Dan’s new bed arrived today. He will be downstairs from now on. An aide will come twice a week to get him upstairs to shower. Hope they send a BIG STRONG person.
Tomorrow, the house guys come and finish where Dan’s bed is. They took out a window because of ice dams and they will be putting in insulation and wall board.
They are also replacing the door from the kitchen area into the stockade.

Yes, this is our big day to meet Spence. Maggie has to stay home, but there is some talk of trying to sneak Peaches in. If not, she and Maggie will both be there is spirit. Barb, Kelly, Baye and Lily will be there for sure.

I’m twirling, I’m twirling!!! Nana met Spence in person last night! She says his talk was fabulous and it was like meeting and talking with an old friend. He spoke of the Plunderers, the Quilt, Snowhook Kennel, AJ, Rebecca and the Iditarod…And, of course, AFOC and the Chet and Bernie Mysteries. He also expressed his sincere appreciation for those that travel to see him on his book tours.
All we can say is…we wouldn’t have missed this for the world!

Everyone said Spence’s face lit up when he saw the Plunderer name tags. I do think it is almost as great a thrill for him to be meeting the Plunderers on his road trip as it is for us to be meeting him. OFA is not only a great writer but an amazing person as well.

We met Spencer in Seattle on the 18th at the NE library branch. He is a terrific speaker and it was uncanny, how like Chet he was in his enthusiasm and switching gears and dropping thoughts, but making it all fit together into a fabulous and coherent story of who he is and how he writes. He posed with my pug dog Eddie and my son Spencer.

AJ left this morning to travel to Juneau to pick up the team. The weather is awful. High winds and standing rain were difficult enough in a regular car let alone a dog truck pulling a trailer. He is trying to keep me posted as he makes each milestone of his journey for as long as he has cell coverage which he will lose in Canada. Tenzing is the co-pilot. AJ packed a cooler of snacks for himself on the journey and Tenzing also has his own stash of snacks primarily made of Slim Jims.
