Good morning. The walk/run was beautiful. Clover, field daisies and Newfs. What’s better than that?
The Pack is all asleep. They run about 4 miles while we walk 1/2 mile. It’s great.
Had some problems here this morning. Luckily my sister was able to come and sit with Dan while we got out. Things are better now.

B: I agree. From what we saw of it, the hostess monopolized the interview. Spence and the other author were purrfectly capable of explaining story lines and techniques without her constant intervention.

We like William Kent Krueger’s books. Try the first one in the Cork O’Connor series; the characters develop as does concern for the environment. You’ll enjoy the cultural tension – Cork is part Irish, part Anishinaabe Indian.

Gilly here – cuz Tupper is in disgrace. The folks came home late last night, all peaceful and stress free. They took us for our last walk of the night. I was on a leash cuz I do get just a little crazy, and the Siber side of me won’t come when called. Little Miss Prissy Butt….ummm… I mean Tupper doesn’t have to be on leash, cuz she “can be trusted”.
Well, last night , she trusted herself right off into the bushes where a skunk was lurking. She did come when Mama called, so she didn’t get the full blast, but she did get a snootful; just her face, but that’s bad enough!
So she has now had two baths, and the folks are at the laundromat washing her blanket and the towels they used to dry her and the rug she was on etc.
For once- I was the good doggie!

Interview!….We just finished watching the full video and it was truly worth the time you have to listen to that lady speak and interupt…sniff!…Eventually the authors did get to say their piece and they gave away books at the end!…heh!…They never called my number so I didn’t win anything…grunt!

High winds so it is raining leaves up here. As soon as it calms down, I need to start raking. Bare trees without snow are so depressing–not that I want snow right now.
On today’s walk, hunters were out and about. I kept whistling and talking because I was afraid that my brown fleece jacket was too moose-colored for comfort. And Sadie is so much lower to the ground than most dogs I thought she’d be mistaken for a spruce hen. Fortunately gunfire makes the dogs nervous so they stuck close to me instead of exploring far afield. Recently two people in the state were killed in hunting accidents so I need to do more planning as to where and when to walk. It is hard to give up hiking because all too soon there will be a good 3-4 months that we can’t. There must not be skunks up here as I and the dogs have never encountered one. Another reason to live up here (along with no snakes and no ticks).

We walked outside this morning and were surrounded by dozens of butterflies. I couldn’t get pictures as they were flying and twirling, but then we walked by this tree, and realized that there were literally hundreds of them hanging in the leaves. We counted about 20 just on this one branch. Tried to get as many in as possible.

The orange box place has a “all natural skunk smell remover that is safe to apply directly to the dog’s coat” and “doesn’t leave a sticky residue”. The problem? It is only available by ordering ONLINE and will be delivered in a week to 10 days.

One you can see his face but it’s dark.
Second you see the group he is with is unloading kegs from a boat. You can’t see his face in that. He wasn’t sure when they are because BE never really says.

T&G Since it is just on Tupper’s face. I would just use some soap and water like you have done. Mom has used all sorts of different products and home remedies, and they all work about the same. They don’t work very well.
Mom has had freshly skunked dogs in both her house and vehicles.
The smell will fade completely in time and it doesn’t take that long.

Tupper, don’t worry you pretty little head. You will survive; I have first paw (or should I say full face) experience with that particular subject matter myself. Although I have learned to stay away from the squirrels with the striped tails.
Regarding the other author (Krueger); my dad has one of his books but it is unfortunately buried in his every growing “to read” pile. The guy has a pretty good reputation and my dad thinks he won at least one (and maybe two) Edgars.

When Kelly was little she eat hush puppies at a restaurant and really liked them. However, she couldn’t remember their name so she would call the Shush Doggies. Makes sense to a 3 year old.
Barb is making a pot roast dinner with turnips, potatoes, carrots and onions. It smells wonderful but she is taking it over to Josh and Jessica’s as they worked all day. I hope she brings me some leftovers!

We’ve battened down the corgis, but perhaps we should set to building an ark. CHH, I don’t know about you, but we have higher winds than normal and is hasn’t stopped raining since yesterday. Our corner of the world is soaked through and blustery. We have our phones charged and water stored for the dogs; I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose power.
Wose: I have been on the road all week for work so I tried to take photos of Belle Starr last night, but she is soaking wet, and (she’ll hate me for saying this) doesn’t look as cute as she normally does. I’ll have to wait until she dries and fluffs out a bit.

Tupper: is there room in the proverbial doghouse for my dog Lady? I was painting KILZ on a concrete floor in the bedroom in preparation for carpet tomorrow. As I was in the tiny closet painting, I came out to discover that Lady had walked across the newly painted floor and laid down. When I softly said
“L- a – d – y,” she got up, left the room and laid down on the carpet in the living room. Before you asked why I didn’t close the bedroom door, I had taken it off to move the furniture out.

CHH: AJ was out in the wind and the rain today cutting down a large tree that threatened the kennel should it fall. Stay safe and warm.

Lady: My harness off to you for a job well done. One side of me has been dark green since AJ painted all the dog houses a couple of weeks ago. He had to paint over Tenzing shaped areas on the roofs of each of the freshly painted dog houses. Fuss? What fuss? I didn’t bother me. Good work.

Tenzing: yes, Lady will just have to live with white paint on her footpads and belly. I am too tired to take her to the lake and swim (bathe). She will walk it off in the woods in a few days.

Rio: I was able to lay on several of the houses, but not all. AJ got wise and put a stop to my efforts. Wouldn’t it have been something if I could have got to all 50+ dog houses—one for the records books, I’m sure.

Rio: There are only 51 of us and each of us have our own house. I do have to share my humans and house with Luna and Belle Starr every night. Sometimes that nutter, Belle Starr has the gumption to lay on my pillow—-the best in the house—when I’m not looking. While the majority of the team is away, there are a lot of empty dog houses. Annabelle has her choice of any of them, but if you can’t find her, the best place to check is Leonard’s house, the dog not the Storyteller. Those two became fast friends.

Thanks to Bluecat, for giving us a way to find the hat-tip to The Royal Mum on our kindle. We are guessing it is because Bernie is upset about lack of authenticity, but at least Johnny Depp was not in the cast. (or was he??? We have not yet finished the book!)
