Good morning, everyone! Without all those people, men and women, where would we be?
Have a very pleasant holiday and try to stay toasty.

    Well said Admin.

    Good morning all.

Thank you Spence and Admin for honoring our Veterans. We appreciate the sacrifices made by all who have served.

Wonder how Amalia did at the dinner last night. We hope she overcame her discomfort and had a nice evening.

And yes, Rio, Barb did watch a movie partially about baseball and enjoyed it. She was more interested in the human aspects of the story and the personality development of Jackie, his wife Rachel and Branch Rickey.

Mom thinks she has discovered the secret of last night/the am’s “barkfest”. Lucy was out talking to the deer and early this morn, I the adorable Darah was snuck up on by the dreaded killer falling leaves. Boy, oh, boy, are those ever scary! I had to protect mom so they didn’t get her in her sleep. Pookey? She just lays by her Daddy Dawg.

We may get a little snow later this morning. First snows are always exciting.

Barb is looking forward to the Saturday morning meeting. She will bring along a little extra cash for the two antlerz she ordered for me, me, me.

We are excited to read the full report, with pictures, of this weekend’s Plunderer meeting.
T&G, tell your mom that our mom got to wear her “wedding” dress again this weekend, to the retirement dinner. She got lots of compliments on it. Mom says THANKS, once again, for the shopping help.

    What is on our mind?
Our Veterans. May Congress pass them a living wage so they do not have to use food stamps as a way to thank them for their service.

That as from our facebookie page. We are still recovering our energy from the last few weeks.

We will be doing shallots and wine reduction sauce tonight.

That might be all that we do . .

  15. Barb & Maggie
    11:53 am on November 11th, 2013

Melanie, If you want to grow some, you should be able to keep them in the fridge till early spring and then plant them as you would onion sets. Pointy side up, just below the soil surface. If your shallots are still in a clump, you separate them before planting. Each one will product a clump by fall.

  16. Melanie
    12:18 pm on November 11th, 2013

Hmmm . . Save some? We have four shallots. I think we’ll just cook them.

Have order our natural, free range, local turkey. Getting a 12 lb-er.

ZoĆ« knew I was ordering it over the phone. I was talking to the butcher when ZoĆ« came in, and I said, “and that is NOT alive and the feathers off.” snicker
Got two people with a bad joke. Zoƫ was cussing up a storm, and the butcher was sputtering.

Heh, heh, heh. I explained to the butcher I was just bothering my mother.
Unfortunately, she is planning a payback.

Shallots in wine sauce, HOH mom is on her way! Daddy Dawg & mom will be in Hillsville, VA in the doghouse for Turkey Day. Mom has planned a “portable”, traditional dinner. Correct foods in slightly modified shape/size to be cooked in a 5th wheel trailer:) Never a dull moment. Doing a NO SNOW dance.

Melanie, We were picturing you with a big bag of shallots, not 4! Forget saving to plant, just enjoy.

We are having a beautiful snow here. Big flakes and lots of them. No wind, so if is very pretty and peaceful looking. Grass is partially white, but it is not sticking on street or sidewalk.

Time for some reading and a nap. Perfect afternoon.

One of our neighbors has acquired one chicken and a chicken coop. Mom got a call to go over and see it. I was not invited.
Mom says the coop would not stop a determined Siber but she doesn’t know about coyotes. They are not as big as us Sibers.
It is a big freakin chicken.

Today’s GOOGLE DOODLE is a tribute to Veteran’s Day.

Belle Starr, Luna, Pancho , Lefty?

I have been waiting here on the side of the road with my red bandana full of my most worldly possessions tied to the end of a stick, waiting for one of youse to blur me back to the kennel. Since I no longer have a job, I am volunteering my services as a Snowhook official handler. I will play with youse guys, feed youse, and scoop your poop, in return for residence in the little cabin in the woods.

  24. Barb & Maggie
    3:13 pm on November 11th, 2013

Siber, Tell your neighbor (or have your mom tell her) that chickens are flock animals. One chicken alone is a very unhappy chicken. If the coop is not too small, maybe she can find a place to buy or adopt one more.

We woke up to a foot of fresh snow. Unfortunately, it is a very wet snow so the roads are a sheet of ice. Even though she was supposed to have today off, she had to drive in for a meeting with a client. She slipped and slid the whole way into town. Her meeting is over and she is girding up the strength to make the drive home.

Thank you to all the veterans!! We all owe you so much.

Mom was watching a show on buying property in Alaska the other night. They said that about 1/2 the homes in Fairbanks are “dry” cabins. No running water or plumbing. OMD!!! Don’t think Mom would care for that too much. Wose, I kinda think that the little cabin it the woods may be like that.

Oh, and one of the locations that was shown was in North Pole. It wasn’t as nice as C.Hobbitt’s house!

MollyPop’s Mom: I am a very happy person at the moment!

SnowBella: I had to drive today to get a better snow shovel and to pick up my sister at the airport. The roads have been terrible most of the weekend and I don’t look for them to improve any time soon. Plows can scrape off the snow but not the thick layer of ice. People seem to be driving carefully at least.

It seems like everyone in the neighborhood has a snow blower but me. However, I like shoveling snow and feel that it is good exercise. The deck, driveway, sidewalks and dog yard equal my North Pole driveway so it is manageable until I run out of places to put it. I was told NOT to put it in the street.

I cancelled Sadie’s trip to doggie day care as there is a hill that I am not brave enough to tackle the first day of winter!
