The Iggy Papers

Nixon looked across the Championship Autobody yard to where Mindy Jo, Nixon’s sister, was pointing out something on a mashed-up SUV she’d just brought in on the wrecker to Bernie. Mindy Jo was big and strong, with big strong arms covered with the tattooed faces of all the boyfriends she’d ever had. Once she’d pulled the sleeve of her T-shirt way way up and said, “There’s room up here for you, Bernie.” Bernie laughed. His normal laugh is the best sound in the world, but he also has a very small laugh of what you might call the nervous kind, which was the one he laughed then.

(This is from The Iggy Papers, the new Chet and Bernie short story. There’s only one way to get it, and that’s by preordering Of Mutts and Men, the next Chet and Bernie novel – see link below. On pub date, 7/7, Iggy will land in your email.)

I am trying to imagine what Mindy Jo’s arm looks like with all those tattoos.

    Good afternoon to all!

I wonder about the merits of employing Mindy Jo’s approach to courting in my love life.

Thanks for another great beginning. Made me laugh. A hearty looking-forward-to-the-rest-of-the-story laugh.
