Unveiling
“An actual copy of The Dog Who Knew Too Much is on the loose?” says Admin.
“Maybe not on the loose,” Spence says. “But here’s a photo of it. A very interesting photo, in my opinion.”

Ooooooh! Ahhhhhhh!
9:08 am on August 10th, 2011
Hey there, Dawson:
The ARC has a different cover photo, right?
I really love the cover for TDWKTM! I love that we get to see Chet. Maybe the next book will show Chet full-frontal.
Brodie: I was once a mom to a great Kat, named Kelly. While I love doggies, I’m very partial to kitties.
Greetings to All!
9:09 am on August 10th, 2011
The cover is starting to grow on me.
Well, not really. I am just trying to be polite.
9:10 am on August 10th, 2011
But you know what they say; it is best not to judge a book by it’s cover.
(Sorry. I simply could not resist. Mom made me do it.)
9:10 am on August 10th, 2011
Brodie:
Something I forgot….I hope someday your handsome face will be the FOM, so we get some kat representation (and annoy Rio even more!).
9:13 am on August 10th, 2011
Ha ha Wolfie – I’m with you on that. I’ll be so happy to be reading it on my Kindle. I just don’t see Chet as that dog on the cover and I don’t want to keep seeing THAT DOG!
9:18 am on August 10th, 2011
Why is the photo “interesting”? Whoever the woman is, she should not be on the cover. (Authors have no control over covers. Personally, I think publishers have a lot to answer for.)
Good morning all.
9:32 am on August 10th, 2011
B., I think you’re right – the publisher probably thought this was a nice doggy cover that would appeal to a lot of people. However, it seems the cover people haven’t read the Chet books so they had no clue as to how Chet should look.
9:35 am on August 10th, 2011
Cover!…Wasn’t this already posted on facebookie already?….snort!…I thought I saw it on the right side over there at some point…grunt!
9:36 am on August 10th, 2011
Artist!…What happened to his regular artist?…snort!…Anna Dorfman, she did all the previous covers (except one). Why couldn’t they get her perspective again?…grunt!
9:39 am on August 10th, 2011
The Erie County Fair opens today with 2 new food offerings. There’s the beer-battered burger and – get this – the doughnut burger. That one’s a burger with a glazed doughnut sliced in half for a bun. They say it’s about 4,000 calories.

Philip Levine is going to be the new poet laureate. Here’s a link to the NYTimes article.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/10/books/philip-levine-is-to-be-us-poet-laureate.html?ref=arts
9:50 am on August 10th, 2011
Poet!… I think he will be an awesome poet laureate..sniff!… I especially like that last bit of his poem about silence they put in the article. I think all day I will try and be as silent as possible….grunt! wheeze!
10:00 am on August 10th, 2011
We have decided that having a dog on the cover that doesn’t look like Chet won’t change our mental picture of Chet while reading the book. Chet will still look like he has always looked to us.
Fred Imus was a dog lover. His last two dogs were German Shepherd Dogs.
10:02 am on August 10th, 2011
Had a bad night slept late. But waking up with a smile here!
Rose: Your comment of 9:08 means something completely different when I look for work for YSAS!

Mr. Tibbs!…Don’t click on the link – copy it and past in the address line of your browser….snort!…That worked for me.
10:26 am on August 10th, 2011
I’m killing time here while mom packs up my water and stuff to make the trip to meet T&G’s mom. My eye makeup is applied and perfect, if I do say so myself.
Fred Imus also had a Siber named Fred.
10:28 am on August 10th, 2011
Sorry Tyb. Did copying the address work?
I like Levine’s definition of an “ideal poem”: “No words are noticed….You look through them into a vision of…the people, the place.” I also love the title of one of his poems: “He Would Never Use One Word Where None Would Do.”
10:47 am on August 10th, 2011
Fred!…Fred named a Siber after himself?…heh!..That would get a bit confusing, wouldn’t it?…snort!…I’m glad I don’t have the same name as my friend. She has one of those names that both a guy or gal could be called…sniff!…That’s not for me.
10:51 am on August 10th, 2011
SiberH!…What time are you meeting up with Stinky Mama anyways?…snort!
10:52 am on August 10th, 2011
Melanie: LOL! Of course, I didn’t mean it THAT way!!
Siber-H: I’m very excited to hear that you are meeting T&G’s mom. Pcitures, pretty please!!!!
10:56 am on August 10th, 2011
Rio, We are meeting at 10ish which means we have to leave in a few minutes.
BBL
I’m so glad I get to go!
10:57 am on August 10th, 2011
We know what Princess looks like don’t we Sam…
11:04 am on August 10th, 2011
SILENT – LISTEN. Made up of the same 6 letters. There must be a lesson there somewhere…
I still don’t know why you are calling her Stinky. Wha’sup with that? I don’t think T & G’s mama would be stinky.
11:11 am on August 10th, 2011
Golinka!….She is a Golinka…heh! …Little Stinker. Just ask her grandpa…snort! …Or catch up on the blog.
11:17 am on August 10th, 2011
Rio – I love the name Golinka – it’s used here in this area – but calling the Royal Mum ‘Stinky’ isn’t nice. Couldn’t you find another name? You’re such a clever dog, you can do better than that!
11:28 am on August 10th, 2011
No!…I kinda like Stinky Mama…heh!snort!heh!
11:28 am on August 10th, 2011
There is also a lot of French influence in this area, so another term of endearment here is ‘mon petit chou’ – my little cabbage.
11:31 am on August 10th, 2011
Mama!… Okay, okay. I will refrain from calling her Stinky Mama except on certain occasions…snort! …From now on she will be called, “Royal Stinker”….heh!snort!
11:32 am on August 10th, 2011
B&M: Silent/Listen–that’s interesting.
11:44 am on August 10th, 2011
B&M: Interesting that those two words contain the same letters. Golinkas are skunks. Golinka, little stinker, was an endearing term used by her Gramps when the Royal mum was a wee one.
Siber-H and T&G’s mum enjoy your visit. Lots of pictures please!
Melanie: Please check your SDD!
Have a cool day everyone!
11:49 am on August 10th, 2011
Macy. Didn’t get a chance to respond last night, but we are very sorry your mom will not be coming to DC; we were really looking forward to seeing her. But it sounds as though she made a good decision, with her hip and everything. Hopefully there will be another opportunity soon. And while DC has been incredibly hot for us, for her it probably would have been a cool break. And tomorrow, the high will only be 85 and the low in the 60s. Thank dog for that.
Can’t wait to see the pictures of the grand meeting, which should actually be taking place very soon now. Hope the Iditarod tags are visible too (hopefully SiberH didn’t smear any mascara on them either).
Wookie
11:52 am on August 10th, 2011
Masquers and Bee, Yes interesting, but the hint was missed by a certain someone.
Sorry, probably can’t totally catch up on the blog, we lost so many days, so will just move forward and try not to ask too many questions.
Golinka is cute, just has a different image than Stinky Mama. Just sayin….
12:01 pm on August 10th, 2011
Barb!… If you want me to shuddup I will, just say the word. Don’t hint around with anagrams……grunt!
12:30 pm on August 10th, 2011
Rio, I don’t want you to shuddup, I did however, think I was being unusually clever with my anagram. Snorkle!
Incidently, tell your friend that she was very smart to bail out of the market when she did. She was smarter than most people were., including a certain someone around here.
1:28 pm on August 10th, 2011
Hi everyone. Mama had a GREAT morning. She met Siber and his mom! She is GREAT!!!! And Siber is absolutly gorgeous. Mama did remember to bring him a doggie bag from breakfast and Siber said it was great. He is such a gentleman and has the most beautiful eyes. They are set off by his elegant black Iditadod tag.
Mama has sent pics to Melanie’s SDD and Melanie will post them to the blog. Mama can’t post pics from get iPhone
They are now on their way to Gallup to see if they won any ribbons in the art competition
1:32 pm on August 10th, 2011
Rio – the Royal Stinker has decreed that all grumpy pugs should be flipped over and given belly rubs til they can’t stop giggling!
1:32 pm on August 10th, 2011
Hope the visit between SiberH and the Royal’s mum is going well.
Sad news. A canine officer here in Texas died from heat related causes. We didn’t catch the whole story this morning but saw his pic. A good looking black shepherd type. Did catch that it wasn’t from being left in a hot car.
1:53 pm on August 10th, 2011
Oh, no! Barb, not you too. A certain someone here is still licking her financial wounds. Teaches us to pay more attention than dollars.
Note to Self: Ride the wave if you dare, but beware if the clock is ticking. Only the young have the time to recover from the Market’s inevitable downturns.
Siber-H: Sounds like a wonderful visit with the Royal mum and I’m sure you enjoyed that doggie bag. We are all looking forward to some great pictures!
1:59 pm on August 10th, 2011
Sorry, was vacuuming the pool. Will now check my SDD.

comments and pictures by the Royals’ Mum
“Looking at his mom with pure adoration. What a beautiful dog he is. His coat is just lovely and I love the markings on his face! He is a a really sweet dog too. Gentle with taking treats- no greedy gulper like certain Corgis who shall remain nameless.”

“Siber getting scritches.”

2:14 pm on August 10th, 2011
What a beautiful gentledog. I can see why Natasha is smitten!
Need some lunch!
2:14 pm on August 10th, 2011
I have returned!
Mom and I had such a great visit!! I really, really, liked the Royal’s folks, and it was wonderful to get to meet both of them. I don’t really, really like all two-leggeds (dogs, yes) that I meet. Somtimes I am just indifferent. Mom calls it aloof. It is the nature of some of us Sibers.
The dog bag was a class act! Yummy…I truly appreciate it.
Okay, Everyone! Crossed paws for the Royal’s mum that she wins ribbons tonight in Gallup. We have all seen some of her work and know that she should win.
2:15 pm on August 10th, 2011
Melanie: Thanks for the pictures!
Siber-H: You are SO handsome. Your avatar doesn’t do you justice!
2:15 pm on August 10th, 2011
Siber-H, just have to let you know that when the Royals’ parents come up for a visit they are dog attractors.
2:19 pm on August 10th, 2011
A Big Thank You to the Royal’s mum for taking the pictures and to Melanie for posting them.
The black tag that is showing up in the first picture is my Iditarod tag.
2:25 pm on August 10th, 2011
Siber you are beautiful. My favorite picture is the last–look at those ears pointed and alert! Coloring is wonderful. What are scritches?
Best of luck Royal Mum!
2:26 pm on August 10th, 2011
I’ve learned a new word: “luthier”–one who makes stringed instruments, derived from the French “luth” meaning lute.
2:28 pm on August 10th, 2011
SH: Is the tag in the third picture the Iditarod tag also?
2:35 pm on August 10th, 2011
Stover, scritches are scratches. It is the IPaw and the fact that they are on the road to Gallup.
Yes, that must also be the Iditarod tag in the third picture.
The printing it has on it on one side is the year of the Race and on the other side is the number that was assigned to that particular dog for the race. WOO WOO That tag went all the way to Nome!
BTW Our low temperature tonight is suppose to be 70 degress. The low in Gallup will be 42 degrees. I am living in the wrong part of the state.
2:38 pm on August 10th, 2011
I tried to enlarge the photo on my stuff and then sharpen it. But it’s way too small; I just get pixels. Can anyone tell why the photo is interesting? Notice he doesn’t say the cover. It is on top of a print out, but I can’t tell what that is.
Darnation
2:45 pm on August 10th, 2011
Melanie: I think it may be sitting on a galley proof of TDWKTM, but I think I also see part of an Iditarod patch on the top of the photo. Are they ready yet?
2:50 pm on August 10th, 2011
Melanie: I was wondering the same thing and I can’t enlarge the picture either. Kirby is right–that does look like a patch. Is the one word that is visible on the paper under the book “Dog” or “Bog” or “Boy”??
2:58 pm on August 10th, 2011
I just zoomed in on it at 400% and the one word that is showing is “Dog” but the other two words don’t look like “the” or “who.”
3:01 pm on August 10th, 2011
I forgot this computer has a zoom on the desktop. When I did that W could be the next letter.
3:02 pm on August 10th, 2011
Bee: It looks like “e Dog W” on the paper. On the patchy looking thing, there’s an “r” and what looks like the bottom of a “o” and “d.” But it looks a little large in relation to the size of the book — wasn’t there supposed to be a larger version of the patch to go on the sled?
3:06 pm on August 10th, 2011
Kirby, That is a yes to your question.
3:14 pm on August 10th, 2011
The letter after “Dog” looks like a “P” to me and it doesn’t look like an “e” before “Dog.”
Okay Spence–we give. What is it?
3:38 pm on August 10th, 2011
Siber-H, You are even more handsome than I imagined! Rose is right. Your avatar doesn’t do you justice.
Melanie & Royal mum thank you for the pictures of SH!
3:46 pm on August 10th, 2011
Just got back on the blog because I’m working today. Thanks for the tip. Rio and for the URL B. I copied and pasted and it worked. I like this guy.
4:05 pm on August 10th, 2011
TYB: I’ve never taught Philip Levine (meaning I’ve never researched or studied him) but I enjoy reading his poetry.
4:28 pm on August 10th, 2011
I liked what I read in the Times and shall look for some more of his work.
4:30 pm on August 10th, 2011
I like Levine’s collection titled “The Mercy Poems.”
5:47 pm on August 10th, 2011
Siber-H – You are the most handsome Husky I have ever seen! I can just see you at the dog park with your special Iditarod tag. Other doggies – eat your heart out!
5:50 pm on August 10th, 2011
SiberH!… Boy does that guy have everybody fooled…heh!…. Gently taking treats offered to him… hmmmphf!…. What a great actor! What a schmooze! What a show-off!….grunt! ….Look at him gobble down the bacon and hamburger on the floor! That person nearly lost their foot….sniff!
5:53 pm on August 10th, 2011
Starring!….What’s he starring at all glassy eyed-like?….grunt! …Was there another bag o’ food somewhere?…heh! …Or is that how he looks when he is trying to remember something?…snort!
6:29 pm on August 10th, 2011
Mom enlarged the picture, and in HHO, it is in fact Dog W(ho).
Thanks Wooks for the good wishes. Mom is kind of wishing that she had decided to go now. A large part of the problem is that Dad was leaving to go to Emittsburg, MD on Sunday and Mom’s flight was not until late Tuesday. *sigh* She would really like to go Somewhere That is Not Here.
Ok we have figured it out. A Camelpop.
6:29 pm on August 10th, 2011
Rio, I can’t remember for sure but I think I was starring at food.
Thank all of you for your kind compliments, and once again thank you to the Royals’ mum and Melanie.
6:30 pm on August 10th, 2011
What is Siber starring in? A movie? A play? what, what???
6:40 pm on August 10th, 2011
He’s starring in his own mom’s eyes!
YSAS is in another day of Boardwalk. Yesterday they did close up of him and his “date” meeting, him putting her corsage on and then walking into a ball. Cool.
Have no idea what he’s doing today.
6:41 pm on August 10th, 2011
Please ignore the terrible English grammar on the above comment.
I’m going to bed even though it only 6:42 pm. Jeez Lousie!

Looking forward to seeing YSAS in Boardwalk!
7:17 pm on August 10th, 2011
Is Bear back from Norway?
7:19 pm on August 10th, 2011
Macy, Macy, what am I going to do with you. If you ever meet a Great Big Standard Poodle, fierce, you will run for cover, you little thing, you.
7:27 pm on August 10th, 2011
Back from a grueling walk. Maybe not as grueling as Rio’s, but I doubt he has a thousand big guys with bows and arrows at his house either. Mom said walking has to stick to the sidewalks since the International Bowhunters Organization has descended upon us. They’re supposed to be shooting at targets placed in the woods up the ski trails up the mountain.
I saw some of these guys and they look like they have been in the woods too long. I’m going to hide under the bed.
7:39 pm on August 10th, 2011
Hi Bear!
Another wonderful day on Wall Street. Makes no sense. We are still the same country we were before they down rated our credit rating, Boo hoo. Glad we have half of our investments in fixed annuities and bonds, or we would really be singing the blues.
Siber, you were marvelous. We were kinda hoping to see some shots of people too. Is that a possibility?
7:44 pm on August 10th, 2011
Mollypop: Stay safe!
7:48 pm on August 10th, 2011
Be careful Mollypop. Some of thsoe whackos will shoot at anything moving.
Off subject, when Barb was at the office yesterday, she mentioned that she liked Rizzoli and Isles. One of the agents, who is about 50 said they watched it too. Barb said Sasha Alexander is Sophia Loren’s daughter-in-law. The agent said “Who is Sophia Loren”. Barb asked her if she lived in a cave. How can anyone not know who she is? She has been an actress longer than that woman has been alive.
8:04 pm on August 10th, 2011
Barb, My mom didn’t want any pictures of her taken. She hates the camera…T&G’s mom offered to tke some, so this is all my mom’s fault. I am much better looking than my mom anyway. She says she wishes she was one of those people who look like their dogs.
Mollypop, We have seen those bowhunters in southwestern Colorado. They were dressed like a Special Forces team, but were hunting Elk with their bows…scary because they seem to take themselves very seriously.
8:18 pm on August 10th, 2011
Bear still there
8:37 pm on August 10th, 2011
Bow-Hunters! …Is it just me or is there always something exciting happening in Molly’s town?…snort!… Never a dull moment. She never has to leave home to have a vacation atmosphere…wuffle!… My friend thinks she want to visit that town someday and just watch everything that happens…heh!
8:39 pm on August 10th, 2011
Supper!… I got some spaghetti with meat sauce tonight….sluurrrp! … My friend thinks I need some extra carbs because of the Brutal Walks we’ve been doing non-stop now forever…grunt!… Sounds good to me. The spaghetti part, not the brutal walk part…sniff!
8:56 pm on August 10th, 2011
Rio – There was a wedding here a few weeks ago on the top of the mountain. Mom’s ski patrol friend had to load them onto the chair lift and get them safely back down again. This was not only the bride and groom, but the whole wedding party and the musicians!
9:02 pm on August 10th, 2011
Good night all.
9:34 pm on August 10th, 2011
Pollymop, you do for sure live in an interesting place. If it were not for the lovely view of the CowPalace from the hill, there would be nothing to see at all.
9:56 pm on August 10th, 2011
We agree with Macy, Molly does live in an exciting place. Maybe we should all move there.
Don’t want to jinx anything but we have a showing Friday. Agent is driving an hour to meet the people who I think are coming out from the burbs. First showing in a while, so we are excited.
10:06 pm on August 10th, 2011
MagPie! Good luck tomorrow.
10:36 pm on August 10th, 2011
Oh! How exciting!
Yes the ARC is very exciting but I’m talking about Siber H., his mom and T&G and B&S’s mum and dad getting together. That is wonderful and thanks to Melanie for posting the pictures they sent to her. How handsome can one dog be? Dog on handsome is the answer and Siber H. did have his mascara put on with perfection. Well-behaved? Siber H? That is not something I have heard before. Must’ve had his Sunday go-to-meeting manners on.
The ARC: Spencer Quinn is getting better and better at this Chet and Bernie thing, I swear. I read the second 100 pages and there will be no disappointed customers. I will tell you this much without spoiling anything for you. Hebrew Nationals are mentioned and so is Zen. Oh! and right now Chet is visiting Iggy at Iggy’s house. Oh this is so, so excellent.
My other excellent news is that I got Staff’s 3-dog quilt in the mail today! It is bee-yoo-tea-full and she sent me two chicken hot pads from Debbie LM’s quilt material! Awesome! Thank you dear sister.
TMLG: Better luck next time (not really). All my auction items are now accounted for.
Rose: Yes, the cover of the ARC is different than the actual book. It has Chet looking out over the desert and more silhouette-y.
Now I will catch up on the rest of the day’s happenings on the blog.
10:55 pm on August 10th, 2011
Hooray, that’s great that Iggy finally gets a visit from Chet!
Good luck Barb with the showing.
11:00 pm on August 10th, 2011
Macy MinPin: You get the spelling award for noticing the difference between starring and staring.
Mollypop: I’m glad you stayed on the sidewalk. Those bow hunters are a breed unto themselves.
Which reminds me. I made a sling-shot at Treaty Days. Must practice.
T&G and B&S’s mum: Best of luck tonight. I’m thinking best of show.
Barb and Maggie: Good luck showing the house. I am not listening to any news about the stock market for 2 years or so.
Barb and Maggie: Good luck with you
11:02 pm on August 10th, 2011
Dawson!…My friend says you will have to lay the ARC near her Fan, if you ever get it. She says that’s the closest she will ever get to an ARC…heh!…That doesn’t make any sense at all…sniff!
11:06 pm on August 10th, 2011
Bed!…We watched the 3rd episode of Due South tonight. Leslie Neilson was a guest star. Boy was that guy funny!…heh!snort!…Time for bed now!…snort!
11:12 pm on August 10th, 2011
Rio: You’re right. It makes no sense because the fan is going to be 3000 miles or so away from the ARC. Unless you want to take your chances with Canadian Customs? And the Lying Marauders!
11:16 pm on August 10th, 2011
Hey LizF: G’day to you and good night to the rest. Give Cricket a scritch and a pat for me. Hope he’s feeling tip-top.

I will, thanks Dawson!
12:45 am on August 11th, 2011
Helloooooo to anyone still awake. What a great day this has been. First meeting Siber and his mom. Then we got to Gallup and starting to see friends all over the place. Then we got to the big opening night and found that the judges kind of liked our work. We got 5 blue ribbons, 1 second place and 2 third place ribbons. Then we went for dinner with friends and are back at their house ready to call it a night. Our friend here is a big facebookie and was trying to explain all the games she plays- something about a cupcake corner and a cafe and farmville. It’s all Greek to us, but then again we’re so exhausted, sliced bread doesn’t even make sense
Goodnight all – back tomorrow

whar breed is Chet the Dog? I visualize him as a German SHepherd since he was in K-9 training. Solve this mystery for me, please and thank you. A faithful reader
