Dawson, I hope the bat is gone. Mom and dad had a bat in the bedroom while they were sleeping and they mistakenly left it out. Then they had to go for rabies shots. Because they had been sleeping it was unknown whether they have been bitten or not.

Yeep! My Lady has pulled an all-nighter trying to put the finishing touches on the MMSB. She tried blowing on the paint to make it dry faster, but had to stop when she got dizzy. Personally, I thought she was immitating Beau taking a nap with his paws pointed skyward. There are a lot of great items and more to be added, I’m sure, but I have a suggestion—don’t lean against the walls. I’ve made the mistake of leaning against wet paint once, maybe twice, and spent a week half color me and half green.

Those Maremma Sheep Dogs are good looking. Thanks Wookie’s Dad and Spencer.

Princess Sam: I am sure I would know if that bat bit me! Wouldn’t I? It is nowhere to be seen. I got up at 4 in the morning and turned on all the lights to wake him up and opened all the doors to let him out but I never saw him. Of course, I was back upstairs with my door locked for 1/2 hour. Then I shut everything up, turned off the lights and went back to bed. I’m trying to act normally but I am sure that bat is lurking here somewhere. Oh, and I think I found that insect that scared me. It was on the door to the upstairs and fell off when I closed the door. It has a glass jar over it and is waiting for Turtleman. I did not look too closely. It looks like a small June bug and it may be dead.

    HOH: Yes! Spring Boutigue Saturday

Good morning. Great story. Thanks Spence and Wookie’s Dad. We here wish those poachers would become an endangered spieces.

Rainy and cool here this morning, but it is supposed to get better this afternoon, and then strong, damaging storms possible tonight.

Snowhook Bella: We won’t lean against the walls. Try to get a nap in before opening time.

Dawson, the problem with a bat biting you is if it’s in the room while you were sleeping. Then you wouldn’t know if you had been bitten or not. Mom and dad were sleeping and the bat flying around the bedroom woke them up. What they should have done was killed the bat and taken it to be tested for rabies. They didn’t and so they had to have rabies shots.

    10:48 am on June 15th, 2013

Princess Sam: Hmmm. Yes, I’ve been reading about bats. How do they suggest you kill the bat? This one article says to trap it in a container then put the lid on it and take it for testing. Seems to me I would have a better chance of getting bit if I tried to trap or kill the bat rather than leaving it alone to find its own way out. I do think I would feel the bat fluttering on or by me if it was going to bite me. Even if I was sleeping. Still no sign of the bat today.
Last year when this happened, there were 2 bat invasions then no more. Both of those times I saw the bat leave the house.

A friend said that if you know where the bat is, get out your tennis racket, annoy the bat to get it flying and lob it over the net. Oh, hit it and stun it, then put it in a container and take to be tested.

Thanks for the article, Spence and Wookie’s dad.

Dawson, I think you need to pay attention to what Sam is saying.
I sure didn’t know that a bat could bite a person while they were sleeping and the person would not know it.

    Greetings!

I am so ready for today’s GRAND OPENING!

BATGIRL! Dawson you are a whole lot braver than me!

RIO! Yes, I was already in dream land when those messages landed in my SDD. But they have been read, and responded to. Please tell your friend to announce the Have Harness. She definitely should be the one.

Staff: Would love one of Turtleman’s passports!!!

Great story up top. Thanks Wookie’s Dad and Spence. Beautiful dogs! I love penquins!

Dawson – how to know if you have been bat bit:
    1. Can you see youself in a mirror?
    2. Can you take a deep whiff of garlic bread
    3. Are you still standing on your feet as opposed to hanging by them?

If you can answer yes to all three, you are probably ok.

  14. Barb & Maggie
    11:26 am on June 15th, 2013

We would not kill the bat unless we had to. They are supposed to be very beneficial, eating thousands of insects every night. Around here people put up bat houses trying to attract them. At certain times of the year, when they have their babies, it is not legal for the “pest control” people to come in and trap them.

I have been such a ditz lately, planning my move. I don’t know how Barb and Carol have handled this so well. I was the first one to submit an item to Melanie, feeling very proud of myself for being so on top of everything, when I was told that was an item for the auction, not the boutique.

Umm and oh boy. After you put in your name and address the next page is the payment page. There is an option there that gives you a choice to pay using paypal or a credit card. It is all in rather small print. I have always paid this way if I pay online.

SiberH!….Just to clarify, PayPal asks you if you want to use your PayPal account to buy stuff or your credit card…snort!…If you were like Snowhook and had an account that money from Auctions and Spring Boutiques was going into, you could opt to use the money in that account to pay for your purchases…chuffle!…Does that make sense?

  35. Riö - The Evil Pug

  40. Siber-H

No, lol, I do not have a paypal account. It is paypal taking care of the money part of the sale, but the information is never remembered on the Snowhook site. I have to fill out the credit card information everytime I buy from Snowhook.
It is paypal sending me the email that my order is confirmed.
On the Snowhook site, after I fill out the credit card information, the next page that comes up asks me if I want to open a paypal account. I always click on the “No Thanks”.

If I had a paypal account, I would have a password with them, and I do not.

Bats can eat 1,000 mosquitoes in an hour. I have been bitten by several mosquitoes in the past couple days and no bats. I will not be killing any bat that is not actively engaged in attacking me. I am sitting here waiting for the bat to appear. I will be as brave as Rose thinks I am and open the door and let him out. There is a slim possibility the bat is already gone. By the way, it was a June bug that scared me. Turtleman took it as a special treat for his turtle.

I do not understand why I got the first hockey game but not this one.

Hey Dawson – Mama finally got home and we got to see your dilemma with the bat. What you need is an all powerful, mighty, hunting KAT!
And just so you know, bats can wedge themselves into tiny, itty-bitty places – places no bigger around than a quarter.
So – does that make you feel all comfortable about sleeping tonight?

Another thing Dawson – everyone knows that the harmless little bats that would never dream of biting anyone make a squeaking sound when they fly.

The deadly and diabolical vampire bat that will suck every last drop of blood out of you – well those bats don’t make a sound.

So, when you go to bed tonight, if you hear squeak, squeak, you know you are perfectly safe, and can look for the bat tomorrow to chase it out.

However if you don’t hear anything…..dum Da DUM dum….

In Austin there is a bridge where the Mexican Freetail bats spend the summer. At dusk they come out by the millions. People line the river banks to watch them. And mosquitos are never a problem for the watchers.

Dawson, have you tried rolling a ball across the floor. Everyone knows that bats and balls go together.

Sharon, about the chemo and hair. The first or second time they tried to cure me interferon was added to the mix. That is not a good choice for me.

I was a zombie for the entire 6 months I was on it. BUT, after that my hair was curly. Was a bit wavy before, now it is very curly.

Dawson – take two foot-long sticks and tie them together so they form an “X”. Tie a 16 inch bit of string to each point of the “X”. At the end of three of the strings, Tie another bit of string to the center of the “X” and use that string to hang the “X” from the ceiling. In the morning, you will find the little bat hanging from the fourth string that is hanging down.

Whoops, forgot to finish my thought on the first comment. Wedding was great. I will be photoshopping some pictures of the bridal party running away from zombies. They totally want that.

There is a tradition in Western MA that when someone taps their glass with the silverware, other people join in and the couple has to kiss. Never heard of that before. The Bride and Groom did a lot of kissing.

YSAS took Zoe home early (7pm) because she was getting very tired.

I danced! First was a slow dance. YSAS and I danced and twirling was big. They went on to my age music, which they seemed to think was theirs!

Our family was dancing in a circle when YSAS realized that his youngest cousin was not dancing. Now that cousin may be the youngest, but he is the tallest and very tall compared to YSAS. Does that deter my son? Yeah, right.

YSAS goes over and LIFTS him up out of the chair, and then two other people help drag him over to our circle. YSAS throws him into the circle. The youngest can DANCE!

I was able to dance for 3 dances. My body said, what the carpola do you think you are doing? I said goodbye to everyone, cranked the radio up, sang at the top of my lungs with the windows down. I stayed awake for the 30 minute ride home.

My hair didn’t move through the entire ride.

I’m going to check out the Boutique and go to bed. Whew . .

Thanks for the wishes for a good show – it did end up being so, despite a whole bunch of weirdosity at the beginning, including the city of Boston “forgetting” that we had a show, and didn’t have the electricity on in the park. But they DID have the sprinkler system on….
And then there was the windstorm flipping tents, and the drunk lady cussing and doing “live” fashion commentary of the customers. And two competing Duck Boat tour guides getting into a fight over the right of way on the street.

Riö, driving in Boston . . Enter at your own risk. They change the one way streets. (just to bother people) Green lights mean go like Dawson’s bat. Yellow means go faster than Dawson’s bat. Red means you go slow, peek up and down, and if you don’t manage to catch the driver’s eye who does have the right of way, go out in the street half way.

There is one area where cars come down the overpass into 5 streets trying to merge into 2. There was once a stop sign. That didn’t work. Then there was a stop light. That didn’t work. They changed it to a yellow blinking light. That didn’t work. Now there is nothing. You just kiss your good luck charm and hope for the best.

Tourist do not understand that driving is a contact sport.

I was very sick when we moved to the are above Boston, and I was not allowed to drive for two years. When the doctor gave the okay? I relearned how to drive a car in Boston traffic. YSAS and OTAS still tell me, (while holding on to the handle of the door) “MOM, you’re not in Boston, you know!”

I have got to go to bed. I’m using two of the bobbie pins to keep my eyes open.

Oh, and Junior? I’m sending your eyebrows back up to you. Thanks for letting me borrow them.

Junior, your eyebrows are the best part of you.well, besides your strong legs, fabulous tail, and giant heart.

I think your eyebrows were the reason people didn’t recognize me. Normaly, my eyebrows are grey and that’s hard for us two leggeds to see. Using yours made me look four years younger, (that’ dog years)

    8:24 am on June 16th, 2013

Macy: I saw a Corgi also, on my ride around the lake (no flat tire) yesterday. Corgis remind me of those 2 leggeds who wear their pants far down on their hips so that it looks as if their legs start at their knees. However, Corgis can run while these 2 leggeds would fall over if they tried to run.
