Today in Chatham on Cape Cod
Spence will be part of the annual Christmas stroll, signing (and paw-printing, if he remembers the kit) at Yellow Umbrella Books on Main St. from 1-3. Come see the seals off Lighthouse Beach! And maybe blood in the water if any of the great whites have lingered before heading wherever they head.

Good morning, everyone! Best of luck to OFA today on the Cape (fear? hope? may? NO…FISH!) Cod.We are sending love and pawsitive thoughts to all our blog-family. Today around here is “put brakes on the DDD’s truck and fix the Houdini approved fence” day.
Have a super successful Saturday, all.

Good morning! We wish we were in Old Cape Cod with Spence today. sigh
The ‘rents did their annual Christmas Stroll in Skippack for Illiminaire Night. They both came home raving about their little packages and their dinners. This morning’s weigh-ins changed the raves to moans. Heh Heh!
Special Husky Hugs going out to ML, Wose, BooBear’s Maw, and Siber-H’s maw.
Pop just looked up Feliway to see what it is, and he sees a lot of folks talking about the diffusers getting hot and smelling like they are going to catch fire.
8:44 am on December 13th, 2014
Morning everyone.
Mama is off to have breakfast with Martha and Zoe. She is planning to have eggs Benedict, so there will not be a weigh- in afterwards
Really, OFA? “Blood in the water” on a Christmas stroll? Sheesh, you must be great fun at holiday parties.
9:05 am on December 13th, 2014
T&G, Enjoy! Eggs Benedict is a favorite around here. Give Zoe and Martha hugs from us, please.
9:25 am on December 13th, 2014
Love Eggs Benedict.
I know seals are a go-to food for Great Whites, but we wouldn’t want to watch it! Have to turn off the end of the hunt scenes on t v too. At least Barb does, I personally don’t mind. heehee
Today is the last sequential date for 20 years. Lots of couples getting married today, so they can remember the date. Next one will be 1-2-34. Saw that on t v, didn’t come up with it on my own.
Howlers, tell your folks to stay off the scales till January, if they want to keep the holiday spirit.
Have fun on the walk Spence.
9:31 am on December 13th, 2014
Have fun Spence.
There is new language/directions about Friend of the Month to the right of the blog page.
Good morning all. (I love eggs Benedict!)

Has anyone noticed that Hamilton has finally left the building? 🙂
9:42 am on December 13th, 2014
The pictures that were on yesterday’s blog are no longer there.
9:45 am on December 13th, 2014
Eggs, we love ’em any old way but mom says Benedict is best. All of the FOC area seems to have changed.
9:47 am on December 13th, 2014
Sounds like good times for OFA. I don’t know nothin of eggs benedict.
Just now looking forward to reading this…I remember when she got the dog she’s writing about. This just dropped mere hours ago.

Hope y’all’s weekends are off to a great start. Had a scare this morning when I saw some…problem charges…on my banking page, but that’s all worked out, well, it will be, anyway. It can only get better from there.

Back from the Big Bad Storm. YEEP!
Seals and Sharks and Blood in the Water, Oh No.
On a Happier Note…Eggs Benedict!!! Delish!
Hounds: Heh, heh. Houdini Proof? Good Luck with That!
Yes, Hamilton is Gone but, as B pointed out, so is Everyone Else. Sob, Sob, Sob.
Barb,Magpie,Lucy: Thanks for letting us know about the Sequential Day…we would have missed it otherwise.
For Our Blogmates mentioned above..Adding Big Bear Hugs to the mix.
10:31 am on December 13th, 2014
Getting ready to leave for multiple errands. Gone Girl and Grey Mountain are both waiting for me at the library. Decided to pass on GG.

A Christmas Story
Saving Santa (animated)
The Family Man
Ernest Saves Christmas
All I Want for Christmas
The Family Stone
The Preacher’s Wife
Scrooge (the 70’s musical version)

Buddy, thanks for that link about the lady training her own dogs. We have bookmarked it so mom can continue it later. It is fascinating.
10:32 am on December 13th, 2014
NO! This is a KATASTROPHE…what happened to the FOC Gallery???
Spence & Admin, Say it isn’t so!
10:36 am on December 13th, 2014
Buddy, that book does sound fascinating. It is on our proverbial “pile”.
10:38 am on December 13th, 2014
So, what, were they running out of space or something? A disastrophe, I say. Which is an Alena word. It’s one of my favorites.
As for Julie’s new book…I’ve started in on it. I’ve known her from a guide dog Email list for years, ever since Monty’s predecessor. A little while now. Am reading everything I can get my paws on in preparation for little Hilda.
10:39 am on December 13th, 2014
Hey Gang! I have added a new skillset to my ever-growing list of carreers. I am now an expert fitness trainer. I accompany Mom on her fitness walks. If she dawdles, or stops to sniff something, or thinks about lifting her leg by the side of the road, I hurry her on, so as not to lose momentum. I am available for hire. Please spread the word, as my business relies on word of mouth.
10:41 am on December 13th, 2014
Oops! My job sounds rather mundane when it gets posted after Buddy’s prep work for little Hilda.
10:48 am on December 13th, 2014
Marathon Meash, not mundane at all, very important and we will tell our friends. You are right, woof of mouth is important!
10:53 am on December 13th, 2014
Yeah, that personal fitness trainer thing is really important. It’s definitely Leno’s other job. As for Hilda…well…she has to get born first.
11:14 am on December 13th, 2014
“Disastrophy” is now in our lexicon as a favorite word. How perfect.
Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Martha and Zoe are so delightful to hang out with, and the diner we go to offers a variety of benedict styles. I make it a plan to get a different one each time I go there, which isn’t all that often. They used to have benedict over crab cakes – heavenly – but now, we settle for one of the other 7 styles.
Now I have to start planning dinner, which isn’t easy when so fully sated with hollandaise sauce.
11:47 am on December 13th, 2014
I personally think “disastrophe” should be in everyone’s vocabulary. I wonder how we can petition to get it into the OED? Failing that, well, it’s just brilliant. I use it at every available opportunity. Anyway…anything over crab cakes sounds like a winner, if you ask me.
1:44 pm on December 13th, 2014
I tried to post this morning and couldn’t find today. So I posted on yesterday. At that time, about 11:30 here, the pictures were still on yesterday. I didn’t notice the FOC being different.
Now I come back and there are many morning posts…I wonder if Mike has been a busy beaver and I needed to restart this computer to see the new site. I wonder…
2:14 pm on December 13th, 2014
When it comes to computers, ?quien sabe?
2:17 pm on December 13th, 2014
Howlers and T.C.: Thank you for the cute card. I especially like the dog bone biscuits on the tree!
I don’t see Staff’s comment from today on yesterday’s post.
2:31 pm on December 13th, 2014
Staff!…You never answered my question so your cookies are going to Minnesota …grunt!…My missing photo from last night…sniff!
2:33 pm on December 13th, 2014
Shopping!….DONE!…snort!…Someone is almost totally done in record time this year. No credit card was used. Just cold hard cash. That really cut down on the spur of the moment gift buying…heh!heh!

We need recommendations on a new upright vacuum. Something in the $100-$120 range if possible. No $400 Dyson in the budget. We had a Eureka Endurance for several years and it worked fine on hardwood and carpet. The Shark Navigator and Hoover Wind tunnels are both highly rated.
I think we mentioned that our once a month cleaning girl had broken some things and so we were putting away any breakable treasures before she came. Well Wednesday morning she was here again. Yesterday Barb tried to vacuum (every other day for dog hair), and the vacuum seemed to be plugged up. After fiddling with it for a while, we discovered that the lady had emptied the canister and thrown out the base along with the hair/dirt in the canister. The catch was broken on the bottom, so when you emptied it you had to reattach the bottom. No big deal, and it still worked fine. She just put the canister back on the vacuum, continued to clean, and never noticed that the canister was not refilling. Gah! So now the piece is missing and the garbage has been picked up. Can I tell you that Barb went ballistic last night? She also no longer has a cleaning lady! Any suggestions?
2:35 pm on December 13th, 2014
Rio, I am almost positive she is in Minneapolis. Dawson is not.

I especially like the black pug…heh heh heh
2:43 pm on December 13th, 2014
Rio, yes in Minnesota. My post from this morning on yesterday is gone from my computer also. Very mysterious. Probably it is somewhere safe. THat is where missing things always end up.
2:58 pm on December 13th, 2014
B&M&L First, a new cleaning gal. Second, no ideas. We have a Dyson Animal and a shop vac. (no cleaning person other than mom) Eureka and Kirby and Hoover have always been fairly reliable and since most of your herd are short haired, should be OK. Mom has hard floors, Dyson, broom and string mop.
3:20 pm on December 13th, 2014
We just bought a new vacuum to replace the hated Dyson. Why people like those is a mystery to us. We got a Miele cannister and we love it.
3:21 pm on December 13th, 2014
HOH. Goes without saying. I think after Barb yelled at her voice mail last night she won’t even be calling back. She is sooo done! Will be doing all our own cleaning for a while, at least till we pay for the new vacuum.
3:41 pm on December 13th, 2014
The Hoover Wind Tunnel is good, but heavy. I will be looking for something lighter next time. Given that my mantra about appliances and cars is “if it is paid for and it works, no need to buy another,” I will probably never get another.
I suppose that explains why I still drive a 1998 Subaru.
Delightful to see Amalia this morning. I had the Twisted Eggs Benedict – tomato, basil, yummy.
3:57 pm on December 13th, 2014
Barb – we have a Shark and like it very much. Check your local stores for sales, and then compare to Amazon. We got a very good deal there.
4:05 pm on December 13th, 2014
Let’s see if today’s pictures disappear tomorrow. It does look like we’re being phased out.

4:29 pm on December 13th, 2014
The Hoover Wind Tunnel got some really good reviews and an equal # of 1 stars. The Shark is high on our list, but we will check local sales and see what else is out there. Amazon does seem to have good prices, and free delivery.
4:42 pm on December 13th, 2014
OMD!!!! We got a package in the mail today, and we assumed it was something we purchased in the Boutique. Our minds were racing, trying to figure out something we purchased that would come in this size package. What do you know? It was not something we ordered in the Boutique afterall. It was something someone else, someone awesome, purchased in the Boutique!!!! Thank you thank you thank you, from the bottom of our Siberian hearts. Kat especially will appreciate the comfy, cozy warmth. As will Mom and Pop, for sure.
4:52 pm on December 13th, 2014
She is awesome isn’t she?
4:54 pm on December 13th, 2014
I’m putting in our redo for the Shark rotator as well. We bought ours direct from Shark…I think I saw that they’re having a sale right now, too. $200 got us the vac plus the “free” steam mop. Got a bunch of add-ons, too, for extra. But it really picks up nicely, and it’s not terribly loud, and it’s pretty light all things considered. We like it better than the Kirby that we still have, but it is A) heavy and B) stinky.
5:02 pm on December 13th, 2014
Again I say, damned autocorrect….

Uploads test
5:24 pm on December 13th, 2014
Snort!….heh!heh!…That looks like a guy I used to know back in the daze….chorkel!
5:39 pm on December 13th, 2014
That guy looks like our maw more often than we care to say. Heh!
5:39 pm on December 13th, 2014
What, what, what is going on? Are we actually going to be able to put pictures on and can we have FOC back, pretty please?
5:46 pm on December 13th, 2014
Giant image resize test
5:51 pm on December 13th, 2014
One more test
5:52 pm on December 13th, 2014
My bet is that one failed. At least it did on my Surface 8.1.
The uploads test passed here.
5:53 pm on December 13th, 2014
Samuel Jackson passed.
5:54 pm on December 13th, 2014
Samuel Jackson passed. and the giant resize worked well also. I didn’t realize the side scrolling bars were functional.
5:59 pm on December 13th, 2014
FOC!…As long as we have to post foc photos out on facebookie, it does not work in my opinion….grump!
6:03 pm on December 13th, 2014
this picture is from Philip Walters from November 2013. That is Amy and May from Snowhook up front.
6:26 pm on December 13th, 2014
Foto!…Nice foto, but shouldn’t Phil be in the back on the sled…heh!heh!
Chicken!…We are immensely enjoying the old classic movie, “The Ghost And Mr. Chicken”….snort!…Ny friend says she has loved this movie since puppy-hood…heh!heh!
6:49 pm on December 13th, 2014
All we saw in the pic of Amy and May is that tails were a’waggin
Rio – we may look that movie up. So very disgusted with network tv, we have been watching roku or nothing. Do you like “the Incredible Mr Limpet” too?
6:55 pm on December 13th, 2014
Limpet!…Oh my dawg!…heh!…Someone here says she forgot all about that old movie. She says she loved it as a kid…snorkel!…That is going on our Netflix List for sure…chuffle!
7:02 pm on December 13th, 2014
I sure wish that the page selection worked properly with screen readers. … I can reliably view the first 50 posts, but the only browser/screen reader/whatever combination that works to read additional pages is Chrome with the Chromevox extension. The page numbers and previous/next links aren’t selectable with any Windows browser with any of three screen readers, nor with Safari on the Mac with Voiceover. Not sure what sort of hocus locus would fix that though. Everything else on the site works tip top though.
7:12 pm on December 13th, 2014
Rio, When we saw that picture, we were waiting to hear about a runaway sled team. Snort
Wose, please come back! We have BIG news! Mom now likes Brussels sprouts! It’s a miracle. We made them your way, with Barb’s additions of bacon, pecans, and garlic.
Buddy, what reader are you now using to get to the second page? This is a dilemna that hadn’t occurred to us. We hope Mr. Baker can remedy the situation.
7:17 pm on December 13th, 2014
Do you recognize these “dinosaurs” that are about to wreak havoc on the Gingerbread Town?
7:24 pm on December 13th, 2014
Oh no! The picture I thought I attached didn’t? I will think about it tomorrow.
8:01 pm on December 13th, 2014
All Photos were Cut Off here. Back to the Drawing Board, Chet.
(whispering) but thank you from the bottom of our plunderer hearts for working on a solution to the upload dilemma.
8:02 pm on December 13th, 2014
If I post a comment, the most recent page shows. Otherwise, it’s Chrome/Chromevox later in the day when comments go past 50. With any other combination of browser and screen readers, best case scenario is that the “Previos 1 2 etc. next” options all show as one selection that doesn’t actually do anything.
8:03 pm on December 13th, 2014
Staff’s foto came through nicely.
8:17 pm on December 13th, 2014
test

8:19 pm on December 13th, 2014
Wowser, our first foto since 8.0 came about. Sorry we do not have FOC but we are not in the cold all alone anymore.
8:23 pm on December 13th, 2014
Been holding on to this for a while…

8:23 pm on December 13th, 2014
Blog!…So some of us are having troubles, but others are not..sniff!…I’m okay for now – I think…unless my photo did not post for the rest of you this afternoon…grunt!
8:49 pm on December 13th, 2014
OMD, Rio, we both posted at 8:23…does that make us twins?
8:54 pm on December 13th, 2014
And on this note, we are going nighty night.
9:29 pm on December 13th, 2014
This is the photo of the gingerbread house that Martha was trying to post. Gingerbread village being attacked by “monsters”

9:31 pm on December 13th, 2014
Looks like one or two of those “monsters” were chickens that the DDD fell in love with!
9:42 pm on December 13th, 2014
Chet: the first photo test worked fine. The giant test and Samuel Jackson dog test I could see on the blog but when I clicked on the photos, they enlarged too big to see.
9:50 pm on December 13th, 2014
GAH!…Now my DVD of The Christmas Carol with George C. Scott is stuck…grump!…I have been having so much trouble with bad DVDs lately. Either cracked in half completely or “sticky”…grumble!…Yet another movie we will not get to finish…sniff!…Pisses me off completely.
9:57 pm on December 13th, 2014
Off tonight to a flute concert. I love listening to flutes but I the next day when I go to practice, it is a struggle. My beginning flute efforts pale in comparison.
Tomorrow I hope to finish my Christmas cards and wrap a couple of packages.
Does anyone know why kittens like to comb my scalp and nibble on my hair?
I have a Dyson vacuum which I really like. I bought a Kirby in August and it hasn’t worked in a month and I haven’t had time to take it to the shop 30 minutes away.
10:39 pm on December 13th, 2014
Thank you everyone for all the vacuum suggestions. I will need to make a decision before the dog hair takes over.
Hobbit, We are in the same spot-have a few more Christmas cards to send out, and then plan to wrap more presents tomorrow – or better yet, stuff them in gift bags.
Sweet dreams. Hope to hear tomorrow from those that have been lurking.
