Whew! Have a good tour Spence.
The mail hasn’t come yet but the novel is on my Kindle. Yes! I’m going to read it slowly.
Good morning all.
9:13 am on September 10th, 2013
Gooood morning, everyone! Phew, Spence, looks like what they call a whirlwind tour! Whoo hoo heading to bookstore this a.m. It’s book day!
Have a TSATF Tuesday.
9:30 am on September 10th, 2013
HOH, wrote it first Whirwind!
I looked at Madison, CT. Two hours away, but it’s at night. Not a good time for Zoë and me.
Snigglefritz.
I’m with B.Stover. I read the first few pages and STOPPED. Dog, that was difficult. But I am determined not to rush through . . we shall see.
Acupuncture day.
10:14 am on September 10th, 2013
Spence’s Tour! Here Soon! My Passport Book will be in paw.
Hounds: You called it. It’s TSATF Tuesday! WoooHooo!!!
Good Morning Some…G’night Liz & others.
10:47 am on September 10th, 2013
Mom has the book on her Kindle this am but won’t be able to start until this evening. She will try to read it slowly, but that doesn’t happen very often. Can’t wait!! I am also going to make sure she gets her signed and pawtographed copy ordered today. Knowing her, the tour will be over and I won’t get my copy signed!
BTW, Bear and Masquers, if your Nana has a chance to go see Lee Childs, Mom highly recommends it. She went to his signing on Sunday and enjoyed his talk and Q&A very much. I think I remember that you read the Reacher series.
The video from yesterday of the dancing border collies was fantastic. Particularly since Mom just finished up the Donna Ball Raine Stockton series. She was watching the handler’s hand signals which must have been really intricate when one hand was guiding the first dog and the other hand was guiding the other dog. Just amazing!!
Have a great day reading, everyone!

Good morning all.
Haapy Touring Spence. Whirlwind is right, about a dozen stops in all. Still hoping brother can get to the one in N.C. but it looks like he will be moving Barb’s nephew that week. He is 25 and just accepted a great job in Annapolis.
Very hot here today, mid 90s but cooling tomorrow, Thank Dawg.
Boo, Barb just ordered Bone Yard at the library, #4 in the Raine Stockton series.
10:59 am on September 10th, 2013
But what I really wanna know is…when’s the audiobook coming? I’m gonna miss Jim Frangione’s masterful narration (perfect voice for Chet!) on opening day. Also, Leno, my current Seeing Eye dog, says howdy. He’s sad to let you know that the other Chet passed this past February just shy of his 12th birthday. But here’s the human with Leno (on the human’s left) and Chet (dearly departed now, on the human’s right).

11:18 am on September 10th, 2013
Hey Buddy! We love the audio Chet and Bernie books too.
Woo hoo! TSATF showed up on our iPaw! We weren’t expecting that. Mom called and told us to wait for her to read it, which probably isn’t going to start until the weekend. 🙁
Melanie, You could get to Albany. That is not very far from you. When Mom drove up there with Kat, they were almost to Albany, and turned right. Or so Kat says.
11:19 am on September 10th, 2013
BooBear: Sadly we already missed Lee Childs who was at the Seattle Mystery Bookshop on Saturday. It is quite a long trek south from here, but we are more than willing to make the journey for OFA and 2 very special Plunderers. Sorry you will not be seeing Spence this time around.
Hi Buddy & Leno! Sorry to hear about your pal. I know you both miss him fiercely.
11:59 am on September 10th, 2013
Hi and Welcome Buddy!
Maybe someome who reads this blog (Spence?) can tell us when the audio version of The Sound and the Fury wil be out.
12:14 pm on September 10th, 2013
Greetings All!
That is some book tour OFA has! Hopefully, the only flying objects being thrown about will be from Spence and not AT him! You would think that with all the traveling our Pixie does, she might meet up with Spence at some airport some day! : )
Buddy, your dogs are beautiful . So sorry to hear of Chet’s passing.
I have started the first book in the Kurt Wallander series, so It will be awhile before I get to the “FURRY.” A year is too long between books, and I am trying not to fly through “FURRY”, and then I have nothing fun to read.
Beau, I am so sorry you are having a rough time. I wish you could have stayed with me.
12:25 pm on September 10th, 2013
B&M: How is your computer working these past days? You seem to be able to post okay.
We agree with all who say TSATF should be savored like a fine wine.
Hi Rose!
12:30 pm on September 10th, 2013
Welcome Buddy Brannan, I was just talking to Mr.Staff about how seldom we have new posters and you showed up! That is a nice picture of you and Leno and Chet.
NO SPOILERS PLEASE.
I ordered my TSATF from the Lexington KY store. It will get signed tomorrow and mailed off soon soon soon. I am too thrifty to buy it on the kindle and in hardcover so I must wait.
12:37 pm on September 10th, 2013
Masquers, The computer is much better, although still slow. Jessica deleted a bunch of stuff last week that was making it almost non-functioning. We probably should break down one of these days and buy a new lap top, but Barb hates to learn new tech things.
Still have to decide where to order the new book. If bro is able to go the Durham signing he is going to get us a book, but that is looking doubtful.
12:37 pm on September 10th, 2013
Masquers, my dear, how are you? : )
1:07 pm on September 10th, 2013
Rose: Right now I’m munching on one of the delish treats the Royal Mum included in our lovely package, plus I just found out tuna is on the lunchtime menu. What could be better? You tell me.
Sorry for all youse that are missing OFA this time around.
btw: We have an extra book that was pre-ordered from Amazon that is up for grabs to the first responder.
Let me know right away so I can have it signed for you.
1:27 pm on September 10th, 2013
Thanks y’all! I’m sure we won’t be seeing Spence, but we sure love Chet (and Bernie). Just bought on iBooks, so will look forward to it being read by Karen the iPhone. She isn’t Jim Frangione, but better than not getting to read it *right now*! Ain’t technology wonderful? Yes, we miss Chet, and Karl before him, but as all of y’all know, we wouldn’t tare our time with them for anything. I need a pic with our cairn terrier Fiona, AKA the holy terrier, aka the Fionalarm. She makes up for all the barking Leno doesn’t do.
1:39 pm on September 10th, 2013
What a day a new Chet and Bernie book and a new Buddy (yes, that was punny).
1:55 pm on September 10th, 2013
Hello Buddy and Leno! Welcome, I also enjoy the Chet and Bernie’s Audio books.
Sorry to hear about your Chet. It is always hard to lose someone close, and a companion that has been working with you for years must be extremely difficult.
Zoë is taking a nap on the dog bed. She has four of The Pack up there with her. Very happy.
it was an interesting drive to the acupuncturist. We had 1.5 inches of rain fall in 20 minutes. Thunder and lightening helped me keep awake for the drive. The roads were like the river.
Came home in relatively calm. Zoë is about to leave. I plan on sitting, reading a bit and then going to sleep for a nap.
2:33 pm on September 10th, 2013
Melanie & Zoe, BSD & Masquers, and Nan in Alaska, your auction items have been mailed. Mom sent them priority mail since that included tracking and insurance. Mom wrapped them up very carefully so there should not be any breakage. However, if they are damaged, please notify the post office and Mom. The guy at the post office said that Mom would have to be the one to start the claim so she would be the one reimbursing you for your bid amount. All of you should have them by the end of this week. The guy laughed about where Mom was shipping…Alaska and Washington state! Zones that were pretty far away!
Mom sent her email to the Seattle Mystery Bookshop and followed the information forwarded by BSD & Masquers. She was uncomfortable sending her credit card info in the email and asked that they call her for that info. One of their employees has already confirmed the email and called for her credit card info. All taken care of!! Ordered!
She also managed to read Chapter 1 during the end of her lunch break and was already laughing out loud!!

3:00 pm on September 10th, 2013
Thank you BooBear, looking forward to receiving said package.
Albany . . I had missed that one. Hmmm
Just talked to YSAS. He is measuring the bed and the sofa. They are considering a building on the East side near the river. They have said no to an apartment on a sixth floor of another building. No elevator. Yikes
The granite counter tops are in at OTAS and GLAD’s kitchen. They are having to do something or another and then they will post a picture on FaceBook. I will then swipe it and show it to youse guys.
3:00 pm on September 10th, 2013
Boo: Good on you! The Seattle Mystery Bookshop seems very efficient and on top of things. And, they have a sense of humor!
Waiting “patiently” for packages to arrive. Thank you for speeding them on their way.
Beau: Tell them you need Zingers to keep you quiet.
3:12 pm on September 10th, 2013
My mom abandoned me for more than 2 days!!! Someone who looked like her [c.hobbit edit: my sister] came over to check on me. They look so alike but this person didn’t seem to know about tummies or treaties!! And she only fed me half the food laid out on the counter –I was a starvin marvin!! And we only went for ONE walk even though I kept running up to the leash–could I have been more obvious? And she didn’t know how to pretend play with my squeaky ball!! And when my mom returned this other person said that she wasn’t really a dog person. GASP!!! How is that possible?
c.hobbit: Sadie is fine. It rained a lot while I was gone and my sister said that Sadie was too strong for her to walk. She is getting lots of tummies and treaties and is being a velcro dog at the moment.
3:22 pm on September 10th, 2013
Melanie: Those Top Floor Apartments can be Cool…until…you have to climb those six flights of stairs that is. Nana & friend had one in San Francisco that was Plush…with 2 roomy closets off a long hallway, living room with fireplace (and Purple shag carpet. Heh.), dining room, bedroom and bath. Plus access to the roof from the kitchen. On the Downside…it was on a busy street near a fire station. No matter…They Loved it.
WE can only imagine what it is like looking for an apartment in NYC.
SadieBear: Hurray. Your Mom is Home! Happily, you will not have to make a choice between going on that loooong ride or staying home alooone for very much longer because the House Will Be Sold!
3:28 pm on September 10th, 2013
Sadie Bear: You poor neglected girl, we know just what you mean!
Mom is rolling around laughing and we don’t see what is so funny. Darah the dozer and hiccup queen is 8 months old today and she was lying on the floor near mom when she (Darah, not mom) POOTED! First one mom has heard from her and the dozer jumped up and looked at her tail end. Funny!
(Emma P here) Don’t know why it is worth mentioning, I do that all the time, sans acknowledging it.

Wow, see what I get of only reading posts and not usually reading comments? I’ve been reading posts on the blog for a while on and off, but skipped the comments. I should have known, there are always so many, and (note to self: this isn’t a news site where comments will make you angry). I don’t reckon I’ll be making that mistake anymore on this site. Thanks for the warm welcome. Oh, I didn’t mention the cats, but we have those too. Whil Chet (this one, not mine) would probably not approve, even though they’re friendly cats, it’s pretty harmonious around here, except for the aforementioned holy terrier, but she’s even friendly, just, well, she’s a terrier, why else can we say about that?
3:53 pm on September 10th, 2013
Hounds: Chuckle. That is a Funny mind picture.
3:58 pm on September 10th, 2013
Buddy & Leno: Dogs And Cats getting along (most of the time)…that’s what we’re all about.
4:21 pm on September 10th, 2013
BSD: thanks for the video. It reminded me that when I lived in California many, many years ago, I was moving and was worried about being able to take my cat with me. I lived in an almost condemned house which I had fixed up and was selling. The buyer who bought the house interestingly enough asked if they could have my cat with the house. They were hispanic and only spoke Spanish but had fallen in love with my calico cat while they were being shown the house. They renamed the cat and I always wondered about animals learning a foreign language. Of course, since cats don’t respond to English very well, I assume it doesn’t matter if Spanish terms are used! [I only know that they adored her and she was their “princess” for many years after.]
4:32 pm on September 10th, 2013
CHobbit: What a neat story! Happy all around.
4:43 pm on September 10th, 2013
Wow, what a great story! I always love stories where having to leave critters behind turns out well. We had a cat..well, I did, she was my cat. Anyway, she didn’t take too well to adding a wife and extra cats to our household, nor to several moves, and so when we moved across the country 11 years ago from Dallas to Erie, PA, we called in a favor, and a friend of ours with connections to a no-kill shelter took her. The shelter I mean, not the friend, who wasn’t a cat person. A couple years later, I heard that my Zoe kitty really took to her new role as kitty mama and looked after all the new kittens in the shelter. Same friend helped me rehome an abused dog who was left when our delinquent shady neighbors got hauled off to jail, o anyways left, leaving the dog, very thin and very underweight, in the yard. I wish we could’ve kept him, he was a very nice dog, but at that time I didn’t know how best to help him or handle him, but this same friend found him a home with a lady who had a horse farm and all the room he could want.
5:14 pm on September 10th, 2013
Buddy and Leno, We have all been getting along on this blog for almost 4 years now…some have joined at different times. We may tease one another, but it ends there.
We really do welcome newcomers and are happy to have you join us.
The only cat friends I have are here on the blog.
C.Hobbit, That is a neat story.
I will be so glad for you and Sadie when you two get settled in Anchorage.
5:31 pm on September 10th, 2013

5:46 pm on September 10th, 2013
Hello from the land of sandy beaches and lotsa lobsters! We got here and unloaded everything into the cottage and just as we finished – the skies opened up and it POURED! The sun is out again now and lobsters and shrimp are the main course after some locally made clam chowda.
Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90’s. Ocean- here we come.
5:54 pm on September 10th, 2013
I mailed the auction items. Sharon will get hers on Friday and Kathy in Alaska on Saturday.
I’m sort of moved into the apartment but there is so much to be done. Having a puppy takes a lot of time. Here’s a brief look at the apartment so you all can see what a mess this is. I’m not in a hurry because, did I mention, I have a puppy.

5:55 pm on September 10th, 2013
Lots of artwork to hang.

5:56 pm on September 10th, 2013
C.Hobbit, Buddy&Leno: Neat stories with Happy Endings. Just the kind we like.
Wowzer! Melanie & Zoe going to Albany. This is GREAT NEWS.
The Royal at the BEACH. Yippee! (that clam chowda sounds mighty good.)
6:01 pm on September 10th, 2013
MollysMom!….That place looks a lot better than where I am or where Beau is…snort!…Lil LuLu has it made – is she in the photo anywhere? Maybe she is on one of those chairs and I just can’t see her…grunt!
6:03 pm on September 10th, 2013
MollysMom: Thanks for the photos of your lovely new apartment. Mess? It looks pretty good to us for having just moved in.
6:14 pm on September 10th, 2013
I’ve packaged all but two of the auction items and they will be mailed tomorrow. I am awaiting official word from Rebecca on a couple of items…
Bidders: be alert for TMGs!
6:20 pm on September 10th, 2013
I stopped at one of the local book stores and asked for TSATF. They had one copy. I didn’t buy it though. I want to get mine signed and pawprinted so if BSD (or was it Masquers?) still has the book for sale, I will take it.
I am going to meet Scout tonight, the same one who bolted during the thunder storm this summer, and her best friend Boots.
Melanie: Hooray!
Buddy and Leno: Welcome.
6:30 pm on September 10th, 2013
Melanie: Wowser, yippee, yahoo and woof! We are so happy!
Molly’s Mom: Beautiful space. Enjoy. And TY for the heads up in the mail.
T&G: Have fun at the beach.
Mom is smoked and wanted to rip a new one at the bookstore. Ordered TSATF a while back. Went today and heard them give excuses to 3 people on the phone then turn and give her the same excuse! She left her “preffered customer” card with them (maybe slammed it) and asked if this was how they were going to do business now that they are the only bookstore on our side of town and STOMPED her butt out 🙁 Sigh…now she’ll have to drive into town. She’s NOT waiting intil the 18th.
6:37 pm on September 10th, 2013
Melanie, To get to Albany from your place, just drive straight until you cross a bridge. Then turn right.
And Mom thought I slept thru my trip. Ha!
Buddy and Leno, I am a dog named Kat, but I have a friend who is a cat named T.C. Also, I am a member of The Howler Tribe.
Princess, Remind LuLu that you are royalty and she is not.
Rio, sorry your vacation is hot hot hot. If it makes you feel any better, it is very hot here now too.
T&G how are those lobsters?
6:49 pm on September 10th, 2013
Rio, I see Loulou sleeping in MY bed right next to MY Mr. Carrot.
6:52 pm on September 10th, 2013

7:28 pm on September 10th, 2013

7:28 pm on September 10th, 2013
MollyPop’s Mom, I am not going to show your apartment to YSAS. I think he would just break down. There is an apartment LLL and he are looking at tonight. We shall see . .
BTW, for having a puppy and trying to move, the apartment looks great.
Do not have TSATF physical book yet. Waiting for after the 15th so I can pay for it. 🙂 plenty of time before the 21st.

Just experienced my first earthquake in Anchorage. Very strong but just a few seconds. Really shook the house.
9:09 pm on September 10th, 2013
Melanie, Love the kid’s new kitchen! Also so glad you are going to Albany. You must get pictures.
Also love the new apartment, MPM. Take your time getting settled in.
Time to say good night and sweet dreams.
9:12 pm on September 10th, 2013
Mollypop’s Mom’s apartment is going to be really nice for her and puppy.
C.Harris Gasp
I have never felt the earth move under my four feet.
It has been gently raining here all day and is suppose to continue for the next several days. Mom likes it but I may go bonkers. I had to put the top up on Natasha’s Porsche.
9:31 pm on September 10th, 2013
Hobbit! That is very scary.
MPM, your apartment looks great, and our favorite part is that tiny ball of fluff you decorated with.
Time for bed here. G’night.
10:02 pm on September 10th, 2013
Dawson: Check your SDD!
10:28 pm on September 10th, 2013
Siber-H, did you put the top up before or after it started raining?
C.Hobbit, our earthquakes here in the NorthEast are not strong. I felt two when we lived on the coast. It did shake the house, but more of a jolt type feeling. The house was another old one and the third floor, where the guys had their bedrooms, actually swayed.
We have had two out this way. Interestingly enough, we have never felt them at the house. It has to do with different underlying rock type.
Tell SadieBear hi from the Pack. They understand desertion. They told Zoë all sorts of fibs when she got home on Sunday.
Kat, it’s good to hear from you. You are a being of many tallents.
TTFN
10:53 pm on September 10th, 2013
Melanie, Not to worry. I put the top up before it started raining because for once the weathermen got the forecast right.
It will be something if Spence comes to Albuquerque and it is raining. Rain doesn’t much happen here.
11:03 pm on September 10th, 2013
I’m going outside now for last call. Mom will have to hold the umbrella over me and the flashlight in the other hand because she thinks she has to watch for skunks.
Night All
11:52 pm on September 10th, 2013
MPM (or LouLou’s Mom) what a neat apartment. Be sure to post pics when you get everything in place!
Melanie, the kids choice of granite is great! They are going to love it! And yeah about Albany!!
Going to read a bit.

Kat…well now, T.c. as in “The cat”? Good! I used to tell people that Karl was Karl T. Dog (T. was for “The”). Really confused people, who thought the human was Karl and Buddy was the dog. Getting Chet didn’t solve that problem. However, now that Leno works with me, I think people have it straight which name belong to which group of legs and ears and stuff like that. Think I’m going to follow Leno’s lead and take myself off to bed. See y’all fine folks tomorrow. Except I should say that Kat’s directions remind me of some of the worst directions I ever got. Well, second worst. The worst being “Over there” or “that way”:
1) In a mall attached to a hotel in New Orleans a zillion years ago, someone once told me to “turn forward”. I still haven’t worked out how to do that.
2) My German class study partner’s roommate once told me to “back up and then go straight”. She seemed perplexed when I ended up where I started.

Melanie! Yowser. Have fun in Albany. I don’t think anything can make Rio and his friend happy with missing Spencer. And I am sure Rio was on his mind when he made the schedule. Sniff.
And Dawson, check your SDD.
Nighty Noodle you guys. It is time for a bedtime snack.

Earthquake was only a 4.1 (preliminary recording) but the epicenter was only 15 miles NE of the city which is why it felt stronger. No reports of damages.

I just finished my work for the day. I wish I had the time to read TSATF, but it will have to wait. Tomorrow involves travel to a new place followed by a long day.
Buddy and Leno: Welcome!
Head bumps to you all and nighty Nutter Butters.
