What’s In a Name?
Ms. Publicist: Fifteenth of the month was yesterday, but it’s not too late for our What’s In A Name feature, where Spence and I discuss a character name from the Chet and Bernie books. I’ve just read Tail of Vengeance, the new e-story coming July 8, and I’m interested in Maxie “Auto” Bonn.
Spence: Ah. The detective Chet and Bernie deal with briefly, but crucially, in the story.
Ms. P: Yes. And who works with a dog, just as Bernie does, in this case a rather inattentive dog named Barko.
Spence: Right. At one point it occurs to Bernie that Maxie and Barko are a sort of funhouse mirror image of himself and Chet. As for the name, I stole it. There was an NFL linebacker in the ’50’s named Maxie Baughan. I just loved the name for some reason and it stuck with me. I changed Baughan to Bonn, not wanting any confusion with the former player, and Bonn being a German city must have reminded me of bahn as in autobahn, and thus the nickname – Maxie “Auto” Bonn.
Ms. P: Words can be fun! See you July 15 for another episode of What’s In A Name?
Welcome Cassie (with Don) and here they are, reading To Fetch A Thief:

Love both names…Barko and Auto Bonn. I have never known a dog named Barko but know some that should have been named Barko. They live within hearing distance of us. Speaking of the autobahn, we are now going to watch Germany win their first World Cup game.
The USA plays later today.
GO GERMANY!!
GO USA!!

Wose: I am going to summer camp with you. My sparkly, pink back pack is full of all the camping essentials: sparkles, glitter, Slim Jims, Swedish fish, gummy bears, and a note from mama Luna that tells that darkness to stay away or else. I also have a picture of her showing her sharp fangs just so that darkness knows she means business.
Diane: From yesterday, the Giant works during the summer doing sled dog tours. Me?—I stay at home and make sure everything is up to standard. I’m in charge of sparkles.

A mirror image of Chet and Bernie? OMD! This is gonna be fun!!!
Good morning, everyone!

We know a good friend dog named Barker. He is a huge, beautiful Alaskan Malamute. His name was supposed to be a joke, since Malamutes don’t bark. However, the joke is on his people as the dog went to day care for a little while, and came home with a new skill – barking his head off.
What a great dog.

What’s this? Kats walking off-stage in the middle of their act?
Acro-Cats, with 10 kats & a chicken, “the show is littered with humor.”

OH: “Fun house mirror”. Should be really fun.
Tupper’s Mama, love that story. I, Lucy Lou, have learned to Hooooooowl with mom on the first Wednesday of each month when the sirens get tested. The new girl, Blondie, sings like crazy 🙂

Masquers: looks like quite an act!

Do I bark when it’s race time? Yes! Do I demand attention while I wait to be suited up for the starting line? Yes, I can’t help it.
2:16 pm on June 16th, 2014
Spence: Fascinating to see the inner workings of your brain. I love “Auto” and Barko.
Welcome FOC Cassie and Don: Cassie looks classy and Don looks like my brother, Chris! It must be the glasses.
I wonder what “guest” Staff was expecting. Safe trip home, Staff.
Tupper’s Mama: A case of the dog living up to his name?
Do you have a show next weekend?
ML: One of my goals this summer was to “de-clutter”, have a big garage sale and simplify my life. Several days ago I took everything out of one shelf of my linen closet and put it on the easy chair to sort through. I can’t believe how much can be crammed into one shelf! Finally I am going through the second shelf but at this rate a garage sale is a long way off. Plus no one can sit in the easy chair!
2:18 pm on June 16th, 2014
Good dog, JR.
2:19 pm on June 16th, 2014
RJ, Momma told me you needed a LOT of attention waiting for that race to start. {sigh} If only she would have taken me with her Way Up North to Alaska.

Good day all.
Ikette dug his first hole today. {{{sniff, sniff}}} The little guy is growing up and discovering new talents.
I woke this morning to discover that he had drug one of every shoe out of my bedroom and into the hallway. Thank goodness I don’t have a shoe fetish. The hiking boots seem to have defeated him however.
3:00 pm on June 16th, 2014
CHobbit: Aw! SiberH will be extremely proud of Ikette digging his first hole. What a dog! I hope he conquers the hiking boots before he has to leave. (sniff)
Oh no, not again!
Severe thunderstorm warning is in effect.
3:03 pm on June 16th, 2014
SiberH!….I think Germany destroyed Portugal this morning….snort!…Good news is my friend will get to see some of the USA game tonight if she ever gets home from that busy-place…snuffle!
3:21 pm on June 16th, 2014
Rio! Woohoo Germany massacred Portugal.
I hope your friend gets home in time to see the USA play. All paws crossed for a win.
Maybe Ikette can come to work for me someday. It doesn’t matter how big a dude he will grow up to be.
4:19 pm on June 16th, 2014
Dawson – yes, we do have a show this weekend. We will be back at that wonderful Native museum in the lovely all glass atrium. Last year, we sent pictures of the Hawaiian dancers at the show. Wish they were back…sniff.
We do love indoor shows. No wind or rain to worry about, and there are security guards on duty all night.
We finally got our auction item pictures sent. Whew! That pressure was keeping us up at night.
And on the medical front….well, not so good. Brother will have to have chemo, based on the pathology of the tumor. This was a total surprise since the surgeon felt pretty confident that they had gotten to the cancer “in time”.
Brother is right back down in the dumps. He will be staying with us for another week or so anyway. Oh joy.
4:34 pm on June 16th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: Sending Prayers & Positive Thoughts to your brother. We know he is feeling down and rightly so.
At least you and the Storyteller will be catching a break with a nice location for this Weekend’s Show.
Looking forward to seeing the newest Bear Fetish.
Zeus: That is proof positive that you are the King (not that there was ever any doubt).
5:05 pm on June 16th, 2014
Zeusikov is up top!
T&G: The glass atrium sounds lovely!
I send prayers and laughter to your brother and the same for you
5:26 pm on June 16th, 2014

T&G, we think they almost always do chemo, as a precaution. Your brother shouldn’t let that get him down. We know…easy for us to say.
It is stinking hot here. Mom is happy.
Dawson, we are getting storms tonight soon, but yours yours way worse than ours.
Why are Rio and Siber happy that Germany beat Portugal? Does that help Team USA?
Hobbit, the ‘rents lock up the shoes when they leave us alone. We never knew why, since we have never stolen or chewed any shoes. Heh! They must have known about puppies like Mimi-Me!

We know a guy whose bakery burned down. Now his business is toast.
(We have been lax about these recently 🙂 )

Germany over Portugal, don’t know the importance but at least the guy with the mohawk and the duck dynasty beard is on the loosing team…GAH!
7:29 pm on June 16th, 2014
Pawsitive thoughts to the Royal family and brother too. Best of luck with the chemo. Where will he go when he leaves you?
Dawson, keep up the good work. As of Sunday, we have one cabinet COMPLETELY empty! And I just found out that Niki the super organizer is coming up on Thursday to whip everything into shape. We may survive this after all.
7:39 pm on June 16th, 2014
Macy and ML, you girls go! Wow, you have so much energy to do all that Mom feels lucky to wash the bedding (especially when a Blondie piddles on the corner of it 🙁 ).

Mama Luna, That darkness is trembling in its boots. It knows you are not fooling around.
Thinking of the Royal Mum and her brother, and sending strong prayers out to you.
CHobbit, If I was fostering ‘lil Ike, I would not be able to let him be taken away.

8:02 pm on June 16th, 2014
HOH, Mommy still does not trust me about mis-piddles. We have hardwood floors except for carpet in the bedroom. So mommy keeps the bedroom door closed all the time. In the living room we have an oriental rug which finally got rolled out a couple of months ago. I don’t know why.

Rose, We believe you are fighting a loosing battle.
Sorry to hear about the chemo, but we also believe it is more common than not.
8:34 pm on June 16th, 2014
Yep, we think that about chemo, too. That is why mom was so bowled over last May when nothing other than surgery happened…but then she is really weird!
8:57 pm on June 16th, 2014
Billy’s Buddy, be safe tonight. Take no chances. BIG storms headed your way.
8:58 pm on June 16th, 2014

HOH, Barb didn’t have to have chemo either, but with lung cancer it is more routine.

Back in the day, you said I looked like Gene Simmons and I said I looked like John Wayne.

We are hoping Staff is having a safe trip. She IS traveling today, right? Those big scary storms are right along the path.
When brother does leave here, he will go back to his ratty little apartment. He wants to go now, even though the doc told him to stay put here. He is just SOOOO angry. Just found out today when I went to the doctor with him that his doc has been talking to him for years about lung disease and depression. But now, brother is complaining that “no one ever explained” that he should quit smoking, etc. Everything is everyone else’s fault.
Just gonna keep doing what I can, what I am allowed to do. And refuse to accept the blame and the guilt.
And I am going to ENJOY the show this weekend!
10:52 pm on June 16th, 2014
Golinka!…You do not own this guilt-trip…snort!…You get out and enjoy that show this weekend. It is one of the high points of your show-circuit….snort!….Except for the show where you get to meet up with Spencer, now that’s on the list of my best shows!…chuffle!
10:58 pm on June 16th, 2014
Smoking!….I don’t get it. Smoking has been proved to be hazardous to yer health long ago….sniff!…Chewing tobacco is even worse. But will they stop? NOPE…grunt!…The Hot-Shot chews and my friend suspects he smokes when he is really stressed out…grump!…His Greatest Fear? Throat Cancer. Will he quit? By gawd NO WAY!….grump!
11:16 pm on June 16th, 2014
Golinka, Brother made his choices and he is responsible for those choices. He will never understand this truth. These personalities are forever in denial.
There is absolutely nothing you could have done to change him. Life doesn’t work that way.
Enjoy the show and don’t you dare feel guilty for something you have never had any control over.
It will be a good show. I know it.
11:17 pm on June 16th, 2014
Rio – we don’t get the smoking thing at all either. Expensive, stinky and can kill you.
Now being g hooked on ice cream? That I can understand.
11:19 pm on June 16th, 2014
The Rockies can come behind and win this and then Rio and I will have had one of those perfect sports days.
Night All
11:20 pm on June 16th, 2014
Thanks to all of you for letting me vent. And for the support.
We will indeed enjoy the show. We are going into it loaded for bear (no offense, BSD)

I must get mom to the store. She always has kibbles, but not much else. I think ice cream should be on the list.

“My counselor told me once that there will always be people in my life that try to pull me, at times yank me, down into their craziness. That was nice validation since I felt that in my lifetime, I’ve dealt with more than my share of Crazy. But, of course the lesson continued, as it should, to something about me (heavens!) that needed work. We don’t go to counseling for a pat on the back. It was up to me when the Crazies came running to say “no” (politely) and stay on my sane side of the street. He used this phrase that he told me to repeat whenever I felt that tug from the aforementioned Crazies: “Not my circus, not my monkeys.” Not my circus, not my monkeys. In other words, we don’t have to let other people drag us into their mess. We aren’t responsible for others behavior, only for our own. We have a choice to stay on our own side of sanity and not run with them into the drama, the accusations, the victim-mentality, the taking-sides, or whatever unhealthy place in which Crazy thrives.”

Dawson et al,
My guest is the 13 year old daughter of the woman who owns the fabric/gift store in Minneapolis where I do my teaching. Lindsey wants to be somewhere quiet where she can read. So far she has gone around the house and grounds taking pictures. Run out of the house 3 times to chase deer for a picture and taken a walk out west to take pictures of the sunset. Oh, and made a little cat quilt top that she is going to make into a pillow. Pictures tomorrow A.M.
We had some rain on the trip but nothing terrible. We did see some really dark clouds but snuck through on the nice side of the storms. It didn’t rain her at all.
Nighty noodle

Royal Mum, You can help those who accept it. Hoping you have a really big shew.
RIO! Thank you. Sending you a kiss.

HOH: We had rain, but no bad storms. Those went south of us. Thanks for thinking of us here.
Also, just to let everyone know that my “adopted” mare Liz-Beth who lived at Refuge Farms in Spring Valley, Wisconsin, crossed over the bridge on Sunday. She had a hard life as a plow horse before my friend Sandy rescued her, but she was loved at the end. Sandy would stick Liz-Beth’s pills in the cookies I made for her. Otherwise, the pills would end up on the ground. What a gal.
9:46 am on June 17th, 2014
ML: Excellent words to live by!
Staff: Happy to hear you missed the stormy weather on the way back home. A place, I’m sure, you are happy to be.
BB: Liz-Beth now running free is what we see. You helped make her life joyful here on earth. She will be missed. sob.

It is only years later, when Orochi, in an unusual form, revisits the sisters in their adulthood that the secret is revealed, and along with it, the true nature of these blood sisters. People often lump everyone the same when a few become tarnished. You are really taking a gamble on those occasions when you think you’re okay to drive but you’re not certain if you’re under the legal blood alcohol content. As kittens they learn to bite for fun. took the two dolls and began chanting, and then they took the two dolls to a cemetery and buried it. Peter Parker is more than happy to let the world think ol’ web head is dead until a desperate transmission from John Jameson from Counter Earth is broadcast.
