The Nation Within
“How’d it go at Wellesley Booksmith last night?” says Admin.
“No one threw anything,” says Spence. “And there were a few members of the nation within in attendance. One named Pumpkin raised a paw during question period.”
“Next?”
“Cisco Brewery on Nantucket tomorrow at 4, event sponsored by Nantucket Bookworks,” Spence says.
“Beer and books,” says Admin. “A nice combo.”
“What doesn’t go well with beer?” Spence says.
“Bypass surgery,” says Admin.

We’re in!
9:30 am on September 15th, 2011
Elliot: Reading books like these go well with beer. Better than bypass surgery at any rate.
9:32 am on September 15th, 2011
I’m a milk drinker. Milk and kitty cookies. No dunking.
Is it getting dark up there, Dawson?
9:32 am on September 15th, 2011
I wonder what Pumpkin wanted to ask.
Good morning all.
9:35 am on September 15th, 2011
Not able to drink beer. I used to drink the non-alcoholic blonde bimbo beer, can’t remember the name, but that was before I found out I couldn’t do gluten. Sooooo, V8 juice is my evening drink.
But to read with hmmmm. A cup of tea, a touch of honey and a great book. Nothing is better. Especially, bypass surgery.
Morning Elliot, Morning Dawson, Morning All!
9:36 am on September 15th, 2011
“Where’s Chet?”
Morning B.
9:37 am on September 15th, 2011
Just starting to get light here. On the 21st we will have 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark…just like you.
Tea with Chet…goes much better than beer in my book.
9:41 am on September 15th, 2011
How about coffee? Yum! (as I’m sipping.) Tea is good also.
Hi Melanie, Dawson and Elliot.
I’m on chapter 31. May finish it today after I do prep.
9:42 am on September 15th, 2011
I’m off to the place with the more or less innocent inmates and the boss who is acting extremely nice lately. Something’s up.
9:48 am on September 15th, 2011
Dawson: The boss wants you to do something extra.
Had to turn on the furnace to take the nip out of the air. It was 44 outside when I went for a walk.
9:58 am on September 15th, 2011
Tomorrow will be a very special day. My girl is coming home after her last class for her hair appointment. That means she will sleep in her bed with me all cuddled up! Oh goody, oh joy!
10:08 am on September 15th, 2011
Melanie, I think the NA beer you are talking about might be PauliGirl.
Sammy, Sounds like you have a nice weekend ahead!
10:16 am on September 15th, 2011
Morning All!
The weather is cooling here in Westchester, and some of the leaves are turning already.
Looks like there will be hot-dog eating at Yankee stadium come October…Go Yankees!!
Elliot: Wonderful news!! A kat who drinks milk, what a concept. My boy, Kelly did not drink white milk, only chocolate milk. He also enjoyed other milk products like ice cram and yougurt. Enjoy your milk and kitty cookies and happy reading!
Sam: Enjoy your day with your girl!
10:31 am on September 15th, 2011
Barb & MagPie: Yup, looked that up, that’s her. Also a NA beer that actually tastes like beer.
YSAS now drinks cider. But you have to say it with a Maine accent: Cyyyda.
Rose, we are also beginning to change colors here. Soon the fall tourists will arrive and slow down by our yard and ask to see the Pack go into the Pool. Yup, that won’t happen. As long as they’re there in their cars watching, the Pack will get out of the Pool to go bark at them.
10:33 am on September 15th, 2011
Melanie: LOL about the tourists and the Pack.
10:38 am on September 15th, 2011
We have a rather disgusting story for those with a strong stomach. Barb noticed an unpleasant odor when she opened the cabinet doors under the sink, so this morning at 5:00 a.m. she ripped out all the cleaning supplies under there to try to figure out what it was. At the back of the cabinet she found a large decorative wine bottle that she had saved to do something with. In the bottom was a mouse in a very advanced state of decomp. If she could smell it with her rather useless human nose, you can imagine how bad it smelled to a member of the nation!
Cabinet is now clean and smell is all gone. Thank dog!
10:45 am on September 15th, 2011
Wow Elliot and Dawson on the blog at the same time! I am a little late. Just checking the flight status of the plane carrying the TOGA participant from Canada. I pick her up at noon Central. Gosh I better start packing my car! Back way later tonight to say Hi and check the blog.
Be good today! Don’t get gulled!
10:48 am on September 15th, 2011
Just picturing Staff and all sitting at their machines, dressed in togas, and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9-IJFYWVAg
10:51 am on September 15th, 2011
B&M: Yuck! Barb is a stronger woman than I. Don’t like mice except the white kind. (Go figure!) I never would have even touched that bottle! I can’t imagine what mouse carcass smelled like in there. Glad everything is all cleaned up!!!
10:51 am on September 15th, 2011
Barb- Mama read about your wine bottle and made her “ick” face. They came home from a loooonnngg road trip once to find a bottle of peanut oil in the cupboard that was 3/4 full of well preserved dead mice. In oil. She didn’t buy peanut oil for years after that!
They are off on an adventure this morning. Seems the Lindt chocolate factory is only a couple of towns over and- get this – they have an OUTLET store. Dad says that shopping for discount chocolate sounds good to him.
10:52 am on September 15th, 2011
I expect that when my girl comes home tomorrow, she will see the error of her ways and give up on this stupid college thing.
10:52 am on September 15th, 2011
T&G: Double yuck!!!! Shopping for chocolate sounds like a plan. Hope your dad has fun!!!
10:54 am on September 15th, 2011
T&G: We both posted at 10:51! I wonder if I should play that number????
10:56 am on September 15th, 2011
You know how Spence always has tags for his posts? We think the tag for our comments should be “white mice dressed in togas, sitting around having tea and chocolate”.
Talk to you all later – we got rawhide bones to chew while they go out!
11:08 am on September 15th, 2011
Sam: Please ask your girl what she thinks about college and let me know.
11:08 am on September 15th, 2011
T & G Your mouse story tops our mouse story!
Lobster and chocolate, does it get any better?
11:10 am on September 15th, 2011
Pumkin was going to ask Spence about signing the Dedications, no doubt.
Barb&Magpie: Ugh! Not a pleasant task to wake up to! That mouse went out happy though.
Dawson: Hurray! You have your computer back. We all missed you.
Rio: Somehow I suspected your Friend’s Rose project might be under-appreciated. That is really too bad. It was one of her best and should have gotten the accolades it deserved.
11:25 am on September 15th, 2011
LOL regarding the dedications. Bear, please let us know what the dedication is when you get the book.
“Where’s Chet?” seems a logical question for Pumpkin to ask.
I don’t feel like doing prep so I’m going to clean the garden and then read Dog Who.
11:31 am on September 15th, 2011
Rio – Your friend’s Rose is an original design! Unappreciated, so sad for the recipient of that lovely art work.
11:31 am on September 15th, 2011
I’m sure that Pumpkin was going to ask the right questions…like the ones that were mentioned yesterday and about signing the dedications.
Spence is really on a whilwind tour, isn’t he.
In this climate dead mice turn into ugly little mummies. Well, not if they have fallen into a bottle of peanut oil.
Sam, I’m glad your girl is coming home for a visit and that you are getting to see her pretty often. I know she misses you just like you miss her.
Rio, I’m sorry your friend’s roses were not appreciated because they are beautiful.
11:36 am on September 15th, 2011
Pumkin!…. That guy probably wanted to know where Chet was…snort!…That’s who he really came to see I betcha…sniff!
Bear!… My friend’s sister has issues. A couple of hours after we got home after that really looooonnnggg drive from Iowa she called and wanted to pick a fight over stuff that never happened. The stuff that did happen she was clueless about…(((sigh)))…Her sister will probably throw the roses in the trash bin. To think she could have sent them to someone else who would have liked them instead of rushing off a small insignificant pot o’ flowers….snuffle!
11:41 am on September 15th, 2011
Rio, That is such a shame about her sister. The roses were beautiful, and to say she did that sort of thing in grade school was a big insult to your friend. Lesson learned, would not make her anything else. There are many who appreciate handmade items.
12:07 pm on September 15th, 2011
Lesson!… Lesson learned (again)…snort!… I’ve heard her say, “Never again! Not even for a graduation or a funeral.” ….heh!…She says she will send money for one and flowers for the other…snort!
12:09 pm on September 15th, 2011
Rio, Wise choices!
12:39 pm on September 15th, 2011
Rio: I’m disappointed to hear that your’s friend’s hard work on the roses went unappreciated. The roses were beautiful…I would have loved to have them.
1:00 pm on September 15th, 2011
Finished!….Well, it’s all water-under-the-bridge…heh!…The whole thing with the roses is sort of a symbol of their life-long relationship….snort!…The only difference is now the cycle is finished. No more give-give-give and get shit in return….sniff!…My friend and I are looking forward to North To Alaska and not looking back at Iowa…heh!woooo!
Projects!…The next projects she makes will be for The Mushers Mercantile Store…snort!…I hope some of you have some things to stock the shelves with…heh!….Should we shoot for late October for the Christmas Store to open??…sniff!
1:03 pm on September 15th, 2011
We are all appalled over the sister’s behavior and especially her lack of appreciation for the Beautiful Gift. Pearls before….. as the saying goes…or is that too harsh a comment?
Your Coat of Many Colors will be puuurfect for the North to Alaska Trip. You will not have to worry about getting lost in the snow. Have I mentioned how handsome you look in it? Don’t forget to have someone make you booties to protect your paws from the cold. It’s not to early to prepare for this amazing vaca. Put the other one completely out of your mind – as if it never happened.
1:05 pm on September 15th, 2011
Hat!…I still need a doily for my head!…snort!
1:11 pm on September 15th, 2011
Rio: Late October seems the perfect time to open the Mercantile Store for Christmas shopping. Our item is ready to go. We await your instructions.
2:02 pm on September 15th, 2011
Rio, I think you’re right. Water under the bridge and Plunder On!
Anyhoo, Not a dolly, either a Stormy Kromer or a French beret.
Back from acupuncture. Patsy didn’t need it today. She’s doing better than expected.
2:17 pm on September 15th, 2011
Melanie: That is very good news about Patsy. Someone here could use acupuncture treatments also. If only they weren’t so expensive. Sadly, our “Health Insurance” plan doesn’t cover it.
Yes, I can see Rio in a French beret.
Barb&Magpie: How did you like your movie last night? The Jesse Stone one was great – except for an unexpected scary part near the end. We don’t like to be frightened right before bedtime!
2:39 pm on September 15th, 2011
BSD, The movie was about a 5 or 6 on a scale of 1-10. Sort of a Tyler Perry type movie, but not as good. A little cheesy and predictable.
Mail had not come yet when Barb checked at noon. Hope the cookbooks will be there when she gets off work. If not, she is going to cry.
2:57 pm on September 15th, 2011
Melanie: Glad to hear about Patsy. If not a beret, maybe a Scottish Tweed hat. They are flat too.
3:41 pm on September 15th, 2011
Patsy seems to be doing well. So glad!
3:48 pm on September 15th, 2011
Melanie: That is good news about Patsy.
4:08 pm on September 15th, 2011
Hey ALL! TDW has made #22 on NYT best sellers!!
4:22 pm on September 15th, 2011
Great news about The Dog Who and Patsy!!!
Congratulations Spence! (and Chet)
5:00 pm on September 15th, 2011
Best-Seller!….It can only go up from there!…heh!…WoooooWhooooo!….Congratulations Spencer!
5:22 pm on September 15th, 2011
Macy – You must have your winter parka on today. I see you have had a big temperature drop.
5:34 pm on September 15th, 2011
List!….Wait a minute!…snort!… I don’t see Dog Who on the list…grunt!…Melanie, which list are you looking at anyways?….grumble!
5:43 pm on September 15th, 2011
Here you go, Riö! #22

5:47 pm on September 15th, 2011
Unreadable!…I can’t read that list…dammit!
5:50 pm on September 15th, 2011
Okay!…Now I can read it. I saved it to my little hard drive and then opened it in IE…snort!.. There you have it folks – big as life! Number 22 on the NY Times Best Sellers List…heh! ….Spencer needs to buck up and knock that James Patterson dude off of the #1 slot….snort!… I’m tired of looking at his name….grunt!
6:02 pm on September 15th, 2011
Or, you can just click on what Melanie posted and it enlarges enough to read it. WOO WOO Number 22
6:11 pm on September 15th, 2011
Rio – James Patterson isn’t really writing these books. Notice he has a co-author. Patterson must give an outline and the co-author does the rest. He puts out two or three of these a year! Come on already.
6:11 pm on September 15th, 2011
Hi Gang – we want you all to know that our folks are crazy. To think, they spent all that money on chocolate when they KNOW we can’t have any. Hmmmmm – wonder if a basket on Lindt chocolates would be good for the Mercantile. Or would a certain Musher’s Wife abscond with it for Nervous Nibbling Noshes?
Speaking of Stormy Kroners (is that right?) Mama saw the ultimate one today. It was made of (fake) mink that looked absolutely real. She was tempted, but Dad told her that if she wore that, she would look like a Big Brown Q-tip. She decided against it.
Rio – we are positive that there was NOTHING “insignificant” about your friend’s small pot of flowers. Mama says it is sometimes harder to make something small because it makes the details so important. She also says that if your friend wants to trade difficult siblings, let her know. Mama has a sister and a brother who are real beauts!
6:12 pm on September 15th, 2011
James Patterson really cranks them out doesn’t he? There’s no accounting for taste. That’s all I have to say about that.
6:18 pm on September 15th, 2011
Patterson has an entire factory of workers.
Interesting dialogue in the Facebook section.
6:18 pm on September 15th, 2011
Royals’ Mum: Laughing here about looking like a Big Brown Q-tip!
6:20 pm on September 15th, 2011
I’m also laughing about the Q-tip.
6:42 pm on September 15th, 2011
Hey, y’all! Mom was just reading your comments about James Patterson. She says it seems like a new book comes out every month, so she went back to check. This year he’s had at least seven books that Mom could find, plus at least four more coming within the next few months. Seven and four is 11, which is almost one every month! (And yet another one is due on Jan 2.)
B&M: Mom used to have pet mice when she was little. One was white and the other was black. They were always squeezing out between the bars of her cage and playing on her desk — giving her the excuse that her mice ate her homework! One day she heard Grandma scream. She ran into Grandma and Grandpa’s room and found her pointing at the bed — in the middle was the black mouse. Grandma hadn’t seen him against her dark green bedspread, and had climbed into bed. He ran on top of her and gave her quite a fright!
6:42 pm on September 15th, 2011
Q-Tip? And he’s still walking?
James Patterson: Haven’t read him for years.
YSAS is doing a featured extra today! That means they get up close and is standing with the guy who says something. YEA! Bump in pay!
6:57 pm on September 15th, 2011
T&G: Laughing out loud about the Q-tip too!
I have never read a James Patterson book. I have very little time to read, so what I read must be quality. A shame, because an author that I truly like, Howard Roughan (sp?) co-authored a book with him.
Yipee, YSAS!!!!
6:58 pm on September 15th, 2011
T & G you lost us at Stormy Kroners. What is that? And I am sure you don’t look like a Q-tip.
Barb got home and her cookbooks were here. They are absolutely fantsatic! Kudos to Liz for the art work and thank you Wookie’s gang for putting it together and getting it out to us. We are definitely going to get busy and have more made for Christmas gifts. Barb’s only regret is that she didn’t submit a picture of me for the book. Sob!
7:14 pm on September 15th, 2011
Hey Rose! I hear it’s cooling off a bit your way. Here too. It has been overcast for the past several days. Autumn is in the air with the leaves turning red and gold. So beautiful!
7:26 pm on September 15th, 2011
Melanie – Mom has the YSAS Hamlet cast picture on the desktop on her new Mac.
7:27 pm on September 15th, 2011
Barb and MagPie, Rebecca has a pink Stormy Kromer. Here’s a pic, not sure if it’s the same as Rebecca’s.

7:37 pm on September 15th, 2011
Best seller!!! I wonder if Spence ever twirls?
Melanie: That’s the hat! I knew that the hat was for me the moment I saw it—can’t explain it, just knew it. I grabbed it and walked straight to the register without looking at the price—this is saying something for someone who rarely shops anywhere other than the clearance rack.
TandG: Come to my neck of the woods and you’ll see a lot of brown Qtips walking around.
7:51 pm on September 15th, 2011
I love, love, love:
1. A Lindt OUTLET store (I feel a tummy ache coming on);
2. Dog Who being on the NYT’s bestseller list (congratulations Spencer);
3. Rebecca’s Stormy Kroner!
7:58 pm on September 15th, 2011
My mom has had that bypass surgery business and she hates, hates, HATES beer. Kawwfee is her drinkypoo of choice. Starbucks. That.Is.All. Don’t even get her started!!
Mom has been telling me about her week. She’s named this week Falsification Week. She’s had two interesting falsy things and she’s tugging me away so that she can tell you all about it….
Yep, it’s Falsification Week here in the mitten state. Employee Dufus (ED) decided to help her Dumb A$$ Friend (DAF)get insurance. ED is married to Mr. ED. ED falsifies a divorce decree from Mr. ED and falsifies a marriage certificate to DAF. Then falsifies the insurance forms so DAF can have insurance (medical, dental, vision). DAF pays ED a monthly $$ for the “free” insurance. DAF decides this probably isn’t a good idea and tells ED to stop. ED then falsifies a divorce decree from DAF. Then she gets a real divorce from Mr. ED.
But wait, there’s more! ED takes nekkid pics of herself in a locked room at work and texts them to DAF. And guess who gets to look at those pictures? Lucky, lucky me.
In another situation, Moron Employee (ME) submits form for 8 hours of leave pay for a certain date because they are going to be a good citizen and donate some medical stuff and get tested to see if they are a match with someone else who has some medical stuff. Of course, no appointment is scheduled at the place ME identified on the form on the date requested.
Shenanigans!
8:02 pm on September 15th, 2011
Hmmm…I wonder what’s happening with Duke…Have the O.Howlers heard any good news?
SnowBella: The Stormy Kroner was the perfect hat for you and in pink. Now we just have to find something suitable for Rio.
Rose: I have been meaning to ash you. How is the new job?
8:11 pm on September 15th, 2011
News from the Mitten! Hi Jasper.
8:37 pm on September 15th, 2011
Jeez Jasper. . .
I think you are correct about Falsification Week. Just wanted to make a suggestion. Instead of “Moron Employee” you should say “Employee Moron”?
Then it wouldn’t be you!
9:01 pm on September 15th, 2011
Falsies!…Nekkid photos!…What is the work-place coming to?…snort!… My friend wants to know why people play so fast and loose with their jobs when they are lucky as hell to have one in the first place…grunt!
Hat!… Someone here really wants a Stormy Kroners hat for our trip North to Alaska!…heh! …What better place to wear a hat like than at the Iditarod!….snort!…She probably will want a black one though…sniff!
Flowers!… The worst thing about that insignificant little pot o’ flowers is that my friend says she was rushed and forgot to erase the little pencil marks on the outer borders…grunt!…That really upset her when she remembered, which was too late…snort! …Well, I think whoever got that pot o’ flowers could just as easily erase those marks themselves…sniff!…Why worry about it?…wuffle!
9:10 pm on September 15th, 2011
Question!…. My friend has a question…snort!… She wants to know if it is normal to be stiff and sore for days and days after a very looong car-ride…grunt!… She exercised at the hotel, walked when she could but since being home she is so stiff and sore she can hardly move…wheeze!….What’s the matter with her?…yeep!
9:13 pm on September 15th, 2011
Sore!….Speaking of being sore…wheeze!…We just finished our Brutal Walk and she was fine during that, but the moment she sits down she gets stiff and sore…sniff!…Me too…dammit!…I’m always stiff and sore after one of our up hills and down hills walk…groan!
9:15 pm on September 15th, 2011
All that tom-foolery makes my head spin. How do 2 leggeds come up with this stuff? Just keep it plain and simple, and HONEST!
9:16 pm on September 15th, 2011
Wonder if Wookie is Sticking to his plan to read one chapter a day. We’re off to read a couple more. – Bear
9:25 pm on September 15th, 2011
Rio: The long car ride probably has something to do with it. Also, the weather is changing which brings on aches and pains.
9:37 pm on September 15th, 2011
Some have been known to predict the weather that way. Just ask Melanie.
9:45 pm on September 15th, 2011
Brother Rio- jest catchin up on this here blog. Tell me that you did NOT offer to wear a DOILY on your head.
Ah’m a jest shakin my head. Ah do believe I would ruther jest die of the cold

Good Night Everyone
10:06 pm on September 15th, 2011
Melanie…we were concerned to see that you are turning colors. Any pattern or just random colors? I am black, plain and simple. Except where I am rust colored. All black is too simple for me, I must have accents!
Wookie!!!!! We got it. It is unbelievable wonderful. Mom really wishes that she had contributed more and had sent my picture. The whole cookbook thing came about at a rather “blehhh” period when we were having trouble just thinking. But we love it and really appreciate you sending it too us. The “others” are here for the weekend so it is 5 dew-claws up!! They really love SiberH’s recipe and have asked for it repeatedly.
Mom is off to Austin for the week-end. Tomorrow she will see our girl Niki for the first time since Christmas. She could only fit mom in her schedule tomorrow night, as it is Austin City Limits festival week-end and she is quite the social butterfly at festivals. They were not going to see her, anyway. Mom’s uncle has been in and out of death’s door for the last month and she is going to see him while he is still on this side. He is the last member of her dad’s family.
10:07 pm on September 15th, 2011

I love, love, love Dishlickers!
10:28 pm on September 15th, 2011
Dishlickers!…. Wolfie is your gal going to make Great Grandma’s Case Noodle recipe?….heh!
10:42 pm on September 15th, 2011
Wookie: We received Dishlickers in the mail today! It is wonderful!—Thank you for going to the trouble of printing, binding and shipping. I think the MGs did their best, but did not succeed; part of the envelope was covered in a sticky substance I can only guess to be MG saliva—I’m waiting for the lab report…
Miss Macy: The team has also taken a liking to Siber-H’s contribution to Dishlickers—this week, for the team it has been more along ‘break a moose in half and give both halves to the dog.’ We were given the bones from a hunter that got his moose early on in the hunt. The dogs were happy dogs.
Rio: I’ve seen Stormy Kromers in gray, black, navy and dark green. When it comes to mushing gear, black is a color after AJ’s heart. I might be willing to share my brown Q-tip hat with you when you come North to Alaska—it has ear flaps so no muffs would be required.
10:44 pm on September 15th, 2011
Carpola! I read about all y’all’s cookbooks and I just wanna howl with frustration that Mom didn’t order one! I think she’s still going to try her hand at making her own book, but not until after the wedding next weekend. She woke up in a panic the other night trying to figure out what all she has to take to the reception site. So now she’s started a list and she’s sleeping a little better. Still, she’ll be glad when this whole thing is over — and so will the mother of the bride!!!
10:51 pm on September 15th, 2011
Jasper: At the library meeting Mom was at yesterday, she sat next to someone she used to work with at another library. The director who was at that library at the time left under a cloud, but Mom was gone by then so she didn’t know all the circumstances. I guess there were out-and-out shenanigans involved, including using library money to buy gifts for people! Falsification indeed!
10:55 pm on September 15th, 2011
KirbyT: You may not be getting Dishlickers in the mail, but I have it on good authority that an envelop from these parts is headed your way—Attention: Kirby T. Penworthy. I think your mom’s Iditarod storytime will be a hit!
11:01 pm on September 15th, 2011
Rebecca: Boy oh boy oh boy! I really can’t wait! Mom was telling her boss the other day about her vision for the storytime, and her boss was enthusiastic about her ideas. I think it’s going to be a hit — and now it’ll be even hittier! (Is that a word?)
11:13 pm on September 15th, 2011
Good night all, we are going to try to read 1 chapter like Wookie.
Will check in briefly in the morning, before Barb goes off to Crazy Lady Land.
11:14 pm on September 15th, 2011

Umm, Rio, we think the coat of many colors may be a tad girly. Just saying……….You may want to “man up” in Alaska. AJ wears black!! AND the patch won’t show up on that coat. BTW, sorry your friends sister was such a douche!! That project was great. Lesson Learned.
Jasper, Dad always says that if people put as much effort into working real jobs as they put in schemes and shananigans, they would be rich honestly.
Just catching up after a couple of days with no time. Macy, you were right about Spence’s favorite thing. Something about a group of teens he inspired??
Fall has NOT come to south Texas, although we didn’t hit 100 today, just the high 90’s.

KirbyT: Please keep an eye out for any devious efforts by TMG. From the picture posted earlier this week, it appears they have taken to tree climbing in order to drop in on the unsuspecting.
Gus and BooBear: Fall has come to our map dot. The leaves are falling and the temps are cool—in fact, I’m going to build a fire for the evening.

Very jealous here, Rebecca!! Mom and Dad always wanted to move somewhere north (perhaps not as far north as CHarris) but stayed in this area to help take care of family. Now, it’s a little late to start a new adventure. But we did get to move to the country a little bit and get to see lots of wildlife. But no fire, in fact, the air conditioner is running just about non-stop.

Gus & BooBear: You can always visit…now what upcoming year does Iditarod start a few days after the first of the month…? 🙂 CHarris is just a handful of hours north of Snowhook—we’re practically neighbors. Speaking of firewood—it Rio is passing the time sawing logs, he might fit in well in Alaska.

Mama says she might just go back to the store and get that hat. She has no fear of looking like a Big Brown Q-tip – she says she is a little too, ummm, let’s say “curvy” to be confused with a stick figure.
It has turned very cold here at the beach all of a sudden. We are going to go out for the last piddle and then, we get to sleep in the not so big bed-just so we can all stay warm. Mama says she might have an extra piece if chocolate- strictly to keep her energy up in the cold
Uh huh- yup, we’re buyin THAT one.
Good night all

T&G: I say go for the hat! I also heard somewhere that hot chocolate is the best beverage to warm you up, better than coffee or cyyda—I bet that theory is true when it comes to chocolate from a certain outlet store.

Rio: Up to? We’re not up to nothing! I swear!!!
Rebecca: The good news is that the city just came by and cut down the (dead) tree in our front yard. So now we just have some itty bitty trees that Mom and Dad planted last year. They’re supposed to get real tall and screen us from the house next door, but so far they’re not tall enough for any TMGs to drop in on anything taller than an ant. (Of course, I keep peeing on them, so I’m not sure they’ll get much bigger at all!)

KirbyT: Don’t underestimate your ‘watering’ efforts. 🙂

Hey there. Just checking in from the TOGA where we are cold! We are all wearing out sweatshirts with hoods. It is supposed to get up to 70 tomorrow though so it will be nice.
My two new (old) sewing machines are really purty. I sewed with a friend in the motel room tonight. We got lots done. I am having a real good time.
Rio, your stories about your sister make me really feel blessed with mine. Thanks Catty Librarian and Dawson! You two are great!
Goodnight now. More sewing machines tomorrow. If you are really lucky I will have time to send you a few pictures! 😀

Staff: You must be getting all our warm air! Today it was sunny and 95 degrees. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be rainy and 66 degrees!
Rebecca: Unfortunately for the trees, it’s not “water.” Some of the lower branches are turning brown!

Staff: Before I read the end of your post, I was hoping we’d be able to see pictures of the old machines.
KirbyT: One thing is for certain, if the MGs come barking up those trees, they won’t get too high 🙂
I think I’m going to turn on the electric blanket and read TFAT until AJ gets home.
Night all.
