Spence – now phoneless – will be at the Tattered Cover in Denver at 7 (2526 East Colfax). Thanks to Barbara Peters and everyone at the Poisoned Pen for an excellent time last night.

Good morning. Spence is phoneless? Oh no! What happened to his phone?!!

Good morning Howler’s and all. We too wondered about the phoneless. Lost? Stolen? No charger? Poor Spence. Hope last night’s zucchini issue got resolved tastefully. We can’t believe it is Friday so soon. Today and 2 more and OFA’s tour is done. Does that mean he gets to visit the west coast family. Hope so.
One and all, have a fun and fruitful Friday ????

Good morning all. Yesterday the zucchini side dish was a huge hit–nary a left over. So now I have a new recipe in my diet. I had added from fresh corn to the dish since I thought that some people wouldn’t have been so keen on just cooked zucchini.

I have returned from dropping my guests off at the airport for their flight to Juneau. One couple was from Colorado and one from Michigan. They were delightful but the one odd thing was that they are the first guests/visitors in entire my life who didn’t say one word about all the artwork and quilted pieces on my walls. Zero curiosity, no wandering from room to room. Those of you who have been at the Hobbit Hotel know that art is the defining element in my house with a huge collection of Alaskan art and artifacts.

As I dropped them off at the airport, I heard the words, “hostess with the mostess.” Heh.

Maybe Spence needs a Plunderer escort while he’s on book tour, to keep the phone-stealing Marauding Goats at bay.

    Enjoy your weekend all.

Hobbit, doesn’t it seem strange when people have nada, zip, zero curiosity about art and artifacts that the hostess obviously cares about? I think they must tackle the world with blinders on and they miss so much beauty. I have witnessed the same, however, and often folks that take pride in the milage of their hikes but never see the wild flowers or strange fungi or little creatures along their pathways.

I had guests(lovely people) just yesterday afternoon and evening who seemed not to see the wonoderful oil paintings I have done by a close friend, much less my beloved pottery! As for me, I am curious and ever delighted to take in everything…..sometimes I even take in things I wish I never ever saw!

    Happy Friday, Chetsters!

    Phoneless!? How annoying.

I love all the names of the bookstores Spencer visits.

CHobbit: Rather amazing, that. Seeing as how the artwork in your home reaches out and slaps you in the face! Then the other cheek! Again and again everywhere you look, every time you turn a corner or enter a new room.

Did Mr. Big behave himself while your visitors were there?

    Zeus: Great family!

Zeus, we loved you family album, nice job. As to CHobbit’s “blind” visitors and ALR’s “goal only to heck with the interesting bits of life”, our mom has a name for that: HUA syndrome.*

Greetings all, from the Beautiful Blue Hydrangea Hotspot.

We got Soooooo lost getting here. There is one tricky highway intersection, and our GPS had a nervous breakdown. She kept insisting that we turn left now – ON THE HIGHWAY! Then she wanted us to do a u turn – on an 8 lane highway in the middle of the city.

We spent a half hour cruising surface streets, seeing the highway we needed, but unable to get to it.

Finally made it, got to the show grounds and got set up. Loaded and ready for bear! Or rich tourists. Whichever comes first.

Hobbit – we would LOVE to see your art collection. We know what great sense of color and style you have, your Alaska art must be spectacular.

Zeus – we love your take on the Husky family. Heh heh.

    Where are all those avatars?

Hobbit, I have had the same experience and it seems so weird to me, too. I had a lady walk thru my home and all she said in each room was uh-huh. I assume that means she didn’t like what she saw.

I know you have beautiful art work, as I have seen pictures of your home. I guess some people are just oblivious to their environments.

HI all. A Catty and I have had leftovers on her little slab of cement porch. Elliot is on the grass standing guard. We have my new windchimes up and they sound great.

Now I have to go and catch up with the last few days of the blog.

    Found it!

Hobbit, while I personally have yet to see your home, I have it on good authority that the artwork is amazing, fitting, Alaskan, beautiful and most of all awesomely intersting. Mom says there is lovely eye candy everywhere she looked in that hotel.

Then have a yard sale with the bigger items and furniture…guffle!…Then haul away all the left-overs to ARC or the Goodwill…wheeze!…This may take a few weekends or more…but the plan will work…grunt!…It has to or else.

Tupper’s Mama: I wish you a great show.

Having an agent on this special mission and no brutal walks—this is a win-win for you, Rio. Things are coming up pug.

  40. c.hobbit
    9:36 pm on July 24th, 2015

HOH: I suffer from FSS and I fear it is incurable. I have been known to shove clutter into bags and put in closets until visits are over.

RIO: I’d have the realtor talk to your friend’s mother and explain the concept and point out the obvious stuff that needs to go. Flat spaces clear of stuff is the way to sell a house. Declutter and depersonalize. Also, rent a small storage locker for a couple of months. Fill boxes with things you are going to move but don’t need in your house for day-by-day living (books, Christmas decorations, etc). My movers packed up my house and then made a stop at my storage facility and loaded up all those boxes I’d already packed.

Realtors want less personal stuff in the house so that potential buyers can envision their own personal stuff in your space. I was lucky that my realtor let me keep the art on the walls in my old space but I did put in storage all the small artistic odds and ends and the quilted artwork that could be folded or rolled up into tubs.

As things are moved to storage and you have more space, your friend’s mom might really get into the idea of “clean living.” Having boxes of free stuff at the end of your driveway is a great idea.

  41. Wyatt
    9:42 pm on July 24th, 2015

Rio’s Friend: I think putting free stuff at the end of your driveway is a good idea, but can you do me a favor? Please make sure Rio doesn’t snuffle and wuffle a box marked ‘free’ with Beau inside to the end of the driveway. I may be a bad ass, but I can’t help love that bible quoting pug. He is my bud.

So while Mr. Big (who also responds to Fat Cat) was eating his cat kibble, I fed Sadie chunks of leftover baked chicken. Just as Sadie was going to eat, Mr. Big marched determinedly over and they went nose to nose over the chicken. Sadie made the briefest and softest growl I’ve ever hear and Mr. Big backed off. Let’s see if Sadie’s new found power goes to her head.

Mr. Big did ok with the guests with the exception of the “incident of the dining room table.” He made himself scare a lot but did allow himself to be petted. The cat person in the group had never seen or felt a “lion’s cut” and was surprised how velvety it was. Their senior cat died and because they are in the phase of traveling and getting older, they (mostly the husband) have decreed no more cats or pets in their life ever.
