Have a masterful Monday.

9:16 am on September 15th, 2014
Hip hip hooray! We are off to the BEACH!
Lobsters are trembling even as we speak.
Have a wonderful day all. Next time we talk, you will be able to hear the waves and seagulls in the background.
9:23 am on September 15th, 2014
Smooth sailing, A!
Good morning, everyone!
9:45 am on September 15th, 2014
T&G, right-e-o, I’m eating the old dry kibble. Daddy and my boy know that I want the roast beef and the ham that is in that refrigerator but no one is giving me any. Poor me.
9:55 am on September 15th, 2014
Good morning all. Cute picture of Teddy as a puppy is over on the right.
MaryLou, Have you talked to your girls about selling the house? They always say that you shouldn’t make major changes for a year. However, if you know home ownership is not your thing, maybe you should start thinking about a condo in your future. Nothing wrong with that.
11:07 am on September 15th, 2014
We sure hope Golinka and the storyteller enjoy the beach. Lobsters, beware!
11:27 am on September 15th, 2014
OOOO I want to hear waves and seagulls too. sniff.
I also want to win a copy of A Cat was Involved. When oh when will Spence come to North Dakota. grump.
11:40 am on September 15th, 2014
Good morning all–Royal ‘rents enjoy your trip to the seashore.
Princess Sam–The grace with which you bear such unspeakable torment is an example to us all. Thank you for your presence, which gives us all courage and hope.
Everyone–8:30-ish here in the OC with a predicted high of 102. I have cancelled today’s class and will be scholarly today.
Everyone–Have a wonderful day (also, nice photo of Macy–I don’t see Teddy unless maybe he’s in the Gallery?)
11:45 am on September 15th, 2014
Staff, Any pictures of your new quilt room yet?
So glad Amalia is out and about again. Hope they have good weather this week.
Barb is tuckered out today. Instead of going to bed at a decent hour, she made the mistake of turning on Ken Burn’s The Roosevelts. It was so good she stayed up till 11:00 to watch it.
11:49 am on September 15th, 2014
Wose–It’s for real? You’re going to be in a deli? That’s fantastic and wonderful! (As everyone else has already noted.)
I’m sure I’m not alone in congratulating you AND waiting eagerly for details (cheese! pickled things!) YAY!
Wolfie–I read about it this a.m. Are you going to be safe? Can you make it down to my parched area if you need to?
11:49 am on September 15th, 2014
Diane, the two pictures change every time you refresh. As the teenagers say “It’s so random”.
12:12 pm on September 15th, 2014
Our quote of the day:
“Turn your face to the sun, and the shadows fall behind you.”
12:52 pm on September 15th, 2014
Rose, One of my favorite Old Sewing Machine Guys has a youtube video up about the Singer Model 20 machine that you got for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFHqIllZR54&feature=em-subs_digest
I am taking the tiny thing to the TOGA to spiff it up and make it shine this coming weekend.
Barb, a picture is coming.
12:55 pm on September 15th, 2014
OOOOOoooooo A Cat Was Involved! Nana somehow Lost our pawprinted copy (although she claims it wasn’t her fault…a likely story) Sob, sob, sob.
O’Howlers: Love, Love, Love Your Quote of the Day!
Golinka and the Storyteller off to the Beach. HURRAY!
1:48 pm on September 15th, 2014
Wose, Congratulations on your new job!
The Royals are off to the beach! Have fun and eat some lobster for me. Mom would really like to hear some waves.
Wolfie, Thanks for another great wildfire picture.

I had to find out what “That’s so random” means. Here’s an interesting article.
http://www.npr.org/2012/11/30/166240531/thats-so-random-the-evolution-of-an-odd-word
2:30 pm on September 15th, 2014
HRH B Thanks for “de” randomizing the random comment..Mom remembers Bennett Cerf and lots of plays on words 🙂 Perhaps it explains her grasp of the English as we know it?
2:32 pm on September 15th, 2014
I think I’ll start saying “That’s so random.” I’ll see if people grex about it. Fun!
I remember the name Bennett Cerf but….who was he?
2:46 pm on September 15th, 2014
Dictionary.com includes this information about “random”:
“In 1980s U.S. college student slang it began to acquire a sense of ‘inferior, undesirable.'”
3:00 pm on September 15th, 2014
Bee – Bennett Cerf – founder of Random House – lover of puns, What’s My Line panelist.
HOH – if that’s your grasp of the English language, it’s a good one!
Thunder outside but I’m looking for sun.
3:01 pm on September 15th, 2014
Thank you Bluecat.
3:03 pm on September 15th, 2014
Since the ’80s were Long Past the time of Nana’s college days, the “Random” slang went right over her head. Heh. So what else is new?
3:04 pm on September 15th, 2014
wikipedia says Bennett was one of the founders of Random House publishing….heh
3:06 pm on September 15th, 2014
too late! By three minutes. grump. Refresh, them post. Rio’s words to live by.
3:18 pm on September 15th, 2014
Thank you anyway Staff.
3:39 pm on September 15th, 2014
Slang!…I would encourage Stover to try and say “That’s so random!” and “You are SOL” in the same sentence or at least to the same person in a conversation…snort!
3:46 pm on September 15th, 2014
Okay Rio, I’ll do it.
3:59 pm on September 15th, 2014
Report!…We will need a report on how this actually goes down…snort!heh!…I can’t wait.
4:05 pm on September 15th, 2014
Rio: Okay, I’ll report.
4:13 pm on September 15th, 2014
Printer!…Hey! Someone here just fixed our printer problems…snort!…Apparently you have to clean the print headers every now and again…sniff!…No manual cleaning was actually done. After a few simple commands the printer actually cleaned itself!…Wow!
4:51 pm on September 15th, 2014
For Staff (my Mom’s old Kenmore sewing machine from the 1940s/1950s). On the inside of the wood it says: Control #3 616. I had stored it outside in the garden shed which was a mistake as it really dried out the wood.

5:10 pm on September 15th, 2014
CHobbiti: Hopefully it can be fixed somehow.
Waiting for the lawn-care guys.
5:26 pm on September 15th, 2014
B and M–Thanks for the refreshing news; now I know what to do…
Hey everybody–103 here and we’re all cowering in the house.
Has anyone heard anything further from Wolfie?
5:30 pm on September 15th, 2014
Misuse of “random”–that is SO Montezuma…
5:57 pm on September 15th, 2014
Montezuma!…snort!
5:59 pm on September 15th, 2014
Meaning!….Beau and I sometimes get Montezuma’s Revenge. Especially after a successful begging go-round for sausage and pepperonei pizza…grunt!…Is this the So Montezuma you are referring to?…sniff!sniff!
6:03 pm on September 15th, 2014
Nobody cares about me (except Diane). Sniff.
6:27 pm on September 15th, 2014
Sammie!…I care about you, but I cannot relate to you. You being on that starvation diet and all…sniff!…I don’t have any encouraging words for youse…gurgle!
6:55 pm on September 15th, 2014
Sammie – we care. We are the ones who asked about you first, yesterday.
We are feeling you dry kibble pain.
7:02 pm on September 15th, 2014
Princess Sam: I’m proud of you for sticking to your diet. You will make a wonderful Princess in the movie for THAT.
7:14 pm on September 15th, 2014
Mom and Dad used to have humorous Bennett Cerf books around the house. I did not know he started Random House.
Princess Sam: I meant to reply earlier to your sad plight but I was busy eating a big ham and cheese sandwich. Burp! Sorry!
7:27 pm on September 15th, 2014
Waah!
7:43 pm on September 15th, 2014
Rio’s comment was so funny. We were the same thing about saying that’s so random and you are SOL. And actually, teenagers are using that phrase right now.
8:03 pm on September 15th, 2014
We meant to say we were thinking the same thing. I don’t remember teenagers saying random in the 80s, but have noticed them using it now. And most of the time it doesn’t seem appropriately used.
8:10 pm on September 15th, 2014
B&M, as are many of the phrases used by teens.
8:12 pm on September 15th, 2014
DianeC. Hoping that y’all cool off a bit soon. Remember the misery of the last blast of summer heat but usually it would wait until mid-October, then plummet for Halloween.
9:07 pm on September 15th, 2014
Your Royal Highness, Princess Sam, I worry about you all the time. I have even hidden sweet potato/fish cookies and yummy chummies in the sandbox, so you can come here and dig them up.
9:13 pm on September 15th, 2014
Sammie!…One word. Escape!…snort!
9:14 pm on September 15th, 2014
Sammie!…Second word!…Now!
9:37 pm on September 15th, 2014
Watching The Roosevelts again. Thanks, Howlers, for letting us know it was on last night.
Saying good night.
9:44 pm on September 15th, 2014
Stuff to do. I don’t think our Wose has been on today but I want to tell her that I and Sadie will be with her in spirit as she negotiates her first day on the job. Our Wose: Upright, Alert & Professional.
Sammie: how much weight are you expected to lose or are you in the maintenance stage (the hardest stage since it lasts a lifetime).
9:51 pm on September 15th, 2014
CHobbit, they tell me I have more weight to lose. May be another pound or so. The heart murmur is of course a problem.
10:17 pm on September 15th, 2014
Pound!…Hell, I eat that in bacon everyday…snort!…My dream. My big dream…snuffle!
10:18 pm on September 15th, 2014
Rose!…She will be Upright-Rose, and very Professional in her little hat tomorrow. I just know it!…chuffle!
10:20 pm on September 15th, 2014
Night!…Early night for us guys tonight…sniff!…But I still have a few minutest to piss someone off or not…heh!heh!
10:38 pm on September 15th, 2014
Goodnight!…For good from here…snort!…We are heading up to our beds. Mine is a warm soft bed with all the baseball toys in all the right places…heh!snuffle!…Who else can really say that?..snort!
10:46 pm on September 15th, 2014
Good night to all. We are home alone( except for Gramp, Callie and the unspeakably Wrotten Kats)
We are abandoned and lonely. Guess we will have to go sleep in Gramp’s easy chair. Or maybe on his couch. Anyway, someplace soft and warm.
It’s a tough life.
11:20 pm on September 15th, 2014
Fire is under control. It was arson…20 homes lost. Unbelievable. Here is an amazing photo. I don’t know if the comet was photo shopped or not, but it is still awe inspiring….in good ways and bad.

11:23 pm on September 15th, 2014
Last photo, I promise.

11:38 pm on September 15th, 2014
Poor little Royals!
12:03 am on September 16th, 2014
Wow Wolfie. Amazing photo’s. Thanks for posting them. It is hard to believe that something so destructive is so beautiful.
Poor Sammy, Poor Royals. Lucky Golinka and Storyteller. Lucky me also. On Wednesday I get to go to a gathering of Sewing Machine Collectors. I bet there will not be a sewing machine as interesting as the ‘Kenny’ that C.Hobbit has.
Two words C.Hobbit. Lemon Oil
Night all.
1:36 am on September 16th, 2014
Staff: I enjoyed the link on the little sewing machine Wose sent you.
8:36 pm on September 20th, 2014
