TV and the Nation Within
Kind of long, perhaps, but this quote jumps out: “It takes all types of dogs to make the world go round.” Sums up a lot!

Morning everyone. First? Woo hoo
8:45 am on January 12th, 2015
Morning T&G and everyone.
8:52 am on January 12th, 2015
Good morning T&G and B’sB and everyone! Rainy here and foggy so we will have a mouldy Monday 🙂
9:05 am on January 12th, 2015
aaaajust checkedthe Coopper Basin tracker. Looks like 3 mushers have scratched but Phillip is currently at the Sourdough Checkpiont. GO!
9:16 am on January 12th, 2015
Good morning. T.V.? Nah, we got better things to do. Like right now, Zeus is busy eating the squirrel he caught for second breakfast, and we girls are busy looking for our own squirrel. If one came by, surely the rest will come to this exact same spot, right?
Mom is being a weenie, and working at home for the time being. It is icy here, so she plans to drive the Sibaroo in a bit later.
9:18 am on January 12th, 2015
Good morning all. Interesting article. One mistake though – The writer said “herding breeds, such as terriers”. That is wrong. Terriers are a breed group and herding dogs are a different group.
9:23 am on January 12th, 2015
Terriers? Herding? We think not!
Lots of snow here and wouldn’t you know it, today Mama has a mandatory appointment an hour away. Yeep! Hopefully the highway looks better than this street.
9:30 am on January 12th, 2015
T&G, tell your mama to travel safely. We can come sit around her for extra help if she wants 🙂
9:47 am on January 12th, 2015
Greetings!
It is a snow, sleet, rainy kind of day here.
Beau: Lo siento. I wanted your team to win too. Something tells me I will be doing a lot of praying for the Yankees this year…
MPM: Rex Ryan? I don’t mean to laugh, but…
Royal Mum, Rio’s friend, and anyone else who is out there driving today, please be careful.
I wonder if my VBFF might be able to blur over with her glue gun and sparkles, and help me decorate Grizz’s birthday presents…
10:05 am on January 12th, 2015
Wose, Is today the long anticipated day? Then we say…
Whoo hoo, yodel, howl to Grizz.
10:07 am on January 12th, 2015
Interesting article. (I could have done without the pictures of the spider and snakes.)
Good morning all.
10:07 am on January 12th, 2015
Happy Birthday, Grizz!
10:34 am on January 12th, 2015
For he’s a jolly good fellow
For he’s a jolly good fellow
For he’s a jolly good fellow….
And nobody can deny.
Happy Birthday to the Grizz!
10:51 am on January 12th, 2015
Happy birthday to my friend the Prof!
I’ll blur over later to celebrate.
11:14 am on January 12th, 2015
If there are Photos of Snakes, I am not reading that article.
No, I am Not.
Happy Birthday, Grizz, and Many More!!
(whispering) Wose, What wonderful things did you get him?
Fun Fact of the Day:
The Chicken is the closest living relative of the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Fern: Quite the Amazing Ancestry You Have!
11:29 am on January 12th, 2015
I go way back, Bear.
11:39 am on January 12th, 2015
Thank youse all for the birthday wishes for the Prof/Grizz. His birthday is actually on Friday. He will be turning the big 5-8.
Carvel ice cream cake will be involved, and
11:46 am on January 12th, 2015
Oooops, hit the wrong button.
In addition to ice cream cake, one of the birthday traditions in this here house involves me singing “Happy Birthday” (very badly)to him.
BSD: (whispering) Since funds in this house are non-existent at the moment (Grizz will be back in Prof mode next week), the Prof will be getting a new Perry Ellis wallet (1/2 price at an after Christmas sale), and the book “Thinking, Fast and Slow.”
A home-cooked birthday dinner may be involved.
12:13 pm on January 12th, 2015
Good Morning, All! We just had a very wet weekend, and I can tell you, mom is getting very tired of the rain. She spent most of the weekend “undecorating” the house and putting up Christmas items. Still have the tree to take down and things to get put into the attic. Always kind of a sad time since we LOVE Christmas, but it is fun to get the house back to a very neat look.
Maggie, tell Barb that Mom took a picture of the mantle without all the extras added to the garland. She will send it to her tonight. You can really tell the difference.
Mom still has to catch up on blog reading to make sure she didn’t miss too much.
12:28 pm on January 12th, 2015
The pictures of snakes and spider are in the right margin and are not part of the article.
12:30 pm on January 12th, 2015
BooBear, house to a neat look? Does that include leaves and large balls of animal hair? If so, we must be twins! We think that’s neat, mom says it is messy.
12:34 pm on January 12th, 2015
Just checked the race stats. Phillip is passind Boulder Lake now and heading towards Middle Lake. If you enlarge the maps, the lake and river names appear.
1:06 pm on January 12th, 2015
Dear Diary,
It is o.k. to kill fuzzbutts. But never ever eat them. And if you do, be sure to clean up the mess before Mom sees it.
1:22 pm on January 12th, 2015
Zeusikov, you are making me laugh.
BooBear, we here just put away our Christmas tree. We always feel sad to take down the tree and decorations too.
Thinking on Wolfie…
1:48 pm on January 12th, 2015
Zeus, we think the sushi taste better than the fuzzbutts, but it is okay to baste them really well.
1:50 pm on January 12th, 2015
Zeus, I never ever try to eat a rat or a squirrel. But I did go out and sit next to mine every time I went outside, before party pooper Barb took it away. I think it was because I got into a fight with my pal Lucy when she tried to sniff it. Yep, you guessed it, I ended up in the dog house again.
Boobear, tell your mama I will have Barb check her SDD later.
Bear, we knew that interesting fact about chickens. They are mini T-Rexes. That’s why it is so silly that egg companies advertise strictly vegetarian diets for their hens. Chickens are NOT vegetarians, they are omnivores!
1:58 pm on January 12th, 2015
BooBear, please post the picture of the mantle. I want to see it too.
Wose, happy birthday to Grizz. You’re cracking me up about my Rex Ryan news. That is a step up for the Buffalo Bills!
2:24 pm on January 12th, 2015
Maggie, between you and me and the fence post, Meashka did warn me. She had a memory of Sasha puking up baby groundhogs all over Pop while he was in bed sleeping.
2:26 pm on January 12th, 2015
Wow, Phillip is around Middle Lake and half way across Fish Lake. On the ICE, go doggies, be safe.
2:29 pm on January 12th, 2015
Zeus, what a great story. Wonder if we can get Blondie to do that with mom? She’d love it! She even touches snaked but days she draws the line at spiders. Who would want to draw something at a spider? Sheesh.
3:31 pm on January 12th, 2015
Did Philip pass all those mushers???? !!!!!
4:08 pm on January 12th, 2015
OH, there are 7 teams behind Phillip. Allen Moore is leading and about to do the final leg nack to Glennallan. Looks like Phillip is heading for the last checkpoint.
4:50 pm on January 12th, 2015
Good afternoon, All–for those of you tired of rain, I’m trying to sympathize, but since it’s a needed rarity in these parts, I am having limited success.
Wose, please extend my birthday wishes as well. Your presence will make the day special, gifts, dinners, or whatever are just gravy…
Boobear–If it will comfort your Mom, please let her know that I’m still taking stuff down. No biggie. Still winter.
I was initially confused about the references to “fuzzbutts” until I read further. Now I’m sorry I did so.
Off to the gym…
4:53 pm on January 12th, 2015
…plus a belated greeting to Jenna.
(Whispering) When is football season over?
4:57 pm on January 12th, 2015
Diane: On February 1st is the Big Finale…The Superbowl.
4:58 pm on January 12th, 2015
And then we move on to baseball. Heh, heh.
5:12 pm on January 12th, 2015
Still taking stuff down here too, but at least this year (since we seem to have lots of company) We Aren’t Obsessing about it.
5:19 pm on January 12th, 2015
Tonight is the big NCAA football championship. The first one in the new playoffs.
5:19 pm on January 12th, 2015
Allan Moore, Ray Redington, Jr and Nicolas Petit are in first, second and third at the Copper Basin 300 and the leader is about 10 miles from the finish! Philip is in the middle back of the pack somewhere and it does seem as if he has passed a few mushers. Go Snowhook Doggies! Also from the speed charts it looks like he stops often to make sure the dogs are all right. Go Philip!
The squirrel new is turning my stomach. Bleeech! Glad I don’t have to pick up the remains.
5:25 pm on January 12th, 2015
Aliy is in fifth. Speaks volume for their kennel, to come in first and fifth.
Mom’s tummy is still churning, believe us. Zeus thinks Maggie is very lucky to have a doghouse, and wonders if she has room for him. Heh!
They are livestreaming the finish!
5:30 pm on January 12th, 2015
Go Aliy! Their kennel must be amazing.
Nicolas Petit just passed Ray Redington Jr for second! Allen Moore is at mile 297 ish and Nicolas Petit at 293 ish. I don’t think Nicolas can catch Allan with only 7 ish miles to go.
5:32 pm on January 12th, 2015

Live streaming, I hope.
5:44 pm on January 12th, 2015
Dawson, our tracker shows RR only a half-mile behind Allen, and going much faster.
Go Allen!!!!
5:49 pm on January 12th, 2015
MPM. When you have a chance can you send us your new mailing address on our SDD? Today in the mail we received your returned Christmas card, which was mailed out in early December. And just remind us which is the correct last name – the R one or the D one? I remember that you did a change a while back.
5:51 pm on January 12th, 2015
Allen Moore, but Ray Reddington finished right after.
5:51 pm on January 12th, 2015
Who won the Race? Damit.
5:52 pm on January 12th, 2015
Gah. Sorry Dawson. We Forgot to Refresh. Again!
5:58 pm on January 12th, 2015
O’Howlers: It is interesting that You Answered Our Question at the same time we asked it!
6:05 pm on January 12th, 2015
MPM, Thanks, got it!
6:30 pm on January 12th, 2015
MPM, Thinking of you as I watch the news and the Rex Ryan story. If he is a step up, well, I’m still laughing.
6:44 pm on January 12th, 2015
We are just catching up here as Mama has been gone most of the day. She slip slided her way to her appointment this morning, and then when she was coming home this afternoon, the precipitation had changed to ice – made for lots of fun driving over the mountain, so she drove reeeeeaaaalllll slow – which as Rebecca can tell you is a rare occasion.
Rose – we just remembered that Grizz and the Storyteller are twins. Well, maybe different years, but at least the same day. We are thinking of a small surprise party at the Storyteller’s favorite sushi restaurant.
Zeus – you inspired us with your fuzzbutt story. In your honor, we have chased down and massacred a mouse in the house. Those stupid Wrotten Kats just sat back and watched us. harrumph..
6:45 pm on January 12th, 2015
Wose, next they need a quarterback. He quit along with the coach.
6:59 pm on January 12th, 2015
MPM, Re-checked the envelope. It was sent to JRD. Shoulda left off the D!
7:05 pm on January 12th, 2015
Does anyone else like Major Crimes? Season 3 finale is on tonight. We love that show.
Rio, your fav. Kevin Spacey had to be bleeped when he did his acceptance speech last night. It was funny.
7:23 pm on January 12th, 2015
Happy birthday to both Storyteller and Grizz!+
7:52 pm on January 12th, 2015
Royals: Happy Birthday to the Storyteller!
8:02 pm on January 12th, 2015
Happy Birthday to The Storyteller too. Both on Friday, right?
9:36 pm on January 12th, 2015
Beau!…Because of Beau and his new found love of football in his new(ish) home we are sad today….snuff!…He has learned that the Coach has been booted out into the cold and his most favorite quarterback is being flippsy-floppsy about staying with the team…sniff!…We have been trying to console him today, but he is beyond consolation…wuffle!…He has not eaten. And he will not pray. We are all beside ourselves….sniff!
9:37 pm on January 12th, 2015
Here are some pictures from Facebookie of Phillip and the Snowhook dogs at Meier Lake checkpoint

9:38 pm on January 12th, 2015
here is the second pic

I like this one the best.
9:39 pm on January 12th, 2015
Rio, If he goes into the closet and won’t come out youf friend must bring him treats and hand feed him. Don’t get jealous…
9:46 pm on January 12th, 2015
Phil!….Looks like he is caring for the Snowhook dawgs…sniff!…This makes me very happy. I am hoping they are all having a swell time out there on the trail!…chuffle!
9:47 pm on January 12th, 2015
Not praying? This is serious!
9:55 pm on January 12th, 2015
Reading the blog tonight made me go *thunk*. Luckily, I don’t have far to fall. Annie is in charge of all fuzzbutt activity around here. She sends kudos to Zeus. I will give those pests a good talking to, but that is it.
WTG Royals, especially since you have kats who are supposed to take care of those things. Lazy beasts.
Nite, all. Go Dawgs go (and Phillip)
10:08 pm on January 12th, 2015
Home sweet home from FBX. Long drive, some parts of the road were icy but I was careful–unlike 4 cars who went off a road south of Willow on a curve. I am guessing one car spun out and the others went off the road trying to avoid an accident. Three troopers and an ambulance on hand.
Saw 3 moose on the way. Sadie a happy dog as is the mama cat who was spayed today. All her kittens have been adopted so she can leave motherhood behind. She was purring when I picked her up (I think it was the pain killers she was on).
Housesitter forgot to set out my trash bin which was chock full of trash/litter and empty boxes from Christmas and empty cartons from new flooring. The housesitter lives next door so it is not like she was unaware of setting out the trash (in addition to me telling her). Oh well.
Oodles of noodles to all…Oh…In Willow I stopped at the library and bought raffle tickets with Justin’s name on them. Heh. Drawing is Feb 8. Pawsitive thoughts!
10:26 pm on January 12th, 2015
Hobbit – good for you on all counts. Well, not the forgotten trash but for everything else.
We admit, we have been very busy and not online much. Can someone tell us how far the finish line is from where Snowhook II is currently?
10:27 pm on January 12th, 2015
Glad all are home. Nighty night.
10:29 pm on January 12th, 2015
CHobbit!…We here were all thinking of you today, knowing you were traveling for hours and hours….snort!…It is sooooo very good to hear you have arrived safely and most soundly home again…chuffle!…Does my pug-heart glad!…woooooo!
10:30 pm on January 12th, 2015
CHobiit, where were the moose on the way to?
10:34 pm on January 12th, 2015
Barb!…Yes, it is most serious…sniff!…Beau has fallen into the Winter-Football-Gloomy-Sad-Unhopeful-Depression…sniff!…It is common here in our state. Most of us are used to disappointment, but there are always the few who have the hardest time accepting reality…snuffle!…Beau will be okay come Spring Time…grunt!…If that time ever comes.
10:52 pm on January 12th, 2015
T&G: Philip is still about 100 miles away from the finish line.
I’m glad all those having to drive on icy roads are home safe.
Beau: Reality bites!
11:25 pm on January 12th, 2015
Beau, Just hang on for 10 weeks…70 short days. All will be better. Night all.
10:43 am on January 13th, 2015
Roz used to eat voles she would catch. We never told Melanie
