Westminster
“Westminster Dog Show’s coming up next week,” Spence says.
“Monday and Tuesday,” says Admin. “Always fun to watch – especially the human handlers when they’re running. But the whole thing’s kind of the polar opposite of the Iditarod, don’t you think?”
“Not so sure about that,” Spence says. “While I mull it over, here are some fun Westminster facts from dogchannel.com.”

Good Morning All!
Perhaps Westminster is the “Polar” (heh heh) opposite of the Iditarod. We don’t know much about the training involved for dog shows, but we do know how hard Shiek had to be trained to compete in horse shows. So while the sport of Endurance Racing is very different than the sport of Horse Shows, we do believe both are sports, and both require much training and conditioning. They are just different and the conditioning is different.
Speaking of Shiek: No, Dawson, Shiek will not be riding along with Snowhook in the Iditarod. He is an Arab and has about as much desire to visit that frigid land as T.C. does. Buddy, on the other hand, was dieing to go along, but we nixed him. AJ’s sled needs to not be carrying any more weight than necessary. We determined that it was necessary for us huskies to be on the sled, but not Buddy the cat.
T&G, the card you posted last night was really really nice. Thanks for that.
9:34 am on February 10th, 2012
So sorry, B. Mom says that was supposed to be dying.
If a person dies, why is the process spelled “dying” ?

Admin!…What a punster he is!…heh!…FRIDAY! WOOOOOOOOO!…And there are donuts! Let the Tag-Team begging begin!…wheeze!

I’ve been seeing the tv ad for the Westminster. A Doberman is in it.
The same is true of tie/tying. I don’t know why.
10:01 am on February 10th, 2012
I love Westminster. My kind has all this beautiful long flowing hair while I have this stupid buzz cut. I can do that blurry leg running except I like to break into a gallop. Now that’s how to get somewhere in a hurry.

Good morning all.
Barb likes to watch the Westminster Show, but she doesn’t get excited about it because there are no ES in it. We are UKC registered, not AKC so we do not compete.
Still no results back on my hip evaluation, so no decision as to future motherhood, but Barb says I am to cut out any and all flirting, and stop acting like a floozie, whatever that means.
10:08 am on February 10th, 2012
(Dima here) Maggie, please do not stop flirting. Tell Barb that I am harmless, and quite the Ladies’ Man.
Sibes are in Westminster, but seldom get picked in their group.
10:19 am on February 10th, 2012
Wheeee! My pic is up top! I want to know what cut those fast people did on the Snowhook puzzle. I didn’t get under 5:30 drat it all. I use the 48 piece classic. grump.
I sent a donation to those horses. I had a little left over after the bootie bonanza.

Wolfie – Leo is our girl’s 19 year old quarter horse/paint. He came into our lives when he was 3 and she was 13; she trained him. He is thriving after colic surgery two years ago (thank you Purdue V*E*T School) and Mom thought that kind of determined spirit might be of service to AJ and the team. Howlers – he loves cold weather and snow and hates flies.
10:36 am on February 10th, 2012
Bluecat, we think Leo makes a great addition to our Snowhook team! And we feel for you going thru colic surgery…mighty scary stuff.
Shiek had surgery at U of Penn’s New Bolten Vet School to have his eye removed when he was 20. Saddest, most miserable day of our mom’s life. However, Shiek being how he is, he was/is still a great riding horse. If anything, he became a better horse to control, because he had to rely on Mom’s legs for “sight”.

Thanks Staff, That is one happy dog having fun in the snow.
I don’t watch dog shows because I get bored watching the dogs trot around in circles.
I laughed at Rio’s post last night about me finding my way around the internet. So true.
I got teary eyed reading Rebecca’s post about the time Whitey-Lance went missing. Whitey’s story, and he is sticking to it, is that he was just on vacation.
10:50 am on February 10th, 2012
Good day all!
We love to watch Westminster sitting on the couch with Mama. We don’t get too upset that the Corgi never wins group cuz Mama has explained that the most beautiful Corgis in the world aren’t competing as it wouldn’t be fair to those other mere mortal Corgis.
(why are Basil and Sage rolling on their backs laughing their furry little butts off?)
And since the best Corgis aren’t there- it would be remarkable if a Corgi won group. ( but we would be thrilled if they did).
Howlers – good for you keeping your Wrotten Kats from weighing down the sled. Mama said we have to let ours go along. (whispering-we’re thinking there nay be a chance to push them off the sled somewhere along the race route- but don’t tell Mama!)
10:56 am on February 10th, 2012
Westminster!….Every year I sit on the couch with my friend and we watch the show…snort!…And every year when the Pug is trotting around the ring, she says “Why doesn’t my pug look like that guy?”….grunt!

Tyb update: he’s doing the stairs onto the back porch slowly, so he has to stay home and rest today. Friday is his day to work at the Ellicottville store and his fans will be disappointed. No trying to get in the car, no meeting and greeting shoppers. Too soon for anything but resting.
It is Jay’s family that has the medical emergency, not Jay. His brother’s mother-in-law is in a hospital in Buffalo and Jay has been driving back and forth from Bradford, Pa. which is a long haul. So far the roads have been fine, but snow is forecast for tonight.
11:05 am on February 10th, 2012
Good morning everyone!
Grump. Just when I thought my puzzle time was getting better, Staff informs us it was a “baby” puzzle, not the 48 piece she did.
11:06 am on February 10th, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom, Thanks for the update on Jay and TYB. We hope TYB continures to improve.
11:19 am on February 10th, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom, How are you feeling?
Kirby, I hope your mom is better today?
11:23 am on February 10th, 2012
Royals: We understand. Not often Belgian Malinois are chosen in their class either, although some of us, like you, are quite handsome, better looking than those show dogs I agree.
O.Howlers: We can understand why Shiek isn’t interested in traveling to the far North, but would have enjoyed his company on the trip. Your guy has been through a lot. A brave spirit.
MollyPop’s Mom: It is reassuring to know TYB continues to improve. Please tell him we think about him everyday and he is wished a speedy recovery. We hope Jay’s family member will get better soon.
Sammy: You are a beautiful princess…no matter what hair style.
Did you see Chet’s facebookie page is at 3,000 friends? Seems not too long ago he was going for 1,000.
11:44 am on February 10th, 2012
Siber-H – This second antibiotic seems to be doing the trick. I must be getting better because I’m really grumpy today. I’m going to spend some time with Safety Patrol hosting so I’m not on skis yet. I’ll do that tomorrow morning and then I can go spend the weekend with Sammie. She will be in big trouble if she jumps up and down on me while I’m trying to sleep.
I’ll come back to ski country, hopefully all well, on Monday when a priest friend is coming from Buffalo. He’s bring some nuns who are here from India and they want to see skiing. I said bring boots and we can go right on the ski hill. This will be fun!

Nuns!…On skiis!…snort!…That I gotta see!..heh!
12:10 pm on February 10th, 2012
Glad Mollypop’s mom is getting better. Glad Tyb is getting better. Hoping for the best for Jay’s brother’s mil. Also Kirby’s mom.
Mom told us that when she brought her first husky home, she had daydreams of how cool it would be to move to Alaska and be a musher and one day run the Iditarod. Now that she is old and hears Rebecca tell us about the conditions there, she has no idea what she was thinking.

Siber & Howlers: I found this picture of Karin Hendrickson’s lead Sibes.

MollysMom: The weather map is kool. Our forecast is for rain, rain, rain…..
1:37 pm on February 10th, 2012
OleyHowlers, it’s the Romance of the North! (just can’t let reality get a foot hold in your brain!)
Nuns on skis. Want a picture, MollyPop’s Mom. Glad you are feeling grumpy.
Zoë’s scan went fine. Didn’t take long at all. Bess went to Westminster! She did us proud.
Beautiful picture of Sibes.
Maquers, I thought I had it made doing the puzzle. Then Staff said she was doing the 48 piece. Sigh. I’m with you there.
1:41 pm on February 10th, 2012
Thanks Masquers! The woman’s name with the Sibers who is running the Iditarod is Karen Ramstead. So, I wonder if there isn’t a Karen Hendrickson somewhere with Sibers.
That is a really neat weathermap. My forecast is for nothingness and it is 10 degress colder at Rio’s than here.
1:46 pm on February 10th, 2012
I didn’t say the nuns were going to be on skis. I’m taking them, walking with their boots on, to the bottom of the ski trails. They’ll see the skiers come zooming in right past them.
If the nuns decide they would like to try it, I can get them the equipment and a quick lesson. Since I’m a Safety Patroller, I can’t let them be on the hill without some training.
And talking about Safety, I have to go do my Hosting. On Fridays, we have 92 busloads of Ski Club kids arrive. Trust me, I will stay far away from them. It’s not safe out there. I used to do that but I’m way too old for that now.
1:46 pm on February 10th, 2012
Masquers, I found it! There is a Karen Hendrickson that is running the Iditarod. Those are beautiful dogs, but I don’t think they are true Sibers. Doesn’t matter, all of us sled dogs are of the same northern tribe.

Trying to catch up with my life. Not sure it’s working …
Anyhoo, the pictures that are going on the trail are to be 4 X 6, correct?

Masquers, those are great-looking huskies.
The mushers we have set up totrack in the Iditarod (at least for now) are:
Justin Savidis (isn’t he that Giant?)
Karen Ramstead
Karen Debruin
Ally Zirkle
Jeff King
And by popular demand, heeeeere’s Kat!
2:55 pm on February 10th, 2012
woops! how’d that happen? That was supposed to read Hank Debruin…not Karen.

Invite!….Melanie, my friend thinks that is the most beautiful wedding invitation she has ever seen in her entire life!…snort!snort!… And I personally want to thank you for the invitation to the party after the wedding ceremony…heh!heh!…Rockie and his hill-billy gang of friends say they will be there too!…chuffle!
4:15 pm on February 10th, 2012
Melanie – This is all beautiful beyond belief. How did she make the seed paper?
4:17 pm on February 10th, 2012
So many neat pictures today! Love the husky running in the snow, and the wolf and Kat.
Melanie, tried to enlarge the wedding invite so I could read it better, but it didn’t enlarge. Love the idea of the seed paper.
Saw a dog on a Nova special the other day that could identify several hundred items by name. They put the objects in another room and asked her for them by name. She would go get them. Then they made it more difficult and showed her another identical item, but much smaller in size. She could still go pick out the correct thing and return it. Then they really upped it – they showed her a picture of what they wanted, and guess what? She could look at the picture and go pick out the correct item. She had only worked with name recognition before, so the other two tests were totally new. Pretty cool!
4:36 pm on February 10th, 2012
It is a beautiful wedding invitation.
Kat and Wolf, You are beautiful, too.

Hello Everybody,
We’re back for now. Thanks all of you for the good wishes and positive thoughts you sent my way, and thanks Mollypop’s Mom for keeping everyone up to date on our week from Hell. We worked on Monday. After work because it was such a gorgeous day, my dad took me to the ball field to run. I had a great time, and everything seemed good at the end of the day. Tuesday I became lame at the store in the morning. My dad thought I must has strained something on the run. He called the vet who said to watch me for a day or two and see what happens. Two hours later I couldn’t move. A call to the vet and she told us to come in, but that we might have to wait to get squeezed in. We drove 92miles to the animal hospitan in Buffalo and were there for almost 4 hours. It seemed that my problem stemmed from a strain or sprain from my run. I was sent home with some pain pills. When we got home, the message light on the phone was blinking. Dad’s brother had called to say that his MIL had had two strokes and was being rushed to a Buffalo Stroke Center. Neither my uncle nor his wife know
Buffalo and they were afraid to make the drive. They asked us to drive them in.
Arriving at the hospital we found MIL in the emergency room where she would remain for 18 hours before they found and empty bed for her. She was stable and we were sent home. We arrived at 5:15 AM and crashed. At 6:00 some friends called to see how I was doing. At nine we left for Buffalo again to see how things were going and to be with MIL. Since my dad had a commitment that evening he came home for 3 hours and drove back to Buffalo to pick up the family. Thursday was only one round trip to Bflo and today while we were driving in we got a call that MIL would be discharged and we could bring her home. We did and we hope that’s the last Buffalo trip for a while. I say we when talking about the trips, but I shouldn’t. I did not go along. I stayed home to recuperate, and I think that’s why I recovered so quickly. I’m still a bit sore, but the pain pills keep me relatively comfortable. There is the story of our week and the reason that we haven’t been on the blog. As it appears now, I should be able to keep
up with things here. Of course, all of that can change in a hurry. Again thanks
for caring.
8:04 pm on February 10th, 2012
Drive!…. Mr. Tibbs, just reading that story makes me feel car-sick…gah!… Oh my gosh, Jay is a true hero for all he did for his family in need…sniff!…What a guy! I’m very glad to hear you are feeling better, if not Tip-Top yet. Next time you run around in the ball field take it a little easier, will ya?…snort!….Heck, when I go to a ball field all I want to do is get some food and cold beer and watch a ball game….chorkel!….That’s the difference between me and you pal, yet I feel Tip-Top….heh!
8:10 pm on February 10th, 2012
Good dog! Week from Hell is right! TYB, how in the world did your dad manage all that driving and stress on top of worrying about you? You are very lucky to have him for a dad. The good news is you are getting better and your uncle’s mil is out of the hospital. Now we hope your dad can take a much deserved break.
B: When will the carpet be installed? What color is it?
8:19 pm on February 10th, 2012
TYB, I’m glad you are okay. I hope your Dad doesn’t ache from all the driving.
A real WFH! Both of you take at easy.
Need to go to bed, but I’m leaving you guys with 2 pictures of 16 by a guy named Seth Casteel. It’f from Dogs Underwater. I’ll try to post some more tomorrow. All sixteen are on Zoe’s FB page.

TYB, Your dad deserves to stay home and be a couch potato this weekend. Way too much driving this week. At least you are feeling better, if not quite tip top yet.
Barb brought a pizza home so I got some yummy crusts. I would prefer the cheese and sausage, but I’m not complaining.

TYB That was the week from hell. May the next week be a peaceful one and you continue to recover. REST is called for now.
You are right, Rio. Those pictures are the stuff of my nightmares. Add to that Mollypop Mom’s 92 school busses full of kids at the ski area…well, you get the picture. I may have a long night. I will just have to think about the Iditarod and Baseball Season.

Hi Gang!
ITs been a busy day here. Mama had to deliver a proposal for a new project – more about that after March 2nd.
Anyay, while she was in that town, she went visiting – kind of a neat little town with interesting places to go. She started at a gallery that used to be very high-brow and snobby with “fine art only”. Now its a much friendlier place with lots of local artists represented – truly from the sublime to the ridiculous, but it was FUN. Up the street from that is a huge store for making felt-no not like the squares you get at the craft store – REAL felt from raw wool that they make into remarkable things from rugs to dresses to dolls to jewelry. The colors of the wool are incredible – deep teals, rich burgundy, elegant blues. Mama is just hooked and now she wants to start playing with wool too. Aftet that she went to a REAL Mexican restaurant – one where they make their own mole` and have real nopalitos. Heavenly! They also have a family owned grocery store in that town with incredible fresh baked treats, locally produced meats and interesting produce.
After she spent the day playing in town, she went and got her fired pottery from her teacher, and has been working happily in her Mud Room ever since.
What a wonderful day!
Siber – we are with you – those pictures and the thoughts of all those kids would give us nightmares too. We would rather think about those fresh baked things from that store.
Redbone – Where have you been sir? Good to hear from you.
Tyb – VERY glad to hear that you are feeling better. Please do take it easy next time you go to the park.
Bee and MollyPop’s Mom -they are predicting snow for us here tomorrow – waaaaahhhhh!

Tyb: Thank you for checking in. You and your pop have been in my thoughts. I know you’re taking good care of each other.
KirbyT: Did your mom receive the SDD at her busy place?
Nana: SDD received. Pondering…
I’ve been in a footwear frenzy today. I picked up the booties this afternoon and went straight away to the store for booties for AJ. They didn’t have any in his size. They’re on back order. Yikes and gulp! I made some frantic phone calls and found the only pair in his size within driving distance. They have them on hold for me until tomorrow afternoon. Whew! I’ve picked up food for AJ and will start packaging, sealing and freezing when I get home.
I’m going to keep my avatar where I can see it. Natasha must be bored while on a stakeout or something else that super spies do.

I came home to drop bag packing in full swing. Everything was everywhere and I added to it with booties and food. Among the piles of food sorted for each drop bag were goodies from the Royals, Gus and BooBear, and KirbyT!

Anyone suggest these kinds of remark pockets? It’s merely part of the layout My partner and i developed and had developed into parajumpers pas cher http://www.trackteur.fr/images/parajumpers-soldes/ the WP design. It isn’t the wordpress extension.
