Today We Talk Politics
“Just kidding,” says Admin. “We’re actually talking theater – specifically NYC theater, and more specifically than that, the Drilling Company on West 78th Street.”
“Where,” says Spence, “you can see McKey Carpenter in Debt. Here he is (on the right) in performance.”

HEL-LO…..the handsome McKey Carpenter up there on top! ((sigh))
9:05 am on April 18th, 2012
Melanie: Please excuse me, but McKey is freakin’ hot. He reminds me of a young Monty Clift in this picture. Also, he seems to be the modern day Lon Chaney Sr….McKey is the man of a thousand faces. I touched the picture on the screen, and it sizzled….MUY CALIENTE!!!!! 🙂
9:15 am on April 18th, 2012
Go McKey.
Good morning all.
9:19 am on April 18th, 2012
Nice!
9:24 am on April 18th, 2012
Great shout-out to the world famous McKey! Nice hat tip from the big guys.
Good morning everyone.
Melanie, What is latest on photographer? Did they find someone? Are they going to get $$ back? I couldn’t tell from your last email if he is going to honor the refund or not.
9:34 am on April 18th, 2012
Clarkson!… Spencer actually got to meet Clarkson (and family)…heh!heh!…I wonder if he got his autograph…sniff!
9:47 am on April 18th, 2012
Moyer!….WOOOOOOOOO!…snort!….Rockies won last night and Moyer made history!…heh!heh!…Why didn’t we stay up for a while longer I ask????…sniff!
9:49 am on April 18th, 2012
WOW!!!GO MCKEY!!!YOU’RE ON TOP!!!
9:56 am on April 18th, 2012
Rio & Siber: Nice game by the old guy heh?
Alas, I didn’t see it, but WooooHooooo Moyer!
Melanie: A shout-out by Spence and Admin! What could be better.
This day is starting out with fireworks. And, let us hope…a day of nothing but good news.
10:00 am on April 18th, 2012
Yowzer!
We love, love, LOVE! Young Sucessful Actor Son. I would give an eye tooth to be able to go to NY and see him in one of these Drilling Company productions. And ditto what Rose said.
10:06 am on April 18th, 2012
Spence and Admin. What a great post for a rising theatrical star! Yeah!
Melanie — Gotta know, who was the howl?
Rose — Glad to hear you finished The Art of Fielding. Like I said before, my dad thought the ending was just terrific. Hope you continue to feel better.
Rio/SH — Yes, the old dude really did it. They are going to ship his uniform off to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Hope the Rockies give him another uniform, otherwise it could be a bit chilly out there on the mound the next time that he pitches.
Wookie
10:06 am on April 18th, 2012
Ditto Rose. Ditto Dawson.
10:13 am on April 18th, 2012
Thanks for the good thoughts, Wookie. What is your pop reading now?
10:19 am on April 18th, 2012
YSAS is so handsome and now we see he has his Mom’s curly hair.
10:30 am on April 18th, 2012
Good morning all – what a nice surprise to see that wonderful picture and mention up top! That boy truly is a looker. Did you all notice his chisled chin and jawline?
YSAS “spiritual father” wants everyone to know that he will take full credit for YSAS rugged good looks…even if they look nothing alike.
So – Melanie – have you had a lovely breakfast yet? tee hee…
10:33 am on April 18th, 2012
Rose: Right now my dad is reading a couple of books. He is still reading Winterdance and has started a new novel called The Man from Primrose Lane. Its pretty weird so far, so he is not sure if he would recommend it or not. Mom and dad are reading together (the book they read aloud at night) the latest Carolyn Hart mystery in her Death on Demand Series called Death Comes Silently. Also, they just finished reading the latest Maisie Dobbs mystery (by Jacqueline Winspear) called Elegy for Eddie, which they thought was absolutely first rate. They really love the Maisie Dobbs series a lot and would recommend it to everyone. Dad might move over to the latest Lisa Scottoline book (called Come Home) if the The Man from Primrose Lane doesn’t get better soon.
Wookie
10:34 am on April 18th, 2012
We did notice that chin and jawline, T&G. Very distinguished.
We now have our real avatar, and not the corgi avatar. We are on Mom’ big p.c.
10:38 am on April 18th, 2012
Carpola!
I cannot refresh before I post on this computer or it eats my extremely long and well-written (so I say!) post.
What was it that was so important I had to post? Beats me.
I think it is great that the oldster from the Rockies won his game last night.
10:41 am on April 18th, 2012
Howlers: So the avatar problem is iPaw related?
10:47 am on April 18th, 2012
Brothers!…I think AJ the Giant and Clarkson the Soon To Be Famous Actor could be brothers…snorkel!sneeze!
10:51 am on April 18th, 2012
Go YSAS! Talent and looks. It doesn’t get any better than that.
10:57 am on April 18th, 2012
This is so neat..Spence put Clarkson’s photo up and gave him a big shout out!!
Wish those of us here in the trenches could see more of Clarkson’s work. We really enjoyed the play Melanie showed us.
I stayed up until the end of the game last night! WOO WOO I am a happy, but sleepy Husky.
Don’t read this Spence:
Macy, Did you see all the runs the Rangers got across the plate in last night’s game.
11:04 am on April 18th, 2012
Howlers – we are so sorry that you lost the BEAUTIFUL Corgi avatar and now are back to the Husky one – it is pretty, but lets face facts – Corgis Rule!
tee hee
Rio and Siber we are happy for you- does this mean the the Rockies go to the Super Bowl?
11:09 am on April 18th, 2012
Reminder!… Speaking of AJ the Giant reminded me there is only 33 days left to get your donations for the Spring Boutique to Melanie first, then to Rebecca by May 20th…heh!…Don’t forget! Mark your calendars! Set your clocks and clear all appointments to get ready!…sniff!…Please do not wait till the last day and bombard poor Melanie with all your photographs on May 20th…snort!
11:20 am on April 18th, 2012
Tupper!…Hows Golinka’s Bear coming along?…snort!…Will she be donating that to the Spring Boutique??…wuffle!
11:22 am on April 18th, 2012
33 days left! I need to get to work and that is nothing to say of the new coat of paint and displays for the MMSB.
11:25 am on April 18th, 2012
Rio – the bear is coming along pretty well. His overalls are done, and now Mama is just making him all “furry” on the parts not covered by overalls. Then she has to sand him, paint him and organize his accoutrements.
She has learned one big lesson in this – she is allergic to fiberglass resin. So, she won’t be doing THAT again anytime soon.
11:33 am on April 18th, 2012
Way to go, YSAS!!!!
11:46 am on April 18th, 2012
Back from the library where we ordered New Tricks.
Wookie, we love Lisa Scottoline, so will have to look for her newest book. We especially like the ones where she features the women attorneys. Does this one do that, or is it a stand alone?
Need to get the grass cut before possible rain around noon. This is our last chance till the weekend. BBL.
12:03 pm on April 18th, 2012
T&G, we do enjoy seeing that corgi avatar, but when posted next to our name, we are afraid that Mom shrunk us somehow.
12:04 pm on April 18th, 2012
Yep…its an iPaw issue. We posted our last comment from the iPaw, and once again our avatar is a corgi.
12:37 pm on April 18th, 2012
Howlers: Again, on my screen, your avatar is you.
12:54 pm on April 18th, 2012
He still isn’t AWAKE!! Carpola.
Anyhoo, I hate doing paperwork. This time it is for Insurance. What a drag.
Hi Wöökie! Rose and Rosalyn were howling in harmony. YSAS is their co-owner.
Umm, there were other things I was going to post, but I need to eat some lunch because I don’t remember anything I was going to say.
Except this is for B.Stover:

12:59 pm on April 18th, 2012
Wookie, Just called the library and they have the Lisa Scottoline book, so we have it on reserve as soon as it comes back in.
Started reading the kid’s series, Betsy and Tacy. Baye did not like them as there isn’t much plot. We think they are interesting tho, as they show a glimpse of a child’s word in a small town in the early 1900’s. No radio, tv, cell phones. Kids had to use their imaginations to play.
1:07 pm on April 18th, 2012
Melanie: Those are the windows?
1:20 pm on April 18th, 2012
We read lots of Lisa Scottolini books…but long time ago. We haven’t read her recently. Actually, we listened to audio cd’s on Mom’s commute. We loved the So. Philly accents.
1:27 pm on April 18th, 2012
Yup B.Stover. In the other picture what you see is as black are the windows. Some have reflections in them so they look like part of the computer display.
Going for my doc prescribed walk.
1:59 pm on April 18th, 2012
I’m sitting here looking at Bear’s chicken scratching from last night. He must have been really tired. Hope he is up to speed for the return flight at midnight.
Melanie: We know walks are great exercise, just curious exactly what symptoms the docs hopes to alleviate. One of the better prescriptions we think.
B: I’m with you about the windows. Always good to be able to see where you are going whether it is necessary or not.
2:30 pm on April 18th, 2012
Masquers. STRESS
plus Blood Pressure
2:33 pm on April 18th, 2012
Oh, I wish this was true.
2:35 pm on April 18th, 2012
Nana says #2 son has pictures and video of the Space Shuttle Discovery flying over D.C. yesterday. Can’t wait to see them!
Wookie: I’ll bet your dad got some good shots too.
2:36 pm on April 18th, 2012
I’m reading City of Light by Lauren Belfer. It’s a real book so I’m reading it outdoors. Then when I’m inside, doing needlepoint and not able to turn pages, I’m listening to an audiobook, Heart of a Killer.
Barb – could you get a new up-to-date picture of Lily and Peaches?
2:41 pm on April 18th, 2012
Melanie: I see. Thanks.
2:55 pm on April 18th, 2012
Walking PLUS Doggies = better than any medicine doctors could prescribe, money could buy, or labs could make.
3:07 pm on April 18th, 2012
B&M – -I pretty this is is a standalone book, not one of the ones featuring the three women attorneys.
OH — yes, Lisa is definitely a Philly girl, through and through. My dad saw her at a book signing once and she spent part of the time tossing tasty-kakes to people in the audience. I think I may have mentioned this before, but my dad and LS graduated from the same law school (in Philly), although he is a few years older than she is.
BSD — unfortunately, my dad was in one of those boring business meetings at his busy place, so he didn’t get to see it at all. Bummer. However, a number of people in his office were able to go onto the roof of the building and said it was spectacular. Someone did send him some photos, so I will see if I can post a couple here.
Wookie
3:12 pm on April 18th, 2012
Here we go. Shuttle photo # 1:

3:16 pm on April 18th, 2012
And here is another one:

3:20 pm on April 18th, 2012
Thank you, Wookie!!! Those are GREAT shots!!!
3:37 pm on April 18th, 2012
WOW!! Thank you Wookie! Those are beautiful photos of the shuttle.
Wish we could have seen it in person.
One of the shuttles a long time ago did have to land in NM at White Sands.
Mom also wishes she could have seen the launch of a Saturn 5 rocket.
4:12 pm on April 18th, 2012
Ha ha ha ha ha! Siber, now you have the corgis’ avatar too!!!
4:18 pm on April 18th, 2012
Howlers: I’m starting to wonder if TMGs have infiltrated your computer. The avatars look normal to me with te exception of t&gs missing avatar a couple of nights ago.
Masquers: Belle is convinced that the two of you are the same breed of dog because you are both black and white. Luna tried to explain to her until she was blue in the snout that it doesn’t work that way.
4:26 pm on April 18th, 2012
I have the corgis on SiberH’s post too!
4:35 pm on April 18th, 2012
Wolfie: We here at Snowhook are embarrassed. We failed to properly thank you for giving last minute blurring lessons to the majority of us so we could attend the birthday party last week. Our lady says it is only good manners to send you a thank you for your help. Luna—mama— gave us the I-rasised-you-better-than-that growl so, on behalf of the entire kennel I put paw to keyboard and thank you.
4:39 pm on April 18th, 2012
I will break the news gently to Sam and my Fellow Sibers…my avatar is always up there for me. It is you guys that have the issues.
4:41 pm on April 18th, 2012
Princess Sam: TMG situation is worse than I thought.
4:46 pm on April 18th, 2012
On my screen SH’s avatar is up not T&G’s.
4:47 pm on April 18th, 2012
OMD! Dick Clark, that forever young face of the times, has gone over the Bridge. RIP
4:50 pm on April 18th, 2012
We seem to be seeing correct avatars too.
MPM, Barb saw Lily last weekend, and will see her again in 2 or 3 weeks in there. She probably won’t be out here visiting the farm for awile. Next time she is out we will definitely get their photo together. It might be too stressful to take Peaches in there for a photo-op.
4:57 pm on April 18th, 2012
Dick!…Clark!…Gone?…sniffle!
5:10 pm on April 18th, 2012
Dick Clark was someone you just thought of as going on forever.
5:47 pm on April 18th, 2012
New Years Eve will never be the same without Dick Clark! Barb grew up with American Bandstand.
6:00 pm on April 18th, 2012
Song!..For Dick Clark…sniff!
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
6:04 pm on April 18th, 2012
American Bandstand – Nana too has fond memories of that show. He had just about every group of the day as guests at one time or another.
Ditto for New Year’s Rock’n Eve. Things just won’t be the same.
Thanks, Rio. sniff
6:18 pm on April 18th, 2012
Ditto what Bear just said. Rio, you brought a little tear to the eyes with that song.
6:53 pm on April 18th, 2012
MagPie, please have Barb check her SDD.
I was a little too young for American Bandstand. Never really listened to “Pop” until I was much older. I read a great deal.
Wöökie, those pictures are better than any I’m seeing on the news.
DRESS FOR WEDDING HAS BEEN CHOSEN AND RECEIVED! Thank Dog for the Royals’ Mum. Knowing how things are here, she emailed me a site, then picked two out, came over with them and made me try them on. Zoe is happy because she got to help. Dan got to see the dresses, though he did think that Amalia had been in Germany yesterday. Anyhoo! Check that off !!!
7:29 pm on April 18th, 2012
Hey, y’all! So sorry to hear about Dick Clark. Mom does admit to seeing American Bandstand a time or two, but the most she can remember about the show was when they played new records and the kids had to rate them. It seems like the comments were always: “It had a good beat and you could dance to it!”
7:41 pm on April 18th, 2012
Sam has her avatar problem on her iPaw and I think Oleys use an iPaw too. No one else is reporting this problem. That makes me think the iPaw is keeping the avatars in memory and the software has a glitch, making an incorrect match-up.
7:44 pm on April 18th, 2012
A moment of silence for Dick Clark here. I grew up with American Bandstand. To this day, if I hear a song I’ll always say, if it’s got a good beat, and I can dance to it, I’ll give it a 95!!!!!!
I am still at work, and have had a horrible day. Hope the lightning bolts help on Friday.
Great Shuttle pictures!!!!
7:46 pm on April 18th, 2012
I use desktop, laptop and Ipaw, and I see everyone’s avatar okay.
7:51 pm on April 18th, 2012
I just updated my ipaw software to the newest version yesterday. That was when the avatar problem started.
8:02 pm on April 18th, 2012
Tyb, you are very handsome up top smelling those lovely flowers.
8:14 pm on April 18th, 2012
Ahem, Melanie, I know for a “fact” that you were not too young for American Bandstand. Mom watched it on Saturdays, not the weekday shows.
Mr. Husky, no we missed the Rangers last night.
“It’s got a good beat and you can dance to it”
8:25 pm on April 18th, 2012
Hmmm, Miss Macy, I guess my TV watching was curtailed a bit more than I knew!
YSAS finally woke up and looked at the blog. He was digging his foot in the ground and saying “Ah, shucks” and blushing.
I’m headed to bed. A long day of paperwork. Whoever said that using the brain is not as taxing as using the body?
Rose, I hope the lightning bolts help. If all else fails maybe you could be Storm.
8:36 pm on April 18th, 2012
My dad remembers the ratings for the songs on American Bandstand too. But will New Years Eve ever be the same without Dick Clark ushering it in? Nice tribute Rio on that score. Wookie
8:41 pm on April 18th, 2012
Oh my dog – Melanie has lost her mind!
(Mama says Melanie looked beeee-youuuu-ti-ful in her new purple dress).
8:41 pm on April 18th, 2012
Official!…Melanie will be Dressed at the wedding…snort!snort!…No Empress and Her Suit of Gold kind of thing will be happening…heh!
Game!…Well…huffle!puffle!…We have walked and are all ready for the game to start any second now…sniff!…It doesn’t smell like rain, does it?….grunt!
8:43 pm on April 18th, 2012
Yeah, Melanie, I did a double take over that “too young” comment too. I think Bandstand started in the mid 50s (when you were born) but I believe it was on for 30 years. Sooo, that should have included your viewing interest at some point. We are not going to let you off that easily, Missy!
8:50 pm on April 18th, 2012
Bandstand!…My friend says she used to watch American Bandstand with her big brother….snort!…They would dance to the songs that had a good beat…chuffle!
8:57 pm on April 18th, 2012
Royals: Was there a camera present when Melanie tried on her new duds? Hint, hint.
9:08 pm on April 18th, 2012
HOMERUN!….heh!heh!….Johnny “Dirt in his Pants” Herrera just hit a 2 run homerun….WOOOO! ….Doesn’t happen very often, but this is a Special Night now…heh!
9:10 pm on April 18th, 2012
Sluggers!….Everyone’s a slugger tonight…snort!…Monday night when my friend was at that game they oculdn’t hit it out of the infield…gruffle!
9:17 pm on April 18th, 2012
Rockies are smokin tonight!
9:25 pm on April 18th, 2012
Pitcher!…. One has to ponder whether the Rockies Batters are on a hot streak or whether the Padres Pitcher is not up to snuff!….sneeze!….I’m hoping the former rather than the latter…sniff!…Johnny is coming up again soon!….heh!heh!
9:28 pm on April 18th, 2012
Melanie, Did you see the 2nd email I sent to you SDD, or have you already gone off to slumber land?
Show us a pic of you in the purple dress, please, pretty please.
9:57 pm on April 18th, 2012
Another Home Run for the Rockies!!!
9:57 pm on April 18th, 2012
Tax-Day!….Has come and gone…heh!…It feels good not to have my birthday on Tax Day for a change…snort…It was one of the best and most fun birthdays I’ve had in a long time….snorkel!… I wonder what Staff did today, the day after Tax Day…grunt!…Her and her Kats have been very quiet today…sniff!
Homer!…Another ONE!….Wooooo!….Cuddyer this time! I love that guy!…snort!snort!
9:59 pm on April 18th, 2012
Wookie: I forgot to say earlier that it would have been way cool to see the shuttle making its last flight. Years and years ago, when Mom’s family lived in California, Grandma took Mom and my uncles to the beach to watch the Queen Mary as she sailed by on her way to her final berth in Long Beach. Mom remembers having to get up early and stand out in the cold — it was December of 1967 — waiting for the ship to pass. She and her brothers kept asking Grandma, “Is that it?” everytime a boat would pass. And Grandma kept saying, “You’ll know when it’s the Queen Mary.” And Grandma was right! Even all these many years later, Mom remembers the awesome sight of the ocean liner making her final voyage!
10:05 pm on April 18th, 2012
Kirby!…You always have good stories to tell..snort!
10:12 pm on April 18th, 2012
I enjoy Kirby’s stories.
10:19 pm on April 18th, 2012
Melanie! That picture is shocking!
Rose: Get under the quilt. The stress of the day will soon fade away. Positive thoughts are winging their way to you.
Kirby: That must have been an awesome sight.
Bear is fading fast. Looks like Moi is on tracker duty tonight.
Later Gators.
10:20 pm on April 18th, 2012
The Rockie’s pitcher batted a run in!
The Texas Rangers win another one. They have forgotten how to lose a baseball game.
10:21 pm on April 18th, 2012
Bella – in answer to your question “was there a camera present” when Meolnaie was trying the dress on. Yes there was indeed a camera – one with very good resolution and excellent capacity. And it was safely in Mama’s pocket the whole time.
Melanie and Mama were having such a good time with the trying on and modeling, neither one of them gave a minutes thought to taking a picture.
Sheesh – tell ya – when those two get together….
10:21 pm on April 18th, 2012
Yes, thank you Kirby. Your mom will make a great story telling grandma for the two legged little ones.
Night all, have a big day at CLL tomorrow.
10:23 pm on April 18th, 2012
Mary!….Hasn’t Queen Mary the 2nd retired now too…sniff!…Or am I just dreaming?…heh!…”Rollin! Rollin on the River!”…chorkel!…I’ve got that song in my flat head now…sniff!…”Left a good job in the city…..Working for the Man every night and day…”…Rollin!
10:27 pm on April 18th, 2012
thanks Rio
10:34 pm on April 18th, 2012
SiberH!…Why are you thanking me Soon-To-Be-Wonderfluffed-Guy?…heh!snort!heh!
10:38 pm on April 18th, 2012
Rio, Now that song is going through my pointed head.
10:53 pm on April 18th, 2012
Song!…You can hum it while you are being bathed and brushed and Wonderfluffed…snort!heh!…Don’t forget the powder and bow!…chorkel!
11:01 pm on April 18th, 2012
hmmm Maybe I could drive the groomer up a tree while humming it.
The Rockies are going to win. Mom is falling asleep so I must say good night all.
There will be no wonderfluff.
11:07 pm on April 18th, 2012
Siber – you can alternate it with:
Row Row Row Your Boat
Michael, Row the Boat Ashore
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Black Water (well, I built me a raft and she’s ready for floatin)
Barges
Anchors Away
Sailing on Moonlight Bay
Come on gang – surely you can come up with more to keep Siber humming during the Wonderfluff cycle….
11:09 pm on April 18th, 2012
Oh and how about – We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine.
On that note – g’night everyone. Early morning tomorrow for a show.
11:13 pm on April 18th, 2012
Staff: She got a new hair do this morning then she drove us to an estate sale (2nd day so not much left) then made a detour to the Lands End outlet store where we were merrily trying on all the clothes when suddenly she yelled from the front of the store, Jeni, we have to go, right now! She’d forgotten her dentist appointment. Now, I think she is reading a good book.
Cool pictures of the shuttle. Thank you. I would’ve loved to see that in person. I took a tour of the Queen Mary when I visited California years ago. It is huge.
11:13 pm on April 18th, 2012
Cycle!…Wonderfluff!…heh!snort!heh!…I foresee him sitting under a Fur-Dryer reading Sports Illustrated very soon…chorkel!…Beau sits in a cage type thing that blows him dry after his boutique bath…heh!heh!…What a dweebette!…chuffle!
11:19 pm on April 18th, 2012
Win!….

11:19 pm on April 18th, 2012
Dawson: Yes, the Queen Mary is huge, but interestingly enough, Mom only saw it during that sail. She never got to go aboard after they turned it into a hotel/restaurant/tourist attraction. Her cousin even had a prom on the ship. but Mom has only seen it from afar!
11:20 pm on April 18th, 2012
Garcia, when I took those mail order Blurring lessons, I had no idea how handy they would be on the blog. I am always happy to share my knowledge with my friends.
I have been taking some time traveling classes with mixed results. Once I have been consistently successful, I will tell all. Until then let’s just say that King Arthur would have benefited from a good wonder fluffing.
11:21 pm on April 18th, 2012
Oops! Remove period, insert comma! And it’s not even a damn ipaw!
11:24 pm on April 18th, 2012
Good night, y’all!
11:35 pm on April 18th, 2012
Wolfie: I bet you didn’t expect to forty plus students to show up for your blurring lessons at once. Must have been a sight. The reason you haven’t received MORE complaints is because many people don’t know how/where to complain!I personally don’t want to go through “TOP STORIES” that some one else determined is Important, nor do i want to censor’ my friends! I enjoy posts from both friends & acquaintences,so why change;I also don’t like some one deciding what is IMPORTANT posts from friends!
