
A Rainy Day to you all!
I believe I will have some fake wine, cheese and some “A Fistful of Collars” tonight!
I loved the story and apologies last night. Snicker.
Here is a little bundle of joy! Mia Grace!
10:41 am on October 19th, 2012
Mia Grace is beautiful!!!
10:47 am on October 19th, 2012
Totally adorable. Doesn’t look like the 40 hour + labor bothered her a bit.
10:58 am on October 19th, 2012
Well, it didn’t bother HER! snicker
I believe I just heard thunder.

Dateline – October 20, 2012
Front page of Sports Section:
YANKEES BLAME LOSS ON FALL INTO MYSTERIOS SINKHOLE
The Yankees are demanding a rematch as they suspect foul play in their recent loss. While traveling through northern Colorado, the entire team fell into a Giant hole and were unable to climb out.
“It was a terrifying experience” noted one of the players. “Not only was it dark and dirty, but there was an awful smell. Kind of like Slim Jims mixed with swamp gas”
Officials are investigating
11:39 am on October 19th, 2012
B&M, cracked us up! Labor didn’t bother Mia!
We are rooting for Bee’s team!
Meashka wants to go see Spencer and have wine and cheese in Falmouth, MA. She says no fair that only Dima and Kat have been to Massachusetts. Sasha says she does not want to go. She thinks both Spencer and the wine and cheese should come to her.
11:48 am on October 19th, 2012
Stover, Rio and I will be cheering for the Tigers. We invite you to join us.
The Hot One should get to go see Spence. I would like to go but I am grounded because of all the mess the Denver Post is reporting on. I wasn’t even there. Mom is assuming guilt by association.
11:50 am on October 19th, 2012
Approximately when does the World Series begin? Is it the best of seven?
11:55 am on October 19th, 2012
OleyHowlers, blur on over and you guys and the Pack can have cheese and fake wine or beer if you want. I’ll put on an audio of one of Spencer’s books.
B.Stover. All I know is that it goes on forever.
Do youse guys remember that Chet helped create a sink hole?
11:57 am on October 19th, 2012
The World Series begins on Oct. 24. Yes, it is the best of 7.
12:01 pm on October 19th, 2012
Melanie: That is a good quiz question! My answer is maybe…
12:07 pm on October 19th, 2012
…”the entire team fell in a Giant hole”. Love it!
12:08 pm on October 19th, 2012
Melanie, thanks for the invitation, but we want the real thing. Including the real Spencer.
12:08 pm on October 19th, 2012
That would be “into” and the wine and cheese party sounds good to me.
12:10 pm on October 19th, 2012
Rainy day here in the tri-state area. We’ve decided to spend the day cooking. Since we are on the paleo diet, we don’t use flour, so I made a crustless quiche. Tonight it’s beef stroganoff with crumbled cauliflower filling in for rice. Since this is Donna’s day off, we were going to go upstate to FDR park, but took one look at the skies and forgot that.
Those of us who root for baseball teams in the Bronx can settle for taking the long view, and congratulating themselves on their skills of making dire predictions.

12:14 pm on October 19th, 2012
Thank you Siber H.
The sinkhole memory was in THAT.
12:16 pm on October 19th, 2012
Now thePack is thinking that after the wine and cheese they are headed over to Terry’s!
Are you ready for nine drooling Newfs?
12:27 pm on October 19th, 2012
Good man, Terry, Just in time for Brunch!
12:28 pm on October 19th, 2012
Happiness!
Spencer brings smiles to everyone’s faces. That lucky couple in the picture are looking and feeling good.
Hungry!
Terry has made me hungry, too. Breakfast will have to include tomatoes as there are another dozen ripened today. Yum!
12:29 pm on October 19th, 2012
Greetings!
I have just sat through the first two hours of a boring all-hands meeting at my busy place. YAWN!!!!
Mia Grace is beautiful!
Rio! I Miss talking to you, too. I know you are very happy that the Yankees were swept, but I am not. I cried myself to sleep last night. If I ask you very nicely, would you give me a special pug kiss? Oh, and yes, my hair does look like that after lightning bolts. Maybe the Smoochers will blur you over next week for a look. Just don’t stand too close to my gurney, your tail may straighten out!
B: I hope you had a very nice birthday!
Bear: I loved the bunnies from last night!
12:31 pm on October 19th, 2012
Melanie – Mia is cute, we suppose. For a human anyway. We were kind of expecting puppies.
1:00 pm on October 19th, 2012
Dawson – we planted five tomato plants in the spring, thinking we’d break even if we got ten tomatoes. We got more than a hundred. Two of them were used in this morning’s quiche.

1:24 pm on October 19th, 2012
I hope G&BBs pop is resting comfortably today.
2:21 pm on October 19th, 2012
Barb says she misses her home grown tomatoes! We will build two raised beds here next spring. Is March just around the corner?
2:31 pm on October 19th, 2012
Barb, March is just around the corner, with new hopes for baseball.
2:39 pm on October 19th, 2012
H’mm. . We seem to have Sports Seasons instead of the Four Seasons. Speaking of Vavoldi, why does Spring come first and Winter last?
Anywhoo, I’m going back to sleep.
2:40 pm on October 19th, 2012
With Dawson’s & Barb’s talk of yummy tomatoes and Terry posting a beautiful picture of his harvest we, too, are looking forward to spring. We would be willing to skip over winter in its entirely this year if not for that most anticipated of Plunderer events…the Iditarod.
Right, Wose?
3:09 pm on October 19th, 2012
Bear, this is the most important trip I will ever take in my life!!
3:18 pm on October 19th, 2012
Wose: My two legged is just as excited as I am about your trip north to Alaska. She has started wondering what outerwear they might have that will fit you and the Professor. Maybe she is like a great Dane that doesn’t understand her size compared to a min-pin. As far as hair, she doesn’t need lightening bolts for her hair to look crazy. She just has to wake up each morning.
3:28 pm on October 19th, 2012
We are all very
jealousenvious of Wose.Terry, your tomatoes look yummy. We here still have tomatoes in our fridge and on our windowsill, but unfortunately no longer in our garden.
G&BB, please help keep your mom’s spirits up. We hope your dad is comfortable and thinking positive thoughts.
3:38 pm on October 19th, 2012
Melanie: Vivaldi’s Four Seasons? Spring is the first season of the growing season: plant (in spring), grow (in summer), harvest (in autumn), and die (in winter). Metaphorically the seasons also apply to the “ages of man”: spring (child), summer (man), autumn (old age), winter (death).
3:43 pm on October 19th, 2012
By the way, there is a sonnet to each of the concertos in the Four Seasons set, possibly written by Vivaldi.
3:44 pm on October 19th, 2012
Howlers: My two-legged says the invitation is open to all Plunderers. Plus, I think she has the notion to put a harness on Kat and put her in team next to Junior.
3:52 pm on October 19th, 2012
B.stover. I didn’t know about the sonnets. I’ll have to look them up. I guess my feeling is that if you end with Spring, you end with hope.
Like the tomatoes! Not able to eat Those right now. I’m up to dry toast.
3:55 pm on October 19th, 2012
Belle Starr: Your two-legged has beautiful hair! Prof and I are beginning to think about what we should buy, and how much we can stuff into our carry-on bags. I am the min-pin size, and Prof is a little bigger, about 5’6″. He thinks we should buy stuff when we get to the Great White North, but I think we need to start getting stuff now. What do you think?
OHs: I wish I could bring all youse guys, Siber, and Rio, too!
Also my dear friend, Masquers. Might be able to set up a pick-up at the Seattle Airport.
4:11 pm on October 19th, 2012
Rose: I am counting on that pickup! Working now on how to get through security.
4:19 pm on October 19th, 2012
Masquers, we’ll be waiting at Starbucks for the pick-up. You can snuggle up in my parka.
4:21 pm on October 19th, 2012
G&BB and Karen, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Please update us if you can. Hugs and head bumps to you.
4:22 pm on October 19th, 2012
Wose, I would love to go north with you. My brother and sisters will not need to purchase any warm clothing to pack in their drag-behind bags. But my mom says I will need some warmer clothes. She thinks my fur is not quite up to snuff. Can I go shopping with you when I come up on the 24th (after your hair calms down of course).
4:24 pm on October 19th, 2012
Do they really have a Starbucks in Seattle?
4:29 pm on October 19th, 2012
B&M: You are asking if Seattle, the original Coffee Capital of the World has a Starbucks? Surly you jest.
4:31 pm on October 19th, 2012
“surely” not surly. Gah.
4:35 pm on October 19th, 2012
Melanie: The last line of the sonnet to the winter concerto is, “This is Winter, but such a one that brings us joy.”
4:40 pm on October 19th, 2012
Melanie: Here is the link to the Wikipedia article on Four Seasons. It has a link to the four sonnets–different translation than the one I quoted.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Four_Seasons_(Vivaldi)
4:45 pm on October 19th, 2012
Every time I see the heading of today’s post it makes me hungry.
B: We will try to remember that last line in the months to come.
4:51 pm on October 19th, 2012
Wose: Please check your SDD.
5:11 pm on October 19th, 2012
My pal Rio up top in his bow-tie, looking spiffy as usual.
Wookie
5:21 pm on October 19th, 2012
Kat is up top now looking fierce.
I am working from home today and our fire alarm keeps sounding. We can’t find smoke or sign of fire anywhere. The batteries are new. Tenzing has asked to go outside because he doesn’t like the noise.
5:45 pm on October 19th, 2012
Quick update. Dad had a very bad night with alot of pain. Bad enough he just wanted to give up. The nurse called mom at 3:00 in the morning and she came over from the hotel. Today has been much better. Pain is being managed and Dad is getting alot of much needed sleep. Dr came by and said surgery went great but has not said anything about pathology. Maybe waiting until Dad is more with it.
Thank you all for the prayers. Please keep them coming.
Bluecat, thank you, thank you. Mom needed to hear that.
5:47 pm on October 19th, 2012
Sage: Please check in with us. I’m worried that your mama might helped the Royals’ box you up after the events of yesterday. We’ll check our PO box often until we receive word from you.
5:54 pm on October 19th, 2012
G&BB: Thank you for checking in with us. I am glad to hear that your pop is able to get some sleep today. It often seems that the night of a surgery is the worst. Has the pathology report been confirmed or is the doctor still waiting for confirmation? I hope your mom can get some rest of her own. I’ve asked Coach and Bev to include your family in their prayres. Bev seems to have the Creator on speed dial. She also has that magic mother’s spit that can get out stains better than Shout, but that’s a story for another time. Please take care under the quilt.
6:45 pm on October 19th, 2012
G&BB: Glad to hear that your pop’s pain is being managed. I think the pathology may take a few days. When I was diagnosed with cancer, I remember it took a couple of days before the path results came in.
Take good care of your mom, and know that very strong prayers and healing thoughts are coming at you from the Prof and I.
6:49 pm on October 19th, 2012
Kat! Of course you can come shopping with me! It is my favorite thing to do, especially with my VBFF, Belle Starr. I can’ t wait, us girls will have such fun!
6:58 pm on October 19th, 2012
G&B, We are hoping for the best outcome. Glad they are helping with the pain.
Yes, that was a yoke about a Starbucks in Seattle. We thought there might be a few.
6:59 pm on October 19th, 2012
Gus&BooBear: Please know that Plunderer Prayers continue to come your way. The Quilt has been tucked lovingly around your dad and mom. May they both be able to get some much needed rest.
7:01 pm on October 19th, 2012
Rebecca, please check your SDD.
7:08 pm on October 19th, 2012
Did I see that Tupper and Gilly are expecting puppies? I guess they must be adopting, laws of nature being what they are.
Just so you know, my name is Macy Grace.
G & BB, truckload of hugs headed down I45 in your direction.
I had no idea that Rose was so small. I have a parka she can borrow.
7:08 pm on October 19th, 2012
B&M: Interesting enough a visitor of ours once complained they could not find a Starbucks in the airport. There are a couple that we know of, but apparently not on that particular concourse.
Just noticed Spence and his fans are all wearing shades of blue in the photo above.
7:55 pm on October 19th, 2012
Did you notice in AFOC that Bernie says “Gah” over a bird poop issue. Wonder if that was a hat tip to our resident pug.
8:06 pm on October 19th, 2012
Readers!…I wonder how far those two blue readers traveled to see Spencer…sniff!…I guess I would walk a mile to see him…chuffle!…But he would have to have some very good treaties on him once I got there…huffle!
8:08 pm on October 19th, 2012
Barb!…We laughed out loud when we read Bernie say, “Gah!”…heh!snort!heh!….That whole scene made us laugh very hard…chorkel!
8:09 pm on October 19th, 2012
Game!…ON!…Woooooo!…There is still hope…sniffle!
8:31 pm on October 19th, 2012
Macy, since we are about the same size, may I borrow your parka for the trip?
8:31 pm on October 19th, 2012
Hi, Rio!
8:54 pm on October 19th, 2012
Sure thing Rose, on its way.
A very sad day for Texans. This guy has been overseeing the Texas State Fair for 60 years. Yesterday was his birthday and they made him a giant belgian waffle.

8:54 pm on October 19th, 2012
Rose!…snort!…Hi! How youse been doing you little bitty thing?…heh!snort!…I could lend you my Coat of Many Colors if someone could find it that is….grunt!
8:56 pm on October 19th, 2012
Big Tex!…gasp!…Why did they burn him up?…sniff!
9:10 pm on October 19th, 2012
60 years of glory up in flame!
9:33 pm on October 19th, 2012
Macy? I have the same question as Rio…Why?
9:44 pm on October 19th, 2012
Bella – sorry, but Sage can’t come to the keyboard right now…heh, heh, heh
Siber and all – the flames that took down Big Tex are thought to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Short circuit in a tall guy. Hows that for irony?
9:49 pm on October 19th, 2012
Awwww!…sniff!…Stuff like that makes me very very sad…snorkel!…Goodbye Ole Tex…sniff!
Update!…The Giants are ahead!….Wooooo!…They are in St. Lewey and they are leading!….chuffle!
9:54 pm on October 19th, 2012
Printer!… yeep!….Now someone is debating whether we need a new printer or not…grunt!….Her mother wants photos printed of her and her Iowa great-grandchild and the photos my friend has given her are sub-quality so far…sniff!…Partly due to the horrible photography in the first place and then mostly due to her older than dust (2005) printer…grump!…It works fine for black and white copies of the bills she needs to keep. So why bust into Beau’s treaty budget for a new printer, I ask youse?….snort!…I concur. No new printer….har!har!….Until it goes up in flames like Ole Tex did….wheeze!
9:57 pm on October 19th, 2012
T&G In a way, that is a relief. I thought maybe they burned him up on purpose for some strange reason…like they do Zozobra
in Santa Fe.
Goodbye Big Tex
10:01 pm on October 19th, 2012
Saturday!…My friend says she has to go into the busy-place tomorrow…grump!…She is going to get up early and then leave by noon…hmmmphf!…The she says she has plans to go to Walmart (a place she rarely goes) and buy an exercise machine…sniff!…What the hell? Isn’t walking Beau and I to death enough already?…grumble!…If she does this, my quality lap time is OVER…huffle!
10:09 pm on October 19th, 2012
The rents left us all alone tonight, and we had really big storms. There was even a tornado warning! We had no basement to go to. They are home now, but they can never undo the damage they have done to us. What trauma we faced.
10:12 pm on October 19th, 2012
Fellow Sibers, turn them into the ASPCA.
10:12 pm on October 19th, 2012
Dad!…I bet that guy with the Gandalf beard in todays post is Spencer’s Paw! The little lady is his Step-Maw…heh!heh!…Why would he post a photo otherwise…snorkel!…Hey Spencer’s Dad! Good Job! Very good Job!…heh!…She is so little and cute and happy! (even if I am wrong)…snorkel!
10:18 pm on October 19th, 2012
Zito!…My friend has a huge crush on Barry Zito…heh!heh! …I am not supposed to blag about that, but she thinks he is something else…grunt!…Even better looking than me or Beau plus a lot richer too…huffle!
10:26 pm on October 19th, 2012
Howlers!…gasp!… That is horrible! So far Me and Beau (sorry Stover but I have to come first) have not been left alone during any major storms…sniff!…The wind was bad enough lately. Lightning does not seem to bother Beau but I worry about my friend during thunder and lightning storms and take appropriate cover…wuffle!
10:29 pm on October 19th, 2012
Rio – since your friend is going to WallWorld anyway, tell her to get the pictures done there at the photo counter. She could even get them blown up, or done specisal fancy or somesuch for Christmas presents for her mother, and or the Iowa contingent.
We wondered about the couple in the picture, but just thought we had missed something.
10:30 pm on October 19th, 2012
HomeRun!!…5 ta Nuthing Giants (in St. Louis)….hehheheheheheheheheheh!…WOOOOOOOOO!
10:34 pm on October 19th, 2012
Tupper!…She cannot find her zip-drive or she would do that photo thing maybe…grunt!…The fact is, she is not that enthusiastic about any of these photo…wuffle!
10:48 pm on October 19th, 2012
Night all. Be back tomorrow.
10:52 pm on October 19th, 2012
Zito!…He lasted till the 8th!…snort!
11:05 pm on October 19th, 2012
Yawn, It was a busy day here. Wills were signed and neighbors were witnesses. (We met a new neighbor that way) The Turtleman and E were here and played cards. I won in the last hand YAY!
Now I am tired and am going to bed. Maggie is rooting for Detroit. She remembers the evil Cards from 1934 when they played against Detroit in the Series, and won. As a Michigander she always has hated the Cardinals since then. She is going to follow the Series this year if the Cards get in.
Gus And BooBear we will be praying for your parents again tonight during this scary time.
Callie, you are in our prayers too.
Night all.
11:05 pm on October 19th, 2012
Rebecca!…I hope those traveling thieves have not taken your computer…wheeze!…The Giant better be home tonight with you, or I will worry some…sniff!
11:07 pm on October 19th, 2012
Staff!…Goodnight!…Take care and Maggie is rooting for the Tighers!…Wooooo!….I love it.
11:13 pm on October 19th, 2012
Maggie has an even longer history of disliking the Dirty Birds than we do. I love it. WOO WOO
Yes, the Giants are going to win this game.
Gus&BooBear, We are all with you and praying for a good outcome.
night all
11:14 pm on October 19th, 2012
Cousins!..There is “Cousins” in the tag on todays post..so maybe those guys are his….Cousins!…chuffle!…Nope, I am going with Dad and StepMom…heheheheh!
GIANTS!…WINNIT!….Wooooooo!…Now we have to go to bed so she can get up early and go away again….sob!wuffle!sob!
11:19 pm on October 19th, 2012
Puss N’ Boots!…My powerful pug prayers will be for youse guys tonight. I can only imagine what you all are going through…snuffle!…Please take care Karen and get some sleep. You do not want to get down with a cold or flu right now. (Hospitals are full of germs!) Please take care of yourself too….wuffle!
11:24 pm on October 19th, 2012
It was raining democrats and republicans tonight, but Mama and Dad still did their prayers outside, under the portico.
Prayers for Gus and BooBear’s folks
Prayers for Maggie
Prayers for Terry’s mom
Prayers for every one of the Plunderers in need.
(and prayers for baseball season to be over…)
Good night all
12:08 am on October 20th, 2012
There were only 3 days left of the State Fair. sniff, he and dad are the same age. After the fire he looked like a zombie (Big Tex not dad). His face was melted, but both arms still had sleeves. It was very creepy. His size 77 1/2 hat was gone too. I think the Texas flag should be flown at half mast in his honor. RIP Big Tex.

Today, while I was at work, my sister stole my iphone and tested to
see if it can survive a 40 foot drop, just so she can be
a youtube sensation. My iPad is now broken
and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I
had to share it with someone!
