Two More Good Stupid Pop Quiz Answers
First, to repeat the stupid question, based on the events of a stupid game that feels like it took place in the Devonian Age: What do Ty Cobb (lifetime B.A. .366) and George Sisler (lifetime B.A. .340) have in common with Chris Davis (lifetime B.A. .255) and Darnell McDonald (lifetime B.A. .247)?
Here’s what Rio had to say:
Ty Cobb and George Sisler used to put their pants on one leg at a time….snort!… Chris Davis and Darnell McDonald also dress this way….heh!…Oh and Cobb and Sisler went up against each other out of position as did Davis and McDonald.
And from Candice Boysen:
They have all been involved in some manner with the Baltimore Orioles, previously known as the St. Louis Browns. Ty Cobb led the Detroit Tigers against the St. Louis Browns on October 4, 1925. George Sisler pitched for the Browns for many years between 1915 and 1927. Chris Davis is a first baseman for the Orioles, and Darnell McDonald was drafted to the Orioles in 2004.

Good morning everyone. Beautiful morning here in Illinois. Going to go out to the patio and enjoy a cup of coffee.
Glad to see that we had some late appearances from friends last night – C Harris, G & B, and Staff. C Harris, that weight loss is so impressive. Barb says she needs to shed some pounds too, and it isn’t easy like when she was younger.
Glad to see that Rio’s answer got posted. See, they do listen to us. BBL after some caffine.

I’m wondering how one puts on pants two legs at a time. Pondering.
I’m also thinking of Barb on the patio with a cup of coffee. Now that sounds like a good idea!
Good morning all.
9:25 am on May 20th, 2012
Good Morning. Hmm, maybe I’ve been putting on those darn hose wrong all this time. snicker.
Siber-H has taken to going where no Siber has gone before! He must really NOT want to get married.

Good Morning.
Did someone say coffee?
9:34 am on May 20th, 2012
Good morning and Happy Sunday! We had such a pretty day yesterday that we never even got near the iPaw, so we are a whole blog day behind.
Today looks to be beautiful too. We are hanging out with Mom and Pop who are drinking coffee and tea on the porch. The birds are going crazy at the feeders. Mom loves them; we think they are a nuisance.
Our uncle was going to come over here to show us his new Prius V. Bit he just called to say he was at the hospital. His wife, a minister, thinks she had a stroke while gettingready for her service. We are all very worried.
9:43 am on May 20th, 2012
Oley, Hope your aunt is OK. They say it is very important to get treatment right away after suffering a stroke. Much better chance of recovery, so good thing she went to the hospital right away.
Had some coffee, planted 2 pots with flowers, now time for an old fashioned bacon and egg breakfast. Bacon cured from our Berkie pig, and eggs layed right here on the farm. Yum!
9:55 am on May 20th, 2012
Barb and Maggie, we had our eggs this morning too. We each get an egg on our kibble on Sunday mornings.
We are all out of our fantastic Caw Caw bacon! Mom tried to place a large pork order online, but almost everything was out of stock! She left a voicemail to see how long, but we may just take a trip down to Wye Brook.
Our steer is going to be ready this week. Yumm. We got our wonderful organic chickens last Thursday. Our lettuce is producing and is fabulous. The peas, potatoes, onions, and beans are all growing beautifully. Life is good. We love this season!
10:17 am on May 20th, 2012
Good morning, all.
We are heading out to work on the flower beds before church. There are weeds everywhere!
Mom will mail the book to you tomorrow, Bear, and then you can send it to Barb.

I’m totally exhausted today. Yesterday was Routes to Art and my friends and I started at 10 a.m. when the artists studios opened and we went until 5 p.m. when they closed. Here are the artists:
http://www.routestoart.com/artists.html
What a day! There was no way we could see them all, the geographic area is too large, but we were awed by all of the talent.
10:40 am on May 20th, 2012
Thank you for the link Mollypop’s Mom. That would be a fun tour.
I looked up Devonian Age. (The term is also used today in a NYTimes book review.) It was too many millions of years ago to comprehend but it was named after Devon, England where there are apparently many fossils from the period.

Oley, Barb makes this wilted lettuce salad using the leaf lettuce that is to die for. Not the best, health wise, but she says the organic fresh lettuce balances it out. Her mom used to make this salad. Pick, wash and “look the lettuce”. Cook 2-3 strips of bacon, set aside to crumble. Heat the bacon grease, add some sugar, vinegar and a splash of water. Pour hot dressing over the lettuce, add crumbled bacon and toss. Serve immediately.
Barb’s mom used to say she was going to “look the lettuce”. Yesterday, when we found 2 little green caterpillars in the lettuce, we found out what she meant.

Good mOrning to Plunderers
Commander Bee – you have asked Natasha qvestion about vhy to get married. Is like this. Natasha has been trained from pup for most challenging and dangerous missions. Ve have recovered top secret government documents, exposed donor agents, and foiled plots to take over vorld. Ve have gotten little bored. Vhile running alongside Snowhook team in Farevell Burn, Narasha tripped, fell and hit head. Vhen ve avoke, ve had sudden revelation. Next big challenge – marriage. Next big mission – convince incorrigible play-dog to settle down.
So, you see – is only logical progression of career. Has nothing to do vith fact that ve think certain Siber doggie is stud-muffin.
11:23 am on May 20th, 2012
Melanie, Love the photo. I am laughing.
SiberRambo…I like that.
Rio got his name up in lights! The front page of Chet’s blog.
Staff has returned to us with more sewing machines.
CHarris checked in with us and we hope you have a good trip visiting your dad.

I knew it! A serious head injury! Let’s find that girl a good doctor. (or the Dog Whisperer)
Rio, I wasn’t with you on the blog last night because I watched so many sports on tv yesterday afternoon, I was exhausted and fell asleep.
Macy has been missing from the blog.
11:35 am on May 20th, 2012
Staff and her machines. Now I can see Alice and Abbie winding their way through the machines, taking naps on them, having a wonderful time, but where on earth does Mr. Staff stay with all these beautiful machines around? Is he regulated to the garage?
I have watered plants while Zoe and 7 of the Pack did the walk / run. Then Zoe, I, Ellie and Patsy went out to the river for their dip. Patsy did a little exploring.
A Good Time Was Had By All.
Our neighbors across the river from England are hear for the week. He was asking me about wildlife sightings. Turkeys, groundhog and a bear. Also something behind the house . . Mattie has been letting us know that. He put his wildlife camera down by one of the paths last night and something knocked it over. He had forgotten to put his sim card in the camera.
Patsy and I are on a road trip today! BBL

I knew it – we were right on with the high heel caused head injury. If the Dog Whisperer is busy, there is another newbie who works with dogs in NYC. Justin or Jason something. His show starts soon. Maybe he has an opening and will take emergency cases.

Barb&Maggie, This is an emergency!!!

Melanie, How is Dan doing? Are the newlyweds returning from that place today? Are you going to tell us where they went after they return?
1:12 pm on May 20th, 2012
Natasha: You’ve become “a little bored” with your missions. What makes you think the same won’t happen after you get married? (“Stud-muffins” probably equate to dangerous missions.)
2:59 pm on May 20th, 2012
Bee and I both know from whence we speak! Snicker.

Barb: LOL!

Rio: Roses! My favorite flower! If your friend made it, I know I will love it, with or without roses!
Natasha, imagine spending 25 years with the same person….that’s how long the Prof and I have been married.
3:55 pm on May 20th, 2012
pssst Rose, tell Natasha to imagine being married to someone for 25 years who watches a baseball game everyday for 6 months out of the year.
That should do it.
4:21 pm on May 20th, 2012
Natasha, imagine being married to someone who watches a baseball game every, single day for six months! For 25 years, I have shared a bed with the Prof. He snores. Imagine listening to that! (my apologies, Siber)
5:16 pm on May 20th, 2012
Game!…Did someone mention baseball?…snort!…We’ve been outside all afternoon planting flowers in pots…sniff!…Lots of pots are now planted and Beau got a little wet…heh!heh!
5:20 pm on May 20th, 2012
Chilis!…SiberH, those guys planted 15 chili peppers in their little garden space….wheeze!…I think someone got tired of paying a fortune for the Hatch chilis from New Mexico…grunt!
5:29 pm on May 20th, 2012
Rose – is ok. Ve intend to introduce Siber to ballet and opera. Soon he vill forget all about base of balls. No von could ever vant to vatch silly men run around field chasing little white ball vhen they could thrill to leaps and pirouettes of big strong men in tights.
Ve have feeling soon vill be Siber, Rio and Vookie in basement cheering cabrioles and fouette jetes! Ve vill even learn to make the popping corns.
5:34 pm on May 20th, 2012
Tights!…heh!snort!heh!…Big strong men in tights compared to a baseball game….chorkel!…Not in my life-time, no way, no how…sneeze!…The popping corns part is okay though…sniff!

Items!…Has everyone got their photos and descriptions to Rebecca?…sniff!…The deadline is fast approaching – although if you are running a bit behind like my friend is, don’t fret too much…grunt!….I don’t think Rebecca will turn away anything after the deadline has come and gone…wuffle!…She does need time to remodel the existing store and stock the shelves with all of our wonderful Items…snort!…So get them to her as soon as you possibly can…sniff!

6:29 pm on May 20th, 2012
Natasha!! No how, No way, No never
I am not an arty farty kind of guy.
The chili peppers should do okay, Rio. Good idea to plant them.
The price of Hatch green chili keeps going up every year.
6:40 pm on May 20th, 2012
Natasha: Even I am more interested in base of balls than ballet!
6:59 pm on May 20th, 2012
When Staff was young she like the ballet, but she grew up into the base of balls. heh.
Mr.Staff brined and seasoned and then roasted a chicken. We picked asparagus and are steaming it. Mr.Staff is making buttered noodles as a side dish.
The chicken recipe says very low sodium. Since the brine is supposed to be rinsed off completely Staff is hoping this is true.
7:09 pm on May 20th, 2012
Chicken!…Her mother is upstairs makine her version of stir-fry..snort!…It will have chicken innit too…sniff!sniff!…I’m starvin’ from watching my friend work outside all day long…wheeze!

Melanie!…Check your SDD – Number 5 has finally arrived…heh!heh!
7:39 pm on May 20th, 2012
Rio: I love your answer to the not-so-pop-quiz question.
The delivery trucks have continued to arrive today with more items for the MMSB. The items are being checked into inventory and the price gun is smoking. Whew! Rio is correct, if someone can’t make the deadline, not to worry.
Yesterday was quite a day. AJ and I were very stressed about our car situation with the death of our Subaru—we poked it with a stick again to be sure, and it still didn’t move. We are trying to preserve the dog truck for as long as possible, plus it isn’t the ideal commuter car. I started doing research online on Friday night and again on Saturday morning, looking at reviews, pros and cons of different econo cars, and dealer inventories. I am a bargain shopper mostly out of necessity and partly because I like finding good deals. I saw a used car advertised—a 2010 model with only 12K miles on it; it was listed online at a few thousand less than lesser models of the same car with three times the miles; I couldn’t believe it. In light grey print on the web, it said that a copy of the web price must be presented in order to receive the price. AJ and I drove into town to the dealership. The salesperson couldn’t believe the price, but said they would give us the price; of course they would or I was likely to channel my inner Pink Bulldozer. We got the car for $3k less than what it would have been if we hadn’t brough the online information with us, it still has factory warranties and came in under budget. Our credit was better than we expected from when we checked it last year keeping our payments within our desired budget, and we were able to use our dividend (given to AK residents each year) as our down payment (no money out of pocket), which is good because our meager savings is tagged for a certain race.
7:48 pm on May 20th, 2012
Rebecca! Excellent News!!! WoooooHoooooo!!!
7:55 pm on May 20th, 2012
Fantastic, Rebecca!!! You are a good shopper. I have always heard that the best deals on cars are to found online.
8:08 pm on May 20th, 2012
I forgot to mention that word got around that AJ is an musher. While we waited for word from the bank, etc three employee from the car dealership came by and spoke with us. The last gentleman, I had the feeling he was at a management level, that spoke to us showed us a picture of his dog, a husky. I threw caution to the wind and said, “If the boss man wants to sponsor an up and coming musher, this is your guy,” as I pointed to a certain, and somewhat embarrassed red bearded Giant. The man respnded, “Maybe, maybe.”
8:16 pm on May 20th, 2012
Very Good, Rebecca!
Do a follow up
We could all write a loving note to that dealership and suggest that it sponsor AJ, but I don’t think it would do any good because none of us live there.
8:22 pm on May 20th, 2012
REBECCA!! Totally awesome on the car! Very good shopping. Make sure that bank dude sees the video.
Riö, SDD received and sent back.
Jasper, tell your mom I got her SDD and will be sending what she needs back to her tomorrow.

Rebecca, good shopping ! And we are really hoping the dealer becomes a sponsor.
We spent all day outside again, and it was very windy. Sowe are hitting the hay now. Good night.
9:07 pm on May 20th, 2012
So we know that ACWI (A Cat Was Involved) starts with one word, “Chet!” Do you think Spencer will give as a sneak peek at say the next thousand or so words before August? No? It was worth a shot.
Melanie: The honeymoon location is beautiful.
9:08 pm on May 20th, 2012
I was shopping at the Quilt Market when I noticed the name tags on the other two people said they were from the tiny town of Wasilla Alaska.
I carefully wrote down the name of the store on a catalog and promptly left that at the motel when we came home. (You wouldn’t believe the amount of paper you accumulate at Market)
However I talked to the two ladies and they don’t know AJ or Rebecca. Sniff. Well probably they know some other mushers who are actually from Wasilla. ( I have no idea how far Wasilla is from Willow)
9:10 pm on May 20th, 2012
One more thing before hay is hit: Rebecca, check your SDD!

Eclipse!!! We are starting to lose sunlight now. This is so cool.
Total eclipse comes at 7:38 my time. No clouds in the sky for all the people that traveled from far and near to see it here.
9:20 pm on May 20th, 2012
Staff!…Here is a project my friend made while she was thinking of you, Alice, AbbieTheKat and your combined love of little birdies…snort!…Its kinda different because well, it has a bird on it…heh!
9:21 pm on May 20th, 2012
Rebecca — great news; you can help us with car shopping anytime you want.
Gus & Boo Bear — regarding last night’s questions about antique quilts, please have your mom send us a message on SDD with a bit more information and my mom should be able to help her out. If for any reason you do not have our SDD, it should be available on Dishlickers as well.
Natasha. Just one word re ballet and opera over baseball. NYET
Wookie

SiberH!…Can we star directly at the eclipse or do we need a special thingy-maw-do?…grunt!
9:25 pm on May 20th, 2012
NO, Rio DO NOT LOOK at it directly. You have to have those special glasses.
9:39 pm on May 20th, 2012
The sun is gone. The little remaining light is so neat and different than a sunrise or sunset.
9:50 pm on May 20th, 2012
Oley, We had a Berk pork chop and some fresh picked spinach tonight. You get so spoiled when you pick it and walk it straight to the kitchen (spinach, not the piggy). Excellent!
Staff, we have brined pork and a turkey but never a chicken. How was it? Give us details, please.
Rio, What do you do with the chili peppers? Do you dry them?
Melanie, that vacation spot looks wonderful and romantic. Did you not tell us because it is called Secrets Resort? Or were you afraid we might blurr over there?
We are going to go chill on the sofa and watch a little tv. Night all.
9:51 pm on May 20th, 2012
Yippee!…We survived the Eclipse…snort!…Beau thought the world was coming to and end and got all scared…sniff!…But we made it! We survived. Is anyone else out there?…wuffle!

Dinner & A Movie. What a great time we all had yesterday! Thank you Rose and Prof.
Howlers: Sorry to hear your aunt went into hospital. We will say a special prayer for her.
Rio: It will be very hard to decide which one to buy. They are all incredible. Love the little verses she added to each one.
Off to check on Melanie’s Honeymooners link.

Barb, People roast the chili, peel them, and then freeze them.
10:00 pm on May 20th, 2012
May I point out that I just gave a recipe. ha
10:19 pm on May 20th, 2012
Wookie, Mom will do that sometime soon. She will take pictures and send them as an attachment. When Mom and her sisters were cleaning out Grandma’s house, they kept uncovering quilts in all different places so Mom, her 2 sisters and her brother each got to keep a couple of them. But her knowledge about them and quilts in general is very limited. She just knows she likes them.
SiberH (or SiberRambo): we are feeling a little bad for The Hot One. Bet she is feeling like she was ditched by you. And Natasha has to be a least a foot taller than you. We say strip off that collar and say NO to ballet and tights. We don’t want you to end up the Brad Pitt of this blog…just following around that wrong woman!!
10:23 pm on May 20th, 2012
SiberH!…Someone upstairs wants to know when you will be leaving?…chuffle!
10:24 pm on May 20th, 2012
Staff: We are not one of the well known teams, so I’m not surprised that the women hadn’t heart of AJ. If they were race fans then they probably would know him by name. Was it Sylvia’s Quilt Shop?
10:27 pm on May 20th, 2012
Back!…My friend must have hurt her back moving that damned old table out to the curb…grunt!…She’s been walkng around all bent over and moving very slowly…sniff!…She wants SiberH out of her favorite chair so she can put the heating pad behind her and watch some tv…wuffle!
10:31 pm on May 20th, 2012
Rio: Ugh! Back problems are the worst. Please make sure your friend rests and takes it easy.
Wigglebutt, Wolfie: Your handsome mug is up top.
10:33 pm on May 20th, 2012
Howlers: Please check your SDD.
10:40 pm on May 20th, 2012
Rebecca!…The good news is someone thinks she might need to stay home from the busy place tomorrow unless her back magically gets better over night…snort!
10:45 pm on May 20th, 2012
Gus&BooBear, The Hot One knows how hard I am trying to get out of this. The Hot One knows Natasha has gone off her noodle.
Brad Pitt…gasp…That is a waking nightmare.
Rio, I will leave tomorrow. I will go stay on Dawson’s back or front porch if she has one. You and Beau will miss me.
10:47 pm on May 20th, 2012
Hi y’all,
We are back from internet heck. We have not had connection since Friday. They thought that it was the modem, so the “over-nighted” a new one, but then we had to wait til late in the day for them to remotely turn it on. When they did, nothing happened, so the scary looking guy came out this pm and found that someone had messed with the box at the end of the street. grump. But anyway, he fixed it and mom did a happy dance so all is well.
So congrats for all the good stuff that happened while we were away and our concern for all the not so good. We think that we may be just a little bit addicted to the internet, just a little.
10:50 pm on May 20th, 2012
Rio, Your friends quilling is beautiful. Are those gold beads on the background? Love the little pearl ‘eggs’ in the nest.
Rebecca,Yes! It was Sylvia’s Quilt Shop! Heh, Good one Rebecca.
Gus and BooBear. Are the quilts pieced by hand or machine? Is the stitching holding the batting, backing and quilt top together done by hand or machine? Are the quilts faded, torn or spotted? Is the batting smooth or lumpy? Those are some questions to be answered and sent with your pictures to Wookie’s Mom. I am not a person who would know value so hopefully Debbie LM will have answers for you.
10:50 pm on May 20th, 2012
SiberH!…Its not me who wants you to leave…sniff!…Its my friend. She wants her good chair back and you can’t deny the fact that you’ve been hogging it…heh!…Plus, you stay in the bathroom way too long putting on your mascara in the mornings…sniff!…That is getting on her nerves too…wuffle!
10:54 pm on May 20th, 2012
Staff: I drive by the quilt shop several times a week. It was a wild, but a lucky guess.
Macy: Welcome back! I don’t know that I’m addicted to the internet so much as I’m addicted to this here blog.
Rio: I forgot to give my compliments on your latest creation! Beau-tiful!
11:02 pm on May 20th, 2012
Glad you are back with us Macy.
I’m turning in now because I want to get an early start for heading North. I’ll visit Dawson’s house, the team on the glacier, and AJ and Rebecca. By the time I get to CHarris’s house, she will be back from her trip.
Gee, look at all these people and dogs I now know who live in the North.
night all
