Barb is off to the car dealer for some sort of recall on her Ford Escape. Something to do with faulty power steering, but luckily she has not had a problem so far.

Hello Everyone–Conan here, I got to this keyboard out of sheer desperation. I was taken to the bad place yesterday, forced to stand on the scale despite my best efforts to foil their plans–then darkness. Now I’m back at home with NO HAIR and a horrible cone of shame that keeps getting stuck on things when I try to go through doors or climb into bed.
Edgar and Ms. Pretty are looking at me like they don’t know me. Edgar especially doesn’t seem to like the cone (Haha! He should try living inside one!)
My lady (and I’m wondering if I can ever trust her again) says I have arthritis in my knees and had to have a cyst on my jaw removed but that I’m doing very very well. I don’t feel very very well though. AND she’s late getting my breakfast (it’s also hard to eat with the cone.) Can someone rescue me?

Hello All–It’s been a weird and expensive week, and I still have meds to pick up–for both Ms. Pretty and Conan (I see he’s learned to access the blog).
Wose–I sympathize, and since I’m down about a thousand dollars (OK I’m rounding) this week, perhaps you’d like to come in with me on a super-sized dogloo instead of conventional housing.
I did have the foresight to lay in a supply of champagne and oatmeal cookies with which to toast and celebrate our Purple friend’s life. Not sure how to transport–everyone here is sulking.

We just returned from getting wonderfluffed. It is a wonder we and our fluff are still alive. We even had to be subjected to nails being clipped!!! Conan, we understand how you feel. We will never trust our mom again either.
At least we are not in cones. Those are the worst. Hope you get yours off soon, Conan.

It’s here!!! It’s here!!! Mommy and I got our cooking apron! It is even more fabulous than it looked on the auction page!!! I am so very glad I bid and won. And…that Lurker included a massive number of recipes for treats for me me me! Mommy and I will be making those together. Thanks, LL!

And….I got the nightlight I bid on. I am now hoping every day there will be new packages in the mail for me me me! Momma says that will not happen.
It is amazing how this nightlight is even cooler in person. It is 3-D. Only thing is that it looks just like Teddy and so I feel bad. I feel that I should indeed be sending this to my pal Teddy.

Back from the car dealer and errands.
We got these wonderful disposable clean up pads as a free sample at the vets awhile back. They are by Bissel and are called Stomp and Go. The vet says the come in boxes of 20 and are $50.00. That is $2.50 per “accident clean up” which seems expensive. Has anyone else used them or do you know of a source? They work well and are super convenient, but we are not spending 50 bucks!

Question: What is the worst thing that could happen if I took the cone of shame off Mr. C. early? Stitches are on the outside of his jaw near his mouth, and while he could theoretically scratch there, I’ve never seen him do so. He’s not big on scratching.

BSD: when my father died, my sister and I inherited his shares in a computer store (which he founded in the 1980s), an office building and 4 apartments. My sister (the CPA) does the accounting, I do the painting and cleanup, my nephew manages the computer store and the properties and my niece documents everything. One of the office suites was empty this month for refurbishing and a new client just rented it. In the next two months there will be vacancies at the apartments so I expect to do a lot of painting. Since I no longer paint 8-10 hours a day, it drags out.

Diane, I don’t think any of us are qualified to answer your question about the cone. My mom would call the vet with that question.
The big box pet stores have “soft” cones for sale. Mom doesn’t know anymore about them except to say they exist, and are suppose to be much easier for the dog to deal with.

Diane, Hubbard is a winter squash, has a hard shell and keeps much longer than summer squash. Good thing, huh?
I will check Fosters. I have bought GLC 1000 thru Amazon and they have it for a good price. It is around $43.00 but the girls get only 1/4 tsp a day so it really lasts. Anything over $35 is free shipping too. I have been buying the Premium Edge salmon and potato dog food thru Amazon too, as I can’t find it around here.

Greetings from the wilds of Rhode Island. Our tent is up and waterproof. Our tables are in place with table covers. The rest of the physical plant is done. Now we just have to be back on the show grounds at the crack of dawn to set up the jewelry.
This is one of our really big shews and we are looking forward to it. The Storyteller’s favorite part of the show is the ice cream stand across the street where they sell Frozen Pudding ice cream.
Conan – we feel for you, buddy, we really do. As long as you have that cone, maybe you can get your mom to fill it with ice cream.

Barb-frozen pudding is an extra rich, nutmeg/rum flavored ice cream with raisins and sometimes other dried fruit in it.

Last one or first the next morning–The whole frozen custard/pudding thing sounds fabulous (and I’m guessing not Low Fat Foods–did you see what I did there, BSD?). Does one need an ice-cream maker to do that rum/nutmeg thing (which sounds fabulous)?
Luna–No need to apologize, I think Conan licked the sparkles off during one of his many naps. I put Pretty’s Dance-Hall Girl hair ornament (which she gets from the groomer) on her so she wouldn’t be jealous. Edgar remains somewhat aloof but I’m trying to make it up to him.
Belle Starr–thank you.
Dawson–Travel safely and stay hydrated (harder than you’d think while airborne for long stretches). So many people of this blog seem to travel so much (or am I just conflating many people’s journeys?).
