Good morning, everyone! Sounds like quite a gathering in Scottsdale. We don’t care if ‘fuzz butts” have hairy tails or not, we’ll find ’em.
    Have a million dollar Monday!

My breed, English Shepherds do really well at the barn hunt. “Vermin eradication” is one of the things we were bred for.

Morning all. We had a late night. It was after 11:00 when the Oscars were over.

Staff wanted to know two categories – Best Original Score was The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Best Picture was Birdman, which also got Best Original Screenplay and Best Director.

It is a given that Magpie would like the Barnhunt Best. Heh.

Staff: Don’t feel bad…Nana fell asleep and missed all but the last 20 Minutes of the Oscars…and since she had planned to watch it, it was Not Recorded either.

We didn’t watch the ostentatious oscars. We did see the first people to hit the red carpet -John Legend and his wife/girlfriend(?) whose dress was slit literally up to her crotch. She giggled and bounced to be sure all her assets were noted.
We thought an evening of watching Hercules Poirot sounded much more interesting.

    Greetings!

Royal Mum, we here do not watch the Academy Awards either. Too many actors go on a political rant instead of giving an acceptance speech.

I am very glad that J.K. Simmons won Best Supporting Actor. He was terrific in “Whiplash.” Grizz and I both enjoyed that film.
“Birdman” is a horrible movie. Grizz and I both enjoyed “Boyhood”, “Whiplash”, and “American Sniper.”

Personally, speaking as a Member of the Nation Within, I have always believed these types of events are Not Real. But then very little the 2-leggeds Believe is Real is.

Wose: We have not seen any of the Oscar Contenders…from last year or this. Behind the times we are.

No Oscar here, either. Mom says movies are so loud that they hurt her ears and she wants to howl. Believe us, amigos, she can howl with the best of them.

Good morning. We didn’t watch the Oscars. We seldom watch any awards show, because if you aren’t in that particular industry or hobby or sport, there does not seem to be a reason to watch them all give each other pats on the back. Exceptions are made for mushing awards ceremonies, though.

Gone Girl was engrossing, but when it was over, we weren’t satisfied with that ending.

We have white stuff on the ground! Sleet and ice and mom is not going to work. Already she is anxious and ready for a nap, but it is only 10:30 and she already had a mini-nap.

We watched Downton Abbey and forgot all about the oscars. I think we will watch them now and fast forward through the boring bits. Has anyone else watched the Great British Baking Show? Great fun, and I don’t even cook.

Meet the Breed is an excellent feature of that dog show. They should do it at all dog shows.

Macy got snow and I didn’t. It is going to warmer today and tonight in Anchorage than it is here or Ft. Worth.

I didn’t watch the Oscars. I never watch awards shows.

    Good Morning All

T & G, John Legend and Common performed the theme song from Selma and also gave the acceptance speech. They are both intelligent, well spoken and politically astute. Chissy Teigen, Legend’s wife and super model, seems like a gum chewing lightweight.

Lady Gaga did an outstanding job. Sometimes her outlandish customs overshadow her talent – she is a classically trained pianist and singer. And the surprise appearance of Julie Andrews to thank her was a high point of the evening.

We here have not seen any of the major films, and probably won’t watch Whiplash, Birdman and American Sniper. Selma we want to see and Boyhood. Yeah, we know if is nothing deep and meaningful but still enjoy it for the most part.

Could have done without Neil Patrick Harris taking off all his clothes. Otherwise he did an good job as the MC.

I’m worrit about putting this insulation away for Spring and/or Summer. I’m thinking about reversing the seasonal dress code foe certain places! (as Rio would say,) GRUMP!

Regarding West World: Come down here, Chet and Maggie, and anyone else. We can give you a real barn hunt, with real rats that are not in protective tubes. We Sibes are a disappointment to Mom and Pop in those hunts.

  21. Barb, Maggie and Lucy

Howlers, we didn’t quite get that – they want us to hunt the rats. Then when we find them, they are in protected cages, because no one wants to be mean to the charming little creatures. Whatsup with that! Remember that little test they reported where the nation within decides quickly who can be trusted? Think about it!

Our friend Bill the Drummer has a Kat that he refers to as a serial killer, street thug. Cedric keeps Bill’s old Victorian house totally vermin free cuz that’s the way he rolls.
To hear Bill tell it, if Cedric found a rat in one of those tubes, he would figure out a way to unscrew the top, and then just dump the rat into his mouth like a can of Pringles.

What? I missed someone taking off his clothes at the oscars? Thank dog!

I was up all night puking my guts out. Caught this from the man who lives in this house who had it 2 days ago. Ugh. It seems to be a 24 hour flu so I will be good tomorrow.

A ton of snow fell off our roof and took out most of the gutter system. Of course, the man wasn’t here so I had to run ouside and put a large garden bucket under the water coming off the roof. Carpola!

Dawson, I guess it was supposed to be a spoof of the scene in Birdman where Michael Keaton walks down the street in his tidy whities. NPH started the scene with his robe caught in the door and then proceeds to walk out on stage and do the whole bit that way.
He has a nice bod, and obviously does a lot of manscaping, but ugh! Oversharing.

Glad we didn’t watch those awards, B,M,&L.
We kill any critter that ventures onto our property, but we aren’t too successful in finding the rat devils that hide in the barn in winter. For one thing, the barn door is kept closed in this weather. For another thing, these rats built their own protective tubes arounf the barn. Mom keeps pointing to the holes, as if we could vaccuum them outa there.
Dawson!! Get thee to the quilt! Pronto.

Dawson, I hope you are feeling tip-top soon!

RIO! It is hard to explain. I wanted to like the movie, but it just left me cold. It was just a convoluted mess, a vanity piece for Michael Keaton, with an unresolved and confusing ending. Grizz and I were sorry we spent the $20 to see the film. “Whiplash” and “American Sniper” were both much better movies.

B,M,&L, we can’t even hazard a guess as to when this ground will unfreeze enough to plant anything. It doesn’t look like the lettuce or peas will be going in for St. Patrick’s Day.

Howlers, They say the spring is going to be late and cool due to the Great Lakes freezing over. We are still hoping that we can put onions, lettuce and spinach in around April 1st. Our raised beds do warm up faster.

Lady Gaga and Julie Andrews were the only thing worth watching in that show. I wasn’t watching very closely, mind you, if I missed the naked man!

I just got up to tell the man who lives in this house to empty the 2 buckets of water that have drained off the roof. The buckets hold about 7 gallons each and it took 5 hours to fill them. I hope the temperature goes down, down, down overnight.

One of the annual winter events in this area is the Meltdown Lottery Pool. A local lake tends to freeze almost solid; the town places a 60 pound block of cement with a flag on the middle point of the ice. They sell tickets for the closest guess as to when the block will sink through the ice.

    We are guessing July.

Dawson – hope you feel better before the 24 hours are up.

Mom just finished reading a young people’s book called “Ghost Hawk” by Susan Cooper. (She wrote a series called “The Dark is Rising”) It is very well written and researched. It is interesting and any one interested in history, the Puritans and Indians of the Massachusetts area during colonial times should read it. It is not a ‘children’s ‘ book.
