Good morning, everyone and welcome Buckeye Hobbs. Nice toy and buckeye collection. Know today will be good (if wet) since Siber H’s foto is along side this a.m. Hope the Master gets to see Golinka and the Storyteller and maybe even Rio.

Dreary and rainy but marvelously cool. We’ve been standing out in the cool and when we come in mom plays “Super-puppy” with us and a towel. We love the attention but don’t understand the point of the game.

So wet here mom has been lamenting the paw prints WE have been bringing in. G-son, who is a s-son’s son, Looked at the wet streak and said, “If you think that isn’t a river, you are in de Nile.” We think there is a lot to this environment thing and he really is hers. After all, didn’t mom’s wolf dog try to steal him when he was a pup, er, infant?

BSD, when the first g-son came to visit when he was about 2 or 3 months old, mom’s wolf dog was still with her. S-son and his wife wanted to put the baby on a blanket on the floor. Mom disagreed, loudly, and said to put the tyke in the papasan chair since it was a bowl shape and Alex Rock couldn’t roll over yet. The next thing people saw was wolf dragging baby and blanket toward the dog door. Mom grabbed a hot dog and chased them down shouting, “Trade, trade!” (the way she got things from the naughty wolf). Fortunately it worked and Rock was restored to his 2 legged family. D i l learned to listen to mom about the animals and Rock has a fun story to tell. Not quite as goo as Tail of Vengeance, but good for a chuckle.

Had fun shopping at sidewalk days in Crystal Lake (town in which Barb works). Bought two candles for $1.00 each that were originally $15.00, and a picture frame and soap w/soap dish for $5.00 each, original price $22 and $25. Let’s hope A & L’s buyers aren’t so cheap!

Now have to do a little mowing.

Barb&Maggie: I’m finding out that de-cluttering is hard work. I had # 2 rummage sale today and got rid of another ton of stuff. This time I only had 4 boxes of stuff left over and a young woman came and took it away! The whole house is in an uproar from back to back garage sales but I have space! Even some empty drawer and cupboard space. Enthusiastic buyers were happy and I was too. Only downside is multiple no-see-um bites on my neck. Gah!

Beau: You are doing a great job filling Rio’s paws but don’t forget your own duties, like kat patrol!

HOH, the cuddle blankie went out today and the vanilla for bluecat and the chicken watering system for Nana will go out Monday. I have the correct boxes now.

I weeded a little in the garden today. It is supposed to be in the 90’s the next couple of days so I also picked beans (they are already in the freezer) and pulled the last of the bolted spinach. grump. I have learned my spinach lesson. One row planted every two weeks and then maybe I will have some all summer. Not three rows at the same time.

This morning Mr.Staff told me I had some squash on the summer squash. Boy did I ever. They were the size of a large butternut squash, not a little yellow crookneck summer squash. I picked them. sigh. Couldn’t see any others but you know THEY ARE THERE. Hiding. snort.

Dawson, Have fun in Vancouver. I know you will.

O’Howlers. You have to keep on those beans. Pick every 2-3 days at least. I love them fresh but not every day so into the freezer they go. This year I am blanching them and then freezing them on a metal tray. After they are frozen I put them in a plastic bag for easy use later. That way I don’t have to use all the beans at once, which was what I had to do last year.

the reason I had so many seeds to share this year was I didn’t keep up with them last year. grump.

I love summer and all the fresh veggies. Tonight had beets and beans from the garden. We really get spoiled don’t we? Personally I don’t like the zucchini or summer squash when it gets big. I prefer it about cucumber size, when the skin is still soft. They grow so fast that if you miss one for 2-3 days it becomes a monster.

BTW, got a notice by email from David Rosenfelt today. He has a new Andy Carpenter book out this week, titled Hounded. I am sure it will be good.

Dawson: Ah the Joys of DeCluttering! We know the process well. In order to De-clutter one must First Create More Clutter. Empty rooms, drawers and closets…then sort, toss, recycle. We are tired just thinking about it.
