Jasper, thanks for the pics. Such good news about Sissy and our thoughts and prayers are with you regarding the BIL.
Kind of overcast here today, and a lot cooler. The next week looks really nice, which is very important, since the bi-annual quilt show put on by mom’s quilt guild is next Friday and Saturday, with Thursday for set-up (I think dad has been drafted for that too). Two years of supervising quilt ladies about to pay off.
And Natasha, why would one possibly want to get rid of the smell of chicken wings or pug. Those are some of the best smells in the world — take it from an expert smeller.

BIL passed away this morning. Thank you for your prayers, thoughts and the comfort of the quilt. While sad for the family left behind, we find peace in the fact that he is not in pain any more. Thank you friends.

My guys have been busy. One tree down (story behind that one), one tree trimmed, one pumpkin harvested, one mum planted, leaves out of pool, moss gathered for terrariums, and loose bricks off of the top of an unused chimney. That was all in three hours.
Next Zoë’s cake and presents. We are then going to have a campfire on the rock ledge in the middle of the river.

Someone gave us the idea for grilled cheese sandwiches this morning. We can’t remember where we read that, but we then thought of the homemade tomato soup frozen this summer. And voila! A great lunch/supper! Oh and we made a loaf of bread just for those sandwiches. Melanie or MollysMom, when we make our whole wheat bread, we add wheat gluten to it. How would you do it differently on your gluten-free diet? Just curious.

Hi, guys!
Jasper, What a happy time and what a sad time! Our thoughts are with your family at this time.
This week has been a blessing for Mom and Dad. Dad got out of the 1st hospital on Monday and on Tuesday he had his first appt down at the world reknown medical center. We really like the doctors we have seen so far…an oncologist and a neurosurgeon. Dad’s first tests are scheduled for tomorrow so Mom and Dad had a week to “re-group”. Amazing how much getting your head on straight helps. We are hopeful that this is just a strange infection and not a tumor, but will face either with hope for full recovery.
Mom just caught up on the weeks postings last night (and she did watch the beginning of Elementary so she could see YSAS. She plans to watch the entire episode later. We feel like we know him and are so proud when we recognize him.) She has been trying to keep her work schedule going so often doesn’t get to read the blog until late. Melanie, we see why you and Zoe are so exhausted. Maggie, Mom is finally getting to read Dewey. She took it to the hospital and is about 1/2 way through it.
Our hearts are so full of gratitude for the wonderful friendship we have here and we want to thank each of you for keeping us in your prayers.
Congrats to Lilly and Josh! May you have many happy years together.

Food!….My friend just made her kick-@ss meatloaf and put it in the oven to bake…snort!…This time she used jalenpenos because the canned green chilis do not have enough kick-@ss in them I guess…heh!…She says she now have enough food made for a while, so that she does not have to eat her mothers cooking…wheeze!…. She has froze spaghetti sauce, her bean chili and the Case Noodle will be frozen in small containers….sniff!…Then this big ole meatloaf…slurp!…I’m starvin marvin here and she is putting everything into the freezer..grump!

This was our Oktoberfest here in Ellicottville. Tens of thousands descended upon us. It was awful.

Some changes have happened since I’ve been gluten-free. My body temp went from 97 to 98 degrees. I thought the digital thermometers were not correct when I had my cataract surgery. I have since checked it myself and it’s true. Also when I had my last blood test, my thyroid numbers were different.

Rio and Wose: There is no need to worry about me. AJ is home and has been taking good care of me along with two of five Smoochers. I’ve seen Macy’s mom under the quilt. We’ve eaten cheesecake and raised our plastic glasses filled with night-time cold medicine a time or two—it was the ‘or two’ that really packs a wallop.

Tip!….Here is a free tip…heh!…Whenever my friend feels like she is catching something, she sucks down an evervesant Airborn tablet in water (like alkaseltzer)…snort!…A good friend of hers is a school teacher and told her about this amazing thing. It knocks colds on their butts, but you have to take it when you are “starting” to feel sick….wheeze!…Although, it will shorten the length of the cold if you cannot get it down right away…chuffle!…My friend swears by it now.

Rio: I can’t imagine you and Beau being on anything less than a sled dog diet. For the amount of calories burned each day of the race —read thousands—we try to replenish the calories and then some. An athlete such of yourself needs to be a similar diet.
