Um
“Where,” says Admin, calling from HQ, “are those pics of you tossing the stress balls to the pop quiz winners on The Sound and the Furry tour?”
“Um,” says Spence.
“And the group photo of last night’s winners at Regulator Books in Raleigh?”
“I did find out why it’s called Regulator,” Spence says.
Welcome Mystery.

Good morning from the beach where we don’t need a stress ball
8:51 am on September 20th, 2013
Gooood morning, everyone! Poor SQ. Travel, talk, throw stress balls, answer questions, take fotos, post fotos. What’s a guy to do?
Perhaps a non-friction Friday is in order?
8:53 am on September 20th, 2013
OK Royals, enjoy the beach, rub salt into the wounds, eat lobster till ya’ll pop. See if we care 🙂 We do.
9:09 am on September 20th, 2013

Dima has many admirers on this here blog it is true.
Good morning from us here on the island!
As the morning mist swirls through the trees a full wolf moon (tip of the hat to Siber) sets in the western sky.

Ooh, we love moonsets!

What is that old adage? Red sky in the morning..sailor’s warning? If not red it is pink. We here (were) are looking forward to another warm fall day.

Oh, for Buddy’s information a TOGA is a Treadle On Gathering and Academy for collectors and users of Treadle Sewing Machines. There will be about 50 of us and about 100 machines…
9:59 am on September 20th, 2013
Jeez I didn’t post my earlier post! I thought I did.

And, with a simple post, albeit by another, Dawson makes her presence known on the blog.
10:08 am on September 20th, 2013
Love those double D’s! TOGA, never knew such a thing existed. Mom’s got a an old treadle (like there are new ones?) that she has made down jackets and heavy stuff on in the past. She just thought it was an anachronism that she was fond of.
10:15 am on September 20th, 2013
We are going to disassemble the computer now and take it over to have info. transferred to the new one. May be back later and may not be back till tomorrow.
Barb just called the book store and the books were signed and ready to mail out. They must not be familiar with this phone in request, as he said “Yes, they are even personalized with a special message that you requested”.
Have a good day everyone!
10:18 am on September 20th, 2013
B&M: Paws crossed.
10:24 am on September 20th, 2013
Let’s hope the books were personalized correctly and that the store didn’t have the books made out to Marb and Baggie.

I can always tell that Tenzing is feeling better when he starts cracking jokes. That guy…
10:50 am on September 20th, 2013
Tenzing – ever the optimist.
Have fun Staff. But we hunk you should wear a sheet to the TOGA.
Masquers – lovely moon set. And we have to be up early at the beach. Certain Corgis demand it. At home, there is a fenced in back yard, so a sleepy person can just open the back door. At the beach, leashes, walking and poop bags are involved.
10:53 am on September 20th, 2013
Whew! A sleepless night, but kind of the best kind, except for the part about not getting the iPhone ordered in time for it to get here quickly (because it wanted my state ID number, you know, from my not driver’s license and I didn’thave that until later…) But besides that, I finished Furry. Remember that part where I said I was almost done? Yeah, I stupidly forgot that the book was in two parts, so I was only almost half done. But that was good, because it meant several more hours. Like I said. Sleepless night, but the best kind.
Ooh, I’m behind. I need to go and check eocder Ring Theatre because the new season of Black Jack Justice started! If you haven’t heard the adventures of Jack Justice and Trixie Dixon, Girl Detective, you really should. In the style of ’40’s and ’50’s era detective radio drama, with witty dialog and some truly standout episodes. Stories are standalone, but it’s kind of fun to start from the beginning, which you can, because all episodes are archives. A tip: “The Albatross”, episode 39 or 40 (forgetexactly) is outstanding, probably the best of the run, and that’s saying something.
Treadle sewing machines! That’s awesome! And that many…fantastic. I love stuff like that, although my particular thing is old radio. While I’d love to get a vintage ham radio station set up here, I probably won’t, but I do have several mechanical morse code keys. Nothing “collectible”, I don’t care much about that, but old or interesting somehow, I care about. Besides, it amuses me to use a key that weighs more than the radio it’s connected to. ah, modern technology. And old technology.

On Demand is showing all 22 episodes of Elementary in anticipation of the new season I suppose. I have it on dvd anyway.

B: We DEMAND an On Demand like yours!
Buddy&Leno: Thanks for the Tip! We are going to check it out (Black Jack Justice).

Hi everyone. We need your attention for a couple of minutes. Please gather around.
I just got off the phone with Melanie. There is a problem.
Most of you were around a couple of years ago when one of Melanie’s cat scans came back with some questionable results. She endured biopsies, poking and prodding and a lot of pain. Then suddenly, the spot seen on her liver just vanished. Poof. Gone. We like to think that the powers of prayers had something to do with it.
Since then, her scans have been fine.
Not so much for the one she had the other day.
The doctor has called her and said there is another questionable object in her liver. Different than the last time.
Obviously this is scary stuff. We will be seeing the doctor on Tuesday to find out more.
Melanie is too shaken up to be able to be on the blog right now. But she wanted her friends to know, and to ask you for your prayers.
We will be with her through all of this.
Thanks, friends.
1:24 pm on September 20th, 2013
Melanie will be in out pawsitive thoughts and pawrayers all day.
T&G: Ask your Mama if we could all do a special time for her at the evening hour, tonight.
1:28 pm on September 20th, 2013
Thinking positive thoughts Melanie.
1:30 pm on September 20th, 2013
Bear: My On Demand is Comcast. Sorry if you can’t get the reruns of Elementary.
1:35 pm on September 20th, 2013
Tupper’s Mama: The Strength of Our Plunderer Prayers are with Melanie now.
We like Sharon’s idea of a Prayer-time this evening.
Please count us in.
1:43 pm on September 20th, 2013
Thinking of Melanie; sending prayers. She is so special to so many people. Waiting is the hardest.
2:10 pm on September 20th, 2013
Smoochers: Let’s head to the quilt to tend to Melanie. If you need me to blur your to the Quilt let me know. I don’t mind doing it one bit, but don’t forget my rules. Tenzing is under the Quilt with Melanie and has requested back-up.
Yes! Count us in for a prayer.
2:18 pm on September 20th, 2013
Good
MorningAfternoon Everyone!T&G, Thanks for letting us know about Melanie. Tell her I had something on my liver too. Twins? The doc took that out while he was taking out my spleen and that other thing. No problemo. I hope she doesn’t have to get anything taken out though. A special prayer tonight sounds like the Perfect Thing.
Last night, all 3 of us Howlers went to Yappy Hour at a place called Lucky Lab Tavern, although we did not see a single Lab. But there were lots of other Members of the Nation there: big ones like Addie the Bull Mastiff, and little ones like Teddy and Jeffrey and our very good friend Sandy (Cherokee’s chihuahua sister). And then there was Cherokee, who most of you know as our bestest of friends. We all had one heck of a lot to drink while we were there. Everyone of us drank water (that’s the drink of choice for all of us…isn’t that amazing?) !!
This morning, I rode to work with Mom and she dropped me off with all of my very special friends at the special doc’s place. They gave me lots of treats and then we all laid down and cuddled and took a nice nap. Then Mom picked me up and took me to that Rita’s place again for a custard. Am I living the dream, or what?
2:19 pm on September 20th, 2013
Luna, I’m heading out now.
2:21 pm on September 20th, 2013
Us, too…count us in for a prayer.
Melanie, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We will all be with you through this.
2:27 pm on September 20th, 2013
Luna: Taking off with more supplies as we speak. Will meet everyone under the quilt.
2:43 pm on September 20th, 2013
Here are all the Members of the Nation at my table last night. Sandy is the one with the glow-in-the-dark eyes being held. Then there are Kat and Meashka and Cherokee. I took the photo.

2:43 pm on September 20th, 2013
T&G: Ask your Mama to check her SDD.
2:45 pm on September 20th, 2013
Are the Smoochers being called in?
2:47 pm on September 20th, 2013
Yes Princess….We are to report for duty. Want me to pick you up? I now have my very own Blurring License.
2:48 pm on September 20th, 2013
O’Howlers! I thought that was youse at the Lucky Lab Tavern! It was Yappy Hour and there were lots of members of the nation within…or was that A Dream?
2:50 pm on September 20th, 2013
Melanie, Strong prayers coming to you from Grizz and me. You are in our thoughts.
2:50 pm on September 20th, 2013
If it was a dream, Bear, we all shared the same one. And this morning, we had a slight water hangover to prove it.
3:03 pm on September 20th, 2013
3:08 pm on September 20th, 2013
O’Howlers: thanks for the laugh. Squirrels are really active right now heading into winter. Sadie gets scolded a lot walking through the woods. Friends of mine who lived *in* the woods would shoot squirrels and their dog would pick up the body and do a death march to a secret, special squirrel graveyard.
3:09 pm on September 20th, 2013
Ah, Howler, you have grasped the essence of life!
3:25 pm on September 20th, 2013
The Hot One could be a movie star.
3:28 pm on September 20th, 2013
Yes, Kat, please pick me up.
3:34 pm on September 20th, 2013
Oh, Siber. You do go on. hee hee
4:09 pm on September 20th, 2013
Melanie, we have had many miracles occur within our special group of friends. I know how scary these things can be. Next week will be the 1 year anniversary of Truman’s seizure which led to finding the brain cancer. Thank Kat for the seizure because it led to finding the cancer early and then to surgery and treatment. So far he is cancer free and is living a normal, blessed life. I don’t think, I KNOW that the support of friends, family and my blog friends had to have some part in the positive outcome. You will have all our prayers and all the support you need from each one of us. We will be there for the prayer circle. I hope you can feel the love.
BooBear’s Mom
4:36 pm on September 20th, 2013
Melanie — our thoughts and prayers are with you. I think Boo Bear’s Mom said it best, so I will just add, me too.

Teddy R.R.! That is Big News indeed!
5:13 pm on September 20th, 2013
BooBear’s Mom and Howler’s Mom – thank you for the very timely reminders. Melanie can indeed feel the love. She most likely won’t be around today, but she knows that there will be a prayer gathering at 9, and she will open her heart to hear it.
Meanwhile, let peace wash over all of you

The Smoochers have gathered at the quilt. We each took a corner and swaddled Melanie in it. The Newfs are here as well. Word went across the Bridge for the Veil to be thinned so Melanie can feel the love of all those she loves and those who love her. Pancho and Lefty have been dispatched to find gluten free Swedish Fish. Considering that such Swedish fish don’t exist to our knowledge they might have a bit of trouble, but it is nothing but the best for our Melanie.
5:19 pm on September 20th, 2013
Royal Mum: Thank You for that small bit of Heaven. We will replay it often.
5:23 pm on September 20th, 2013
Welcome Teddy RR.
5:29 pm on September 20th, 2013
Guys, don’t try to find Swedish fish for our dear Melanie. She is the one who taught me about the dangers of “modified food starch.” The “food” could be rice, wheat, anything that can be made into starch. I don’t think Melanie shoots craps – at least not as she has mentioned.

If it’s not one thing it’s another. Pop’s horse Chato is going to New Bolton (Univ of Penn Large Animal Hospital) on Sunday. On Monday, the eye specialist will see him, and it is very likely he will have his right eye removed. He is already blind in that eye, and it is bothering him, so Mom assures us this is for the best. But still…he is such a handsome guy. Sniff

Previous post is in moderation, and we have no idea why. So we aregoing to try to redo it piecemeal.

The word not allowed is the term for a special person. Go figure.

Chato’s nickname can be Lefty. That practically makes us twins. I knew I liked him and I’ve never even met him. I will be sending pawsitive thoughts for my twin.
6:08 pm on September 20th, 2013
Dainty licks, and powerful headbumps to Melanie, take as needed, it is not possible to overdose on them.
We are running a bit behind on our reading here. Furry is on hold at the library, one person ahead of us. However, we just this hour finished Dogtripping. I seem to remember someone mentioning having read it. The people who volunteered to help seemed suspiciously like Rosenfelt brand Plunderers. And we loved the part where he talked about checking out books to make sure no animals were harmed before reading it. We really enjoyed the book, and would happily read more about his dogs. He mostly adopts senior dogs, so you know they are not going to be with him long, but it is so nice to know that they all went out loved and comfortable.
6:11 pm on September 20th, 2013
O’Howlers: So Sorry to hear about your Pop’s Horse, Charo. Thinking of you and sending Prayers.
6:11 pm on September 20th, 2013
Tenz, we have been too intimidated to even try figuring out airline miles yet. Mom and Grandma prefer not to blur. Anyone she has told about her potential plans says “Why not go when it is warmer?” Would you see if you can get the Iditarod moved to August? Actually, this could be a good test for mom, who has always said she would rather be cold than hot.
6:38 pm on September 20th, 2013
Prayers definitely for Melanie. We know all about these crazy medical thingies around here, believe me.
Also, I hate it when my keyboard drops letters. Decoder Ring Theatre. Yes.

O’Howlers: Sending prayers and healing thoughts to your pop’s horse.

Sharon’s HOH: Thank You for the reminder. We will be here for the Prayer Circle in one hour at 6 PM our time.

Fellow Sibers, Chato will still be a handsome guy with one eye removed, and since the eye is bothering him now, he is going to feel much better.
TeddyRR, Great news! Thank you.

Creator – we thank you for this day, a day of remembering and a day of hope. Today the waves washed over the sand, endlessly moving, never ceasing in their caressing bond with the shore. The waves have sung a song to us today. It was a song of life and life going on. It was a song about prayers. It was a song about love. It was a song about continuing on, forever one with the univeres.
Creator – Today the waters brought gifts to the shores. There were beautiful shells and smooth tumbled stones. There were comical little crabs and pools holding elegant starfish. Today, there were seagulls floating gracefully on the breeze and the grasses in the salt marshes bobbed their heads in rhythm to the ocean’s song.Creator – Today we were surrounded by the beauty of your world and we are reminded of the song that resided in each of our souls. Sometimes we forget the notes. Sometimes the song seems too sad to bear singing. But each day the song is reawakened in each of us.Give us the wisdom to live that song.
Creator – the songs of all our hearts are sung in harmony tonight. We come to you with special purpose, And lift our music to you. One of the voices has trouble singing under this blanket of stars. Although strong in the song of her life, her voice falters in a fear of what is to come.We ask you to weave our songs around her, let our harmonies heal her spirit, let our notes soar to lift her heart. Let all of our songs wash over her as the waves wash over the sand, smoothing all they tough, wiping away all the furrows and the bumps.
As our songs reach out to help and heal Melanie, we also ask you under this Wolf Moon to let our songs wash over and help Dima and Gracie. Give them ears to hear the voices of all who care about them, from the desert of New Mexico to the cold winds of Alaska. Let them hear the songs that come from the oceans and the mountains. Let them feel a part of this endless universe and be filled with comfort and hope from our song.
Creator – on this night we also thank you for the wonders we have seen. WE thank you for the healing that had come to Truman and to Sharon and to Buddy’s wife and daughter. We thank you for the continuing health of Staff and ask you to keep Tenzing and Chato in you comforting hands. We ask you to watch over baby Jace, and help his parents to give him a good life. We thank you for the memories of those who have left us this year. We will never think of The Raven, Maggie, Wookie, Gus or any of our other beloved ones without remembering all their goodness.
Creator – We thank you for this day, a day of remembering and a day of hope. Today the waves washed over the sand, endlessly moving, never ceasing with their caressing bond with the shore. The waves have sung a song for us today. It was a song of life and life going on. It was a song about prayers. It was a song about love. O’Howlers. About your moderated post. Do you not remember the trouble I had with the word special-ist? For some reason it is on the banned list also. If we posted about a gambol-ing shew special-ist it would never get on the blog…snicker
Melanie, oh my dear. Peaceful loving thoughts going out to you.
