Titles, Anybody?
“Two more days to submit title suggestions for book 7 in the Chet & Bernie Mystery Series (until 11/13),” Admin says. “Just email to spencerquinntitles@gmail.com with the title in the subject line. Here’s what you need to know: The seventh Chet and Bernie mystery (Fall 2014) takes place in Washington, D.C. The Little Detective Agency gets caught up in a lethal conspiracy with international implications that reaches the highest levels of power. A perfect title for this story would have been The Dog Who Came in from the Cold. But it’s already taken! (By Alexander McCall Smith.) There’s also a Russian angle, actually a sort of Russian bombshell angle. Plus a potential presidential candidate with a secret. And – “
“Spoiler alert!” says Spence.

Good morning, everyone! Rio looks like he’s been busy thinking up titles (along with 20 million other members of the nation within?). Seems like yeaterday was a bit blustery for many of you. We know CHobbit had snow to shovel amd maybe Dawson, Staff, HRH B and MPM. Hava MA and PA gotten powered yet? One more question, has anyone ever gotten to shovel “partly cloudy” our of their drive way?
Have a tip top, tumbrel (for the snow) Tuesday!
8:42 am on November 12th, 2013
I already sent in a title suggestion.
We have a dusting of snow on everything and the wind chill is 14 degrees.
Good morning all.
9:18 am on November 12th, 2013
Good morning!
We are going to try to come up with one more title.
Did youse know that Corgies are set to be on the extinction list?

Dear Friend’s on Chet’s Blog,
Grace has let us know that it is almost time for her trip over the Rainbow Bridge.
We are selfishly keeping her one more day with us. A trip to the river is planned, a car ride and pumpkins.
Tomorrow she will be with The Raven, The Newf Pack that has gone on ahead, and her Chet the Dog’s Pack who are waiting on the other side.
She’s our big, drooly Sweetheart.

Melanie , sorry to hear this but you had said it was coming. Glad to hear she will be spoiled more rotten today!

Melanie&Zoe: Enjoy Gracie for this last special day. She has given this blog so much joy and will be sorely missed by all. Hugs and meatballs.

Grace: warm and cuddly, mother of adorable, squirmy, wriggling puppies, bringer of laughter, drier of tears, soft and elegant, wet and silly, running and barking for the sheer delight of it, eyes bright with mischief and with love, perfector of the proper irresistible belly-rub position, sweet, beautiful and beloved.
Thank you Grace for being a part of all our lives. We wish you great joy and adventure on your travels. May there be apple trees aplenty on the other side.
10:35 am on November 12th, 2013
Melanie, We are so sorry to hear that the time has come for Gracie’s trip over The Bridge. Enjoy every moment of your day with her.
We will not be submitting any names, as we are not very good at that venue. But we are intrigued with the Russian bombshell. Could it be that certain someone we know?
11:11 am on November 12th, 2013
Love you, Gracie.
11:17 am on November 12th, 2013
Dear Gracie,
We trust your trip over the bridge will be easy and that you will meet many friends, old and new, on the other side. Thank you for your time with us.

I’m so sorry, Melanie & Zoe. Hugs and purrs to you both.
Godspeed, Grace. You will be missed.

I have put up three different titles. All sort of boring. Sniff.
Oh well.
Have to go get ready for quilting tonight.
See y’all later.

Grace — What a perfect name for a perfect lady. The love and joy that you have brought will live long after your trip across the bridge. Please be at peace and know how much you have been loved and how much you will be missed, while those who have crossed before you will be waiting with open arms and paws.
12:14 pm on November 12th, 2013
Melanie and Zoe: I am so sorry. Gracie will be missed here on the blog, but she will be reunited with many friends, and the Raven at the rainbow gates. Many hugs to you both.
God bless, Gracie!

Thanks to a VSP (Very Special Plunderer) I am official open for guests!

2:15 pm on November 12th, 2013
That sign is super-cool! What Mom wants to know is if there is a restaurant in that hotel so she can stop for her meals. 🙂 There were a few of your guests talking about how they can’t wait to cook. That would most definitely NOT be our mom!

Breaking weather news from Chattanooga, TN
Temperature steadily falling throughout the day. Morning mid 50’s, Late afternoon in the 30’s. Expect a low of 28 and the wind chill will make it feel like 18. A 60% chance of precipitation. A light dusting of snow is possible.
Gah…this is new, not expected, frigid. Mom is bringing in fire wood, stacking t.p. rolls as starters and checking that the flue is open.
2:43 pm on November 12th, 2013
Howlers – thank you for alerting the world to the importance of Corgis. Truly, life would not be possible without us.
tee hee

O’Howlers: a recent guest and I ate our way through Anchorage: five restaurants in two days. So this is a cooking optional hotel.
With the onset of winter, Sadie has unleashed her inner sled dog. She is pulling me down streets and across parking lots whether they are plowed or not. After weeks of walking on a leash, apparently said leash has turned into a gangline in her warped brain.
4:42 pm on November 12th, 2013
CHobbit: Mom needs to “speak” to you but doesn’t have your “address”. Could you send it to me?
5:34 pm on November 12th, 2013
C.Hobbit! “Cooking is Optional” is music to Mom’s ears. We are surprised that any of you want to cook on vacation, especially after looking at the Anchorage website that Staff posted the other day. Seafood Seafood Seafood !!!!!!

IF Barb goes (still no definite decision here), she is leaning towards minimal cooking. Maybe breakfast and/or lunch, but dinner out for sure. Could even try elk or moose, just not the moose head stew. Barb’s concern is flying out of Chi-town at that time of year and the weather problems (remember Wose’s and Grizz’s layovers last year?)
Now she is heading over to Josh and Jessica’s for dinner. BBT.
We will be thinking about Grace tonight, and will be keeping her close to our hearts.

HOH: I don’t know your SDD but I am listed in the Dishlicker’s yahoo account under Contacts.
Rio: your package arrived safe and sound and it all its glory. It is even more beautiful than the photo you posted. I can’t wait to hang it up. SDD you later.

We had a good day today. Took The Pack out to the river. 30 degrees and she went swimming. Brrr.
The v e t comes at 11 am. It is hard. She is everything that Golinka said and more.
She was the dog I was going to grow old with. I wouldn’t change her for the world.
Might not be on tomorrow. Zoë and I appreciate all that has been said.
7:00 pm on November 12th, 2013
CHobbit: That Hotel sign is wonderful and welcoming and with seafood restaurants nearby, business will be brisk.
7:17 pm on November 12th, 2013
Melanie, I’m so sorry to read about Grace. I’m sure Kirby T. knows the ropes by now and will be happy to show her around. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and Zoe.
7:45 pm on November 12th, 2013
Wonderful picture, Melanie. We are glad you got to spend the day on the river with Grace.
Mom is freezing here…how on earth is she going to survive Alaska? You tell us.
We are off to T.V. Land and then bed. Good night.
7:58 pm on November 12th, 2013
Melanie: That picture of Amazing Grace gives me goosebumps.
8:06 pm on November 12th, 2013
Melanie: That picture of Amazing Grace reminds me of Darah Thea. (today)
36F now. Going to 24 overnight here. With wind chill in the a.m.should feel like 18 🙁 Brrrrr.
8:10 pm on November 12th, 2013
Grace!…So long old pal, see youse on the other side one day…sniffle!snuffle!…Take care of Melanie and Zoe tomorrow…wheeze!
8:11 pm on November 12th, 2013
Hobbit!…The Hobbit Hotel has an officially wonderful sign now….wheeze!…That has the earmarks of a certain Golinka I do believe…heh!heh!
8:14 pm on November 12th, 2013
CHobbit: Have you considered an environmentally yetchy snowblower? Maybe you could blow little neighbor puppy poo back at them!
8:42 pm on November 12th, 2013
we here love the Hobbit Hotel sign too, but Mama swears on a SlimJim that she had nothing to do with it. She is wondering if the Plunderer Extraordinaire would be willing to speak about the origin of the sign – maybe even an anonymous post on this here blog if it perhaps came from a website? Or do we have an artist in our midst?
8:55 pm on November 12th, 2013
That is a beautiful picture, Melanie. It is so peaceful.
9:10 pm on November 12th, 2013
Melanie: Wonderful photo. It sounds like Grace et al had a perfect day. That is the best. Bacon & eggs for everyone tomorrow morning????
HOH: Puppy poo neighbor lives across the street rather than next door. Otherwise that is a great idea. For some reason I have always resisted getting a snow blower. I think of shoveling as exercise. Also, for some reason my mother enjoyed shoveling snow so it gives me the opportunity to think of her when I am shoveling.
9:14 pm on November 12th, 2013
I looked on the mailing label and the Hobbit sign came from Meissenburg Designs (a vintage sign maker). Lots of categories on the site.

Hotel!…I want to visit that Hobbit Hotel one day…snort!
CHobbit!…Someone is very relieved to find out the Christmas Tree arrived safe and sound with all its limbs intact…chuffle!
9:15 pm on November 12th, 2013
Daintiest of licks to Gracie for her journey. And all-you-can-stand licks for Melanie and Zoe.
9:19 pm on November 12th, 2013
CHobbit: Mom views a snowblower as bad karma. Her Grandpa V. lived in Des Moines, IA and bought a blower in the late 60’s and Des Moines had about 7 years of cold, dry winters. NO Snow to speak of. So dry that when mom and her little bro came for Christmas there was no white stuff, so Grandma put h2o in the gutter to freeze so they could sled. Now you know why HOH is so weird!
10:03 pm on November 12th, 2013
Grace, you good girl, never forget how much you are loved. We will do our best with Melanie and Zoe while your’re on the other side of the Bridge. Head bumps and love.
KirbyT’s Maw: it is so good to see you on the blog.
10:17 pm on November 12th, 2013
Mama Luna!….Where prey tail is our Rebecca tonight?…sniff!…Is she on the Top of the World again? Does she ever bring dawggie-bags home from that place for all the kennel?…wheeze!burp!
10:29 pm on November 12th, 2013
Rio: She is staying in town tonight because her flight leaves at the crack of dark in the morning. She has yet to bring a doggie back home with her. She does take food with her when she leaves us for parts unknown.
10:33 pm on November 12th, 2013
Unknown!….Parts unknown!…grump!…How the heck am I supposed to track her down and call her in the middle of the night on my little Go Phone?…sniff!
10:42 pm on November 12th, 2013
Rio: Her phone doesn’t always have reception for calls when she is way up there. The Giant does not like the infrequent communication, no he does not. You can text her from your little Go-phone just like the Giant does. It is better than nothing.
10:47 pm on November 12th, 2013
Luna!…Grunt!…She is always gone and I cannot make plans for the Holiday Boutique…sniff!…I’m becoming dis-grunt-led…wheeze!
10:58 pm on November 12th, 2013
Rio: The holiday boutique has been weighing on her mind. Yeep! She will send you a SDD about it later tonight or my nickname isn’t Luna McBoonapants.
10:58 pm on November 12th, 2013
Luna!….I am not disgruntled with Rebecca, but I am disgruntled with my lack of plans…sniff!….I am a pug who needs plans…wuffle!…I feel plan-less regarding the Holiday Boutique…gasp!
11:01 pm on November 12th, 2013
Weight!…It weighs on me too and I definitely do not need any more weight to weigh me down…wheeze!…I will try to become plan-less and see how it feels….gurgle!
11:03 pm on November 12th, 2013
McBoonapants!….Heh!Snort!heh!…That is some nickname Mama Luna!…chorkel!
11:12 pm on November 12th, 2013
Rio: That nickname found me when I was but a pup. It pulled up a chair and never left.
11:20 pm on November 12th, 2013
Nickname!…It is good but it does have a lot of letters innit…grunt!
Nana!…For some reason Nana has been on my flat pug mind all day long….sniffle!…I sure hope she is doing okay.
11:35 pm on November 12th, 2013
Goodnight!…All youse guys…sniff!…Our thoughts are with Melanie and Zoe tonight. Oh, and of course our Nana….snuffle!…Off to my warm soft bed. Beau is already up there in his cold hard bed with his four paws in the air…grunt!
11:40 pm on November 12th, 2013
Rio: Check your SDD as soon as your pugself wakes up!
I am thinking of all youse tonight and will be doing so the rest of the week. Tomorrow morning is going to come here all too quickly. Night.
12:25 am on November 13th, 2013
All youse traveling north to Alaska or thinking about it, please check the Dishlicker SDD. There is very important informaiton waiting for youse.
B&M: No need to be sitting on the ‘still deciding’ bench about the trip north to Alaska. We have decided for you. You, you, you will be coming north to see us, us, us. We won the battle to be your escorts. We can’t wait to show you our harnesses, our feed bucket, and manners that belong to someone else. You’re coming. Case closed. 🙂
