Good morning Howlers and everyone! Our mom can sing the Jubilation T Cornpone song. It is from Purlie (or Purlie Victorious) depending on movie or stage version. Have fun today Spence.
Let’s have a Spencer kind of Saturday.

Alas, I remember Jubilation T. all too well. Thanks Spence. I think my age is showing again. (For those of you in the dark, Jubilation T. was the founder of Dogpatch in L’ll Abner. And who could forget Sadie Hawkins Day?)

Purlie: 1963 by Ossie Davis. Starred Ossie Davie, Ruby Dee, Alan Alda. An hysterical spoof of the Jim Crow era race relations. Mom is comlputer stupid and cannot get the article to post to the blog šŸ™

Wookie’s and Teddy’s dad, you’re right I didn’t that go along with the Pogo comic strip? Perhaps that is what gave Ozzie Davis inspiration for his musical.

    Good morning everyone.
Spence, Have a fun signing day.

There is a statue of JTC in Li’l Abner and there is a song about him in the musical, which I think is from the late 50s or early 60s. I remember it well. But don’t ask me what I wore yesterday!

Barb, mom can tell you what color she wore yesterday but not the outfit. Have an agreement with a friend for certain colors on certain days. That way we always KNOW what day ot the week it is. HA. HA! More than one way to conquer old timers!

I, for one, remember Jubilation T. Cornpone from the Li’l Abner comics. (Li’l Abner disappeared rather abruptly from my local paper after Al Capp was involved in some sex scandals. I recall the strip as kind of mean-spirited and noweher near as good as Pogo.)

…and with all that out of the way, a good afternoon to everyone, sage travels to those traveling, and much brisk commerce to those involved in business today. Still recovering from school, but happy to report that EVERYONE PASSED!!!

Tupper’s Mama, Good news on your day! We had a rain storm come through but it was short. If you must get our weather, I wish it to be after the show.
Friends run a two week camp for grades 4 to 8. The kids perform a musical at the end of the two weeks. I always go to the performance. I have seen L’ll Abner three times!
I am reading S&S right now. Chet gets better and better!

But now that she knows what she is allergic to she can do things to prevent a lot of symptoms…snort!…It seems to me she found out about the Sycamore trees right before we packed up and moved over here. ….grunt!…I am far more concerned about the welfare of the big plant…snuffle!

Snippet!..The Pug is a creature that plays by his own rules. When you want him to sit, he stands; when you want him to stay, he goes; and when you want him to stop eating unidentified subbstancs off the floor, well…

Traditional schools of canine thought have put this behavior down to a stubbornness that is inherent in the breed. Not so. The Pug’s behavior in fact follows an ancient set of complex traditional rules. This book represents an attempt to explain these rules, thereby advancing pug-human relations to hitherto unprecedented heights.….snort!heh!heh!

Pug Etiquette – is that not an oxymoron? Surely that book would at least qualify as Fiction.

Mama checked in with us. They are tired and happy. Oh sure – they can abandon us to starve and have to sleep on a puffy easy chair, instead of our warm soft beds. They can go gallivanting all over creation and we poor Corgis can’t even go to Teddy’s Summer Camp.

It’s just not fair. Can we get some sympathy?

Walk!..Back from our walk and ready to rumble!…snort!…Just for Dawson, here is another snippet!..chuffle!

Introduction!…A ancient breed descended from the Chinese Lo-Chiang-Sze dog, the Pug is a proud, handsome, and fragrant creature. He is the lovable champion of the canine world. A snorting, wheezing, farting ambassador for small dogs; not much bigger than a Kat, ( Mr. Big and Abby The Kat not included!)yet exhibiting the sturdy rotundness of an unusually excitable warthog. Bred many centuries ago by the monks of Tibet, beloved pet of royals and aristocrats including Queen Victoria and Marie Antoinette, and muse to artists such as William Hogarth, the modern pug must strive to honor his legacy as a special, superior creature. …chuffle!

I can’t speak for any royals—it is possible that being and Outlaw I come from the wrong side of the castle walls—but I have never doubted my taste in pugs, evil or bible quoting. I do doubt the judgment of Rio’s Friend who wouldn’t let me keep an eye on her belongings when she went on a ride with the team.

Golinka: May your pockets be full, your van leave empty, and visiting famous authors be your favorite.

I need to go cheer for Ole Doc.

That Pug book is a hoot. Sounds like it tells it like it is, with just a slight lean toward “glossing over”. Imagine- an actual book that mentions odiferous emanations. Who woulda thought.

Off for day 2 of the show. If it is anything like day 1, there will be laughter and grinning all the way home. And if a certain OFA shows up , it will be the icing on a triple layer chocolate cake!
