Good morning and Happy Egg Day!
We wish we could see Spencer’s panels. They sound interesting and fun. Any chance we can watch online?
HOH, is your traveling Maw home yet? If so, you better sit on her or she is liable to take off again.

I think Spence should take a balloon ride over Tucson. (The balloons gliding in the air are beautiful to see but I probably wouldn’t want to go in one.)

    Good morning all.

We P I Gs got here last night and the Three Little ones went off on the train. I was sad to see them go, but I have to tell you, they are exhausting.

It was a sad time but being with Golinka and the Storyteller for moral support was important.

Rio was pretty well-behaved most of the time. I’m so sorry that Loulou attacked him like that. I don’t know what he did that provoked such a vicious attack from my sweet puppy.

I hope Spence gets to take a hot air balloon ride. I notice he mentioned they were free.

Loulou didn’t do anything that I wouldn’t do. The real, live, Rio would be safe in my house, but mom would put the stuffed Rio on the top shelf.

BSD: Tell Nana I will email her when I am home and have that information at hand.

We had a crappy trip overnight from Buffalo to Chicago.because some of the toilets were frozen, including the ones in our sleeping cars. Ugh! Now I know how Rio feels when he is asking to get out! Out! Out! When we rode the rails on that leg of the trip out to Buffalo it was the best. Glad to get off that train and into the nice clean Metropolitan Lounge.

What a great trip meeting and greeting our old friends that we never met before. I hope everyone is recovering from all the excitement and feeling tip top soon, especially Leonard, Amalia and MP and Loulou’s Mom. Staff and I will be having a day of rest tomorrow, assuming we make it home.

Congratulations to all the Mushers who finished the Iditarod. I am glad they all made it off the ice.

I’m glad Rio made it home too. pretty sure I pulled a muscle carting him around, not to mention all the extra “heavy” baggage charges.

    We are off!

    2:16 pm on March 16th, 2014

Greetings all. It has been a very full couple of weeks. But we are so glad the P I G ‘s were here with Mama and The Storyteller. It got her through the hardest part.
And we filled the days with butterflies and laughter and tears and jokes and memories.
We want them all to come back. Callie just adored MollyPop’s Mom. Sage thought Staff was the Kat’s Meow and played the best game of Catch The String, we think Gramp has a little bitty crush on Barb, and even Basil the Official Chicken Kat came out to be petted and admired.
(Mama explained that we had Smart and Beautiful Kats…and Sage was Smart, so Basil was Beautiful, but not the brightest tube in the neon sign)
We are going to take the HOH Mom to the airport in a little bit, and then we will be left all alone with no one (except Mama and Gramp) to pet us, and no one (except Mama and Gramp) to feed us, and no one (except Mama and Gramp) to let us OUT OUT OUT!
That’s cuz the Storyteller decided he needed a little time at Club Med. He will be fine – he tends to develop pneumonia very quickly, and came down with that, but he is already on the mend, and doing 90% better. He is well enough to be complaining about the hospital food and terrible day time tv, so we know he will be just fine. Plus, he will be home tomorrow.
Thanks so much to the travelers who came here. Thanks so much for all of you who sent prayers and support. Thanks for being our family.

The second panel in Tuscon is quite impressive, as all three participants (OFA included) have previously won Edgars.

Also, we were at a book sale by one of the local high schools today (a bag of books is $10.00), so Debbie and I went wild. The biggest problem at such an event of course is categorization, with so many books, many wind up in the wrong categories. As an example of that, Debbie found a copy of TDWKTM in with the dog training books. She did recommend it to someone else who immediately scooped it up.

Barb is finally back home and she is one worn out lady. Dawson already told you about the train being late and having no bathrooms in our sleeper cars. Other than that snafoo, it was mostly smooth sailing. She had a wonderful time, and totally enjoyed meeting a delightful bunch of Plunderers.

Dawson and Staff walked her several long blocks from one train station to the other this afternoon. Not only did she appreciate their navigational skills, but Dawson pulled the suitcases for her, too. Then they walked her right to the train before leaving to walk back to catch their train. That was special.

Amalia and Leonard are the best hosts ever, serving an suburb meal on Thursday in their beautifully redone kitchen and dining room, and taking us to the Butterfly gardens on Friday. I think that was the highlight of the trip for all involved. We were able to find a perfect spot for a prayer circle to honor Our Friend before we left the butterflies.

Barb said she thought Gramps was pretty cute too. If she lived closer, she would probably be thinking of some way to invite him over for dinner (not that he doesn’t enjoy fine dining at home anyway). Giggle, blush.

Barb returned to find a lot less snow on the ground than when she left. We can actually see grass in some areas now. Wonderful! Maybe spring really will arrive soon.

This is simply too adorable to pass up. Zeta’s mom and dad have made another video (in the form of a movie trailer) called: Puppy Love — Princess Zeta and her Prince Teddy. It is just so cute, and does a wonderful job of capturing the budding romance between Zeta and Teddy.

Maggie, it sounds like Barb had a great trip, and bonded with other Plunderers. That was a great trip review you wrote.
Please tell her that Isabel climbed out of her nest box and is back to her old personable self. Mom is so glad.
We have been reading about controversy between Hugh Neff and ITC. From the outside looking in, we are inclined to agree with Sebastian that he made a bad choice.

Awww – Teddy is a very cute co-star

Bee – thank you for the suggestion, but he has had pnuemonia shots. There are two kinds of pneumonia; bacterial and viral. The shot protects against one and he gets the other type because of scar tissue etc in his lungs. As long as we catch it in time, he is ok. And we caught this one early.

Well, we have sent our last P I G packing. Time to start planning the next Plunder Convention….

Golinka dropped me at the airport (ouch) at 4:55. At 5:07 I was through sescurity and on the concourse for a 7:15 flight. Miss my Herd and even the Daddy Dawg. PIGs, thank y’all for a great Plunderfest east. In the Seavey interview I saw this A.M., he looked like the loser in a brawl. So glad AJ is okay and her and Rebecca are together again. With Snowhook dogs, they are a great team.
Getting back to “Rocky Top” around midnight so will talk with y’all tomorrow.
Sleep tight, Rio. Thanks Wrotten Kats, T&G, Callie, Gramps, Storyteller and Golinka.

We just looked up the butterfly in Animal Speak, but Ted Andrews. He says the butterfly is a symbol of change, joy and color. The butterfly reminds us that life is a dance, and awakens a sense of lightness and joy. And isn’t Our Friend now dancing amongst the stars?

But I think it helped her during some really sad spots…sniffle!…I know I have enjoyed the Cinnamon Rolls and the German Sausage, and Great Grandma’s Case Noodle…wheeze!…Of course her brother decided this was the day he would finally visit after not seeing him since Christmas…grump!…Wiped out some cinnamon rolls, sausage and of course the case noodle all in in sitting…wheeze!…What – The – Hell!….gurgle!

These Zeta & Teddy Trailers are GREAT! Those 2 are natural born stars.
Will this budding puppy love turn out to be one of the great romances like Gable and Lombard? How can it not!
Barb: Loved your account of the trip. Judging from all the reports it sounds like Plunderfest East was a huge success and the P.I.G.s had a great time.
Golinka: Hugs to the Storyteller and you from us.
HOH’s Mom is on the first leg of her journey back to the Herd & D. Daddy Dawg. Hoping for a smooth flight home.

We here are curious about the fate of that last rookie on the trail between Elim and White Mountain…Elliot Anderson.
Did he scratch voluntarily or was he told to scratch because he was too far behind?
Seems we read somewhere that the race officials can pull a team from the race if the last one out is too far behind.

  39. Siber-H
    7:24 pm on March 16th, 2014

I have read the reason the Iditarod officials may sort of force someone that is lagging way behind to scratch is because the volunteers at the checkpoints (vets, ect.) have to go home and return to their normal lives.
    That is their story, anyway.

Masquers, I do not know about Elliot Anderson. We may never know unless the musher speaks out about the reason. I have never known the Iditarod officials to talk about it.

You know, we could even get to like those otter corks if they are all as cute as that picture.

The Wrotten Kats are rampaging through the living room. We think they are disappointed that there are no P I G’s to play with.

Barb and MPsM – we are glad you are home safe but we are even more glad that you came out here. By tomorrow, everyone should be home from the East. Wonder when AJ and the Pixie will get home.

Greetings, I am not sure if it is day or night. It is dark.

Another fun packed day at the Most Expensive Hotel in Bedford. Nothing new to report. Not much can be done until the blood clots are dealt with. We had several visitors today, and although he said that he did not want to see anyone, he really seemed to be happy they came.

It would be very nice if Certain Canines would not make messes for me to clean up when I get home every night. I haven’t evened unzipped my suitcases yet, but will have to tomorrow if I want to wear clothes.\
