Howdy! We said it at the end of last night’s post and we’ll say it again. We love Rebecca’s new do. Even Kat loves it, and she was worried, believe us. Mom has her summer haircut which is shorter than most boys just because she hates blow-drying her thick hair in summer, but she wishes she looked that good.
Dima is still not eating, and didn’t want to get up again this morning. And here we are almost at our big mountain hiking trip.

I like Rebecca’s haircut. Her generosity is for a very good cause. (For some reason I’m reminded of “The Rape of the Lock,” and poem in five cantos by Alexander Pope. In the end the lock is immortalized as a constellation.)

We are taping Mama back to her work table. On Sunday they leave for the week long Really Long Shew and she wants to have oodles and buckets of stuff to sell so she can be rich, rich, rich. We think that means having more dollars than two.

Bad morning for Gus. He had a short seizure. Luckily, Mom was still home with him and about to talk to him and massage him. It only lasted about 10 seconds but still scary. We are afraid it is the beginning of the end. I think he hears the guys across the bridge calling.

Zoe is getting checked out and I’m laughing hysterically. After the nuse leaves I read Steve’s comment to Zoe, now she is laughing at that and everyone eles comments.

Solving the age old zen koan: “If a tree falls in a forest and nobody is there to hear it will it make a sound?”
ZenKat here. As B pointed out: Humans are not the only ones with the capacity to hear so, of course, the tree would make a sound if somebody, something were present to hear it fall.
But suppose no one, no thing was present? According to quantum theory the objects of sense exist only when they are perceived. If there are no ears to ear there would be no sound.
However: It would be possible to see something, but not “hear” it or hear it, but not “see” it.
B: Gah. I’m getting a headache too.

Skink! When I was a child we lived in Southern Indiana for several years. There were blue tailed Skinks there. We always tried to catch them and failed. If you caught the tail though, it would detach and you would have a blue tail in your hands and the Skink would run away. Awfully exciting to a young child.

Since sound waves are vibrations in the air, sea and ground, that means even if no animal is present, the plant life would feel the vibration or “hear” it.

Mom took a long lunch and drove home to check on Gus. He was a little bit better, actually ate a little lunch and drank some ice water (he likes his water with cubes in it.) Paws crossed for him to keep getting beter. Thanks for all the pawsitive thoughts and prayers.

Busy day on the blog! We are stopping by for a quick hello and then off for a nap. Barb has been at the neighbor’s all morning, helping her decorate her kitchen and breakfast area. It turned out really cute, but now Barb is tuckered out.
We hope good thoughts for all of the guys who are not feeling tip top today. These things are always so difficult. Maybe Amalia and The Storyteller could give us a short prayer when they have a few minutes.
Barb says she totally LOVES Rebecca’s new do. It looks so sophisticated, plus it will be so easy to care for.

My Lady is blush, blush, blushing with all the compliments about her pixie do. She says she feels nekkid without her long hair.
Dima: I know you don’t want to go to the v-e-t what with the poking, the prodding, and the temperature taking. I’m happy and proud to stand between the v-e-t and you buried under the Quilt, but—-and I hate to say it—I think you need to let the v-e-t have a little lookie-loo at you. If nothing more, it might make your mama feel better to have the v-e-t’s opinion.
BooBear: Pawsitive thoughts for Gus. The veil is thinned when one of our kind is in need or hurting; those who have already crossed the Bridge, tend to us from the other side whether it is our time to cross or not. I know you know this, but your parents may not. Siezures are scary things. I had a son that had them throughout his short life. It was hard to watch. I’d try to hold him still. My Lady would hold him, sing to him and tell him his stories until the seizures would stop. As hard as it was, I knew that others from the other side helped him through the seizures, and when it was his time to make the journey, he was escorted and welcomed.

I Googled UFO squash and about the 3rd or 4th link had Recipe for stuffed patty pans” They had several recipes on that link. The stuffed one used Quinoa and corn. Can you eat either of those?

Our hot corn salad turned out great. We sauted the pepper and onion, added raw corn, then a can of black beans and one small jalapino pepper diced. Then topped with diced tomatoes at serving. Everyone raved!

I feel like I was just hit upside the head with a 2×4. Dima has a very large mass in his liver, or next to his live or something. I couldn’t hear much of what was said because my head was, and is, spinning. My universe is falling apart. He has a high fever and is very anemic and has lost 4 pounds just since his regular checkup in June. He is getting exploratory surgery on Wednesday, and it looks like Barkwells is not gonna happen either. This is the worst year that ever was, and Dima, my most perfect dog who is loved by all is really really sick.

Pop says that while the doc originally thought he felt it near the liver, the X-ray actually showed it near or attached to the spleen. Mom was nearly passed out by then.

Doc just called with Dima’s blood test results. His liver and kidney function is good. His red blood cells and hemoglobins are only a little low. He is slightly anemic, but the doc is not too worried about that because he will be getting 100% oxygen. Sounds like my boy is up for this. Paws crossed.

Thinking of everyone. Prayers to everyone whether you need them or not!
Rio: I can’t believe you actually have a stranger wanting to see your house without a “For Sale” sign in the yard. No fair! However, my house has gotten 3 more showings so I am hopeful that something will break for me sooner rather than later.

CHobbit!….I’ve over-heard that it is definitely a Sellers Market in this town right now…snort!… The reason is the town is close to two other towns that are more expensive and trendy…grunt!…Our claim to fame is cattle and farmland…sniff!sniff!….When it rains it sticks. The old-timers call it the smell of money…heh!heh!…So anyways, the houses are selling like hotcakes because they are still a bit lower priced…chuffle!

Wose: I think my Two-legged-sprite-pixie mama is threatening to move into my sparkly territory. I think I’ve caught her eyeing my sparkly, pink collar that I save for special; I bet she wants to wear it as a bracelet. I must hide it. I do have extra glitter on paw to decorate the Giant for his birthday tomorrow! Yeep! Twirl! Sparkle.
My Two-legged is going to pull an all-nighter tonight for work. Not me, no sirpuggy. I’m going to sleep, sleep, sleep.

All-nighter!…yeeep!…That sounds like someone is not going to get any sleep at all…yawn!…How can anyone in their right mind do something like that? ….wheeze!… We are watching the game and both of us are having a hard time keeping our eyes open…wuffle!….Beau is on top of the stairs wuff-wuffling at us to come up to bed…heh!…He is such a wimp. There is no way he can stay awake past 8:30.

Thank you for the prayer and for keeping Gus in your hearts. He has surprised us before, perhaps he will again.
Dima will be fine. They should be able to fix him up good as new. Luckily, his mom knows her Sibes so well, she knew something was wrong and hopefully, got him to the doc in time. And the power of all our prayers and pawsitive thoughts will help pull him through. Plus he has a smoocher in residence to take good care of him.

Thanks for reminding me! I turned on my Kindle app and there was Iggy being downloaded for me.
Not goimg to start it now, I’ll never get back to sleep. It’s nice to know it is waiting for me.
I will be thinking of the Giant tomorrow, and how lucky you both are for him to be around.
Is his fork ready for his ice cream cake?

Thank you, Boo. We are thinking pawsitive here also. We will not even contemplate anything else. Thanks for the prayers to everyone, but it was not a pawsitive one imo.
