Today At One
Spencer Quinn at the Barnes and Noble in Hingham, MA – 96 Derby Street, at the Derby Street Shops.
“They spell it Shoppes,” Spence says.
“Can’t do that,” says Admin. “Would rather die.”

Hola!
8:19 am on September 10th, 2011
Howdie!…honk!
8:53 am on September 10th, 2011
How do you say “shoppes”?
Good Morning All!
8:57 am on September 10th, 2011
Good morning. Mom wants to work on her new MacBook Air but we have company coming today. This was supposed to be a rain-free Girl’s Day at the pool that now has rain in the forecast. Just have to wait to see if the rain passes us over in the next few hours.
9:00 am on September 10th, 2011
Good morning, y’all! Bright blue skies here this morning. A perfect day to watch my Iowa Hawkeyes trounce Iowa State! Only problem is Mom and Dad say I can’t go with them to the party. No dogs allowed at the restaurant. 🙁 How stupid is that place?!
9:14 am on September 10th, 2011
Very stupid, Kirby T!
Have fun with your new Mac, MollyPop and PLEASE don’t send the rain this way!
Finished last night’s comments. I don’t ever remember seeing something called 00Black on the slots.
Rebecca, I hope you got home! I do think it was not only a sniggle fritz but a bold CARPOLA! Your Pack imed My Pack and said you were bringing them a salmon each. My Pack got jealous and demanded two breakfasts each. Was your Pack telling the truth?
Rio, hope your friend has as good a day today as you did yesterday.
Barb, yes the beans are your beans! Will think of you as we eat them down todayl
Wölfie, please tell your mom that we’re thinking of her and her family.
Well, things to do but luckily don’t have to go anywhere today except one place for fun!
9:32 am on September 10th, 2011
The “e” on the end of some English words–called the “scribal e”–indicates that the first vowel is long. Some examples are not and note, dim and dime, wan and wane.
Some shop(pe)s do the same thing where I live. I think they think it sounds “colonial.”
Have a good day Spence. (I’d call this September schedule “hectic.”)
Good morning all.

Melanie, Our Kentucky Wonder beans produced a mega harvest too. We grew them on a 4 foot heavy duty tomato cage, but something taller would have been better. We love the beans, except they are not stringless, so when you snap the ends you have to pull the little string on the sides. We are saving a bunch on the vines to dry for dried beans plus seed for next year.
Wolfie, How old wer the boys when they came to you? We are thinking you said they were small boys, and not babies, is that right?
T & G, What a nice surpris you got in the mail. It is nice to get those unexpected gifts and to know that someone was thinking of you.
Barb is getting ready to depart for the day. She is picking up a meat order (Bob was his name, and he was a fair champion) and heading into the burbs. Early B-Day celebration with the kids and grands in Woodstock at Josh and Jess’s home (the new cycle shop owners). They asked what she wanted for her B-Day and she said bird seed and gourmet doggy treats. Haaw, wan’t that sweet! Almost makes up for leaving me home all day!
9:34 am on September 10th, 2011
Pooh Hugh, can’t wait to read Bee’s post today. She will agree with Admin. It makes us wince too.
Cody is living with his girlfriend in a shed that has no electricity. They are applying for food stamps and yet can afford to spend $300+ per month on weed. Ticks me off. He is not ready yet but he will be. A few months in the Bass Lake snow will humble him to the point where he agrees to rehab. And once he goes, so will Chad. Prayers needed here, please. And Rio, we will pray for your friend’s sister’s family.
Well, we finally get some clouds but we are expecting electrical storms so we are on high alert for forest fires,
9:41 am on September 10th, 2011
Pooh Hugh?
Pooh Hugh?
POOH HUGH????????????
Dang. Carp.
It was supposed to say “Oooohhhhh”. And I actually corrected the silly ipaw once.
Hmmmmm……Pooh Hugh. Actually, I think I like it.
9:44 am on September 10th, 2011
Melanie, those beans look delish!
I hope Rebecca made it home last night.
Happy early birthday Barb!
9:50 am on September 10th, 2011
Barb, the boys were 10 when we got them. They had been though ” h-e-double hockey sticks” by then. We knew that it would be a challenge and it has been.
9:57 am on September 10th, 2011
Prayers to Wolfie’s family.
10:01 am on September 10th, 2011
Good morning. Today is doggie day! We are going to a Car Wash to benefit the doggies (and kats) at the Humane Society. And then….shudder. Mom is thinking about checking out this dude named Duke at the Animal Rescue League. That will mean nothing but work for us.
10:09 am on September 10th, 2011
Wolfie, We will keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
Kelly’s FIL was released from the nursing home yesterday. He decided he wants to be alone at his home. No alcohol rehab for him (doesn’t need it), no in-home assistance (too expensive) so everyone is betting on how long he makes it till the first drink. Guesses are 3 days to 3 weeks. Hard to feel sorry for the old coot. Barb once saw him knee one of Kelly’s Newfies in the side when he didn’t think anyone was watching. He has been on her s*** list every since.
Dental update – Barb went in yesterday and dentist said she just broke a big corner off where there was an old filling. He gave her a choice: a crown with 2 visits @$750-$800; or take out old filling and do a new one, 1 visit @$150. Which do you think she chose? She goes back on Tuesday.
10:09 am on September 10th, 2011
Laughing here this morning. You furry and non-furry folks are Tip Top today!
Still have to do some work, but YSAS wrote and said “I’m working Monday as a DEAD GUY!” Totally cool. Not for any of the L&L’s it’s a film. But still cool!
OleyHowlers, are you going through the car wash? Is this a way to take showers? Interested here, it would be much easier when washing the Pack.
B.Stover: so it would be a shoppe that rhymes with soap?
Wölfie: I thought Pooh was a bear, not a pig.
10:11 am on September 10th, 2011
Wolfie: I think I like “pooh hugh” too. It sort of says it all!
Howlers: Why does Duke mean nothing but work for you?
Happy Birthday Barb!
10:19 am on September 10th, 2011
Melanie! What? Do you think we are crazy here at Howling Arabians? Of course, only the car(s) get washed! Here is what us huskies get:
Purchase the Best Car Wash Package for $10 which includes a free Car Wash for the Animals tshirt, environmentally friendly reusable shopping bag, and a free entry for great prizes including a Trek Bike and a year’s worth of free car washes!
And the Humane Society gets the money. This car wash is always doing stuff for animals. We love the owner. He even gave Mom barrels for her riding ring.
B: Duke is a 1-year old kid! We will be left with training the brat. You think that will be easy? Mom is undecided if we should do this tho…with that big family reunion coming up.
10:27 am on September 10th, 2011
Melanie, Barb’s actual day in 9/12, but she is dong an early celebration with her family today.
We are still confused. Who is Hugh? Is that the pig that Rio met in Iowa. BTW, we are only 50 miles from Iowa, so we could almost be buckeyes.
10:39 am on September 10th, 2011
We’ll have to ask the ipaw who Hugh Pooh is. When mom typed in Oooohhhhh, the ipaw autocorrected it to Hugh Pooh. Twice.
I think it means something like “Oh Carp”, but I can’t be certain. I am only a blurring dog and do not have the brain power of an ipaw.
We really, really like it though.
10:44 am on September 10th, 2011
Lol, Melanie. I can just picture a parade of Newfs walking through a car wash in a single file line, emerging all wonder fluffed on the other side.
10:53 am on September 10th, 2011
Hugh Pooh indeed. Here is a picture of the 1-yr old. Look for “Duke”:
http://www.berksarl.org/adoptable_pets.htm
We are hoping he was rescued already.
10:58 am on September 10th, 2011
We know what the mistake in pagagraph 5 is, and we haven’t even read the book yet. Only because it hasn’t arrived yet from B & N. We are hoping it will be a b-day present for you know who, who, btw, is older than dirt. The mistake has to do with why Bernie was hired.
Barb is off to the burbs, after picking up Bob. She had a problem with eating something that had a name, but Bob’s folks explained it this way: Bob’s fate was sealed the day he became a steer. He was pampered and wonderfluffed and fed the best of foods for 18 months. He never had to stand in a manure filled feed lot. He had a good life while he was here, better than 99.9% of the cattle that are raised for beef. That made Barb feel a little better.
Youse guys have a good day. BBML!
10:59 am on September 10th, 2011
Duke is awfully cute! I think you howlers ought to give him a chance!
11:03 am on September 10th, 2011
Chet’s post this morning is funny. I don’t think they could get away with using the word shoppes here. I hope not.
Wolfie, prayers for your family.
Fellow Siberians, Duke is a Siber?
I’m glad you guys don’t have to go through the car wash. gah
Happy early birthday Barb! Have Fun!
11:09 am on September 10th, 2011
Woo Woo Duke is one handsome guy! At one year of age, I’m sure he is just a bundle of loveable energy. Mom says he is soooo cute.
11:24 am on September 10th, 2011
The Animal Rescue League seems knowledgeable about Sibers and Border Collies…not all well-meaning rescues are.
11:37 am on September 10th, 2011
Pooh Hugh. Hmmmm Sometimes my computer doesn’t know the words I do. It tells me they don’t exist. But they never force the issue like those IPaws seem too. However I too like pooh hugh.. 🙂
Duke is just as cute as can be. I hope that he has been adopted, but he would be a great addition to the family.
11:42 am on September 10th, 2011
Greetings and Salutations to All!
Reading back last night’s posts…
Oh, Wolfie, hugs and prayers from me. One day your boys will understand the error of their ways, and realize how much of their lives they have wasted.
Rebecca: Hope you are home safe and sound!
OH: Duke is just so very cute. With your guidance, Duke will become a wonderful big boy huskie! Sounds like the doggies get a good bargain at the car! I have to admit, I pictured the Newfs going through the car wash too…LOL!
Kirby: That is one stooooopid place!
Barb: Early birthday greetings from me!!!
Rio: Sounds like a good vacation so far. Maybe llama poop is moisturizing…
Finally, I just couldn’t stand it anymore! I put down “Freedom” and started nooking TDW last night. I’ve been chuckling losts. I’ll have to it it again today…maybe right now!
11:48 am on September 10th, 2011
Duke is a cutie pie! And let’s see 1 year old. Old enough to get in lots of trouble and young enough to be forgiven.
That is forgiven by the non furry folks. I think the OH Pack might have a thing or two to say about any trouble!
11:49 am on September 10th, 2011
How do you lose chuckles?
11:51 am on September 10th, 2011
Good Day All!
B: Always liked the spelling of shoppe for shop. Now, knowing that it is pronounced that way – not so much.
Wolfie & Rio and Barb too. Sad issues to contend with in their families. Seems such a waster of a life, but we all make our choices. Our prayers for everyone coping with the fall-out. For those principal family members too who seem blissfully uncaring of the drama they create as they continue attempting to escape from life’s challenges.
Barb: That’s very good news about the tooth. Enjoy your early B-Day celebration!
O.Howlers: Your mom and pop are the best with all they do for good causes. And, yes training that little guy could be a full time job for a while. Good thing puppies sleep a lot. But wait. Getting ahead of ourselves here. He hasn’t even joined the pack yet.
SnowBella: Hope you are now home safe and sound. Little Rio Jr. and the others will be very happy to see you.
12:14 pm on September 10th, 2011
Hello Friends!
Howlers: That little guy is very cute! If he joined your pack it would even out to 2 boys and 2 girls. Did you ever think of that? But I’m wondering how Buddy and TC will cope. The latter may become even more reclusive.
Well, Rio, I see you may have had storms of a different nature yesterday. Sometimes those types are not in any forecast, weather or otherwise. And, not getting bites…that is just unforgivable with all the yummy food at the BBQ.
12:39 pm on September 10th, 2011
Wolfie: When I Ask what Hugh Pooh means it says “did you mean Pooh Hug?” That has a nice ring to it too.
12:50 pm on September 10th, 2011
Dead!….Kevin Costner started out as a dead-guy!…heh!…Clarkson will be so much bigger than Costner, just you guys wait!…snort!
Friends!…Here are some of my new friends I just met last night!…heh!… After this my friend and I have to get ready to leave again and go out to the Animal Farm!…Woooooo!…I love, love, love, that place!…snort!
LLAMA!…heh!
12:58 pm on September 10th, 2011
Henry!…The Pot-Bellied Pig….grunt!grunt!… My friend says he sounds a lot like me!…heh!
2:14 pm on September 10th, 2011
Heh! Rio, Love your pictures of Animal Farm!
2:22 pm on September 10th, 2011
The llama is really posing for the camera. The llama is cute… Henry, not so much.
2:27 pm on September 10th, 2011
Pooh Hug. I like that.
2:42 pm on September 10th, 2011
Rio, we love Henry and the llama…what is his name?
Masquers, I really really really want another husky brother, but T.C. says she will be packing her bags and moving out. hmmm wonder what she is going to pack in those bags?
2:57 pm on September 10th, 2011
Llamas are always photogenic because they has such long eyelashes.
Shoppe is not pronounced “soap.” It’s pronounced “shop.” The “e” on the end of a word does not always make the first vowel long. For example, some is pronounced sum. (It is derived from the Old English “sum.”) Sometimes scribes apparently put “e” on the end of words to fill space. The problem of course is that spelling didn’t start getting standardized until dictionaries started being published in the 17th century. English spelling was not really standardized until the 19th century.
I’ve been having fun finding the derivation of “shop.” It’s from Old English “sceoppa” meaning booth in the sense of a place to trade or sell work. It was spelled “shoppe” during the Middle English period and that’s the way Chaucer spelled it. I assume that it was after The Great Vowel Shift (sometime after 1400 when Chaucer died) that we dropped the “pe” at the end…but I’m not sure why. Pondering and possibly more research is needed.
2:58 pm on September 10th, 2011
I’m laughing at my “they has”…..pooh hugh!
3:09 pm on September 10th, 2011
Duke is beautiful.
3:48 pm on September 10th, 2011
B.Stover, I think that it should still rhyme with soap!
After working all afternoon and swearing a few times, I have managed to find my OLD photoshoppe and put it on the older computer upstairs.
Not as many belles and whistles but it works.
4:07 pm on September 10th, 2011
Melanie: We can pronounce it to rhyme with soap if you want!
Here’s a neat site that lets one hear Middle English pronunciation:
http://eweb.furman.edu/~mmenzer/gvs/chaucer.htm
4:21 pm on September 10th, 2011
Greetings my friends – ve vish Barb a happy birthday and happy teeth.
Rio – do not fall in love vith llama. Ve know how you are about those long eyelashes.
Howlers – that Duke is very cute, and dukes tend to be less trouble than princes or counts.
Did you also see Mumford the Puggle. oooo, Natasha is in love.
4:31 pm on September 10th, 2011
Natasha: In what way are dukes less trouble than princes or counts?
4:39 pm on September 10th, 2011
Mom swam to the mailbox
Right thru the moat
And there was this package…
No sign of a goat!
Mom opened the package,
Pop said it was awesome.
Mom squealed in delight,
“Its White Wings from Dawson”.
4:41 pm on September 10th, 2011
No Duke here yet. We called and learned that Tails of the Tundra Sibe Rescue is picking him up. Mom has a call into them…
4:45 pm on September 10th, 2011
B- vhen somevon is in trouble, do you ever hear them say “put up your princes” or “put up your counts”
No, they alvays say” put up your Dukes”, so Dukes must be better.
4:53 pm on September 10th, 2011
Natasha,
I like your logic.
5:04 pm on September 10th, 2011
You’re in good rhyme today Buddy and TC. (Similar to being in good voice.) Like the poem.
5:07 pm on September 10th, 2011
Melanie: LOL!!!! Haven’t lost any chuckles!!! But chuckling LOTS as I’m reading DW. That Chet!
Rio: I really like the llama. Seems very gentle. Does he/she have a name?
Going out to dinner with the Prof to celebrate my new job.
FINALLY B&N has the book on display!!!
Can’t wait to get my signed copy!!!!
5:23 pm on September 10th, 2011
“Put up your dukes” is from rhyming slang or gypsies.
5:24 pm on September 10th, 2011
Hey, y’all! Mom and Dad just got back from their party. They put my special collar on before they left, but they also should have left the tv on for me, because I wasn’t sending positive vibes at the right times. We ended up losing in TRIPLE OVERTIME! So sad.
B&M: When Mom’s family first moved from California to Iowa, they got two hogs they named Felix and Oscar — the Odd Couple. One morning at breakfast Mom passed around a platter of bacon, and then calmly announced that it was Felix. Mom and my uncles lost their appetite at that point!
And Barb, if you want to be a buckeye (but who would?) you have to move to the Ohio border. Otherwise, you can be an honorary HAWKEYE!
5:25 pm on September 10th, 2011
Rose: I must have missed something — what is your new job?
5:31 pm on September 10th, 2011
Buddy: An excellent poem! Speedy arrival time. It appears the Canadian Postal Service doesn’t care what goes out of the country only what come in. So maybe Dawson should send us all presents not the other way around. Just a thought.
Howlers: So Duke is a maybe? Tell TC to chill. Let’s not be hasty here.
6:03 pm on September 10th, 2011
Definition time:
A one “l” lama: A Tibetan High Priest
A two “l” llama: A South American Camelid
A Three “l” lama? A Huge South Boston Fire
6:11 pm on September 10th, 2011
Melanie, we don’t quite get the lllama.
We forgot to tell you about the great car wash. We always love car washes…lots of noise and splashing and spongy stuff. Its really fun in our huskymobile which has a sunroof so we can watch it up above. But the best part of the car wash….ICE CREAM !
6:28 pm on September 10th, 2011
Kirby – Why would your Mom and Dad put your special collar on when they leave you home to go to a party?
6:32 pm on September 10th, 2011
Darn, maybe you have to be from MA.
South Boston accent . . .
“A three alarm fire” would be “a three l’ama”.
Tried to find anything about the accent. Best thing I could find was Matt Damon in “Good Will Hunting”.
6:36 pm on September 10th, 2011
O.K. we get the accent! 3-lllama is funny!
Kirby, Mom & Pop put our N.D. collars on too. They are going out tonite, so we won’t get to watch the game until later (on the DVR as if it were live). So meantime, we will have our collars on, hopefully for good luck.
7:04 pm on September 10th, 2011
Mollypop: Just like the Howlers said — my special Hawkeye collar brings luck to the team. Except today. It didn’t work. Maybe it’s cuz I wasn’t watching the game so I couldn’t send extra special luck when they needed it!!!
7:04 pm on September 10th, 2011
Melanie: Don’t worry — Mom got it! I guess it’s because she used to live at Fort Drum, so she gets the Boston accent!
7:15 pm on September 10th, 2011
Greetings from Willow! I made it home last night around 10:00. I ended up doing chores in the dark as AJ hasn’t had the chance to put up the yard lights, yet. I got a bit spooked walking back up to the house. AJ is on his way home and should be home in a few hours—I can’t wait!
Rio: Had I known you would take such a liking to llamas, I would have told you that in my younger days, I owned a herd, but that’s a story for another time. Don’t underestimate your new friend—llamas are dog smart, though I can’t speak to the intelligence of a three lama fire.:)
KirbyT: I tried posting last night, but didn’t see it. Sorry to hear about the loss last night, but it sounds like you dad’s coaching was worth his weight in dog treats.
Oley Howlers: Yes to Duke! Speaking of brining home new friends, I wonder how upset AJ would be if I brought home a St. Bernie pup I saw earlier today…
7:20 pm on September 10th, 2011
Rebecca: Did I hear dog treats? As for the St. Bernard pup, I say go for it! Grandpa had one when Mom was in high school, and Brandy was a good dog! Tell AJ if he goes off-course during the Iditarod, you’ll send the pup out with a cask of brandy around its neck to save the day!!!
7:26 pm on September 10th, 2011
KirbyT: I’m pretty sure, I could keep the St. Bernie pup for a little while, but not as long as I hid Howard—that was almost a full 24 effort.
Rose: New job? Congratulations!
7:55 pm on September 10th, 2011
Message for Rio:
The Rockies beat the Reds 12-7. WOO WOO
The new guy from Albuquerque, Pacheco, hit a home run! WOO WOO
8:12 pm on September 10th, 2011
Kirby – not such a good day for the Big 10, so far. Purdue lost to Rice.
Rose – let us know what your new job is, please?
Rio – thanks for the travelog. Farm animals are terrific.
8:24 pm on September 10th, 2011
Dear Rose,
I trust your new job won’t get in the way of adoring me.
Cordially yours in all things belly rub,
Belle Starr
8:26 pm on September 10th, 2011
SnowBella: Tell AJ to get those yard lights in first chance. We don’t like the idea of you walking around in the dark. Glad you made it home okay.
Melanie: Woof! I got it. I did. The (3) lllama fire.
Yes, Rose. What is your new job? You didn’t say. Only that you and the Prof were celebrating.
Still waiting to hear from the O.Howlers about Duke…..
8:31 pm on September 10th, 2011
Whew! Look at the time. I thought for sure I’d be in bed by 8 pm and it’s 8:30!
Amazing . . .
I’ll have to reread everything from the last hour or so in the morning, I’m too tired to take much in . . .
So TTFN
Has anyone heard from Macy? I’m worried about those fires.
8:39 pm on September 10th, 2011
Well, shucks. I just spoke with AJ on the phone and he said no to getting a St. Bernie pup. No surprise really. I think my first mistake was asking rather than just doing…
8:48 pm on September 10th, 2011
I am concerned about Macy too.
Hope she checks in soon.
Talk to y’all in am.
8:59 pm on September 10th, 2011
Macy said a few days ago that she lived in the city. The fires would have to burn across concrete and asphalt, which they won’t do. I hope she isn’t having to deal with a lot of smoke from the fires.
Congratulations on your new job, Rose!! They made a very intelligent choice when they hired you.
9:09 pm on September 10th, 2011
Belle Starr.
It doesn’t work well with husbands so I usually don’t use it on mine, but Act first, apologize later. 😀
9:22 pm on September 10th, 2011
Staff: that last post was actually from me—a hazard of sharing. Belle Starr mastered the do-then-apologize method long ago. I should have known better than to ask AJ—it was a rookie mistake.
9:33 pm on September 10th, 2011
What was that all about? Trying to say we’re turning in for the night and didn’t mention c-s-s-i-n-o-s / s-h-o-e-s / or
s-l-i-p-p-e-r-s, but somehow got moderated.
Good night – Bear
9:49 pm on September 10th, 2011
Hey! Do any of you read John Hart? Mom just finished his latest book, Iron House. She really likes his writing. She read one sentence and thought, “Wow. That’s good.” See what you think.
“Jimmy took a deep breath, and smelled all the places he could bury a man.”
10:12 pm on September 10th, 2011
Kirby, yes, mom has read his books. She hasn’t read his newest one so it is good to know your mom liked it. My mom will read it sooner or later…probably sooner since you just reminded her of it.
10:29 pm on September 10th, 2011
Good evening Plunderers. We are back but now it is almost bed time. Barb brought me a smoked bone, and some home made organic doogie treats from the farmer’s market in Woodstock. When she asked for treats for her birthday, Josh went all out. I have to wait for the treats, because I got the bone tonight.
Barb says she got buckeyes and hawkeyes mixed up. A buckeye is a tree, right? What is a Hawkeye, other than an Iowa fan? So confusing.
Barb saays she needs ice cream. Be back tomorrow morning.
10:41 pm on September 10th, 2011
Night All
10:43 pm on September 10th, 2011
I did it! I signed up for another writing class. It’s not until October, but I’m excited.
B&M: It sounds like you’ve got life figured out—getting presents on someone else’s birthday!
10:58 pm on September 10th, 2011
Good for you, Rebecca! Does this mean we can expect some more stories?
11:15 pm on September 10th, 2011
Finished!….My friend said she has had it Up To Here and tomorrow we will be spending the day at the hotel instead of enduring another aggravating frustrating maddening day with those people out on the animal farm…snort!….Great! Maybe we will finally get to read some of Spencer’s new book…heh!…I will get to rest, she can go work-out and eat breakfast when she wants to…sniff!…Then we can just hang out here, relax and have fun reading….woooo!….This is a very good plan. I don’t think my friend’s stomach can handle any more aggravation on this trip…wuffle!
11:18 pm on September 10th, 2011
Rio: Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do — and if ya gotta rest and read, so be it!
11:18 pm on September 10th, 2011
Dogs are barking—AJ must be pulling up the drive!

Duke!…That name seriously does not fit that guy…snort!…He needs one of those weird names all the other Howlers have…heh!…Then he will fit right in with that group…snorkel!

Rebecca!…Say, “Yeep!” to the Giant for me!…snort!

There’s just one problem with the name Duke. Mom and Dad found a scrawny little puppy at the animal shelter once, and they named him Duke after Dad’s favorite actor, John Wayne. It was kind of a joke when they named him, but then he grew into his name! I never met him, because he went over the rainbow bridge when my boy was just a little kid.

Kirby!….Someone here tried to find an suitable Iowa tee-shirt to buy today, but failed…snort!…There was not that many choices at the Wally-Mart here in this little town…sniff!…So she came out empty handed. What is the symbol for the Hawkeyes anyways? That would probably help a lot knowing that bit of info…wuffle!

Rio: The giant is out with the dogs right now. I’m not sure who is happier to see the other. I can’t wait for your friend to meet the team in March!

March!….That is such a long way away, but I have to keep reminding my friend of the Fun Trip coming up…heh!…Once we get this episode over and done with and back to our home and routine things will be better….sniff!…All this upset over stupid self-centered people is not worth it.
Traveling!….Speaking of traveling, Spencer and Admin must be on a whirl-wind tour of some kind…snort!….The kind of tour that never leaves New England…grunt!…I hope they are getting enough water and rest. Admin might get a tad cranky on trips like this…chorkel!

Thanks for the concern everyone. Siber H is correct, we are in no danger from wild fires, but we may be SOL regarding water. All the lakes are drying up, and so much water is being used on the fires. Bernie would really worry if he saw conditions around here. And now the cherry on top, the weatherkat just said that on Wed. we will break the record for day over 100, at 70. At least it is cooling down a little at night. Mom even got off the couch a couple of nights this week and took me for a (very short) walk. Annie and I rousted a possum out of our neighbors bushes. This morning animal control picked him up for release north of town. I hope that we did not contribute to his eviction. We loved to bark at him when he ran down the top of our fence.
Hugs to Wookie’s mom.
Dainty licks to Mr. Redbone.
lol@ Rebecca’s idea for putting out fires.

Never Fear!…snort!…. There is always something happening or getting ready to happen on this here blog….snort!…Lots of things will happen between now and the end of February. Good things, bad things, in-between things….wheeze!… This blog is an evolving community. As long as we remember that and still continue to enjoy the fellowship it provides on a daily basis even though we squabble and bite sometimes amongst ourselves, it will continue to be a community. Hopefully, our author enjoys and feels connected to it also…sniff!

Thank you for this beautiful popscsritt. Your story moved me immensely and this even more so. I always hope when I hear women say I’m not thinking about the birth, it’ll all be fine, I haven’t done any reading/research/watched or read any birth stories that they are often disempowering themselves. I know I did with my first birth. I had done some research but like you hadn’t actually practiced’. Prolonged prodromal and a very long labour undid me. It’s not about luck it’s about body awareness.Again thank you. Yours is a powerful story. xxx

This is so incredibly hlpeful to me! Thank you so much for sharing! I just had the epiphany myself that I fought my body during labor instead of trusting it. I am due again in September and I am doing LOTS of reading in an effort to learn from others’ stories and gain a mindset that will let me trust my body.I am also relieved to find that I am not the only one who had a difficult first birthing experience.
