What Makes It All Worthwhile
Dear Mr. Abrahams
I am A sophomore in high school and just finished your book Bullet Point. I
absoulty loved the book but I’m so confused at the end of the book. It
is literally killing me please please reply to this email did Greer die in the end
of the book?????? And also i just wanted to say how gifted of a writer you are. I
hate reading but I could not put this book down I actually didn’t do anything in my
classes all week just because I had to keep reading. – (Genuine reader email, 10/18/11)
Belated Happy Birthday to B. Stover and Linda.
Judith and Mollypop: in our thoughts.
Welcome Bo and Mani, Bella, Casey, Starr Belle in Camillus, NY.

There are three run-on sentences in the student’s paragraph. As an English professor, this really irritates me…and so early in the morning.
I enjoyed Bullet Point. Thank you for the birthday wish Spence.
Good morning all.
8:43 am on October 19th, 2011
Good Morning B.Stover and everyone . . .
Snickering here about the run on sentences. In my world just the thought that a high school student wrote an author to wonder “what happened next” is a wonderment!
Picking up the Element today! That is, of course, if insurance place did everything it was supposed to and the seller did everything they were supposed to . . .
The Poor Van was literally falling apart. snicker
Jesse, our go-to guy, shut the passenger door and the side mirror fell off.
That’s the way to use a car! Drive it into the dirt (metaphorically speaking).
8:51 am on October 19th, 2011
It is wonderful when an author can get a student (or anyone) intersted in reading, especially a student who “hates reading.” That would make it worthwhile. Now all we have to do is to get that student interested in writing well.
Good morning Melanie. Hope you get the new car today.
8:55 am on October 19th, 2011
Good morning all.
Since the kid’s a soph and “hates reading”, PA opened a new world to him/her. Yay for PA.
Head butts and hugs to Mollypop’s Mom and little Sammie and family.
8:55 am on October 19th, 2011
Now we will have to read Bullet Point.
So much to do … so little time.
9:00 am on October 19th, 2011
I really hope that the student was not literally dying. If so, Peter, contact the poor child stat!!
For the first time since Saturday, mom is not completely debilitated my back spasms, so she IS going to school today. She is on the first-day-of-prednisone rush, even though her back is still acting up. Easy girl. A long ago brother, Petie, was once so down in his back he could barely walk. They took him to the v e t who gave him a shot of steroid. When they got home, they did not consider that he would be feeling good so soon, so the next 20 minutes were spent chasing him down the street. Mom says that if I go all unauthorized walkabout today, I am on my own.
9:37 am on October 19th, 2011
Peter’s writing becomes an excuse for doing nothing all week in class. Tsk. Tsk. Heh.
9:40 am on October 19th, 2011
It was Stephen King and Dean Koontz that got OTAS reading. Now he listens to all sorts of authors (Quinn being his favorite) while he drives to and from work.
I think he really started reading in the 7th grade.
YSAS is a different story. That dyslexia is a BIG problem. I read to him everything for years. The neurologist though he might never be able to read. But TEACHERS (and me) kept working with him. Now, he has no problem with plays and screenplays. Novels? He listens to novels. Textbooks? Snort! Unless they are about Shakespeare.
9:41 am on October 19th, 2011
Writing!… Takes practice. I’m not going to point toes but there are many of you who have improved immensely by writing on this blog every day for over a year….snort!….So give the kid a break. Maybe they will pay more attention now in English class….snort!… I hope that Admin got off his grumpy stool and wrote the kid back. Although, if you’ve read the book you know what his answer would have been….snuff!
9:45 am on October 19th, 2011
Macy, I assume you are talking about your 2 legged mom, since you mention school. Regular docs prescribe drugs. Tell her to consider going to a chiropractor instead, they know how to treat the problem.(run on sentence).
Should we tell her what happened to Greer? Very good book, btw.
Does anyone have a recipe for a leek side dish? Looking for sort of a augratin type, made with cream.
9:59 am on October 19th, 2011
Ending!….Oh and by the way, I thought the ending of Bullet Point was pretty obvious….sniff!… Was anyone else confused as to what happened to Greer?….snort! …Now, Oblivion on the other hand, still leaves me with a big nagging question. My friend even wrote The Charming Mr. Abrahams with this question. She did not receive the response she wanted…grunt!….So good luck to the Soph in that regard…heh!heh!
10:22 am on October 19th, 2011
Rio. While the ending of Oblivion was left ambiguous, we took a fairly optimistic view of the outcome. Bullet Point is one of only two PA books we have not yet read (the other being After the Fall, the third in the Echo Falls series), so we don’t know what the outcome was there. Both Bullet Point and After the Fall are high on the “to read” list here, but maybe they need to get moved up a little higher. Wookie
10:31 am on October 19th, 2011
Wookie, I think Into the Dark is the 3rd in the Echo Falls series (Ingrid’s books). What is After the Fall?
Rio, We thought the ending of BP was pretty specific as to Greer.
10:34 am on October 19th, 2011
Thank you all so much for helping me get through the day yesterday. Our blog family is unique and special.
Yesterday afternoon I took a Rio-like Brutal Walk. Up and down lots of hills and ski trails. I want to do that again today if the weather will cooperate.
10:50 am on October 19th, 2011
Wookie!… Regarding Oblivion I am not talking about the literal ending of the story which was very optimistic….snort!… I’m talking about the mistake that Petrov made in the past regarding the ending of another case. Drat! I can’t remember all the details right now, but it was a mistake that Petrov would not have made. Nick, the alter ego, would have made this type of mistake. Never Petrov. ….grunt!….This still bugs me. I may have to re-read the book just to make sure I didn’t miss something that resolved this issue…sniff!
10:54 am on October 19th, 2011
Walk!… Please do not ask me to go with you M&M. I only do the Brutal Walk when forced to by my friend…grunt!wheeze! … You are on your own up and down those nasty hills and valleys…sniff!…My friend is still recovering from the Windy Walk yesterday….snort!…Her head hurts and she is grouchy…sniff!
10:55 am on October 19th, 2011
Julian Barnes won the Man Booker Prize for Sense of an Ending. And there is a new bio out on VanGogh. I’ve ordered it.
I hope the weather cooperates Judith. We’re here for you.
Barb: That was a comma splice rather than a run-on.
Okay…off to class. (I’ll be an English prof there rather than here.)
10:59 am on October 19th, 2011
Why is my comment being moderated?
10:59 am on October 19th, 2011
I hope someone tells this student that she would enjoy reading other books by PA. She needs encouragement to keep reading.
There were wonderful tributes to Mollypop on the blog yesterday. Rio, Your card was beautiful and so was the poetry that some of you wrote.
10:59 am on October 19th, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom, We have a little pipsqueak here who would love to accompany you on your walk. We are tired of her grousing in her crate. Now if Wolfie would only just blurr on by to deliver her to you.
11:21 am on October 19th, 2011
Rio – Since your friend’s head hurts, she might not take the Brutal Walk today. You will have to come with me and we will take Kat too.
11:23 am on October 19th, 2011
Why do we get the impression the letter in question was
from a he, not a she? Good excuse for avoiding studies.
MsM: You continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
A happy belated B-Day to B & Linda the Lurker.
Yummy cakes for B & Linda from Melanie.
Melanie: Yay for the new Element!
Good Morning Everyone.
11:31 am on October 19th, 2011
Morning everyone –
Bee – isn’t moderation a puzzlement?
It is great that someone got this student to read. JK Rawlings and Harry Potter inspired a whole new generation of readers, from young school kids to young adults, who prior to the magic of Hogwart’s also “hated” reading.
Barb and Maggie – how about this one?
Leeks au Gratin
4 medium leeks with some tops, cut into 1/2′ slices
1 TBL margarine
1 TBL and 1 tsp flour
1/4 tsp salt
dash pepper
2/3 cup milk (skim ok)
1/4 finely shredded swiss or gruyere cheese
2 TBLS dry bread crumbs
cooking spray
Cook well washed leek slices in 1″ boiling water in covered sauce pan for about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Heat oven to 325. Spray shallow 1 qt cassarole with cooking spray.
Melt margarine in sauce pan over med low heat. Stir in flour,
salt and pepper. Stir until margarine is absorbed. Remove from heat, slowly add milk and stir til smooth. Return to heat, medium to med high and bring to boil, stirring. Boil 1 minute, stir in cheese , cook til melted.
Stir cooked leeks into sauce. Pour into cassarole, garnish with bread crumbs and lightly spray top with cooking spray.
Bake uncovered for about 25 minutes, or until browned to your taste.
Rio – sounds like your friend needs a day off, maybe with her faithful Pug snuggled by her side. Maybe she would even like to play with a baseball toy.
Howlers – “tired of her grousing” already? You’ve only just begun….tee hee
11:35 am on October 19th, 2011
Hello Plunderers!
It is a miserable rainy day here. Hurray! That means our Howlers are stuck indoors with us most of the time.
As to the student email, we think it is great that this student loved reading PA’s book, and that he took the time to email. Mom told us that electronic “informal” communications such as email and this blog do not always follow formal grammar rules. She thinks the run-on sentence is just fine in this context, and does not keep the reader from getting the point. Our 2 cents.
11:37 am on October 19th, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom: I had to do a long walk yesterday as well. Then I watched a PBS showing of H.M.S. Pinafore performed at the Guthrie Theater. I’d never seen it before. It was very entertaining. As soon as I stopped, there was Mollypop on my mind. There will be no fuzzbutts in heaven while the fierce Mollypop is about.
11:43 am on October 19th, 2011
Day-Off!…. Her? I’m the one who needs a day off…grunt! … I don’t know what she does all day long, but I am tired when she gets home…sniff!… That walking business is the last thing I want to do after a long day of snuffling and wuffling here and there….grump!
Game!… For those of you who do not know the World Series starts tonight at 8:05 EST….snort!snort!….Admin has given the Rangers the Kiss Of Death by the mere fact he “picked” them to win….heh!… She says she will go work-out at the “other place” and be back in time for the Big Game to start…snort! …On the other paw if we go on The Brutal Walk we will both miss up to 45 minutes of the game….grunt!…Unacceptable! This is the last baseball we will get to see for month and months….sob!
11:50 am on October 19th, 2011
Rio – is your friend enjoying the other place? Does she just love the squat machine? tee hee
Mama has the day to play with clay today, so we are signing off for now. BBL
11:51 am on October 19th, 2011
T & G, Thank you, we knew either you or Siber would come thru with a recipe for us! I think we will fatten it up a little with some H & H that we have in the frige. Kelly always says any recipe with milk is better with cream (mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, etc.).
Molly’s Mom, Glade to hear from you today. You are in our thoughts.
11:56 am on October 19th, 2011
Oh Oh ! At the top of the page is me next to Whitey-Lance !!!!
12:10 pm on October 19th, 2011
Maggie, lol That’s a good one…Siber comes through with a recipe.
Me too, Molly’s mom, It is very good to hear from you today. You and Mollypop are in our thoughts.
12:19 pm on October 19th, 2011
I don’t know why I assumed that the writer of the email was a she. It might take a dog shrink to figure that one out.
12:40 pm on October 19th, 2011
Barb and Maggie. You are absolutely correct; I was trying to remember the title and somehow came up with After the Fall instead of Into the Dark. Geez, I don’t know why I said After the Fall, which I think was a reference to the Arthur Miller play from the 1960s in which the plot is loosely related to his failed marriage to Marilyn Monroe. There is definitely no connection at all between that and Into the Dark, other than each title consists of one preposition, one article and one noun. Definite case of brain freeze here. Time for a nap. Wookie

Rose, OH and Buddy & T.C.: (using the sarcastic font) Thanks for sending us the two lows from your direction.
Kirby T.: (using the sarcastic font) Thanks for sending us the single low from your direction that is forming a gigantic storm for us!
Anyhoo, before the rain hit we got the CAR!
12:47 pm on October 19th, 2011
Great recipe Tupper&Gilly! We also like Barb&Magpie’s use of H & H to “fatten it up”.
Melanie: Slings and Arrows is due to arrive today. Will let you know how we like it.
Here comes the sun!
BBL
12:58 pm on October 19th, 2011
Car!….Wow, nice car Melanie. Will everybody fit into that thing?…..sneeze!
Baseball!….Here is an interesting factoid…snort!… The Red Sox became the first team in baseball history to have a nine-game lead in the final month of the season and not make it to the postseason…..heh!snort! ….It was probably due to all the beer they “supposedly” drank in the dugout….grunt! ….As if!
1:14 pm on October 19th, 2011
The Element looks great (at least it did before rain).
1:26 pm on October 19th, 2011
The car is beautiful Melanie. Looks like it would be fun to drive.
1:27 pm on October 19th, 2011
Cool car, Melanie. The Newfs will love it.
Rio, The rest of the rumor is that they were eating fried chicken along with drinking the beer. This may be the first time in baseball history that fried chicken and beer get the blame for not making it to the post season.
1:35 pm on October 19th, 2011
We are new to this blog, but are already enjoying it. Our Mom said she was going to try that leek casserole and she’s already the best cook in the world-at least we think so.
We think the whole point of the blog today “what makes it all worthwhile” is the fact that a 15 year old is actually reading a grownup book. Yes, perhaps this child should have been doing school work, or visiting with friends, like 15 year olds do, but getting a kid to start reading in the first place is the challenge. The grammer and appropriate parsing of verbage will come with time.
We didn’t know Miss MollyPop but our Mom lost a canine child before we got here, and sometimes she still feels sad about him, and she tells us what a good dog he was. She also makes sure we know that she loves us too, and shows it by giving us really big hugs–you know the kind, where you almost can’t breath? And we’ve already mentioned her cooking, right?
We send our wishes that Molly’s mom recovers from her loss as soon as possible. Walks are a good way to start with the healing process.
One last thought. Mom lived in St. Louis and now lives in Texas with us. Is that a conflict or what? Mom says, Go Cardinals.
1:38 pm on October 19th, 2011
Love the car Melanie. For some reason, we were picturing it black.
Barb’s sis lives in St.Louis and several of her friends are going to the game tonight. She said weather is cold and dreary.
Wookie, After the Fall could be a book written about Wall Street too.
1:59 pm on October 19th, 2011
Bo n’ Mani!….snort!…. I already like these guys and that never happens!….Wooooo! ….Go Red Birds! Fly! Fly!…Woooooo!….I can’t wait till the game starts. It’s going to be a very long afternoon of waiting….sniff!
2:00 pm on October 19th, 2011
Welcome, Bo and Mani. Are you going to get an Avatar?
2:39 pm on October 19th, 2011
Welcome bomani, just don’t count your red birds before they hatch. Are you going to watch the game with us tonight? I really wish Mom had gotten us all Ranger’s bandanas for wearing during the series. It is only 2 oclock, she still has plenty of time to run out for some.
2:43 pm on October 19th, 2011
Dog, I take a nap and there is someone new in the community. . . Hi Bo and Mani!
The car will fit 4 Newfs at a time and 5 if Katie uses the shot gun seat.
So one one paw, it doesn’t fit everyone and on the other paw, parts aren’t falling off of it, and on the other other paw, it’s an automatic and on the last paw, it’s 4 wheel drive.
Whew, I think I’ll take another nap . . .
3:03 pm on October 19th, 2011
Oh no – another Plunderer to vatch??
Vhat kind of creatures are Bo and Mani? Ve must have some information if ve are to be effective spy.
3:25 pm on October 19th, 2011
Vorlds!….Greatest! My @ss!…snort!…Just check out the Friends of Chet and you will see photo of Bo N’ Mani….sniff! …Chet even welcomed them this morning…. heh!… “Vorlds Greatest Spy”…snorkel!
3:53 pm on October 19th, 2011
Nattie, Rio got you good on that one!
3:54 pm on October 19th, 2011
Welcome Bo and Mani!
We love the names. We had to re-check the pictures. Which one is the poodle? Neither of them look like the Famous Bo.
4:00 pm on October 19th, 2011
I’m back from The Brutal Walk, although it’s probably Less Brutal than Rio’s. I used two apps on my iPhone – a pedometer and an altimeter. They both use GPS technology and seem to be fairly accurate. The Brutal Walk was 2 miles with elevation that went from 1540 feet above sea level to 1800 feet. The hills are the hard part, of course.
4:07 pm on October 19th, 2011
Great looking car Melanie,
Welcome Bo and Mani. You are sure cuties I think you name will soon be shortened to BonAmi if I know my evil pug.
I didn’t say Happy Birthday to Linda the Lurker or BStover yesterday. Happy belateds to you both.
Staff is trying to get stuff done before Dawson gets here and as a result she is attempting to have a book-free day. That is almost impossible for Staff but she is trying hard. She has resorted to reading the paper and not a book when she eats. She HAS to read something while eating. How about you? Do you eat and read? Do you know about this handy little device?
http://bookmatesplus.com/
Staff couldn’t read without them.
Off to make tomato soup from all of our tomatoes. It is supposed to freeze tonight. 6 weeks late.
4:09 pm on October 19th, 2011
errrr… off to watch Staff make tomato soup. Carpola!
4:24 pm on October 19th, 2011
Alice!….When is Dawson coming to visit you guys?…snort! ….This means she will finally see The Spanish Fan and more importantly, the photo I pawtographed for her….heh!…. Of course now my friend is worried that she won’t like the Fan. Did Staff take the blue tape off of the glass? ….grunt!
4:33 pm on October 19th, 2011
Yes dear. The blue tape is off the fan and I know Dawson will love it and her photo. Take a chill pill you silly Pug.
Dawson will be here to see her fan on the 7th of November. She will be in raptures over it I, Alice, can promise you that.
4:34 pm on October 19th, 2011
Yummy! Homemade soup!
Welcome to Bo and Mani! You may not know this, but the Plunderers have put together a cookbook called Dishlickers.
It is wonderful and we would love to have some of your mom’s recipies posted. I don’t know how to download but someone techie could probably tell you.
Mom can’t eat without reading. Sometimes she is very boring in this manner. She keeps forgeting to share with me and Gus when she has her nose in a book.
Bookmates? We’ll have to check it out. Thank you, AMJ.
4:36 pm on October 19th, 2011
Staff, We have been picking the last of our ‘matos too. Have made some sauce for the freezer, and now grilled cheese sandwichs with tomato for lunch.
We are also expecting a freeze tonight, but we will still have Swiss Chard, beets, and some greens. Barb has bee picking baby beet greens and arugula to mix in with her salads. Tonight she is having a salad, steak and the leek augratin dish. Will report tomorrow on how the leeks turn out.
Barb just finished Safe Haven by Sparks. She was in the middle of A Dog’s Purpose, but is finding it a little too sad to read, expecially this week. Did anyone else read it?
4:42 pm on October 19th, 2011
The signed pictures of Spence and Audrey just came in! Will be getting them out as soon as I can. LIke after these 3 lows go through and I stop hibernating.
5:05 pm on October 19th, 2011
Alice!….Ask Staff to take a photo of Dawson with the Fan and the Photo and post it on this here blog…heh!…I want to make sure she gets it…sniff!
5:26 pm on October 19th, 2011
Melanie: The new car’s a beaut! Congratulations! Sounds like you picked it up just in the nick of time, as the old vehicle is literally falling apart (lol)
Rose: Working on your 10-day for the Prof’s upcoming trip. Forgot to say…your Pooh Bear comment of yesterday was very touching, as were T&G’s poem and Rio’s card.
Mollypop’s Mom: Walking with you in spirit today.
The first day of the World Series. I will be watching!
5:28 pm on October 19th, 2011
Grilled cheese and tomato soup here tonight! Mom is lazy. We think the pipsqueak is wearing her out. She just told her friend she is homebound like a new mom (whispering) we think she likes that feeling.
5:29 pm on October 19th, 2011
Welcome Bo and Mani!
Alice, mom reads while eating.
Barb, Mom read A Dog’s Purpose. It is an okay book, but there is too much sadness in it. It is too painful for most dog lovers to read. Her advice is not to continue reading it.
5:31 pm on October 19th, 2011
Maskers!….Will you be playing your saxophone for the Cardinals?…heh!… Everyone knows saxophone music played by a black and white Kat in October is good luck. Not that our team will need much luck because Admin has done all the Jinxing we need …heh!heh! ….Go Cards!…snort!
5:39 pm on October 19th, 2011
GO RANGERS!!! Texas Rules!!!
5:42 pm on October 19th, 2011
Siber, Barb is trying to read it because her bro gave it to her to read. His wife said she would come to bed at night and his face would be all red and puffy because he was crying and sniffing when he read it. He kept saying,”Oh you have to read it, it is so good, just don’t read it out in public.” I think you may be right, we are at the point where Baily is going to be put down, and I don’t think Barb can read that chapter.
5:55 pm on October 19th, 2011
Barb, Mom’s own litle personal opinion here is that the book is not that good, and the book does not get any happier as it goes along in the story.
It was in the lower reaches of the best-selling fiction list for awhile, so many people must have liked it.
This is not a nice thing to say, but it is almost as if the author of that book is trying to manipulate dog lovers.
5:58 pm on October 19th, 2011
Go Redbirds!!! Looking forward to this 1st game of the World Series. Sax in paws I await the opening pitch. Looks like a late-niter folks.
6:10 pm on October 19th, 2011
Siber, I think we are going to take your word for it – there is no sense in picking up a book and dread reading it.
Did anyone watch the movie The Lincoln Lawyer? We have that from Netflix, but may not watch it tonight. We like Harry’s Law and CSI, so it may have to wait.
6:12 pm on October 19th, 2011
Oh, that’s right, first game tonight. We will have to do some channel surfing for sure. Go Cardinals!
6:31 pm on October 19th, 2011
My morning comment is still being moderated. Two things I said were: Julian Barnes won the Man Booker Prize for Sense of an Ending. Also, a new VanGogh bio is out and I’ve ordered it.
6:36 pm on October 19th, 2011
I tried repeating some things from my comment this morning that is still being moderated and that comment is now being moderated. I’m getting irritated.
Julian Barnes won the Man Booker Prize for Sense of an Ending.
6:39 pm on October 19th, 2011
Rangers have guns, cardinals have feathers. heh heh
6:41 pm on October 19th, 2011
Barb, We have not seen the movie, The Lincoln Lawyer, but have read the book. It should be a decent movie. We liked the book.
6:42 pm on October 19th, 2011
Macy, Love your avatar!! Woo Woo
6:53 pm on October 19th, 2011
Hi everyone – dinner break around here.
Hi Bo and Mani! Welcome to the blog. This is the best little community you’ll ever find.
Melanie – LOVE the new car! Can you say “Road Trip for the Girls”?
This is a house divided. Basil and Sage have been cheering for the Cardinals all season. They seem to think they get to eat the winning team. Us Dogs, we are Rangers fans all the way – Rangers are kind of like herders, right?
But since Mama doesn’t give a hoot about baseball, we probably won’t know who wins until we read the blog tomorrow.
We will not be reading “A Dog’ Purpose” around here. We know what a dog’s purpose is….we live to love our people, no matter how scruffy they look getting out of bed, no matter how dusty their house is, no matter if they have tons of money, or if their finances are in a mess, no matter if they dress like fashion models or wear (shudder) Hawaiian pants.
Besides which, Mama (finally) decided a couple of years ago that she didn’t HAVE to finish a book, just cuz she started it. So now she gives a book a good try, but if its not her taste, away it goes. She says there are enough things she does HAVE to do – not gonna waste time of something she doesn’t.
And now, she’s gonna go back to what she does enjoy – CLAY! Yippeee!
7:00 pm on October 19th, 2011
T&G, we like your mom’s decision not to waste time on something she doesn’t enjoy. Kindle lets us get a free sample, and then decide if we want to buy the whole book.
We don’t have a Series pick. Once our Phillies lost, we lost interest.
7:06 pm on October 19th, 2011
I have three comments in moderation–two of them because I tried to rephrase what I had said in the first one. I give up.
7:13 pm on October 19th, 2011
Rio – reading back thru the day – don’t be mean to Natasha…she has enough problems. Didn’t you see her home report on Sunday? Once again, the poor dear got most everything wrong.
Kinda makes you think that is why she was sent so far away from the “home office”.
Bee-welcome to the wonderful, wacky world of moderation.
Ok, this time we are signing out for now. Bye all.
7:34 pm on October 19th, 2011
Welcome to the blog Bo&Mani. You will love it here!
Siber-H: Too bad about A Dog’s Purpose. It is next up in our library queue. Barb, Let us know what you think also.
O.Howlers: Your supper menu is making us hungry. Good comfort food for a fall evening. We love tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches! In fact that is where I am going right now. To the kitchen! – Bear
7:38 pm on October 19th, 2011
Just dropping in…
Bo and Mani: Welcome to Chet’s blog!!
Melanie: Nice wheels. I get blamed for everything at home too…
MollyPop’s Mom: Hugs and much love coming at you from Westchester.
Masquers, WeatherKat supreme: Your 10-day forekast is much appreciated. I love that quote from Winnie as well. He is full of wisdom, like the wise Bear.

Thank you all for the welcome…we were at the park today, it’s a great day in Texas.
The “poodle” is Bo…there is some fancy/dancy french name that goes with my name and has something to do with Napoleon Bonaparte, but Mom has assured my that I am not fancy/dancy, and I proved it today at the park. Watch out!
Mani is our Chihuahua mix. We found him under a car when he was about six months old. He informed us when he turned a year old that his name is Manuel Phillpe, but we really can’t get past that and he gets teased about that unmercifully. But he’s a good sport and life just wouldn’t be the same without him here.
My Mom says she uses BonAmi to clean the sink and she’s okay with any nicknames you guys choose…we know evil. There is a black cat that lives here. Her name is “Prissy”, because she is (I’ve heard Mom say that). And Mom’s getting all upset about keeping her safe over Howl O Scream because of her color. Her evilness can definitly take care of herself.
Well gotta go, almost game time, I think. Maybe Manuel can write the next blog…this is exhausting.

Hey!… She got home from the work-out place just in time to see the team members announced to the World in the first game of the World Series…woooooo!….Then we went upstairs and to eat supper…snort!… I begged some burger and fries off her mother while my friend was distracted watching the first inning on the small TV…burp!
Downstairs!…Watching the game on the bigger TV now….sneeze!…Couch covers are in the their rightful places and I have my Umpire doll close at paw to chew on just in case things get rough…grunt!…The Rangers are up to bat now in the 2nd inning….wheeze!

Bomani, we are a gnat’s whisker away from the ballpark in Arlington. What part of Texas do you call home? Gus and BooBear are near Houston.

B.Stover I did think about going to the Library this evening and getting “All Quiet”. I wimped out because it was and is pouring rain. Will go on Saturday.
YSAS was in a L&O SVU! He was going to be a plainclothes detective, then they had him change to a hot bartender, but eventually his role was a person sitting at a table near two detectives who get shot at while YSAS and someone else dive out of the way.
He’s been trying to get into SVU for years. Finally made it! Then he walked 3/4 of the way home and remembered he’d left 3/4 of his wardrobe there and had to go back for it. He walked back (20 blocks, and 2 Avenues), but indulged and took the bus home.
Dan and I bought a PUMPKIN! I love making jack-o-lanterns. Put it out for two nights lit and then give it to the Pack.
Well, might be back later, or I just might start hibernating again. I’ve had two naps today. I hate lows.

Clarkson!….What is a L&O SUV? (Law and Order?) …snort!…..And which show is Clarkson working on right now? …heh!…He has such an interesting life….((sigh))….GAME is ON again…heh!….Did you guys see that commercial with the Pug watching the big screen TV?…heh!…My friend says that could have been me doing that commercial in my sleep….sniff!

Tupper!….snort!… Now I can answer your question about the other workout place…heh!…My friend says she has become one with the Squat Machine….snort! …Also she likes going there very much. Although sometimes after work is hard because she is tired…sniff!…So the idea is to go every other day and walk the Brutal Walk with me inbetween…grunt!
Wow!….The Cards have the Bases loaded!…..Wooooooooo!….Puhols and Holiday score!…Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! …snort!…. Thank you Admin!…Wooooooooooooooooooooooo!…heh!

Welcome to Mani and Bo.
Staff: Sheesh! Is my room crammed full or what? Get it all out because I’m almost on my way.
One side of me is rooting for Texas and the other side is rooting for the Cardinals. The game is tied so I’m winning. 😉

I’m getting a very strange picture of Dawson tied in knots and still winning. i was going to tell you guys something else but Dog if I remember what it is . . .
Riö: Special Victims Unit . . . hmm. I thought if a stared long enough at the screen what I forgot would come back to me, but all that happened was the screen saver came on.
I’m joining Patsy. TTFN

I’m happy because I sent some photos to Melanie of items for the Musher’s Merchantile. Now I have to remember to pack the pictured items across the border when I come.

10:43 pm on October 19th, 2011
Well!…It’s about time everybody showed up…grunt!…I was all set to watch this game all alone with Admin. He hardly ever posts though. Far too busy sipping Cahors and jinxing the Rangers…heh!snort!
10:46 pm on October 19th, 2011
Natasha!…The 7th inning is called the “Stretch” inning…heh!…Everyone sings God Bless American and stretches which translates to everyone goes as fast as they can to get another beer!…heh!
10:51 pm on October 19th, 2011
It does make a dog dizzy with all the pitchers parading out of the bullpen. Mom says that baseball wasn’t always played like this.
10:51 pm on October 19th, 2011
Corona here.
10:52 pm on October 19th, 2011
Hey! Siber a post at the same time once again.
11:08 pm on October 19th, 2011
Hitters!….The Rangers big hitters are coming up…snort!…This would be scary and I would be chewing on the couch covers right about now except for the fact that Admin has totally taken the worry out of this game….chuffle!…. I know for an almost certain fact that the Cardinals are going to winnit!…heh!
11:11 pm on October 19th, 2011
Wheeze! I’m glad to see some still up at Chet’s. I spent the afternoon at Urgent Care. Nothing serious, but I snigglefritzed at the cost of one of the prescriptions.
I like Dawson’s approach to watching the game—cheer for both teams so your team wins.
11:14 pm on October 19th, 2011
That’s ok, just game 1. Go Rangers!
11:16 pm on October 19th, 2011
Cardinals!….WIN GAME ONE!…..Wooooooo!Wheeeee!….snort!snort!….What a great game!…heh!

11:16 pm on October 19th, 2011
What a game!!! I’m exhausted.
Bella! Oh, no. You sound like a sicko. What’s up?
11:18 pm on October 19th, 2011
Rebeccer!…What do you mean you spent the afternoon at Urgent Care?…grunt!….What happened?…sniff!
11:18 pm on October 19th, 2011
Rebecca, I hope you are okay.
bah…the last closer for the birdies looked like a Brian Wilson wannabe
We are turning in.
Good Night All
11:22 pm on October 19th, 2011
Bed!…I hope Rebeccer tells her Urgent Care story quickly because my friend is soooo ready for bed right now…snort!….She still doesn’t feel good and says she needs to get warm and get more sleep…sniff! …Luckily whatever happened to Rebeccer was not serious, just expensive it sounds like….grunt! ….Good night!…Wooooooooo! Cards Winnit!…Woooooooooo!
11:31 pm on October 19th, 2011
Bella: Sounds like you got some good stuff from the doc to help you out – even though it was expensive. Hope you will be feeling better in the am. Time to turn in here also. Good night Baseball Fans. Good morning Liz.
11:36 pm on October 19th, 2011
The long and the short of why I was at Urgent Care today is because of asthma. (Insert a borrowed wheeze from Rio, here). As an adult, I was diagnosed with severe astham. Yet, it seemed to all but vanished except for a minor episode here and there. It has felt like the last two weeks I’ve several small attacks until last night—it was a long night for both AJ and I—nothing seemed to work. I did my best to make it through the day, but one of my bosses told me the only thing she required of me today was to leave work and go to the doctor. So I did. With the new medicine, the doc says I should be breathing normal in the coming days.
Macy: Back problems—ouch! Wishing you a quick recovery.
Rose: Luna and Belle Starr are packed and plan to blur early in the morning. The sillies have been practicing their blurring around the kennel all week (to everyone’s annoyance).
11:48 pm on October 19th, 2011
Staff spent the game in the basement watching the big TV. It is cold down there, but I can watch little Nickie Punto make his great defensive plays and strike out. 😀
However I can’t post down there as the computer is on the 2nd floor.
It will be warm in the little bed tonight because Mr.Staff is back from the farm. Hope there is room for me now. That AbbietheKitty always tries to hog the bed.
Hope you are feeling better Rebecca. Those darn medicines cost a lot don’t they.
Nighty night all, including Bo and Mani
(Dawson, the room is cleaning up nicely, you won’t have any problems.)

Melanie, Newfies are not the only animals who like pumpkins. The Whooping Cranes have started their migration but weather has kept them on the ground and they need some action…..Enter the pumpkins! They have never seen pumpkins before. Love at first peck.

Melanie: ILOVE L&O SVU (although I miss Chris Meloni). Do you know when McKey’s episode will air?
Rebecca: Sorry to hear about your asthma. The Prof had very bad asthma for years, but it is well-controlled now.
Belle and Luna: Safe blurring! I’ll be waiting to greet you to New York.
Belle: I noticed picture of a Starr Belle under FOC. Humph!
