Totally Hip

“Hear you got a new hip on Tuesday,” Spence says.

“Was it that noisy?” say Admin.

“How do you feel?”

“No complaints.”

“Can I play with your crutches?”

No reply.

Good morning, everyone! Hey OFA, if the hipster is true, HEAL, move and follow directions. Great post from AJ at the end of yesterday’s blog. sniff, sniff.
Friday? Already? We may have some down hours here this afternoon as mom decided to put U verse on the phones, etc.
Have a frisky Friday and kick up your heels (except for Spence).

Good morning. A new hip? Wow, that is not a small deal, but we know many people who have had that recently, and they all seem to heal quickly and better than ever. Best of luck, Admin.

AJ, we appreciate your posts. Now, can you encourage Philip to come on this here blog and tell us details of his race, along with telling us about each dog on his team for that race?

What? A hip replacement, out of the clear blue? Is that for real? Admin is sorta young for that isn’t he? If so, remember p.t. is really important.

Morning all. Mild and quiet here today, high of 30, no snow in forecast.

We always suspected that you were totally hip, Admin. Good for you!

Cloudy and dreary here as usual, but 24 degrees ABOVE zero. Won’t complain about that!

Back to read AJ’s post from last night.

    Good morning all.

Good Morning All–Still chilly here, but I, for one, am champing at the bit to tackle some challenges.

Just read AJ’s recent post–Aww…it sounds like Twig wants to do it with his Team, so maybe she does have another one in her.
On an unrelated topic (of which everyone has probably by now had enough): Aren’t mules neuter animals (as in neither male nor female)? If so, why is it “I’ve got a mule and her name is Sal”?
wouldn’t “I’ve got a mule and his name is Cal” work just as well?
Hmmm…too much time on my hands and brain–time to accomplish something, whether it needs it or not…

Morning all. Love the story about Twig. Especially the part about “strong female leadership”. You betcha!

OFA told us about the upcoming hip upgrade in July. Said he was still playing tennis, even though his hip was bone on bone. Owie! He postponed the surgery from September. Something about a book tour and remaining tennis weather.

With AJ’s tantalizing tidbits on training, we are starting to waver on buying into the Insider. Watching that little flag move from checkpoint to checkpoint….

But then again, Mama is going to be going home for most of Iditarod time, and will be in and out of Internet connection. We may just have to depend on youse guys for the news.

Diane, Mules are a cross between Horse and donkey and are biologically sterile. They are sexed and the males are “jacks” and the females are “jennys”, they just don’t get to make “little Johnnys” together 🙂

HOH is not totally correct on the mule question. A mule is a hybrid cross between a male donkey (Jack) and a female horse (mare). If the cross is the opposite – male horse (stallion)and female donkey (jenny), the offspring is a hinney. A mule still is sexed male or female, but almost always sterile (due to different chromosomes). A female mule, usually called a mare mule, still comes into heat and a few have carried a foal. These fertile mare mules are called a molly mule. There has never been a male mule (sometimes called a john) that has been fertile. They still need to be gelded or they will have stallion characteristic, and will not be as docile.

A mule is more popular than a hinney, and is stronger, smarter, and has more endurance.

HOH, you are correcto! I think it is because horses have 64 chromosomes and donkeys have 62. So mules end up with 63, which affects their fertility. Mr. Mules are willing and able, they just shoot blanks. Poor guys!

I may have to wait until I visit Minneapolis again to make your friend’s green chile recipe.

Hip replacement surgery is definitely major surgery but I believe the best results are achieved if you start moving right away.
