The word that comes to mind is “ridiculous.”
Good morning all.
8:38 am on February 13th, 2014
Good morning, everyone! Silly and labor intensive do 🙁 Chattanooga has come to a screeching halt.

HOH is romping and bringing in snow like crazy 🙂
8:38 am on February 13th, 2014
Hi B–I agree, what is with the poodle cut? (And what was going on with the Portugese Water dog’s cut the other night? Didn’t they show them with simpler clips before?
Good morning all…
8:44 am on February 13th, 2014
HOH–Whoa–didn’t see the TN picture before. Bundle up and fire up the tube if you can avoid going out, and have a delightful Thursday. (And if you have to be out and about, keep warm and have the best Thursday you can.)
9:30 am on February 13th, 2014
Hat tip to Gus Kenworthy, an Olympian, who is trying to save some puppies and bring them back to the U.S. for adoption. Hopefully they will let him.
The poodle cut originally was done for practical purposes. They left the hair longer on the paws and leg joints, the chest and an area over the kidneys. This was done to protect those area while the dog was in the cold water. Then the rest of the coat was cut shorter so the dog’s coat didn’t get too heavy in the water. What you see above is practicality carried to the extreme.
9:35 am on February 13th, 2014
We would NOT want to be a male Poodle who has to go play in the dog park with that silly cut, and yet have all his underbits hanging out.
You know all the other dogs are snickering.
There was a time and place for a poodle cut – water retrieving dog, hair on the joints and chest, yadda yadda. But this clip is SO exaggerated, SO sissified, SO “human”, it should be considered abuse.
Anyway – we have torrential snow here. We will call Melanie and see how she is, but may not venture out, since we live at the top of a steep hill, and there is a river right across the street from the bottom of the hill.
9:58 am on February 13th, 2014
Good morning All. I was embarrassed for the poor dog. Was glad he took runner-up prize for all he’s had to endure. Now he’s off to retirement. Wonder what he will look like propped in a lounge chair reading a book.
10:15 am on February 13th, 2014
I have decided to postpone my trip to Alaska for now. I’m not canceling, just planning to make the trip at a later date.
10:15 am on February 13th, 2014
T & G, Stay safe and stay out of that river. Tell Melanie hey for us too.
Talked to brother Dave in Raleigh N.C. last night. His usual
30 minute drive home took 3 hours and 45 minutes. He had to stop twice and help push people who had gotten stuck. He is staying home today. Smart move.
Barb is going up to Lake Geneva this afternoon to the Grand Geneva Resort to watch Lily and Ben ski. They are off school today. The Grand Geneva is the old Play Boy Club. Remember those? They have a nice sitting area with a fireplace and big windows where she can watch the kids and stay warm and toasty at the same time.
10:23 am on February 13th, 2014
Gaffaw!…I thought that was a she-poodle-dawg…snort!…Just glad I am a Wash N’ Wear kinda guy…chuffle!
10:24 am on February 13th, 2014
Mollys-Maw!!….Is everything okay?….wuffle!
10:28 am on February 13th, 2014
B&M, that sounds like a lovely way to spend the day…lovely and luxurious.
Thank dog the snow here is melting fast and it is 40F. The black Canadians are romping in it and dragging lots of heavy wet chunks in. I, the princess Pookey, am content to simply look out the window at it.
10:30 am on February 13th, 2014
CHobbit,
Don’t work too hard on the dog fur on our account. We will be pre-furred quests. Mr.Staff always comes with fur attached.
Really? Is that all that is left from the crowd that was going? Macy weren’t you going too? And Sharon HOH? I must have been reading every other word when you guys couldn’t make it.
Oh wait, Macy is just not staying at the hobbit hotel. Whew…
10:33 am on February 13th, 2014
We have about fourteen inches here. Young Theodore is having the time of his life outside in the snow. He can plough through it amazingly well too. Spent much of the morning shoveling our driveway (it’s a couple of hundred feet long at least). Fortunately, EVERYTHING in the DC Metro Area is shut down.
10:38 am on February 13th, 2014
HOH, If Barb didn’t have to drive she would sit by the fire and have an Irish coffee or two. Irish whiskey, coffee and whipped cream on top.
10:40 am on February 13th, 2014
Macy, You are still coming aren’t you?…sniff
10:47 am on February 13th, 2014
We think Macy said her peeps were heading north on the 18th since thay have family there.
Our peeps will miss MPM there 🙁 Mom and the Daddy Dawg are already packed and drooling like a newf with a cheeto over it’s head 🙂
11:03 am on February 13th, 2014
Poodle looks ridiculous, poor thing. The Standard Poodle is such a good looking dog, normally. For example: Mollypop!
Awwww! Mollypop and Loulou’s Mom: I will miss seeing you up in Alaska.
Snow!
HOH: That is a real Tennessee Snow Storm! Do not go out on the roads today.
Wookie & Teddie’s Ma & Pa: Fourteen inches!!! That is a ton of snow. I can just picture Teddy having a blast in the snow.
Take your cue from Teddy and don’t fight it, just enjoy the snow.
T&G: Say hello to Melanie from us, then have a nice day at home.
CHobbit: I will be a pre=furred guest. I’m glad you will be staying at home with us!
11:13 am on February 13th, 2014
Dawson, I bought some traveling cards. I let the Turtleman play with them last Friday night and he doesn’t want me to take them out of the house. He wants to use them here. He says if I take them I will lose one and it will ruin the deck. I told him “good try”. Heh
CHobbit, tell me you are having snow up there…please. LOTS of snow…
11:14 am on February 13th, 2014
It wasn’t that long ago you were having trouble shoveling snow over your head! Grump. Those were the good old days…snicker.
11:22 am on February 13th, 2014
We have about 10 or 12 inches of new snow already, and this storm is supposed to last until tomorrow morning. It is wet snow, sometimes mixed with freezing rain/sleet/ice.
Aunt MPM! What is wrong?
11:52 am on February 13th, 2014
MPM, Hope you are OK.
Howlers, we just mailed off the packages of organic tomato seeds to our hippie organic gardener guy to raise for us. Soon we can start boring everyone with our incessant heirloom tomato chatter.
11:55 am on February 13th, 2014
O’Howlers: I was hoping you’d be spared from the snowstorm because you have to drive to work on those roads. Be careful!
I am not packed yet. I got the suitcases out but that is it.
Remember the leak I had in the bathroom a couple months ago? I hired a handyman to remodel the bathroom and he is doing a great job. So great that the man in this house hired him to show him how to finish the stairway in hardwood. So there is a great pounding and the awful smell of some glue. I ask you, could this not have waited until I was gone?
12:04 pm on February 13th, 2014
Dawson, it could have but the male of the species loves to annoy. Men, hard to live w/o them, illegal to kill them.
12:16 pm on February 13th, 2014
Dawson, mom is 1) watching Canada/Norway hockey on USA channel and 2) building a snow Newf…fotos to follow.
12:35 pm on February 13th, 2014
Hockey!….NO SPOILERS!….grunt!…I am going to wait till my friend gets home to watch the first USA Mens Hockey game….snort!
12:46 pm on February 13th, 2014
Rio – in the first scrimmage, one team punted for 3 points and the other team got a home run. Then the umpire threw a flag on the play, and there was a 10 yard penalty. But we aren’t sure if it was on the infield or outfield team.
Melanie sends her love to everyone. She will be spending the day sleeping and watching (lousy) day time tv.
1:10 pm on February 13th, 2014
Josh has been having an allergic reaction to something, where he gets an edema. Tongue has swollen, throat, neck, face etc. Has done some allergy testing and they haven’t found anything so far. We are wondering if it is stress related, but someone else mentioned gluten. Do any of you gluten intolerant people know if this is a possible reaction? Sort of scary, because sometimes he has trouble swallowing and breathing.
1:32 pm on February 13th, 2014
Josh says wheat is one of the things they tested. That was negative so I assume if he is not allergic to wheat he would not be allergic to gluten. Is that correct?
1:48 pm on February 13th, 2014
The poor Poodle….That is what we think about what idiot humans have done to that dog. Mollypop was beautiful.
Barb, Baseball season starts before tomato season. (I’m teasing)
I would trade places with one of you that are having snow. It is t-shirt weather for two-leggeds here.
We are sending our love and hugs out to Melanie.
1:51 pm on February 13th, 2014
HOH, Pretty picture out your window this morning.
Barb is off to watch the kids on the ski slopes. Won’t be back till dinner time. Everyone have a good afternoon.
1:53 pm on February 13th, 2014
Sorry, Barb, no info on that front.

Here is the TN Olympic Queen…
More silliness to follow…
1:54 pm on February 13th, 2014
Siber, You are right, we have The Baseball Faction and The Tomato Faction on this here blog.
Now Barb is leaving for real.

2:40 pm on February 13th, 2014
Had an inch of fresh snow on the ground this morning and it is to snow today. Hoping for more. It is to snow on the 19th but that is 2 days after they make the decision about where to start the Iditarod. Later….
2:53 pm on February 13th, 2014
HOH! Love the Snow Newf!
2:56 pm on February 13th, 2014
Cute snow Newfie! Someone more talented than me should find a way to save the ice Newf photos for Melanie and Zoe.
3:04 pm on February 13th, 2014
I like the snow newf.
3:09 pm on February 13th, 2014
Siber Mr H…too late, sent Zoe and Melanie individual snow newfs of their own 🙂
3:58 pm on February 13th, 2014
Zoe here, we got beautiful Snow Newf pictures on our E mail. I sent them on to Melanie and Martha. Melanie called. She rested today, but they could not resist one more scan.
4:23 pm on February 13th, 2014
Gah!…How many scans one can person endure?…grump!
4:26 pm on February 13th, 2014
Rio, ask Melanie, she seems to hold the record for scans!
5:20 pm on February 13th, 2014
Poor Melanie – she gives a whole new meaning to “A Cat(scan) Was Involved”
6:13 pm on February 13th, 2014
Olympic accident. Apparently a track worker at the bobsled site was on the track and got hit. 2 broken legs and a possible concussion 🙁
6:22 pm on February 13th, 2014
Alice!….Here kitty kitty!…snort!
6:45 pm on February 13th, 2014
Rio – BAD doggie, bad bad doggie!
tee hee
6:57 pm on February 13th, 2014
HOH unanimously votes the cat scan a 10 on the LOL scale. Good boy, Rio.
7:17 pm on February 13th, 2014
Me and my crew training for the small dog, no snow Iditarod.

7:20 pm on February 13th, 2014
Love the snow newf and Macy, you go girl! Small dog sled team ready to go!
8:12 pm on February 13th, 2014
Sidewalk!…I would love to live where I could see the sidewalks year round….snort!…Although, I can’t complain about not going for our walks because there are lazy people who do not shovel their parts….chuffle!
8:44 pm on February 13th, 2014
Macy, you and your team are looking good!
8:53 pm on February 13th, 2014
The Iditarod will be here before we know it! All we need now is some snow beneath the Northern Lights.
Mom took a vacation and took 5 cats to be spayed and neutered. A wealthy couple made a Large donation to the clinic and it was free, free, free! Mom didn’t feel too guilty because these were the strays that wandered into our hearts just before Christmas.
She is taking tomorrow off also so that she can keep an eye on them.
We are still worried about Melanie…
9:24 pm on February 13th, 2014
Wolfie!….Yer Maw is a sucker for free-loading Kats…grunt!…I just don’t get it…,sniff!
9:27 pm on February 13th, 2014
Great pictures of the SnoNewf and Macy’s team.
High five to Wolfie’s mom.
Long day, going to watch some Olympics. Be back tomorrow.
Sleep well Melanie and Boobear’s dad and anyone else under the Quilt.
9:31 pm on February 13th, 2014
HOH adopted a feral cat. The deal is she doesn’t go in the backyard and we won’t eat her. She keeps the chipmunk population down in the front and in really nasty weather, the Daddy Dawg puts some cat food out for her.
9:33 pm on February 13th, 2014
SiberH!….Finally some of the Sliding-Down-Ice-On-Yer-Belly sports starting – The Skeleton….Wooooooo!…Soon the Luge and the Bobsled will be coming along…snort!snort!
9:39 pm on February 13th, 2014
HoHo!…Beau is constantly on Kat-Watch all day. This involves him watching for feral Kats at all times except when he is sleeping and they come right up on the patio and peek in at him sleeping through the window…chorkel!…Her mother puts food out for them everyday and this pisses both me and Beau off to no end…grump!…But I do not partake in Kat-Watch – that is for youngsters…sniff!
9:47 pm on February 13th, 2014
Rio, I am so ready for the Bobsled events!!
BMW designed our two man Bobsled. It should go FAST!!
Myself, I do skunk watch.
9:49 pm on February 13th, 2014
Beautiful tonight…”the moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow” . The snow is almost gone, The snow newfie’s tongue looks like drool. We are going down for the nighty night.
9:50 pm on February 13th, 2014
FAST!….These gals on The Skeleton get up to speeds of 80 miles an hour…wheeze!…I wonder if Gilly would reach that speed sliding down on her little feathered buttocks…snort!
9:54 pm on February 13th, 2014
Katie!…USA s at the TOP!…snort!snort!…I do not think she, Katie Ulaender, has ever placed before…wheeze!…How exciting!
10:13 pm on February 13th, 2014
Backwards!….Have Freestyle Skiers always skied backwards into a huge jump?…gulp!…I may be behind the freestyle times, but I have never seen this before….zow!
10:18 pm on February 13th, 2014
Rio, I thought the same thing when I first saw it (last night?) I think it must be something new.
10:21 pm on February 13th, 2014
Moon? What moon? We can’t see anything but snow here. And then there is wind. and thunder.
10:22 pm on February 13th, 2014
Backwards slopestyle skiing!
Did that skiier’s pants just fall off when he landed that jump? (snicker)
10:22 pm on February 13th, 2014
SiberH!…It is probably just New to us…snort!…We are behind the times pal…wheeze!…That’s why I like the Bobsled and the Luge. You can’t really change that whole dynamic…heh!heh!
10:24 pm on February 13th, 2014
Dawson!….Not SlopeStyle, this is downhill FreeStyle skiing…snort!…They ski backwards a lot these days…heh!heh!
10:43 pm on February 13th, 2014
Dawson, Yep, his pants fell off. The photo was on the internet today.
Rio, I agree. It has been 4 years since the last Winter Olympics and I haven’t watched any of the extreme winter sports on tv during those 4 years.
10:43 pm on February 13th, 2014
Curling!….One of the Hot-Shots favorite sports is Curling…snort!…Go figure. This goes against everything I would imagine as one of his favorites…sniff!…But he is known to get up at all hours of the night to watch the finals. Unbelievable….wheeze!…He pointed out the Norwegian outfits to my friend even before Dawson pointed them out on the blog…heh!heh!…A true fan.
11:00 pm on February 13th, 2014
Wow!
Rio: Now I am very impressed with the Hot Shot! I’ve never known an American who curled or watched curling.
Several people from this little town went to Vegas a few weeks ago for some big curling event.
11:03 pm on February 13th, 2014
For those of you wanting to see a moose in Alaska…Sadie and I were 10 minutes from home walking on a trail through the woods (which goes to an elementary school). I noticed Sadie peering ahead and looked up and saw a baby moose in the trees 10 feet away on one side of the trail. My biggest fear is that mama moose was on the other side of the trail and would charge us. Fortunately, Sadie was even more eager to do an about face and leave. She was pulling the leash so hard, I should have been wearing skis and we could have called in skijoring. That little dog can pull!
Alaska is gaining 5 minutes of daylight everyday. Whoo hoo! Right now it is pretty dark at 6:15 and I am hoping that by the time the Plunderers arrive it will be mostly light until 7:00.
11:04 pm on February 13th, 2014
Whoops!….I may have mislead you about him actually Curling himself…sniff!…Damned grammar. He likes to watch the sport of Curling – it is right up there with Hockey….grunt!
11:07 pm on February 13th, 2014
CHobbit!…Be still my pug-heart!…wheeze!….Promise me no matter how hard those Plunderer Guests beg to see a Moose, do not let them go near one….snort!…Especially that Mr. Staff guy…wuffle!
11:15 pm on February 13th, 2014
Maybe I should give Curling another try. I was impressed to learn that all the curling rocks come from Scotland.
I watched a tv program once about all the moose in Anchorage. Take care C.Hobbit and Sadie.
Night All

The Giant shared on Facebookie that I’m under the Quilt. He didn’t use those words, but that is the jist of it. I’ve been meaning to post earlier, but every time I got on this here blog, I would see the photo of the poodle with his wonder-what-in-the-world-they-were-thinking-fluffiness and would have to look away. Forget the embarassment of it all, I worry about how he keeps his undercarriage warm.
Melanie: It’s nice to meet you under the Quilt, but I wish it were under better circumstances. The Giant fed me Slim Jims a couple of days ago. That was a first for me. Delish! Have you asked for a Slim Jim in an IV drip? I bet you’d be feeling tip-top in no time.
Curling! I know my Lady has curly hair, but I didn’t know that was a ‘Lympic sport. Wow! You learn something new every day. She says she likes to watch curling as well. Does this mean she likes to watch her hair dry?—To each their own, I guess.
11:23 pm on February 13th, 2014
Fun trivia fact for you curling fans. The last batch of granite for curling stones was harvested in 2011. They figure that should do until at least 2020 before more will be needed.
Ok, someone really needs to kick mom in the bootay to get her moving towards Alaska. At least she is getting a haircut tomorrow so no one will mistake her for a sheep dog.
Prayers and concern for Linda the Lurker’s husband.
11:23 pm on February 13th, 2014
Garcia!…snort!…You may be feeling under the weather, but your sense of humor is out-on-the-town…snorkel!
11:25 pm on February 13th, 2014
Humor? Was I being funny without knowing it? I love it when that happens.
Linda the Lurker’s Husband: I’m out of practice, but I’d be honored to be your pillow. Don’t mind the smell of Slim Jims. They cure what ails you.
11:26 pm on February 13th, 2014
What!…What!?….What is up with Linda The Lurkers hubby?….wheeze!…How come I am always the last to know anything? ….gruffle!
11:29 pm on February 13th, 2014
Calling all Smoochers: We will be keeping a low profile in the bedazzled ambulance while Melanie gets some sleep tonight, but be on the ready with your disguises and best coverstory if in the event we get found out.
I am deputizing Mr. WolfieWiggle Butt, Coach and BSD because of the need we have for our Lurker’s husband and for Mr. BooBear’s Dad. Wigglebutt and BSD: Please report for duty asap.
11:35 pm on February 13th, 2014
Macy: We meant to tell you earlier, we give you a 10 for technique, degree of difficulty and style. Belle Starr deducted several points for lack of sparkle, but the lowest score does not count.
11:38 pm on February 13th, 2014
Pants!…I just saw the Pants come down….heh!heh!…Now it is time for me to go to my warm soft bed…snorkel!
12:32 am on February 14th, 2014
I was having fun quilting today and tomorrow I will be having more fun at the quilt store. Yawn. But I had to stay up late to catch up on the blog.
Rio, Alice knows you said something rude about her and she says “PBBTTTHHH” back at you…snicker.
1:45 am on February 14th, 2014
I am preparing to blur to Mr Lurker even as I speak. If he is anything like Mrs Lurker, his heart is strong and true, but it never hurts to get things checked out from time to time.
1:50 am on February 14th, 2014
We are curious what it would take for us to qualify for the two man—or dog—luge in the next Winter Olympics. We like going fast, but we are not sure about wearing spandex in public. We should give this some more thought before we dive headlong into a strict training program.
1:52 am on February 14th, 2014
Mr. Wigglebutt: Mr. Lurker is in good paws. Speaking of Wigglebutt, the vet called Junior Wigglebutt yesterday at vet checks. Seems our little laddie wouldn’t hold still during his EKG.
9:48 am on February 14th, 2014
Aww–Poor kitty (not that I won’t be forwarding this along to a number of people).
Those of you in the cold part of the country may take some comfort in knowing that MY ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD was without electricity for 16 hours yesterday. No hot food (can’t get the stove to ignite w/o the little electric thing that starts it) no hot water for showers (ditto) and no cooked food. Also having to read about Chet and Bernie by solar flashlight isn’t optimal.
Rejicing in my good fortuine today and (I hope) in good news for Melanie and everyone under the quilt.
Happy VD everyone.
9:49 am on February 14th, 2014
Aaagh! sorry that went up twice (and it should have read “fortune”).

I’m really impressed together with your writing talents as smartly as with the structure on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway stay up the nice quality writing, it’s uncommon to see a great blog like this one today..
