5pm Pacific. Youtube. Got it and thanks.
Looking forward to them all. Andy Carpenter has been on my amazon list for a while but I’ve never gotten around to one of this books yet. I did see that road trip one first and was tempted so it went on the list first. 20 Andy Carpenters? I’m amazed he came up with 20 titles. Creating titles for anything has always been a problem for me.
Meanwhile looks like I have saved another life. Last night Diana was making a fuss around a stack of Home Depot 5 gal buckets. I was expecting a mouse but what do I see in the bottom of a bucket? One of our little brown jobs all wet. There was maybe half an inch of water in the bucket and I guess he flew down for a drink or to get a bath and was so wet couldn’t fly out. So I carefully poured out the water and tipped him on to a dust pan. I put him up on a box on a table but Diana was way too interested so I moved him to a high branch on a rose bush and kept an eye on him as it was already dusk. I checked on him later and he was still damp and shivering. A bit later and he had falled and Diana was standing over him but thankfully not “playing” with him. I scooped him back up on the dust pan and brought him in the house and put him in the oven. Don’t panic. I have a 1954 O’Keefe and Merrit gas range and the pilot is always on so the inside is always warm. And it certainly isn’t air tight. I checked on him a bit later and he was drying out so I put a colander over him in case he decided to fly and opened the oven door and moved him to the door. Plenty warm enough there. The dogs spent the night outside (64 was the low), I turned out the lights and went to bed after checking on him. He was sleeping with his head tucked. I cut off the bottom of a small plastic bottle and left him some water.
This morning he seemed just fine. I picked up the whole lot and took him out and put it on the railing of the kitchen stoop and went to feed the dogs. He just sat there. But when I came back he flutter to the ground of the planter. It’s ringed with various pots so the dogs can’t get in. Both wings appeared to work and I saw him scurry under the plants. Just now I checked and can’t see him at all so he must have flown off. What he could find to eat down there I’m not sure but apparently enough to get some energy to fly off.
Meanwhile, even though I have rebagged three bags of trash who is the destructive one? Diana has eaten another hole in her Coolaroo bed. Why? The Bobo fell under it and rather than lay down and push the bed up and push under to get it, she digs a whole directly through the cover. I think this is the fourth or fifth cover I’ve put on that bed. I keep a ready supply of replacements just for this purpose. But she is going to sleep on that cover until the hole is so big she can’t fit. Maybe she’ll eventually buy a clue and stop doing it. I just hope she doesn’t take over Freyja’s smaller bed and then do the exact same thing. The last thing I need is her teaching Freyja to chew up her bed.
And no, I’m not returning Diana because she is destructive either. This is what dogs do and you just learn to live with it.
Oh, and she broke another bud off of my Flaming Peace rose. Lethal tail.

Speaking of saving a life in an oven… I am old and I was born two months prematurely and weighted 3 lb 10 oz. My mom put me in a shoebox with a piece of glass partially over the top and put me in the oven. Fed me with an eyedropper every 2 hours. Amazing that I am here especially with the middle sister one year older who was multiply handicapped. My middle sister died at 5 years old when I was four. My parents had finally qualified to place her in a care facility where she caught something and died. I still have nice memories of her even though she never talked or walked.
