Good morning!!!! We are in shock at all of the Plunderers who are going North to Alaska!!!! Send us info, p,ease please please. Now youse got Mom thinking once again.

Mom can only eat soft foods. Her breakfast consisted of plain yogurt: no fruit, and definitely No Weiner.

We like weiners…delish. Mom’s a vegetarian. Oh, you meant the guy…GAH!

Good morning everyone! Mom would still rather go north in March, Daddy Dawg says Caribbean.

Have a thumping good Thursday 🙂

I’m glad my guys are not an Anthony Weiner
That I’d truly hate for them to be

They’d be out of favor now with me.

    Interesting times.

Tom, our go guy of the moment, is now cutting them up for firewood.

Passports are mailed! Everyone is getting one. Remember to open them gently and send the stamped envelope back to me for my collection if at all possible. Thanks Plunderers.

I’m off for a long bike ride as the storms are moving in tonight. Then a brief stop at the dentist (I forgot my appointment yesterday). Have to go before all the bureaucrats, nurses, OT’s, low vision experts and health care schedulers start calling. Gah!

Funny how one item can have so many names, and each one of them has a second connotation that is so different.
-Hot dog – both food, and an expression of approval, or top rank
-Frank – both a food, and a description of a serious, honest person
    -Wiener – both a food and a loser. Hmmm….

(For the purposes of this here blog, we are refraining from mentioning other meanings of that last term. We ARE ladies, after all)

  17. Barb & Maggie

Right on T & G. Although we could lump the loser and the other meanings into one and the same.

I’m not going to Alaska with a friend. That was planned earlier when I didn’t know others were going.

About Anthony Weiner: it reminds me of a Far Side cartoon. Two female wart hogs were sitting at a bar. A male wart hog comes in the door. One of the females says to the other, “He thinks he’s God’s gift to warthogs.”

Out of respect for Rio’s feelings, we won’t mention the dude’s name, but we don’t know how any woman can find him attractive.

We can’t imagine New Yorkers will vote for this guy. How can you have a political leader who is so open for blackmail, ridicule and derision? Can you just see him in a serious meeting with, say a labor union leader, and the union leader says, “yeah, but I saw your Weiner”. Pretty much end of discussion.

Macy – Mama has been on hypo stuff for years too. Her weight was climbing, climbing, climbing even though she exercised a lot and really watched her diet. Plus all her hair was falling out. From everywhere. And she was cold all the time. Even in summer.

Old doc refused to believe her. Said she was just lazy.

So, after pasting him to a wall, she found a new doc who immediately diagnosed thyroid. It fixed everything. Well – she is still fluffy, but she can blame pizza and ice cream now.

We here at the kennel didn’t sleep well last night. It may have been the heat, or the excitement of all those planning a trip norht to Alaska, or maybe both. There is a lot of chatter about next March in the kennel. Dibs have been called to be ambassadors and escorts for our visitors.

MPM: We’re glad you’re coming north to Alaska. We had our sled dog hearts set on it. We can’t wait to see your hair. My Lady says it is beautiful.

Golinka: With all the Plunderers planning to travel north to Alaska, my Lady says we need to borrow a phrase you borrowed: We’re going to need a bigger boat.

Macy: My tummy stayed nice and cool last night. Thank you for asking.

Yeep! Thank youse all—including the Anonymous Donor— for funding the Have Harness, Will Travel campaign. I’ll have a huffle and gruffle with Doc and Charlie about not eating harnesses. There’s no telling whether or not they’ll listen.

    I’m with the Royals . .

    A feature I love on my iPaw . .

When I am reading, and don’t know the meaning of a word, or don’t know what the Heritage breed of chicken looks like, or why something is spelt the way it is, I can highlight the word or phrase, and the google it.

    This is awesome!

Today I looked up milquetoast. I always thought it was milk toast. It is and it isn’t.
I have heard of the phrase “Bland as milk toast.” At least that’s what I thought it was saying. So I looked up “milquetoast”. That is from a cartoon character that had a bland personality. Cool. Casper Milquetoast was named from milk toast.

I looked up milk toast and it is all over the world. Different cultures use different spices. Some of them sounded pretty good.

All this knowledge from highlighting one word on my iPaw.

That is cool, sayeth the Geek.

WooHoo, MPM! Glad that you are still planning to go North for the race! Definitely going to be a big time. Will have my passport primed and ready.

Staff, thanks for the link. Mom had just looked at the flights earlier but has to get with Dad on flight stuff. Think it will be on Tuesday instead of Wednesday since the flights tend to get there late and they would lose out on all of the Wednesday activities by waiting until then to go.

Years ago, Mom got hot and stayed that way. Not just warm but her skin was hot, hot, hot! AND she was losing a pound a day (didn’t mind that at all). She was Hyperthyroid then. Dr said that medicine may cause weight gain. Boy was she right! Now Mom wishes for just a week or two (maybe a month would be best) of the hyper stuff just to get back in shape.

I was diagnosed with Thyroid disease in 1991. I have been on the same dose of meds since then .75 micrograms of Levothyroxine. It is a nice cheap medicine because it was discovered in the 1920’s and has been off patent for many many years.

I never can remember if I am hypo or hyper but for some reason I can remember that it is called Hashimoto’s…
    pause for googling…
    Hypothryroid disease. Under active thyroid.
It runs in families usually in the women. Maggie and her two sisters had it. My brother Chris had it and so do I. I believe the Catty Librarian is diagnosed with a very mild form of it and doesn’t have to take meds for it.

Wow we are going to be a big group in AK! I can’t wait to get my passport. I am thinking about star stickers for my stamp. But maybe I can get a star stamp.

Wose: Below is my letter to Grizz. Please see that he gets it and gives in to my demand, er, my request.

    Dear Professor Grizz,

How do I put this? Oh, I know—Please! Pretty please let Wose come to live with me, me, me in March. My Four-legged and I will take good care of her. I will sit on her lap and let her give me tummies so she doesn’t get cold. I won’t let Pancho or Lefty steal anything from her. Wait, nevermind that last one. My Two-legged says nothing is a guarantee when those two are involved.

Where was I? Oh, yes, I will make sure she doesn’t have to eat moose head stew. The Giant will be around so she will be safe and if she leaves her Swedish fish on a high shelf, he can get them for her. Plus, there will be a pack of Plunderers visiting, and damnit, she needs stamps in her passport. Uh, I just got the look from my Four-legged. Please strike my curse word in this letter unless, of course, it adds to you making the decision to say yes! yes! yes!

Are you still hesitant? You drive a hard bargain, my friend, a hard bargain indeed. I didn’t want it to come to this, but you leave me no choice: Please! Pretty please with Mick’s apple pie and sparkles on top.

    ‘lergically yours,
    Belle Starr

Howlers: There is a certain Plunderer that has a certain gift for finding good deals on travel. In fact, this Plunderer made it possible with wheeling and dealing for my Two-Legged to meet youse last year.

Rose!…Don’t count on Bellies letter to work…sniff!

Outside!…Whew!…We’ve been outside watching someone watering the garden. She shook her head a lot over those derned tomaters…sniff!….Lots and lots of little green ones but nothing is getting bigger or red…grunt!….The peppers are doing fine. I think peppers and flowers are all she can grow properly..sniff!

Not work? How could my letter not work? It was heartfelt, made great arguements grounded in fact and sparkles, and only used one well-placed curse word. Not work, indeed. Hmph.

Bellie!…I am talking from past experience when your letter did not work for my friend…sniff!…I don’t want Rose to get her hopes up and then have them dashed against the rocks like hard little green tomaters…snort!

Rio: My Two-legged wrote the letter for your friend. I’m not surprised it didn’t work. She isn’t as persuasive and adorable as I am. I still love her anyway.

Sam: No, MPM won’t be forced to eat anything she doesn’t want to eat. Last year, after the mushers banquet, the Giant, my Two-legged, Wose and Grizz piled into the car. Once they buckled up, the first thing Grizz said was, “That was beef we just ate, wasn’t it?”

Sob…..she’s leaving us again! All alone with no one ( except Gramp) to feed us and love us. And we will have to sleep in the big, soft easy chairs. sob. All because she is doing a show in Rodeisland or some such. All we know is that we are poor, abandoned, deprived Corgis. Someone call the SPCA.
    sob…..
And now we have to go to bed- just so SHE can get up early and desert us.
Life is so unfair. We may just have to go bite a Kat.

Wow this is a very big group of under achieving thyroids. I don’t suppose it has anything to do with the demographics? (read a-g-e) no, that can’t be it. Mom was really bummed that she could not take part in the magnet study, but it will be over by the time she will be considered stable on the meds. On a brighter note, a new person has taken over the state program that has been trying to get her a job for over two years. Now they have a scheme where they will pay some place to let her work for 6-8 weeks to get some more current experience on her resume. We will see…
